The next few days were odd, Elijah was always out and Klaus kept checking on her like she was a baby. Klaus was being nice to her and it worried her more than anything. She wondered if he had lost his mind. Perhaps the looming threat of Esther had spooked him, causing him to act strangely. She desperately hopes that is the case.

She has no desire to be in yet another love triangle. Love triangles only bring hurt and pain. It's never a good outcome for everyone. She refused to repeat history, even the history that had not been hers. It was a sick cycle and she was determined to be the one to break it.

Her door opens causing her to groan.

"Go away Klaus, I'm perfectly fine!" Elena exclaims laying on her bed as she stares at the ceiling.

The sound of a throat clearing catches her attention as she looks at the door. She sits up when she realizes it's not Klaus, but it's Elijah.

"Elijah," She greets, a smile appearing on her face as she recalls the moment he told her he loved her.

The memory refused to leave her mind, and she loved it.

"Elena," Elijah greets as he quickly approaches her.

Something is wrong, Elena can sense it.

"Forgive me," Elijah says.

Before Elena could react a needle was plunged into her body, the burning sensation of vervain flooded her veins, quickly knocking her out. It had to be done, Elijah tells himself while he places her head on the pillow. There had been no other way, she was under Esther's influence. Klaus watches him from the doorway.

"She could have fought it," Klaus says.

"It is not her battle," Elijah says, caressing Elena's face.

"You have feelings for her?" Klaus asks.

It's not a question.

"We will not repeat history, brother," Elijah says as he forces his eyes away from Elena.

"I never planned to," Klaus says absently.

"I see the way you look at her," Elijah admits.

"Then you should know this is very different than what I had with Tatia," Klaus says before walking off.

Elijah stands there stunned for a moment before calling a nurse into the room.

"Inject her with this every hour, do not allow her to fully wake up. Do you understand?" Elijah compels.

"I understand," The nurse says mindlessly.

"You will find your money in your bank account once this is over, thank you,"

Elijah spares one last look at Elena before going after his brother.

3 days had passed since they had left Elena in Utah. 3 horrible days stuck in a car with Niklaus. 3 days avoiding any conversation that revolved around Elena.

Just when Elijah thought he couldn't take it anymore, the car came to a stop.

"Where are we?" Elijah asked as he stepped out of the car.

"I thought we could use a little help," Klaus says before walking into the abandoned faculty.

Elijah pauses at the sight of 5 coffins.

"I take it this is where you've been hiding them?" Elijah asks.

Klaus ignored his questions as he pulled the daggers out of Kol and Rebekah. Elijah watched as Klaus seemed to hesitate on pulling the dagger out of Finn.

"He won't help us, not against mother," Elijah informed.

"He will," a voice called out.

"Sage," Elijah greets.

"Klaus has promised to let us live our lives if we help," Sage informs.

"And you're sure he will agree?" Elijah questions.

"Yes," Sage says confidently.

Without another word, Klaus pulls the dagger out of Finn.

When Kol, Rebekah, and Finn wake up they explain most of the situation.

"So after you dagger us for centuries you expect us to help you stop mother from killing you?" Kol asks with a cruel laugh.

"She wants to kill all of us, not just Niklaus," Elijah informs.

"Right. You keep saying that, but you have no proof," Kol argues.

"Enough of this!" Rebekah says, pain clear in her voice.

"Our own mother wants to kill us," Rebekah whispers.

"Can you blame her? Look at us, we are all monsters," Finn informs.

"Are you going to help us or not?" Klaus asks impatiently.

"Ah what the hell, I'm in," Kol sighs.

"We're in," Sage says as she holds Finn's hand.

All eyes go to Rebekah.

"I'm in," Rebekah says.

"So, what now?" Kol asks.

"We're taking a little trip to a town called Mystic Falls," Klaus notifies before walking out.

Elijah quickly follows him outside and pushes Klaus against the wall.

"What are you playing at Niklaus?" Elijah asks.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Klaus quips.

"I will not allow you to endanger Elena's friends," Elijah informs.

"And here I thought you hadn't cared about Elena's feelings," Klaus says before pushing Elijah off of him.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Elijah calls out as Klaus walks away.

Klaus's steps falter before he turns his head towards Elijah.

"I think you already know," Klaus tells him before walking into the building.

Elijah stands there for a moment before sighing, his mind had been made up. He curses Niklaus as he walks into the building.

"There's been a change of plans,"
