If you like Ice Nine Kills, Let Me KNOW!
"How am I supposed to dress appropriately if you won't tell me where you're taking me?" I asked, looking down at my phone awaiting Tori's reply.
"I'll be there in a few minutes, just put some pants on. I have a shirt for you to wear."
"A shirt?"
"Think of it as an early birthday present, Jade," she said, and I heard a muffled sound come over the line briefly. Sighing and pulling on a pair of jean shorts from my dresser drawer, I slipped them on. "Can you make me a coffee please, I'm just down the street."
"Yeah, okay. See you soon," I said with a soft sigh and ended the call before pulling a shirt on. I then made my way upstairs to get a coffee ready for Tori and I.
It wasn't long before Tori let herself into the house, just like I did to her all the time.
"Jade?"
"In here, Vega," I called out, pouring her coffee into a travel mug before setting about to make my own coffee.
"Here," she said, pressing a kiss to my cheek as she pushed a box into my hands.
"What's this?"
"An early present, open it."
I set the box on the counter and lifted the lid, my eyes lighting up as I saw neatly folded Ice Nine Kills merch staring back up at me.
An envelope was sitting on to of the hoodie, as I lifted the shirt off it to look at what was left in the box.
I rested the shirt on my shoulder, grabbing the envelope and opened it up.
My heart stopped briefly as I saw tickets inside it.
"You didn't," I said, surprise in my voice.
"I did. So go get dressed," Tori said.
"Wait, now?"
"It's an hour's drive, go get ready."
"You got me tickets to the mosh pit?" I asked, launching myself onto Tori, wrapping my arms around her tightly.
Tori hugged me back just as tightly, kissing my cheek.
"I love you," I said, kissing her gently.
"I love you too, Jade. Ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah?" She asked.
I snorted, playfully slapping her arm.
The stadium started to fill up around us, so Tori and I moved closer to the barricade, my arm around her waist.
"Oh, wait," Tori said, pulling something out of her back pocket and handed it to me.
"No fucking way," I said when I noticed what it was.
"VIP passes," she said. "So we can go backstage after the show."
"Best birthday ever!" I exclaimed, hugging her tightly once more.
"I don't think I've ever seen you this excited, ever."
"Truthfully, I don't think I've been this excited. Except when I kissed you for the first time, or when Riley was born… and when you told me you loved me for the first time."
When the show finished, Tori and I made our way to the security guy at the side of the stage and showing our passes to get backstage.
"Right This way," he murmured gruffly, hitching a thumb over his shoulder before turning and gesturing is to follow him.
"Oh my god," I said, gripping Tori's hand tightly. "It's Nadia," I said, pointing to the girl at the end of the hallway.
"Who?" Tori asked.
"Spencer's girlfriend."
"Oh, cool. She's pretty."
Nodding, I sucked in a nervous breath as the security guard stopped walking and gestures to Nadia.
"These girls have a backstage pass, and a meet and greet."
"Right This way, ladies," Nadia said, smiling at Tori and I.
"I-Uh…"
"Sorry, she's just excited. I'm Tori, this is my girlfriend Jade."
"Cool, well, the boys are through here, can I get anything for you?"
"Water would be great, if that's not too much trouble?"
"No problem," Nadia said as she opened a door and revealed the boy's, all shirtless, sweaty and half their gory makeup gone from how much they sweat while they were on stage. "Boys, this is Tori and Jade."
"Holy shit," I murmured, staring at them all in disbelief.
"Thanks, Nadia. Did you get the reservation?" Spencer asked, and god, his voice was so smooth.
"Not yet, I'm still calling hotels."
"God, if we have to sleep in that bus for one more night I'm gonna need a chiropractor."
"Hey, Uh… I know you have a show in Northridge tomorrow, I have a place you could crash? My parents are out of town for the next few days."
I stared at Tori, eyes wide.
Did she really just offer her place to Ice Nine Kills?
"Really?" Nadia asked, her eyebrows raising.
"Yeah, I mean.. I was planning on staying at Jade's tonight anyway for her birthday tomorrow, so it'll be like you're staying in an air BNB."
"You're serious?"
"Yeah, it's like five minutes from Northridge," Tori said, shrugging.
"Why didn't you just go to that show tomorrow if you live so close?" One of the newer band members asked… I don't remember his name.
"Sold out, this is the only one I could get."
"Your girlfriends kinda quiet," Nadia pointed out, holding out a water bottle.
"She's just star struck." Tori nudged me in the ribs with her elbow and I jolted, looking around to see everyone looking at me.
Blushing, I cleared my throat. "I really like your album Every Trick In The book. Well, all of them, but that one is killer."
"What's your favourite song?" Spencer asked, strumming a few chords on an acoustic guitar.
"Star-Crossed Enemies."
And with that, Spencer started strumming the opening chords and singing.
"Here, we're just stuck in the spotlight. We should make like shadows and disappear, silhouettes in the sunset, our final curtain call is drawing near…"
Oh god, Spencer Charnas was singing Star-Crossed Enemies just for me.
Tori nudged me again.
"Sing," she whispered.
Swallowing my nerves, I nodded, joining him in singing.
"If parting is such sweet sorrow, to hell with waiting for tomorrow. Hand in hand like we planned, as the night takes us away, and I hope when they find me and you in this tomb built for two, they get the glory for the end of our story, and take their fucking bows."
I'm fucking singing with Spencer Charnas!
I must be dreaming.
The rest of the band joined in, Nadia and Tori sitting back and enjoying the show while Nadia filmed it on her phone.
"So remember us, the soon dearly departed, and how the war our fathers started. Sealed the fate of star-crossed enemies. You and I both know that death won't matter, bring on the poison and the dagger. They set the stage for tragedy."
The band and I quietend as Spencer sang the next part.
"Don't scream cause the show must go on though our fairy tale is ripping at the seams. But love doesn't have to be something that we hide behind the scenes."
I joined in with Spencer to finished the song, leaning against Tori.
"If parting is such sweet sorrow, to hell with waiting for tomorrow
Side by side when we die, as the night takes us away
And I hope when they find me and you in this tomb built for two
They get the glory for the end of our story, and take their fucking bows
So remember us, the soon dearly departed
And how the war our fathers started
Sealed the fate of star-crossed enemies
You and I both know that death won't matter
Bring on the poison and the dagger
They set the stage for tragedy
They set the stage for tragedy
They set the stage for tragedy, they set the stage for tragedy
So remember us, the soon dearly departed
And how the war our fathers started
Sealed the fate of star-crossed enemies
You and I both know that death won't matter
Bring on the poison and the dagger
They set the stage for tragedy."
Tori wrapped her arms around my waist, holding me close as I beamed a smile.
"That's quite a voice you have, how would you like to join me- us," Spencer gestured to the band. "For 'Love Bites', tomorrow night?"
"Are you serious?"
He nodded.
"That would be an amazing birthday present, thank you so much."
Sooooo... Jade/Liz singing with Spencer would be a glorious thing for me to see... Hope y'all enjoyed this chapter! Please comment so I know how you're liking it.
