Hello all you beautiful people! I'm excited for this chapter! Lots of fun to write!
Draco stepped through the floo of Jasper Granger and was met by the man with a fierce hug. "Son, she's asleep in your room. Something about the scent of you being on the pillows. I gave her a cup of chamomile tea to help calm her." When he saw the furrowed brow of the boy before him, he asked, "What's wrong, Draco?"
At the question, he broke down in tears and hugged Jasper tightly. "Not guilty...by...oh fuck...by reason of insanity!" He choked on the words, suddenly lurching forward and losing the contents of his stomach.
Jasper helped Draco over to the armchair closest to them. "Here. Just sit. I'll get you some water." He walked into the kitchen, hands shaking as he filled the glass. He took a deep breath and walked back out to Draco. "Sip slowly, son. Just breathe, okay. So, what does this mean in the Wizarding World?"
Draco sipped the water and felt the cold liquid going down his throat. Calmer, he explained about Ron being sentenced to 5 years in St. Mungo's psychiatric ward, then 2 years of probation, and the standing restraining order against him. "We can add you as well if you'd like." Jasper nodded.
"Now, what about the future? I mean, not to put any pressure or assume anything, but if you and Hermione have children, would they be protected as well?" Jasper smiled when he saw the boys ears redden.
Draco cleared his throat, "Umm, yes. If we had any children, their names would be added. Sir, you know how much I love your daughter and, well, I know this probably isn't the best time to ask but..." Draco trailed off not knowing if he should continue, but one look at his girlfriend's father and he did, "When we graduate, if you would give us your blessing that is, I would love to ask for her hand in marriage." Phew, he did it. Jasper pulled him into another tight hug.
"There would be no reason for me not to. My daughter, she loves you fiercely, and there is no doubt in my mind that you would give her a life full of happiness and harmony. And I would be honored to call you my son." Draco smiled brightly at the man.
"Thank you, sir." Draco said with his smile still plastered on his face. "I mean, thanks, dad."
Hermione woke up to an arm wrapped around her waist and a stilled hand in her hair. She could smell the citrus and sandalwood scent that belonged to Draco Malfoy. She stroked his hand causing him to wake. "Hey, beautiful. How do you feel?" Hermione turned to face him, and upon seeing the worry on his face, she knew.
"They found him not guilty, didn't they?" She watches as he nodded slightly. "Okay. I'm okay. Are you okay?" She watched as his face morphed from worry to anguish. "Draco, it will be alright, come here." She pulled his head to her chest and kissed the top of his head.
"I wanted him locked away for what he did to you. I want to kill him. I hate him. He hurt you, my love, my life. You mean everything to me, Granger. You are everything to me." Draco meant it. If he could go back and smack the shit out of his younger-self, he would. The years he wasted not being able to be near the woman currently holding him!
"Draco, you mean the world to me. When I think of my future, you are everywhere. My life with you is so beautiful and full of love. This is just a horrible thing that happened to us, but we will not allow it to define us. I love you, my beautiful Dragon." She knew how to rile him up. She saw the darkening of his eyes as he looked up from her chest. Desire. She would never tire of that look. She kissed him and he deepened the kiss, grabbing her ass and roll onto his back.
"Ahh, ohh! Wait! Where's my father?" Instantly the mood was killed.
"Damn, wait to instantly deflate my hard-on." He said causing her to giggle. "Before I came in here, he had said he was starting to get dinner ready. My mother is coming, you know? He's ready to impress her." They laughed then freshened up, heading to the kitchen to see if her father needed any help.
Hogwarts
Luna skipped out to the Clocktower Courtyard and waved to Ginny."Hey, Luna! Heard about you and Neville. You okay?" Ginny said as she gave her friend a quick hug.
"I'm great. Just thought I saw a Nargle in the alcove near the Quidditch Stands, but I was mistaken. I made a new friend the other day as well. He thinks I am beautiful, but he is the beautiful one. Something about his mouth pleases me. I think I may ask him for a kiss the next time we meet. I bet he tastes delicious." She said as if it was no big deal leaving Ginny stunned.
"Luna Lovegood! Are you talking about Blaise Zabini?" Ginny asked incredulously. Luna looked up to the sky and sighed.
"Yes. He came upon me by the lake the other day. I just cannot seem to get him out of my head. He's like a Wrackspurt." she said with a giggle. "He's actually watching me as we speak. I told him he was quite horrible at trying to sneak around." Ginny turned and looked around not seeing the Slytherin boy.
"I don't see him, Luna. Are you sure?" Ginny looked at her friend. Luna was smiling up at the sky now. Suddenly, she blew the sky a kiss. "He's in the Astronomy Tower, isn't he!" Ginny laughed.
"Like I said. Not very sneaky. I'll see you at dinner, Ginny. Give us a kiss." Luna offered her cheek and Ginny kissed it. "I've got a snake to catch." She said with a wink then skipped off leaving Ginny laughing and shaking her head.
Granger Residence, Hampstead
Draco had just finished setting the table when his mother came through the Floo. "Mother! You look radiant!" He helped her with her coat. "Something's different about you." He looked her over then shrugged. "Maybe she did something different with her hair?" he thought to himself.
"Narcissa, you came." Hermione wrapped herself around the woman she'd become so close to in the last few months of being reacquainted. She stepped back and eyed her. There was something different. The woman's usually pale complexion seemed to glow. "Dinner is almost ready. I'll get a bottle of red." She disappeared back into the kitchen where her father was removing the roasted chicken from the oven. "Oh my goodness, dad! That smells devine!"
They sat at the table and were getting ready to eat when Hermione spoke up. "Okay, I just want to say something." Draco, Narcissa, and her father looked up at her, and she continued, "These past couple months have been Hell, but I am just so lucky to have had the support of all of you during it. And although we did not get the result we wanted from this trial, I am still grateful for everything. He's gone, getting the help he needs, and I will never need to have contact with him again. I will not dwell on it, I will focus on the future. I love you all immensely. To the future!" They all raised their glasses and took a drink, well, except for Narcissa.
"Mother? Is there something wrong? You're not drinking your wine. I thought you liked this blend." Draco asked, a bit concerned.
Narcissa simply smiled and shook her head. "No dear. Well, that is to say, I have some news." She took out her wand and un-glamoured her hand, showing a beautiful opal ring. "Kingsley has proposed and I have accepted his engagement." Hermione clapped her hands together, Draco smiled, and Jasper seemed defeated. "And that's not all. Draco, dear, you are going to be getting a sibling."
"Wait! How? Kingsley doesn't have any children, does he?" Draco asked, not catching on.
"Babe! Your mum is having a baby!" Hermione screeched as she got up and hugged a now teary eyed Narcissa Black. "How wonderful!" Draco sat stunned. Narcissa looked over at him concerned.
"Sweetheart, Draco? Are you okay, my son?" She watched as his mouth opened and shut, no words coming out. Then he put his hands over his eyes as they watched his shoulders shake. He sniffled, "This is... oh Salazar... I've always wanted to be a big brother. I'd totally given up on it." Narcissa laughed loudly.
"Ahh, yes. It was a complete surprise. I had been told it was impossible. I just entered my second trimester, so I'm confident that the baby is safe. The Healers say the heartbeat is strong and I am in excellent health. King's is so excited. He's been wanting to tell you for weeks."
Jasper was happy for her of course, but damn if he wasn't a bit disappointed. He really liked the witch, but would just need to remain friends instead. "Congratulations, Narcissa, and extend my congratulations to Kingsley as well. Now, let's eat."
Hogwarts ~Astronomy Tower
Blaise was nervous. She'd seen him. How the fuck did she see him from all the way down there? He watched as she skipped off from her ginger friend. "Was she heading up here?" he thought to himself. He sat there for about fifteen minutes when he heard humming and footsteps approaching. "Lovegood. Good evening." he said without turning around from where he stood.
"Hello, Mr. Zabini. Enjoying the view?" she said as she walked closer. He could feel his heart beating faster. The breathy way she spoke excited him.
"Yes, the view was quite...stunning." he said in his most sensual voice, turning to face her, and causing Luna to blush. "You look good enough to eat, my dear." Well, now he'd done it, her knickers were positively ruined. He walked closer, so close he could feel the heat coming off her skin.
"Well, then come here. Have a taste." she said teasing him. She watched his eyes go wide then his gaze became more lustful. He took her by her slim waste, his other hand tilted her chin up as he captured her mouth with his. He couldn't be 100% sure, but he was pretty sure electricity surged out from their bodies the moment they kissed.
"Mmm, I was right," Luna said as they came apart for air, "You are delicious." And he was a goner after that. He picked her up and carried her off, transfiguring a chair into a loveseat. The snogged and touched each other through their clothes.
Blaise couldn't believe this was happening. "Lovegood? Maybe we should slow down. I don't want you to think I'm only after one thing here." Luckily his Pure-blood breeding came in handy. He kissed her softly, cupping her cheek. Looking deep into her crystal blue eyes then leaning his forehead against hers, he said to Luna, "Lovegood, I cannot leave here without knowing. Do I stand a chance here?" He sat back searching her eyes for an answer.
Luna understood what he was asking. Smiling she grabbed the collar of his robes to pull him closer and kissed him sweetly. "I won't hurt you. I feel a pull towards you. The stars have been aligning and showing me the way. They've been leading me to you. I know it." Blaise felt any remaining ice around his heart melt away at her speech.
He chuckled, "Who'd have guessed that we'd end up together? I bet your Gryffindor buddies will be up in arms." Luna shrugged. "No matter. I'm not afraid of a bunch of lions. Come here." He pulled her into his lap, "I just want to lay here a bit longer. Watch the stars with me a while?" Luna snuggled up to him as they leaned back to enjoy the darkening sky.
Ginny:
I miss you so much. They are giving us next weekend off. I am going to get a room at the Leaky Cauldron. I'd love to see you. It's just been so hard without Ron here anymore. I know what he did to Hermione was awful, but I still find myself missing my best friend.
I really need you, Gin. My heart aches without you. Five more weeks of training though. Then, they will assign us partners and the real work begins. I'll be back at Grimmauld Place and have every other weekend free to see you. Okay, gotta go. Let me know about next weekend. I love you!Always,
Harry
Ginny clutched the parchment to her chest. She hadn't heard from Harry since before Ron's trial. She couldn't wait to see him, so she immediately responded yes to meeting next weekend. Hermione had come back a few days ago. They saw each other twice since. She couldn't help but feel awkward. Her brother had raped her best friend. He'd gotten away with it claiming insanity. Ginny didn't even know what to say to Hermione. But, she had Draco there. Ginny didn't like it at first, but seeing the way he looks at Hermione like she's the moon and stars, takes away any reservations Ginny had about the Slytherin's intentions.
"Weaslette! Wait a second!" Ginny turned to see Malfoy running up to her. "Can I talk to you a minute? It's about Hermione." Ginny nodded. "Well, you're her best friend and know her better than anyone, right? If she was to pick the perfect ring, what would it look like?"
Ginny gasped, "A ring? Are you, are you proposing?" She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"Not just yet. I am planning on it though. After we graduate. Her father already gave his blessing. Listen, I know it seems real soon, but she's it for me. I love her with ever fiber of my being." The sincerity in his words made Ginny's eyes water.
"Wow, um, yeah, so Hermione is simple. Whenever we've discussed our dream proposal, she always says she wants a classic ring, halo shape. I wouldn't go too big on the carat; no more than three. And, you would need to propose someplace special, someplace that reminds her of you and her. She's sentimental like that, ya know?" Ginny smiled at Draco. He looked thoughtful, then smiled.
"Thanks, Ginny. I really appreciate your insight. I think I know just the place." And with that, he jogged away leaving a grinning Ginny watching after him.
