Donatello POV

A trench-coat wearing Donatello walked out of the library, unhappy that he couldn't find out anything new about mutation, as he and his brothers have kept running into new mutants on a daily basis in the sewers and they have no idea why.

The purple-band turtle had hoped that he could find out new research at the library's computer but there was no new research and he felt frustrated that he was at a dead end with no new information on sight.

Don Eppes POV

The FBI agent was annoyed, as he was dragged to New York City for a case that he felt was a waste of time, but his superiors insisted.

There were reports of people disappearing around certain areas in the city and there were sightings of strange creatures being responsible.

'Great, and just when you thought hoaxes couldn't get any more ridiculous and this happens.' Don thought to himself, annoyed that he was assigned a case so soon after a huge one he had just wrapped, though he thought it would be a good opportunity to look through the city after the case was done.

Both POVs…

Donatello was deep in thought as he walked towards the next library, hoping for possible new information, ignoring changing lights, not knowing cars approaching.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt a hand on his shoulder and he realized that he forgot an important rule of being a ninja, be aware of your surroundings, and narrowly avoided being hit by a truck.

"I am going to have a lecture about this if Splinter hears about this." Donatello muttered to himself.

"I think he would just be glad that you are okay." A voiced behind him said

Donatello looked around to see a man with short dark spiky hair in a suit with an annoyed expression.

"Sorry, I was… distracted by things that have been going on in my life and I was trying to figure things out." Donatello answered, not wanting to explain what was going on.

"Sorry to hear that." Don sympathized, "I have had things going on too and, I must say, you remind me of my brother when he goes into deep thought when he works on equations."

This made Donatello smile, as he knew that the man understood, though he needed to go before too many questions were asked and needed to find a new subject before he left.

"So what brings you to town, the city that never sleeps?" He asked

"I'm here for a case involving strange creatures and people disappearing." Don answered

"Case?" Donatello inquired, wondering why the man would say that

"I'm an FBI agent, Agent Don Eppes." The man explained, "And I can say it feels silly doing this but I guess the FBI felt the need for it to be investigated and help out the local authorities.

That made Donatello both nervous and excited, nervous about potentially being exposed to the government but excited that more resources were put into the disappearances but he needed to get going.

"Look I want to talk some more about that but my father is expecting to come home soon and I don't want to get in trouble for being late again." It was technically true, as Master Splinter wanted him to come home in time for sparring practice.

"Understandable, just be careful out there." Don waved as his phone started to ring and answered it.

"Eppes? Right, I'm on my way." He hung up and turned around to take another look at the strange man but the man was gone, into the shadows.
