Elena followed Marcel to what seemed like an abandoned church. Marcel led her up the stairs and paused at a door. He looked at Elena, questioning if he should help or even trust her. He quickly reminded himself that the girl who stood before him was only a child who had been forced into the supernatural world.
"Wait here." Marcel instructed, opening the door.
"Marcel." A girl said ecstatically.
Then there was nothing but silence. Elena peered in attempting to see what was going on.
A brown-haired girl, who appeared to be around Elena's age, was talking with Marcel. Elena quickly moved away from the door before they could notice she was looking.
Elena knitted her eyebrows, why couldn't she hear them?
Elena had no idea how much time had gone by as she waited… And waited… And waited. Time felt as if it was passing slowly, which only made Elena feel more anxious. Just as Elena was about to leave, the door opened.
"Elena, I would like you to meet Davina." Marcel announced with a smile on his face.
Davina gave Elena a light smile that disappeared as quickly as it arrived. In turn, Elena gave Davina a small smile in an attempt to be polite.
Elena slowly shifted her eyes back to the stairway, deciding if she should just make a run for it.
"Invite her in." Marcel demanded, snapping Elena out of her thoughts.
"You can come in." Davina complied.
Elena hesitated before walking into the room.
"There's been a change of plans." Marcel informed.
"What-" Elena said before being rudely interrupted.
"He's saying you can't stay here." Davina announces with a triumphant smile.
Marcel shifted uncomfortably, he didn't particularly like the idea of throwing this girl to the wolves, but Davina had been right. That girl would bring nothing but trouble, he knew that before Davina told him she had a bad feeling about Elena.
Marcel didn't want to find out what Klaus would do to his city after he found out that Marcel had been hiding a doppelganger from him.
Elena looked at Marcel before she let out a sigh she didn't know she was holding in.
"I understand." Elena said acquiescently.
Elena left before Marcel could say anything else.
Elena walked through the city, occasionally gazing up at the beautiful night sky. She wrapped her arms around her body, slightly shivering. It became painfully clear that winter was quickly approaching.
Elena paused for a moment and looked back at the "Welcome to New Orleans" sign. She gave a silent thanks to the man that had tried to help her, before she turned her head and continued to walk, going nowhere in particular.
