Chapter 33

"What brings you three here?" Dec asked, surprised.

"I'll tell you when Mianite and Dianite get here," I answered. He nodded. In no time, Mianite and Dianite appeared in front of us.

"Why did you call us here sister?" Mianite asked. Ianite looked at me. I told them of what happened at Wot's lair. The three men were surprised to hear of pure soul magic.

"Soul magic isn't something that's ever been used before. You were especially chosen to have just soul fire magic by fate, but now... where did this soul magic come from?" Dianite mused.

"Wait, I just thought of something. Soul fire only appears when fire is lit on soul sand and soul soil. Maybe soul powers are part of her soul fire powers because of how soul fire is made in the first place," Gandus thought out. All of us looked at her thoughtfully.

"Ya know, she has a point," I pointed out. The gods all nodded slowly, thinking about that.

"She does, and it is possible I suppose," Mianite said.

"But the prophecy didn't tell me about soul powers," Dianite argued.

"Are all prophecies 100% accurate though? I did think to myself at one point in the recent past that the future isn't set in stone. So maybe I gained a new power due to Gandus' comment that wasn't prophesied."

"I suppose you did. I wonder what else you can do with soul magic?" Dec wondered.

"No clue. Seems like we'll find out as time goes on," I said. The others nodded. "Oh, Gandus, will you follow a god now that you're here to stay?" I asked.

"I dunno, maybe."

"Maybe you should follow Dianite, given that you're very spirited and can be chaotic," I suggested. Gandus took on a thoughtful look. Then she didn't look too sure.

"But... wouldn't that make me one of you Champions? I'm no Champion. I'm just newly reformed from being Darkness' pawn."

"But that's what makes it all the better. You're reformed, and you'll be fighting for the good side. You're a good magic wielder and fighter. You'd be a great asset to our team. It would be an honor to have you fighting with us," I said, speaking for us all in a Priestess type way. Ianite smiled, proud of me.

"Well said Priestess," Dec said proudly. I grinned. Gandus smiled.

"You know, you're right. Plus, I could use what I learned from the Darkness against him." I gave an unsure look.

"If he's smart, he'd change his tactics," I pointed out. Gandus scowled.

"Point taken... dammit." She then turned to Dianite. "Well, you have a new Champion now Dianite. How's it feel?" She grinned. Dianite returned the grin.

"Feels good. Now Ianite isn't the only one with two Champions."

"But that just leaves me with only one," Mianite said, a little disappointed.

"Oh, don't worry Mianite, your day will come. Not any time on these isles, but it will come." I said. He was surprised to hear that.

"What are you saying? We won't be living here on the isles forever?" Gandus asked. I shook my head.

"There will come a time where we need to leave, but that time is not yet. We still have business here to attend to." Dec looked at me strangely.

"Phoenix, step aside with me, please. Mianite, Ianite, Dianite, you three as well." I got a confused face and followed Dec and the gods. Once we were in a different room, Dec turned to me. "Phoenix, what do you know?"

"Well... I know that we're gonna need to leave this world at some point. Karl can't come with us, and Mianite will gain 2 new followers."

"And how do you know this?" Mianite asked.

"I... I dunno. It just... appeared in my mind and I just... said it." The gods looked at each other.

"I need to speak to you both... I have a weird feeling," Mianite said, then the gods went into another room, well away from us.

~Ianite's POV~

"What is this about Mianite?" I asked.

"Ianite, Dianite, do you remember our older sister Aianite?" Dianite and I looked at each other, confused. "That would be a 'no'." Mianite then sighed, then told us everything about what happened 1,000 years ago. Then he told us about the High Priestess Phoenix and how powerful her psychic abilities were, just like this Phoenix's appears to be getting.

"Wait wait wait... there was another High Priestess and her name was Phoenix too?" I asked, surprised. Mianite nodded. Then, as if an anvil fell on my head, the memories came flooding back all at once.

~1,000 years ago, a week before the big war against Fenrir and his army~

The High Priestess Phoenix, red, like, the actual color red, haired, dark skinned, punk looking, average height. Her and past me are hanging out, looking like they're in love. But... what? I keep watching the memory. They're walking in the garden and they come across another female. Brown haired, dressed in a cute one piece outfit with green and yellow accents. She looked up and she has one green eye and one yellow eye. Aianite! How could I forget?! We were so close as sisters.

"Hey lovebirds, how's today going?" Aianite asked. Phoenix grinned and lightly elbowed Aianite.

"Just because I pledged my total devotion and following to you as High Priestess doesn't mean you can mercilessly tease Ianite and I about our relationship," Phoenix said jokingly.

"To answer your question though, our day is going just fine. How's your day going?" past me said.

"It's going alright. Just a little nervous about Fenrir. He's getting stronger. We'll need to be ready."

"I'm ready," Phoenix said, conjuring up a normal colored flame.

"I know, you also have very powerful psychic powers. That'll help majorly in the fight," Aianite mentioned. Phoenix nodded.

~fast forward to the war~

The good side was losing, badly. Apparently, what Aianite said about Phoenix's powerful psychic abilities weren't enough... Phoenix and past me were working together, she was using her bow as well as past me. They were doing extremely well as a fighting team. They blended well together. Then both of them seemed to feel a disturbance in the air and looked over to Aianite. She was hovering in the air, glowing, bringing all of her power into her.

"Aianite! No!" past me yelled. Phoenix looked fearful.

"Aianite!" Mianite and Dianite shouted. Aianite destroyed Fenrir's army, but in doing so, she ended her life as well. Phoenix clutched her chest and fell to her knees.

"Phoenix?!" past me and I said. Past me went over to her and held her to her chest. I got closer to them. "Phoenix... not you too..."

"We both know... this were to happen... if Aianite died... Ianite, I promise... I will find you again... in another life..." Phoenix gave past me one last kiss, then breathed her last. Past me let out an anguished cry. Mianite and Dianite both laid a hand on her shoulder in support.

~present day~

I was crying, those memories... those painful memories... Mianite was holding me.

"I'm sorry sister."

"But... Phoenix was right. She kept her promise... she found me again. In this soul fire wielding, feisty girl with the same name and same destiny to become High Priestess." I stepped back and smiled. I looked back and saw Phoenix in the doorway.

"So... I am the one of this group that was reincarnated."

~Normal POV~

I was surprised to hear that. So I am the one that's reincarnated, and past me promised Ianite she'd find her again. I wonder if they were lovers?

"So, what happened?" The gods looked at each other, then Dec appeared beside me too. They sighed. Ianite told me everything she saw. I was surprised to hear that there was a 4th god, a goddess named Aianite and that past me was Aianite's devoted follower and High Priestess sworn to just Aianite. Also yes, my past self and Ianite were indeed lovers. No wonder why past me promised Ianite that she'd find her again. She knew she'd get reincarnated at some point. Then I looked at Dec and Mianite scrutinizingly.

"Did you both know of this already?" They nodded. "Why didn't you say anything till now?"

"It wasn't time yet, until now," Mianite said. Gandus then came in.

"What's taking you so long? Also, what wasn't time yet?" I explained everything that was told to me. She was surprised as well to hear what had happened 1,000 years ago. "So, you're reincarnated huh? That's different." I nodded, then I felt a new presence. It feels... faded... but it's also a nice presence. It feels like the nice, cool, refreshing air of the ocean breeze. Wait... given what Ianite told me of Aianite... it's Aianite's presence that I'm feeling?!
