"Thank you so much for dinner," Elizabeth said, turning her face toward Lucas after opening her door.
"You are very welcome," he responded sincerely. "Do you think we could do it again sometime?" he cocked his head to the side, one eyebrow raised. Elizabeth chuckled, and bit her bottom lip as she turned the rest of her body to face him.
"I guess we'll have to see," she said flirtatiously, scooching toward him, bringing her fingertips to his tie. The closeness forced the smile to disappear from Lucas' face and the breath to escape from his chest. He searched her face, slowly looking down at her lips, then making his way back up to her blue eyes. Elizabeth's grin receded as well, as she picked up on his energy and matched his exhale, clenching her jaw. Lucas pulled her in tight, wrapping his arms around her, her hands moving to grasp his lapels. He ran a hand up her back, stopping it at her neck, and he pulled it closer, pressing his lips to hers. She drew in a breath through her nose, intoxicated by his scent, and they kissed each other more and more fervently as the moments passed. Her arms reached up to lay over his shoulders, then her hands moved to the back of his hair. She combed through it slowly with her fingers, forcing another breath out of him. He pulled away and placed his forehead to hers, both of them breathing heavily. He drew back to kiss her forehead before embracing her. A few beats passed as they melted further into their hug, both closing their eyes, swaying back and forth.
"Would you like some tea?" she asked sheepishly against his neck. Lucas chuckled admirably.
"I would actually love some tea," his voice rumbled.
"Yeah?" she pulled away and grinned. He gave her a half smile back.
"Of course."
She turned toward the door with his hand in hers. He followed her in without hesitation, closing the door behind him.
