"I hate space." Catra pulled a small glob of blue goo from her hair. "Why is everything so weird out here?"

Adora shrugged. "Maybe to other people you seem weird." She punched coordinates into the ship's computer and settled into the captain's seat.

"Make room, Adora."

Adora winced as Catra leapt into her lap. "Could you not do that? I'm still a little, you know, IN PAIN!"

Catra's tail brushed against her face. She eyed her claws as if considering whether they could be sharpened on the chair. "It's not my fault you got hit so much."

"It is, actually. You're the one who pushed me into that group of space pirates. You were supposed to distract them."

"I'd say they were pretty distracted by the giant, glowing warrior woman."

Adora stared at her girlfriend silently. Catra leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Relax, I knew you could handle it. Everything worked out fine. Plus, you should have seen your face."

Catra stood on the seat. She clutched at her chest dramatically. "Catra? How could you? Oh no, betrayal!" She fell back into Adora's lap in laughter.

"Well, I'm glad you're entertained," Adora grumbled, crossing her arms. "Darla, how much longer?"

The ship's onboard computer whirred to life, projecting a purple hologram to communicate with her. "Administrator detected. Estimated time of arrival is two minutes."

Catra stood and moved behind Adora. "You think the lovebirds finished their jobs?"

"Incoming transmission," Darla alerted them.

"Patch it through," Adora ordered. "This must be them now."

Static crackled before the sounds of a screaming Bow and Glimmer filled the space.

"Adora! Get us out of here!"

Adora leaned forward. "Glimmer, are you okay? We're entering the planet's atmosphere now."

Bow screamed furiously in the background. "I never, ever, ever want to come back to this planet! You are not nice lava monsters!"

"No time for a landing," Glimmer shouted. "I'll teleport as soon as I spot you."

Ahead of them, Adora and Catra could see black clouds giving way to a desolate landscape of volcanos and black soil. Among a field of burnt trees, two figures were running from what looked like mounds of fire with long tendrils.

Catra leaned across Adora to speak. "Sparkles, we've got eyes on you. Get in here before your boyfriend burns his midriff.

A moment later, a pink shimmering haze appeared in front of them before giving way to Bow, Glimmer, and a small container.

Glimmer growled. "Why does space hate me so much?!"

Catra walked over and extinguished a smoldering piece of hair on Bow's head. "You two look worse than usual."

"We did it, though," Bow grinned. "Glimmer freed the magic here, which immediately tried to kill us… And we got the artifact."

He brought the container over to Adora. She opened it and carefully lifted the small angular object. Like other First Ones technology, it was sleek, sharp, and light in her hands. Her face reflected back at her in the glass-like surface as she tried to read the text.

"I'm not sure what it says. Some of the words don't make sense, almost like it has another meaning here."

Catra lifted it from Adora's fingers. "Looks like garbage to me."

"What's it say?" Glimmer asked, taking a sip of a water carton from Mara's old rations.

Adora glanced at the artifact again as Catra held it up to the light. "In the monthly dark on Eternia's favored, the light shows true."

"Like I said, garbage," Catra dismissed, tossing the artifact to Adora.

"I don't think so." Adora shook her head. "The text is old, almost like it's another dialect."

Bow moved to her side, studying the small object for himself. "If there were an older race of First Ones or some sort of regional dialects, I bet my dads would know something about it."

Adora pocketed the shard. "That's a great idea. I'll ask them when we get back. Darla, take us home."

"Good," Catra added. "I'm ready to be back on Etheria again. That's enough space for now."

"Hey, Catra, think fast." Glimmer shook the water carton in her direction, splashing the unsuspecting cat girl.

Catra let out a hiss and dove at the princess. "I'm going to murder you, Sparkles!"

Glimmer teleported, but Catra leapt again. "You know you'll never catch me, right? I can teleport wherever I want."

The two continued hurling insults and themselves across the room.

Bow waved his hands. "Not in the control room! There's too much sensitive equipment up here."

As he spoke, Catra dove at Glimmer and swiped her claw against the far wall. Glimmer began a teleport but squealed as Catra grabbed her ankle at the last second. The two disappeared, and a loud crashed echoed from the next room.

Bow and Adora looked at each other.

"Glimmer broke it," Catra called out.

Bow laughed nervously.

Adora touched his shoulder. "At least they're getting along, right?"
