Elena sat near the fireplace while secretly watching Elijah cook thanksgiving dinner. She had tried to talk him out of it, but he insisted on doing it. Even though she couldn't be with her family and friends this thanksgiving, Elijah would be enough for her.

Elena smiled lightly when finally realized what she was thankful for.

When Elijah catches her watching him, she blushes before quickly looking away. He instantly appears in front of her and lifts her chin up. He smiles lightly as their eyes meet.

"You do not need to hide from me, lovely Elena."

The way her name rolled off his tongue sent shivers down her spine. The air became heavy as they got lost in each other's eyes. Both of them unconsciously moved closer and closer until Elijah's lips had been hovering an inch above Elena's.

A knock on the door pulled them out of their trance.

Silence filled the room, neither of them wanted to move from their current spots.

"I believe that is for you." Elijah breathed, staying in the same position.

"I guess I should get it then." Elena breathes as Elijah begins to back away from her.

Elena opened the door and immediately paused. She felt tears welling up in her eyes but she quickly pushed them down as a smile appeared on her face.

"Hey, Elena." Jeremy said with a concerned look on his face.

"Jeremy!" Elena exclaimed as she pulled him into a hug.

Jeremy wrapped his arms around Elena realizing just how much he had missed his sister. Elena abruptly pulled away and looked at him confusedly.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asked.

"I invited him." Elijah informed.

Elena paused and looked towards Elijah.

"Thank you." Elena said, receiving a small nod from Elijah.

"Elena, can we talk?" Jeremy asked.

"Yeah Jer, come in." Elena said as she began to walk into the house.

Jeremy quickly grabbed her arm and shook his head.

"Not here."

Elena frowned as Jeremy led her out of the house.

"What's wrong?" Elena asked as Jeremy came to a stop.

He turned to her with a frown on his face.

"You're asking me what's wrong, isn't that what I should be asking you?" Jeremy scoffed.

"What are you talking about? I'm okay." Elena informed.

"If you're okay then what is this?" Jeremy asked, pulling out a stack of newspapers.

Elena furrowed her eyebrows as she read them, all of the deaths she had caused immediately came back to her.

"Jeremy I-" Elena began with a shaky voice before he cut her off.

"No, Elena, you're a monster! How could you do something like that? You're just like the rest of them! I thought you would be different, but you've turned into a completely different person." Jeremy yelled as he pulled out a stake.

"Jer, no. You don't understand, my humanity was off. I couldn't-" Elena said as she backed away.

"Lies!" Jeremy yelled as he launched at her.

Suddenly Jeremy dropped to the ground as he yelled in pain. Elena quickly turned around and locked eyes with Esther.

"Follow me." Esther said as she turned around and began walking in the opposite direction.

Elena frowned as her legs began to move on their own, it appeared she did not have a choice in the matter.

"I understand that you have spoken to Elijah about me, I suspect you must have many questions." Esther announced, stopping at a wooden cabin in the middle of the woods.

"I don't." Elena informed curtly.

"There is no need for you to be hostile, I do not wish to harm you." Esther commented.

"So why am I here? What do you want from me?" Elena questioned.

"One thing at a time, Elena."

Esther allowed a smile form as she opened the cabin door and signaled Elena to enter. Elena hesitated before following Esther. Elena sat down on a wooden chair that was placed directly in front of the brown leather couch that Esther was sitting on.

"Your brother was wrong about you."

Elena looked up at Esther confusedly.

"You and your unborn child were both victims of my son's cruelness and for that, I apologize."

"You knew about my pregnancy?" Elena asked, trying to prevent the tears from forming.

Esther nodded her head.

"I've been watching over you for quite some time now, and-"

"Do you know if Klaus knew? About…"

Esther stood up and approached Elena before giving her an ingenuine frown.

"He knew, trust me, my child, he knew." Esther said as Elena broke down in Esther's arms.

Elena did not know why she felt like she could trust Esther blindly as an infant would blindly trust their parents. She wondered what was going on before fog filled her mind, making her forget what she had just been thinking about.

"I thought I loved him." Elena confesses.

"Are you sure it wasn't the blood bond?" Esther asks as she rubs Elena's back.

"I know what I felt. it wasn't the blood bond, but it doesn't matter anymore." Elena sighs as she wiped the remaining tears from her face.

"Because you have Elijah?" Esther questions.

"Yes." Elena answers with a smile.

"He's only with you because you look like Tatia. He doesn't truly love you, Elena, and he never will." Esther informs.

"That's not true." Elena says as she begins to get up but Esther holds her down.

"Why else do you think he loved Katherine? You are just a replacement to him just like Katherine had been." Esther explains.

Elena paused, her eyes widened as tears filled them once again.

"No, stop, you're lying!" Elena yells.

"You know that I would never lie to you." Esther told her.

"I know." Elena says like a submissive child.

"Elena, I need you to do something for me when the time is right. Will you do it?" Esther asked.

Elena paused as her eyes became glassy.

"I will do anything you ask of me."
