Prologue
Explosive fanservice character!
(His name's Kacchan!)
Katsuki 'Kacchan' Bakugou never considered himself lucky. He was born with a flashy quirk that produced firecrackers from his palms that turned into explosions after some hard training. Being born with a powerful quirk was a definite sign from the universe he was destined to be the greatest, nothing to do with luck. Nothing or no one would get in his way. Not even his childhood friend 'Deku'.
It was a simpler time.
"Look Kacchan! It's All Might!"
"Hell yeah! He's the coolest!"
Both boys dreamed of becoming heroes together, to be the number one just like their idol. Then Katsuki's quirk manifested.
"Wow Kacchan your quirk is the coolest!" Even at a young age Izuku was fascinated by quirks.
Katsuki smirked, "Yeah I know, looks like you'll be the sidekick at our agency."
"What? But I thought we would be the number one heroes together?" Izuku asked innocently.
Katsuki gave a scowl,"Idiot we can't both be the number one together, you'll just have to support me as a sidekick from now on since I've got the cooler quirk." He finished with new found arrogance.
Izuku seemed unsure,"But my quirk hasn't even come in yet."
"And what makes you think it'll be cooler than mine?" Katsuki snided.
Izuku looked down,"Yeah I guess you're right." This started to happen more often, Katsuki didn't view Izuku as an equal. But Izuku knew once his quirk came he could convince Katsuki that he would make a great partner. No matter what quirk he got he knew he would have to work twice as hard to keep up with Katsuki. Maybe then his friend 'Kacchan' would act nice, or nicer really, again.
To Katsuki, he knew he had the power to be a hero on his own, no one would keep up with him. All Might was strong enough to defeat all the bad guys on his own. So it makes sense to Katsuki that he would have to get strong by himself, with Izuku's help of course, even All Might had sidekicks before. Izuku would just have to stand there and make him look good. All Izuku had to do was get a quirk.
But it never came.
"Did you hear about Midoriya?"
"The teachers say he's quirkless."
"It means he'll never have a quirk."
That ruined Katsuki's plan a bit, apparently useless Deku couldn't handle such a simple task. Maybe he could make himself useful by being his secretary handling all the paperwork. Izuku was at least smart enough to recognize Katsuki's greatness, always giving him praise. For that reason Katsuki was still willing to bring Izuku along on his road to be the best. He'll have to be the number one for both of them.
But Izuku became even more annoying to deal with after the news. Always clinging to him, following him around like a lost puppy. Staring at him with them big ol' eyes…
And then…the incident…
Katsuki, two cronies he never bothered learning the names of, and Izuku were exploring the woods, playing their hero agency game. They came across a fallen log acting as a bridge across a river. Katsuki decided to march forward despite the danger, to him a true hero is always willing to jump into danger. He walked halfway across the log when he slipped. He landed hard sure, but there was no real damage, a hero could shake off anything thrown at them. The two cronies were calling his name to see if he was alright.
'I was just fine on my own Deku'
When they saw he was alright the goons called,"Hurry and get back up here!"
"Sure, just give me one second." Katsuki made sure to let them know he was okay by smiling up at them.
'I didn't need your stupid help'
Izuku waded his way towards Katsuki then offered his hand. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
The smile dropped.
OOOOO
Chapter 2
Izuku and Katsuki
"After that day he was always scowling, only smiling with arrogance or when he beat me or 'put others in their place'." Izuku said he was laying on the couch staring at the ceiling.
"And how would you say that made you feel?" Tohru asked, sitting on the other couch, she was wearing round glasses while scratching on a notepad with a pencil.
Izuku turned to look at her,"I don't know…Angry? But not at him, I mean like…at myself I guess? I mean clearly I did something wrong that day, and trying to bring it up with him just makes things worse. It's gotten to the point where I just avoid him entirely, but I don't want to do that! I just want to know what I did wrong so I can apologize and we can be friends again."
The loud scribbling from Tohru's notepad stopped as she removed her glasses to look at him. "Have you ever considered that this 'Bakagou' kid-"
"Bakugou-"
"-lowly human is just not worth your time? From what I've heard you're obviously way better off without him. You should just forget he ever existed and watch as he disappears from your life...forever."
Izuku stared at Tohru for a while.
Then he stood up and made his way towards her. "Wait! No!" Tohru panicked. Too late, Izuku snatched the notepad from her hands.
There was only one sentence written, to 'Take care of Katsuki Bakugou', the rest of the notepad had 'DIE!' and 'SCUM' written all over it. Then there was a crude drawing of a stick figure with spiky hair getting incinerated by a dragon.
"Tohru…what is this?"
Tohru looked ashamed of herself, "You didn't give me much of a description besides the hair, so I didn't have much to work with-"
"No, Tohru…" Izuku interrupted, pinching his nose, "I meant why weren't you writing anything down? I thought you said you wanted to help me work out my problems."
"Us dragons tend to just…get rid of our problems... If you want my advice," Tohru put her glasses back on, as if to look more professional, "You should just hand me an address and I can make sure this Ketchup kid gets caught up in an 'accident'." She said, punctuating her sentence with air quotations.
"Tohru that's not going to happen."
Tohru sat up straight, "Oh, no, when I say 'accident' I meant I was gonna, on purpose, ki-"
"I know what you meant!" Izuku interrupted again, "I mean you're not going to be hurting anyone."
"Oh dammit! Not that rule again!" She complained, "I never get to have any fun!"
"Tohru-"
"I mean no offense to you Midoriya-san of course! Serving you is my purpose, what I meant was-" She tried to explain herself.
"Tohru, please, just promise me you won't hurt anyone unless necessary." Izuku explained slowly.
Tohru was already complaining again, "What?! I don't even get to torture him! You've got to be kidding-wait…" Tohru removed her glasses, she cleaned them then put them on again. "What do you mean 'unless necessary'?" She asked, leaning forward, clasping her hands in front of her face.
Izuku hesitated. "Oh, well, as you know we live in a world of a superhuman society, 80 percent of the population carries some sort of uncanny ability called quirks. In a world full of confusion and chaos the hero profession was born. Almost everyone has some sort of power, not just villains and heroes. So civilians are allowed to use their quirks in self defense." Izuku read, from some flash cards.
"But what if-"
"Only in self defense."
Tohru now took a thinking pose. "Do you have a quirk?"
An honest question, but it made Izuku tense up."Oh, um, I don't. I was born without one."
"Oh, Okay." She responded easily enough.
Izuku was a bit shocked, "You-does that not…bother you?"
She didn't seem upset, more like she moved on from the topic as if she started thinking about something else. "Should it? I told you already didn't I? Those quirk thingies started appearing shortly before I left earth. I'm more used to humans without any powers. Besides I'm like, the strongest dragon you'll ever meet, all you humans seem weak even with those fancy tricks!"
Izuku didn't know how to respond to that.
A lightbulb went off for Tohru, "So the reason you don't fight back against catsup key is because you don't have a power of your own?"
"What? No…" Izuku said with mild panic.
"Then what you need is a bodyguard! I have a variety of different spells to crush that low-life if need be!"
"What?! No!" Izuku cried out with full panic. "It wouldn't be considered self defense if you use an excessive amount of violence! Not to mention any public quirk usage of any kind would be extremely illegal if your quirk isn't even registered! You don't even have any identification, proof of existence!"
"Oh, you mean this?" Documents poofed into Tohru's hand.
"..."
"..."
"...and you would need a quirk license, there are some licenses for occupations besides hero work, but they're rare. I don't know what kind of exams you would have to take…"
She closed her eyes for a moment, then two licenses appeared in her hand. Handing them to Izuku, he read what they said. "Private patrol operator and, Concealed quirk carry permit?" He looked at them, then flipped from front to back. "Is this, uh, legal?"
Tohru shrugged her shoulders, "I can make them legal."
Not sure how to respond to that, he decided to move on. "Wait, you also need to fill out a quirk registry."
She closed her eyes again for a moment. Then she looked up a bit flustered, "Uh, could you help me with that one? I don't know what you would put down on a quirk registry."
'Neither do I…'
Summoning a registry document, she handed it to Izuku. "Okay, you've got the name and address down, all you really need is the name of the quirk and description. Any ideas?"
She puffed out her chest, "Quirk:Dragon! I'm a dragon!"
"That's…too vague. I guess we could say that your quirk allows you to transform into a dragon. You'll just have to keep from showing your other abilities in public."
Tohru was not pleased with this. "No! I want other people to know what I'm capable of. I can be a better bodyguard if everyone else knows not to mess with me." 'Plus I could legally get away with anything if I have to take care of any enemies.' She thought with a wolfish (dragon-y?) grin, thinking of ways to get rid of kitchen kid.
Izuku, ignoring that look, said, "I don't think that's possible. There's no way people won't ask questions. We could get away with saying you have two quirks, maybe three max, but a higher number of quirks than that would be impossible for any human to hold."
"There's gotta be some other way." Tohru said, wanting to be as efficient as possible, and maybe show off a little, for Izuku's sake.
"The only way someone could seemingly have multiple quirks is if they found multiple uses for the same quirk." He explained, sometimes the more powerful quirks are the versatile ones. He remembered when Katsuki found a way to make a stun grenade effect with his quirk and thought it was the coolest thing ever.
"Well there you go! Let's use that!"
Izuku started brainstorming. He fetched his latest analysis notebook, 'Tohru's spells analysis for the future'.
"All we need is a quick description that explains away all your abilities. That way, we won't need to explain them all every time you're seen using a new skill. What sort of power would allow you to turn into a dragon and perform an array of different miracles? First of all, what is magic power exactly?" Izuku flipped to the first page in his notebook, ready to update the information. If he could get an understanding of how Tohru's power works he could probably come up with a believable quirk description. It's not like quirks need a scientific explanation, he could probably get away with anything.
"In my world, magic is a power made by taking mana from the atmosphere, then processing and storing it in your body. This world has no mana though, so you would have to get the power from other sources, like food or electricity."
"So you gather 'energy' from the air and create spells… I guess that would be similar to someone whose quirk allows them to gather moisture from the air and produce water spouts. We don't have to explain what sort of energy you're gathering, I don't think…"
"Oh, I'm a special case. I can produce mana directly in my own body. From there I can use magic to make spells and enhance my strength by covering my body with it."
"Woah! That's amazing! That could make things easier to say your quirk produces its own energy for your skills." Izuku quickly got to writing. 'Tohru's quirk (name pending): The user has a stockpile of energy in their body used to enhance physical abilities and cast magic spells'.
Izuku winced, yeah that doesn't seem believable now that it's in written form. If a quirk like that actually existed he would love to see it.
Tohru looked at what he wrote, "I love it! You even kept the phrase magic spell!"
Izuku nodded, "Yeah, saying 'magic spells' will make it seem like you're only capable of small parlor tricks rather than anything noteworthy."
Tohru looked at Izuku, "Okay now I don't like it."
Izuku chuckled, "Come on, don't be like that. This way we won't have the government or the HPSC breathing down our necks. Basic strength enhancement is sort of common so I'm sure they will overlook your quirk in the database." Sure Tohru's strength could probably rival All Might's but no one needed to know that. "Now we just need a name, Dragon is already taken so you'll have to come up with something else." He said, as he tried to come up with ideas for a name in case Tohru suggested something outlandish.
Tohru looked threatened, "It's taken?! What's that supposed to mean?! There's a first come, first served rule for that kind of stuff?!"
Izuku put his hands up as if trying to tame a velociraptor. "Quirks without a name are designated a default name from a list of words or phrases that describe a quirk. Like 'super-power' for strength enhancement or 'speed' for speed boost." He made a quick internet search, "Dragon isn't on the list, it's currently held by the dragoon hero Ryukyu. For a quirk name to be added to the default list there had to be a lot of individuals with similar quirks. Like if there were a lot of people with frog mutations the quirk name 'frog' or 'frog form' could be added. Ryukyu is the only person with a quirk that could be considered a dragon quirk, a second person with a dragon transformation appearing would have to settle with a more unique name. You can't just use the word dragon, you'd have to add more to it to better describe how your quirk is unique to someone else's 'dragon'."
Tohru started thinking, "What makes me unique? Oh! I'm a maid, so my quirk name will be 'Dragon Maid'!" Izuku sweat dropped at her odd choice but couldn't say no to her enthusiasm. No way that name was taken so it should work. After filling out the info he handed the paper to Tohru. The document then disappeared to be processed, or something…
"Now we just have to wait for the paperwork to be handled and you'll officially be registered with a quirk."
Tohru looked like she was going to start complaining again, "Wait, I have to wait? How long?" She asked desperately, she never felt so enticed to show off her power in public until now. She never had a reason to before, not because of the rule against magical beings interfering with earth, but because her previous master, Miss Kobayashi, actively asked her not to. Tohru knew Kobayashi just wanted to live a quiet life but she was always prepared to take over the world if asked. Now though, Tohru wanted to make sure Izuku knew to rely on her to slaughter his enemies if need be. She wanted to show him how reliable she can be by 'taking care' of his 'Kacchow' friend as soon as possible.
Izuku misunderstood the reason for her impatience however, "I promise you can fly me with your dragon form, but for now I'll just use the subway. I know you can hide your presence but that would still be illegal. For now you'll just have to be patient, Okay?"
Tohru's glasses practically fell off her face, 'perception blocking'? Of course, the answer was right in front of her.
Izuku tried to ignore the grin that was splitting Tohru's face. Tomorrow was barely Wednesday, and it already felt like the longest week of his life.
OOOOO
Izuku made it to class and took his seat, his desk was at the very back of the class in the corner. In front of him was an empty seat, to his right sat Katsuki of all people, and to his left was the window begging for his attention. He sighed, being isolated figuratively from society was bad enough, now he was isolated literally in school. No one got close to him, he could see the sneers and condescending looks they sent him. Figures Katsuki would make his quirkless nature known before the end of the week. Oh well, at least Katsuki wasn't initiating some sort of confrontation.
Katsuki walked up to Izuku's desk, "Hey, nerd."
Oh boy…
Tohru was standing outside of Aldera junior high, with her hands on her hips she took some time to scan her future battleground. She cast the blocking spell, 'All right, time to study the cat ski kid for his weaknesses. That and I want to see my boy at school at least once.' She put her hands on her cheeks, gushing like a proud mother about how smart Izuku must be. 'He must be popular with his classmates, they must flock to him for his intellect the same way Kanna got all those kids to follow her back in her school days.' She thought.
Reaching his classroom, she slid the door open a crack to peek inside. She spotted Izuku at the back, her view of him was blocked by some dumb spiky haired blonde ki- 'Oh hell no…'
She entered the room to engage but remembered her stealth mission. If she got caught she could get Izuku in trouble because of those new quirk laws, and she didn't have her friend Lucoa to erase people's memories. 'Sure she taught me the spell, but… I forgot how to use it.' She had no real use for it since she was in the other world for over a century. Maybe the other students can help her kid if things get confrontational.
Katsuki sneered at Izuku, as if talking to literal trash, "You had a good summer or something? You look a lot more happy these past few days than you did the last few years, it's pissing me off. Obviously you've forgotten your place." He emphasized his words with small crackles from his palms. "Listen, Deku, you got lucky,"
'I don't feel lucky.'
"I'm aiming for UA meaning I need a clean record, I won't waste my time taking out trash like you. But I can't have you thinking you're worth something." He growled, as if it was Izuku's fault he had to waste his time on someone so useless.
The other kids were watching from the sidelines, whispering taunts about Izuku and giggling to themselves. 'So the same type of bullying just without the beatings? That might make things easier to deal with… Wait, have I been looking happier lately?'
With his piece said, Katsuki walked to his desk. Immediately he tripped on nothing and fell on his face. The other kids started snickering but immediately stopped when Katsuki shot his head up with murder in his eyes. Tohru for her part was also livid, she couldn't help herself and tripped Katsuki. It made her feel a little better but she was still angry, not just at Katsuki but at the other students as well. 'What the hell is wrong with these kids, why do they treat Izuku like a social outcast?'
Katsuki was also livid at the other students but for a different reason. 'Dammit, who's the sorry sonuvabitch?' He couldn't afford making a scene right now right before class started. He got to his seat and started scanning the room. He would settle for having a 'talk' with whoever was responsible for his trip after school. As he looked around he realized none of the other kids had quirks that could be discreet enough to catch him off guard. The only quirk that could pull this prank off would be invisibility or telekinesis, but no one here has a quirk like that. Katsuki's eyes widened, and glanced at Izuku's direction. He remembered that Izuku's mother had telekinesis, 'That little… Is that what got him so giddy recently? How is that even possible he was quirkless. Unless… He faked being quirkless, he was lying this whole time!' It was starting to make sense, Izuku always looked down on him since they were kids. Now he knew why, the bastard thought he had the better quirk. Now he thought he was safe in middle school, free to mess with Katsuki all he wanted. 'If that's what he thinks he's got another thing coming!'
Izuku, unaware of the death glare aimed at him, grimaced to himself. 'That was Tohru wasn't it.' He definitely needed a talk with her after school, hopefully nothing will come up that will distract him.
Something came up, as soon as classes ended for the day Katsuki asked nicely for a talk on the roof. "Get your ass to the roof nerd!" Izuku gulped audibly, the rest of the class knew something was about to happen but didn't make a move to intervene. Tohru was even more aggravated with the other kids, she's lost hope on them at this point. As soon as Izuku gathered enough courage he made his way out the classroom towards the school roof. Tohru moved to follow, if anything were to happen she was planning to intervene, laws be damned.
Izuku met Katsuki on the roof, the tension was high as soon as they made eye contact. "You.."
Katsuki started, eerily calm, his voice impossibly quiet for someone with a reputation of screaming during conversations. His hands in his pockets, his way of lowering his guard Izuku noticed, like a gunslinger holstering his gun. "How long… HOW LONG!... Have you had a quirk?"
Izuku blinked, "What are you talking about?"
"DON'T! … Don't give me that crap! You know what I'm talking about, the little stunt you pulled this morning!" He was getting angrier with every word.
'Ah…' He was talking about Tohru, 'He must've thought that it was me that did that.' Izuku put his hands up defensively, "That wasn't me Kacchan, you know I'm quirkless. Still am…" He tried to explain, as if it would magically make things better. It didn't, it was making things worse.
"Still lying… You've been lying to me all these years haven't you. You've been looking down on me with pity in your eyes all this time because you thought you were better than me, didn't you?!"
'What?'
"Listen here, DEKU, I don't care what sort of quirk you have, you'll always be the same worthless deku with or without one. I don't care if you start showing off like your hot shit, but if you think you can get away with making me look like an idiot as some sort of petty revenge, then I just have to make sure you learn your lesson right here!"
"NO! I told you it wasn't me it was…" Izuku stopped himself, he couldn't admit Tohru was in the classroom, she had been using her magic illegally to get into the classroom, they could get in serious trouble. 'Maybe I should just admit I did it with my foot… I was close enough while sitting on my desk anyway…' He wanted to explain himself with that excuse but realized Katsuki would see through the lie and get even more pissed with him.
"Shut up already! I knew you couldn't go a week without deserving another beating anyway, we might as well get it over with!" Izuku realized both of Katsuki's hands were in battle mode for a while now, sparking and building up more sweat for a decisive blow. Katsuki launched himself at Izuku, reeling his arm back for a right hook like he always did. Izuku's arms were now in a defensive position like they always did with these confrontations. What didn't happen like it always did however was the explosion to the face.
Izuku slowly opened his eyes to look, he gasped and opened them fully at what he was seeing. Tohru appeared right in front of him and stopped the blow with one hand. She was absolutely livid, steaming with anger, her unoccupied right hand shifted into claws ready to strike. "Tohru?! You're-" He was suddenly cut off when her tail wrapped around his body, then covering his mouth silencing him. "Mmph!" He tried calling desperately to get her to stand down but her grip was too tight to speak.
"What the hell?... What the fuck?!" Katsuki started, just as he was about to put Deku down this blonde bitch appeared right in front of him from thin air. 'Wait… She appeared from thin air?' "So it was you that happened back at the classroom." He didn't ask, he simply stated. "What, you got some useless invisibility quirk to go with that freak mutation?"
Tohru forcibly threw his hand away, as if touching it disgusted her. "Don't you dare hurt Izuku if you want to keep those hands!"
Katsuki scoffed, "Oh yeah? And who are you supposed to be?" Katsuki didn't really care about Izuku's private life, but he would be lying if he said he wasn't a bit curious about the person who stopped his attack with little effort. He wasn't threatened or anything dumb like that… No really.
Tohru really wanted to wipe this stain away and get it over with but she knew Izuku would get mad. "I'm his mo- I mean- I'm his maid! I'm also his bodyguard, so as long as I'm around you better not even think about hurting my boy!"
Katsuki was a bit surprised but pressed on, "So Deku acknowledged how weak he is and hired some circus freak? What, you're too scared to go to the grocery store without holding your nanny's hand?" He taunted the quirkless boy. Izuku for his part was still struggling in the tail hold. "Finally admitting how weak and useless you are, that you need some help."
Tohru either didn't acknowledge she was being insulted or she didn't notice. "Ha! Izuku doesn't need my help, I bet if he put his mind to it he could beat you in a fight any day!"
Now Katsuki wanted to laugh, "Yeah right! That skinny wimp?! He couldn't beat me in a million years!" Katsuki provoked.
"Mmph!" Izuku said, wanting to deescalate the situation.
"You wanna bet?!" Tohru said, escalating the situation, "I bet if I personally trained Izuku he'll be strong enough to beat you!"
Katsuki scoffed again, "That loser? He wouldn't come close to being competent enough even if you gave him a year."
Tohru scoffed back, "Oh please, a year? Izuku could do it in two months!"
"$#&%?!" Izuku continued to struggle.
Katsuki was less pissed now, "One month and-"
Tohru interrupted, "Three weeks!"
Izuku managed to free his head, "TOHRU STOP!"
Katsuki continued, "Fine, three weeks and he's dead. When I win he'll give up his dream of going to UA. And don't deny it, I know you're still desperately clinging on to false hope with those stupid journals of yours! If anyone's going to that school and out of this dump, it's gonna be me!" He pointed an accusing finger at Izuku.
"Wait, I-" Izuku was interrupted by Tohru's tail again.
"Alright and when Izuku wins you have to… Ugh, you have to… be friends with him again…" Tohru said with disgust.
"...?" Izuku was confused by what he just heard.
Katsuki raised an eyebrow, "Friends? Really? What do you think this is some lighthearted fanfiction? Why would I be friends with that dork?"
Tohru rolled her eyes, "Fine whatever, but you have to at least acknowledge him as an equal and talk to him like a normal person. Whatever bad blood there is between you two I want you guys to talk it out." Tohru didn't want to help amend whatever friendship they had. She figured if the two talked it out Izuku would finally realize Katsuki was just a lost cause and cut him from his life.
"Fine, whatever, there's not going to be a talk anyways. I'll just be glad for that idiot to finally get it through his head that he won't have a chance in this world."
"You say that like he has no chance."
"He's weak, he has no chance at being a hero."
Tohru looked offended, "He'll be a better hero than you. He'll be the best hero."
"..." Izuku couldn't believe someone would have faith in him like that, 'Does she really think that? That I can be a hero?'
"And how is he going to do that? With your training? What are you going to teach him how to clean?" Katsuki mocked.
"You'll see…" Tohru said ominously, she began to glow and grow in height into her dragon form. She gently placed Izuku on her back. She gave Katsuki one last look and snarled, then she flapped her wings and took off.
Katsuki watched as they flew away out of sight. "Huh, well that just happened." He shoved his hands back in his pockets and left the roof.
Back at the apartment Izuku was pacing back and forth in the living room. Tohru was seated on the couch, "Well that wasn't so bad…"
"Not so bad?" Izuku turned towards her, "That was terrible! Why did you do that? He's going to kill me! Even worse, he's going to hate me even more than usual."
Tohru rolled her eyes, "Do you hear yourself Izuku? You don't need someone like that. I just wanted to show you how much better off you are without him in your life. Once I'm done with you, you'll be hero material for sure!"
"...Do you really think I can be a hero?" He asked.
"Of course!" She responded easily enough.
"I…Thank you…" He still couldn't believe what he was hearing, were her words genuine? She wasn't from this world, does she believe her own words?
"Don't thank me yet, save that for after the fight!"
"How do you expect me to fight him, much less beat him?" The panic was setting in again.
"Don't worry Izuku, you'll be strong enough to beat any human after you go through my patented dragon training course!"
"How are you going to train me?" He asked.
"...Oh, uh… I don't remember how humans train their bodies. Hold on, I might need to call someone for assistance." She pulled out her phone, the first time Izuku had seen it, a magic circle appeared on the phone as it started ringing.
Someone answered, "Hello? Tohru? Did you need something?"
Izuku heard a female voice from the other side, 'A friend? Is she also an otherworlder? Wait, is she also a dragon?'
"Hey Elma! Remember that kid I told you about, the one I'm staying with?"
"The tiny human you're trying to keep for yourself?"
Tohru flinched, she coughed loudly, "(Elma you're on speaker phone.) Ahem. He needs to get stronger for a fight, and since you understand human limits better than me, I was wondering if you were willing to help me train him for the next three weeks." Izuku wanted to protest, not wanting to bother someone else with his problems, but Tohru put her hand up to stop him from saying anything.
"Ah geez Tohru, I don't know. All my trips to Earth these past few years were purely for business. You'd have to make it worth my while if you want me to stay there for more than one night…"
Tohru rolled her eyes, "We've got food-"
"All right you've convinced me!" Tohru muttered something like 'simple-minded dragon' under her breath.
Elma continued, "But I still need a few days to sort out some stuff over here, you know, since everyone thinks you're dead again."
"Yeah… Sorry about that."
"Eh, it's fine, at least you told me you were alive this time. I'll be there Sunday but for now… You! Human!"
Izuku immediately stood up straight, "Uh, yeah?"
"In the meantime I need you to start your own stretch exercise routine, you know, to get your body nimble. Me and Tohru won't go easy on you!"
Tohru seemed surprised, "Oh? You need my- It's 'Tohru and I' by the way- you need help? I'm not sure there's much I can help with besides handling his diet."
"Of course you can help! Can you imagine how strong a human can get with two dragons as his sparring partners!"
Izuku jumped, "Sparring!"
Tohru gave Izuku a look over, "Yeah you would need as much training as possible to reach the deadline, I mean no offense Izuku but you're like a twig-"
"I'M TWELVE!"
"You'll need to work twice as hard with such a short amount of time, honestly why did you set the deadline to three weeks-"
"You did that!"
"But I know we can make a man out of you if we work together!" She pumped her first.
Elma continued, "Don't worry human, I'll make sure you don't die."
"Die?!"
"Alright bye! Remember Tohru, my favorite type of sweets are-" Tohru hung up.
"Okay, with Elma's help we should have you in shape. In healthy shape, not sure about fighting shape. But looking at you I'm guessing you've never worked out before in your life."
"Well that's a little unfair… I sometimes run around town chasing hero fights… Or I run from bullies… Sometimes I run on the beach while crying for no real reason…"
"What I was trying to say is, if we get you physically fit you should have a chance in the fight. I've seen your notes, you are extremely talented in analysis, you can figure out people's weaknesses almost instantly. All you need is the brawn to back up your brains, and lucky for you you've got two of them, me and Elma! You'll beat your bully and become a hero Izuku!"
"When did you start calling me by first name?" Tohru ignored the question.
It was starting to hit Izuku. Was he really doing this? Was he actually going to start training to be a hero? Sure it was his only goal in life but the only thing he's done to prepare for the future was his note taking. Was his fight with Kacchan going to be his first real step into becoming a hero? 'I guess everything was happening so fast, I still need time to process this, hopefully there's no more surprises this week.'
That Saturday his mom brought a surprise for him.
"Dad?!"
And another one.
"Wait, we're leaving?"
His mom came back from a job interview, Izuku realized he never asked her why she left for the week. His parents had been frequenting an office building in Tokyo and staying in a hotel. She had gotten the job, which was with his dad, in America…
"So…we have to leave Musutafu…" Was he just unlucky? Just as his plans to be a hero finally start, he has to leave his dream school behind. Maybe there were better school options in America. Would Tohru follow him?
Inko was trying to calm him down. "We know you don't want to leave our home, our original plan was for you to stay with the Bakugou's."
"That was her plan actually…" Hisashi interrupted, Inko glared.
"We weren't going to pull you from school just as you started, you would have stayed here for another year then moved in with us. But now that you've found Kobayashi-san," Just as she said that Tohru served the tea she had prepared. "You can stay here."
"How did you two meet again?" Hisashi asked.
"Izuku found me in the forest with a sword in my back." Tohru responded, taking a seat next to Izuku.
"And you said you were a dragon-"
"From another world, yes." Tohru finished.
"Huh, neat." Hisashi took a sip of tea.
'Just like that?!' Izuku thought.
Inko brought the conversation back, "Well I know this goes without saying but, please take good care of Izuku, Kobayashi-san."
Tohru rubbed the back of her neck, "Oh no need to be so formal, just Tohru is fine. And don't worry about Izuku, I'll treat him like my own child." Izuku tried not to roll his eyes. "In fact, tomorrow we're starting his hero training!"
("Please try not to mention the fight." Izuku whispered. "Don't worry, I know." Tohru gave a subtle thumbs up.)
His parents didn't notice the conversation, they were busy exchanging glances, each dealing with their own mental struggle. "So you're…starting on your hero training." Inko spoke slowly, it wasn't a topic they brought up in years and she wasn't sure how to continue.
Izuku misunderstood her hesitance for apprehension, "Well…um, I… I just thought-"
"Izuku it's fine, we understand." Inko tried to comfort him. "I know I haven't been the most…encouraging, but I want you to know I love you and will support you from now on."
Hisashi joined the conversation. "We believe in you son! Anything you need we'll be here… Well not here, we'll be overseas- what I meant was you have our support-" Inko elbowed him to stop him from mumbling.
"Mom, dad…" Izuku didn't know what to say.
"I promise from now on we'll support you every step of the way. And no matter what happens, you'll always be our hero."
Tohru quickly learned that the Midoriya's were serious criers and huggers. The family hug lasted for five minutes now and they were still sobbing. 'I feel like I'm missing context.'
Inko noticed her standing awkwardly, "Tohru come here you're part of the family now, you can join in."
Tohru's eyes lit up, "Really?! Yay! Family hug!" Her arms shifted into giant dragon limbs and swooped all three Midoriya's into a warm embrace.
It was lunchtime by the time they were done.
"So when are you two leaving?" Izuku asked.
"We were going to leave in a week, to help you get things settled, but since Tohru's here now we can probably leave tomorrow." Inko explained.
Hisashi groaned, "Ah man, we gotta wake up early just to start our day with a flight trip?"
Tohru's wings flexed behind her body, "Well if you're not willing to fly a plane, I could-"
Izuku interrupted, "Uh, Tohru I don't think that's a good idea."
"What? Why not?"
"Um, because, uh…Oh! They have luggage to bring! Their arms would be too occupied and your dragon form isn't easy to grab on to to begin with."
Tohru started to pout, but then got an idea. "Ooh, I know. I can just fly to their new place then open a portal from there to here."
Izuku was intrigued, "Woah! Really?!"
"My portals are limited to placing down magic markers. I would have to visit the place first then remember to place a marker, then after that your parents will be able to visit whenever I open the portal."
Inko was more than thankful, "Tohru that's incredible! And so thoughtful, thank you so much!"
"Don't be afraid to ask for a portal back whenever you want." Tohru said.
"We'll be sure to take you up on that offer. This is wonderful, now we can visit Izuku whenever we want!"
Hisashi nodded, "Yeah! But due to time zones, our visits will probably be limited…"
Oh. Right.
They decided to put that thought away for now. Tohru was handed the address and took off promising to be back quickly. The Midoriya family decided to spend the day together for some quality family bonding time. They wanted to spend as much of the day making up for lost time. They planned for a family outing.
"But first," Hisashi said, turning to Izuku, "I want to have a look at your hero collection. You've been hyping it up the past few years, I'd like to see it in person." Hisashi wasn't as big of a hero fan as his son, but it was his favorite subject to talk about with Izuku. Even if most of their video calls involved Izuku quizzing him on hero knowledge. (Most of Hisashi's coworkers had asked him to help pick out birthday gifts for their children because of his wisdom.)
Izuku was excited to have someone to show his collection to. He opened his bedroom door to give the exhibition. "Wow, you weren't kiddi- Is that a body pillow of-"
"Alright everyone out!" Izuku quickly ended the tour.
It was late afternoon by the time they returned home from their outing. They decided to finish the day with a movie night. Just as their movie was finished a portal opened in their living room. Tohru walked in, she was covered in dirt and muck, but looked fine overall, behind her was the front door of an apartment.
Izuku walked up to her with concern, "Oh my god Tohru, are you alright? You've been gone all day."
Tohru cleansed herself with magic, "I'm fine, just…ran into a sticky situation." She said it so stoically.
Izuku looked at her in confusion, "Was that a joke or something? I feel like I'm missing context."
His parents had returned with their bags ready to say their goodbyes. They had yet another crying family hug that lasted a while. Inko said, "Be good Izuku, call us if you need anything." Before she could start crying again she turned towards his dragon maid, "And Tohru, I can't thank you enough for all you've done for us."
Tohru flustered a bit, "Oh it's nothing."
Hisashi stepped in, "It's not nothing! You've done a lot, thank you. You're definitely coming with us for our next family vacation."
Tohru excitedly said, "Ooh! How about a road trip? I can give you guys a ride!"
Izuku chuckled, "What? Are you going to fly us around?"
"No I meant in a car, I can drive silly!"
"Oh…okay…" He was not aware of that.
The two of them watched the parents step through the portal. Hisashi unlocked the front door to their apartment, "Ah home sweet home! Cannot wait to fall asleep until the early afternoon!" Oh right, time zones. They turned towards Izuku and Tohru one last time.
Tears were threatening to spill for every Midoriya, Inko said, "Be good Izuku, remember we love you."
The boy and his maid started waving goodbye, Tohru said, "Bye! It was nice meeting you two! I'll be sure to send you the adoption papers for Izuku."
"...What?"
The portal closed. Izuku turned towards Tohru unimpressed.
"Do you think your parents would mind if we invited Elma to stay here? I was honestly just gonna have her live on the streets during your training." She didn't sound like she was joking.
Izuku had almost forgotten about the bet. Starting tomorrow he would start his training, not just for the fight but for his (maybe) future hero career. "I-uh, think I should go to bed now." He just wanted to lay in his bed and think about his life so far. He had a feeling it was about to get complicated (again).
OOOOO
"Tohru, where are we?" Izuku and Tohru were standing on an empty field, "Are we still in japan?"
Izuku had been woken up abruptly that morning for his first day of training. Tohru had slammed his door open at the crack of dawn and smashed his All Might alarm clock (it wasn't even ringing). He found himself in his green jumpsuit and standing on an unknown field.
Tohru (who had decided to wear a matching jumpsuit) turned towards him, "Elma likes to make an entrance for her first impression. I told her to meet us here so that she wouldn't destroy your apartment upon entry."
"What?" Izuku shook his head, 'Must be a dragon thing.' "What time did you ask to meet?"
Tohru checked her phone for the time, "Like five minutes ag-oh… Son of a-!"
Thirty seconds later Tohru was dragging an unknown woman by her ear through a hastily made portal. Tohru had forced the poor woman into a dogeza, "Apologize!"
The woman, who Izuku now realized must be Elma, looked up and was close to tears. "Do I have to? You already fixed-"
"That's not the point!"
"Okay, o-okay. Um, I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to witness my formal greeting-"
"Elma!"
Believe it or not, this went on for another three and half minutes. Finally Izuku said, "I-it's fine, really. I'm sure you didn't mean it."
Tohru scoffed, "Only because she doesn't think."
Now Elma really was crying, "Come on Tohru! Don't make me look bad in front of the teenager! You know those are the humans that terrify me the most!"
"I'm twelve, so technically a pre-teen." Izuku tried to assuage her.
Elma started standing up, wiping away the tears. "Oh, okay" She sniffled a bit. "I guess I can work with that. It works that you're so cute too." She smiled a bit. Tohru immediately grabbed hold of Izuku, possessively.
Izuku pushed himself off of Tohru (much to her dismay) and addressed Elma, "Speaking of which, what kind of training will we be doing?"
The answer was 'dragon training', which is to say roughhousing. But their version of roughhousing was apparently 'battle to the death'. Izuku could've sworn they were actually trying to kill each other after the third crater. "I'm going to die here…" Tohru and Elma walked up to him, barely winded despite the hardcore epic battle he just witnessed.
Elma said, "Sorry about that. We had to blow off some steam."
"She wanted to show off." Tohru said.
"So did you! A-anyways, I just wanted to show you what some humans are capable of back on our planet. Now that humanity has quirks, they're on an even playing field. If you want to be a harmony dragon-" Tohru stopped Elma and whispered into her ear, Elma looked surprised, "Oh! We're here for hero training. Well I'm pretty sure it's the same thing, both professions are for maintaining peace. With us two you should be able to learn how to fight opponents far stronger than you. Because of your bet, and because I'm using vacation days, I'll be giving you a crash course for the next three weeks. After that I'll expect you to continue your training."
Izuku bowed gratefully, "Thank you so much Miss Elma! I'll make you proud!"
Elma blushed a bit, "Oh there's no need for that! Just Elma is fine, and you can thank me after you've won your fight."
Izuku stood straight, flashing her his best smile, "Okay, Elma!"
Tohru pouted, "I'm not jealous…" No one was asking.
The first week was spent with personal training from Elma, paired with light exercise. Elma taught Izuku basic stuff like how to throw a punch without breaking your hand. Up until that point Izuku had never even thrown a punch before. The daily exercise started out light but were getting more intense, because Elma wanted to start teaching more evasive maneuvers for the second week. During the two weeks Tohru made sure he was well fed, his appetite was increasing by the day. Every couple days she fed him a dish made from tail meat. By the end of week two Izuku was able to finish an entire tail, surprising both him and Tohru.
Tohru giggled, "Ehehe! I knew you liked me, Izuku!"
'Is tail eating an intimate act between dragons? ...oh that sounded wrong...'
While the training was hell, Izuku kept his motivation purely on the fact that he wasn't dead yet. By the start of the third week he was confident that he would be able to keep up for this week. As long as Elma doesn't throw him a curveball.
Elma greeted Izuku for the day, "All right we're almost done! For this last week we will both be sparring with you at the same time."
He swore he had a stroke. "What?! That can't be practical!"
"Don't worry, we'll go easy on you! Remember you've got a week left, the fastest way I can get you to be a fighter would be through experience."
"By having two dragons gang up on me!"
Elma was trying to reassure him, "Don't think of it like that. Think of this as, getting to take on two beautiful women at once!"
Tohru winked, "You lucky dog!"
Izuku gulped.
Meanwhile somewhere else.
A purple midget clutched his head in pain,
"I felt…a disturbance…"
OOOOO
The fateful day for the fated rivals was here. Izuku and Katsuki met up at the school courtyard after classes. Izuku didn't think it was a good idea to fight at school, but figured that the teachers probably wouldn't care. 'I've only been here for a month, but I've already lost faith in these teachers.'
Katsuki eyed his opponent, remembering how he actually bothered to train for this fight. Not that he needed it, but he wanted to kill 'Deku' hard enough to finally teach him a lesson. He glared at Izuku, after a short pause the bastard had the gall to glare back. 'This little… He's been training, hasn't he?' Katsuki couldn't tell if Izuku was standing up straighter or if he had gotten taller. He looked towards the supposed dragon. She was standing off to the side, spectating the fight. 'No way any type of training would help someone in three weeks. What did she really do to him?'
Tohru wasn't an expert on humans, but even she knew the effects of Izuku's training were unlikely to happen in such a short amount of time. She remembered the conversation with Elma before she left.
Izuku laid sprawled on the living room floor, for their last day his two trainers decided to up the intensity. He was dead tired, but he still grinned with pride for surviving the three weeks. Tohru looked at him amused, beaming with pride. Elma was proud too of course, her first human trainee and he didn't die! But she still had some skepticism she finally decided to bring up.
She pulled Tohru aside, making sure Izuku couldn't hear them, "Tohru, I don't mean to accuse you or Izuku of anything, but are you sure he's quirkless?"
Tohru was understandingly confused, "Of course, he told me about the pinky toe joint."
Elma raised an eyebrow, "Meaning?"
Tohru shrugged, "I don't know, but that's like a big deal for quirkless apparently."
Elma glanced at Izuku again, "Are you sure he's human?"
Now Tohru was starting to get upset, "What?! Of course! He tastes human enough!"
"I didn't mean to make you upset, it's just that… I mean, I didn't think he could make so much progress in such a short amount of time, it's…inhuman."
"What are you saying?" Tohru responded slowly, glaring, threateningly.
"Is he magic?" Elma decided to ask quickly, as if ripping a bandage.
Tohru sobered a bit, "What? No. I don't sense any magic in him. Why would you think that?"
Elma explained carefully, "The sword…The holy sword."
Tohru's expression softened, starting to understand, "No, he doesn't have it. After he pulled it out he passed out from sleep deprivation for like five minutes. I used that time to gather my strength to get rid of it."
Elma frowned, "Don't you think that's a bit unfair to him?"
Tohru shook her head, "I had no way of knowing he wanted to be a hero at the time. Even if I knew I wouldn't let him absorb that power, I don't think his body would have been able to handle it. I still don't know how he managed to touch it long enough to pull it out…"
"Still though, that doesn't explain his fast progress."
Tohru shrugged again, "He's motivated?"
Elma was really baffled, "There's no way magic wasn't involved. Did he have any magic interaction before he met you?"
"Not that I know of."
"Any magic in the family?"
"No. I met his parents."
"Any magic happenings right now?"
Tohru contemplated, "What, you mean the personal training? I mean, I'm sure any other human would've died, but we did go easy on him you know? The only other thing I can think about would be the tail dishes I fed him."
Elma grabbed Tohru by the shoulders, "You've been feeding him your tail?!"
"Yeah, why? Should I have not done that?"
Tohru shook her head, remembering where she was. She drew a circle around the two opponents. "Rules are simple, you fight until one of you falls out of the ring or if you're knocked out.
Katsuki scowled, "I hope you remembered our bet, you'll quit being a hero after this."
Izuku shook his head, "The bet was I'll stop aiming for UA. I still plan on becoming a hero no matter what happens here."
"Tch." Katsuki couldn't care less.
Izuku frowned, "Why are you so against the idea? Do you think I have no chance without a quirk?"
"You're powerless, weak, a pebble on the side of the road." Katsuki raised his arms, ready to attack. Izuku's eyes widened at what he just heard.
Tohru just wanted to get the fight over with. "Ready?" She raised her arm, they gave no response but the look in their eyes told her enough. "Go!"
Just like always Katsuki started with a right hook, ready to end things quickly. Izuku almost raised his arms instinctively, but steeled himself.
Katsuki launched his arm, "Die!"
But Izuku caught it.
"Wha-!"
Izuku held his arm tight, spun his body and threw Katsuki over his shoulder, slamming the boy onto the dirt. Katsuki looked at his feet, almost touching the circle. The fight nearly ended right there in one move. He launched himself upwards with an explosion, then with another burst spun himself to kick Izuku. But Izuku blocked the spin kick with his arms.
Katsuki was growling at Izuku, almost threatened by the fact that he was nearly beaten. He stopped when he saw the look in Izuku's eyes. Katsuki dropped the kick and blasted himself above Izuku and onto the middle of the circle.
Izuku turned towards him slowly, "Is that what you think of me? A pebble? Is that how you view everyone, like they're beneath you?" He asked slowly, voice filling with hostility. "Is that how a hero thinks? That they're above everyone?"
"What would you know about being a hero?" Katsuki launched himself at him.
Izuku dodged a blow and punched Katsuki across the face. "More than you!"
Tohru silently pumped her first, not wanting to interrupt.
Katsuki was only stunned for a second. Immediately he sweeped Izuku's legs, grabbed him by the shirt and threw him with an explosion towards the center of the circle. He did not want to end the fight just yet.
"Is that what you think?" Katsuki interrogated, "That you know more than me? That it gives you the right to look down on me all these years?"
Izuku groaned, rolling around on his back. 'What is he talking about?'
Katsuki walked up and grabbed the front of his shirt. "It's the same shit since we were kids! You see me as some helpless idiot! Because I don't share the same righteous belief as you!"
He picked Izuku up and set him on his feet. He kept hold of him with one arm while punching him with the other.
"Heroes beat the villains! Always! The strongest win in the end! Always! They do it on their own! Always! They don't need help, they shouldn't need help! I didn't need your help in that river and you should never think I ever needed help!"
Izuku's mind was reeling from continuous blows to the face and chest. Katsuki wasn't even using his quirk anymore. Finally he paused, giving Izuku time to think. He realized what Katsuki just said, then remembered what he said weeks ago.
"You've been looking down on me with pity in your eyes all this time because you thought you were better than me, didn't you?!"
Katsuki threw another punch, but Izuku caught it.
"You're still mad about that?! I was just trying to help you!"
"I don't need your help! Offering help is like saying someone is weak!"
"No it's not!" Izuku headbutted him, making Katsuki stumble, releasing his grip. "I offered to help because you needed it! You fell, I could tell even you would be shaken up by that! You looked like you needed help!"
"And why would you help me!" Blood was pouring out Katsuki's nose.
"Because you're my friend!" Izuku, like a true friend, punched Katsuki in the solar plexus with all his strength. Katsuki was sent flying back from the force of the attack, the wind was knocked out of him. He landed roughly on his back, outside the ring.
"T-that's the match. Winner is Izuku!" Tohru stuttered, she was also affected by the tension.
Katsuki laid on the ground staring at the sky. He thought about how he lost the match. Then he thought about how Izuku won. Then he thought about how impossible it was for Izuku to have so much strength in that last punch. Finally he thought about what Izuku just said. "Friends?" Slowly he got back up, "Do friends look at each other with pity?"
"I never did that! I told you, I was trying to help!"
"Do friends look at you like you're weak?"
"I never thought of you as weak!"
"Do friends look at each other with fake admiration?"
"THAT WASN'T FAKE YOU IDIOT!" Izuku yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice nearly cracking. Katsuki was stunned, Tohru didn't dare move. "That wasn't fake…All my life I've looked up to you, not just as a friend, as an inspiration." Katsuki was shaking a bit, but Izuku continued, "To me, you were the image of victory." Katsuki stumbled backwards and fell on his butt. He stared at his feet and noticed the ring, remembering about his first loss.
He muttered, "No matter how fast I ran, no matter how many times I beat you down, you kept chasing me…When did you finally catch up? When did you surpass me? Do I have to chase after you from now on?" Katsuki shuddered, "How did you beat me?!"
Izuku walked up to Katsuki. Katsuki looked up at Izuku. Izuku offered his hand to Katsuki.
"I don't know…I guess I just got lucky?"
Katsuki stared at Izuku, then at his hand.
He accepted it.
OOOOO
No student at Aldera ever considered themselves lucky. Stuck at some no name middle school, each day dragging on longer than the last. Most of their quirks were mundane, nothing to write home about. The teachers were dead inside, doing their jobs only for the paycheck. The only noteworthy thing about the school was one of its students, Katsuki Bakugou. A rising star, a charismatic character, a future hero who was going places. Almost all students wanted to get closer to him, falsely believing that, perhaps by standing next to him, they too could get lucky.
However no one dared stand close to him the past three weeks. There was a suffocating atmosphere around him and Izuku. No one knew what happened between the two and they definitely didn't ask. Classes had been tense, every student believing any minute Katsuki would snap. That monday they didn't believe anything would change, only to slowly realize that both Katsuki and Izuku hadn't made it to class yet. There was a minute left and both students were still absent. Nothing happened over the weekend did it?
"You don't think?"
"Yep, Deku's dead. Shouldn't've pissed off Bakugou."
"He's definitely in jail for murder…"
Before the bell rang a portal opened at the back corner of the class, stunning everyone into silence.
"We shouldn't be abusing this sort of power, you know?"
"Shut it Deku! If Chorogon says it's fine you should be fine with it too!"
The class were further surprised by seeing both Katsuki and Izuku walking out the portal together. Everyone tensed up, but relaxed when they realized there was no more tension between the two.
Katsuki turned towards Izuku, smirking, "If she wants to make herself useful, you should let her. If she wants to feel helpful, who are we to tell her no?"
"Hate you too, Katchin." A voice said before the portal closed.
Izuku frowned, "Still, it feels like a grave misuse of such a useful skill."
"No it's not!" Katsuki interrupted, "We're using it to save time, imagine how much training we can get done like this."
"We weren't even training…" They took their seats. "We just watched tv."
"Only because I'm still recovering," Katsuki rubbed his chest, "You hit like a freakin' truck!"
"I didn't hit you that hard." Izuku flushed.
"You sent me flying ten feet!" Katsuki realized how quiet the room was and turned to look at the rest of the class. "What the hell are you all staring at! This ain't a show!"
Everyone turned back around, not wanting to anger him like he had been before. They were at least glad the tension was gone but couldn't help but wonder,
Why was Bakugou hanging out with Deku?
Author's note: I have no idea what the MHA timeline looks like in terms of the pre-quirk era. The cannon seems to suggest they've been around one hundred years, but various fanfictions I've read said two hundred. I had the phrase two centuries written out before I changed it to one. Then I realized I was overthinking things.

A more awkward first impression
Izuku: Who's Elma?
Tohru: Just a platonic dragon friend, and not someone who has romantic feelings for me or anything like that… Someone I only have one thing in common with.
Elma: (Trying to make small talk) Hey Tohru. How about that gay encounter we had?
Tohru: (Heavy sigh) Everytime with this dragon!
Authors note: That's a reference to her confession at the ending of the wedding arc. Like, my god, the balls on Elma to suggest a triad to Tohru. Also this is the first and last time I make a family guy reference. I am appalled at the fact that I couldn't hold myself back for more than two chapters, I am deeply sorry. I'll try for more spongebob references like a responsible adult.
