Chapter 5
The escape
'Are you sure this is a good idea…? I mean you could just ask one of the nymphs to replace you…' a masculine voice whispered in the dark
'No, mom would instantly recognize her. Every member of our family seems to have a light shade of hair, as well as those water nymphs. Also their body type is waaay different from mine.' a feminine voice answered back.
'Yeah…I mean look at them…' Hermes was glancing towards the light blue haired water nymphs. Daughters of Tethys and Oceanus blessed with beautiful bodies and gorgeous faces, short of stature and very kind. They were almost in complete antithesis with Persephone. She was taller than most Goddesses, with long black hair and dark green eyes. Her skin, although bathed in sunlight, always seemed to keep a whiter shade than her fellow gods and goddesses. She always felt a little out of place at the family gatherings, not that she attended that many. She always felt she didn't fully belonged there. She was part of the 4th generation and she couldn't help but feel weak at times. Her great-grandfather Uranus was the sky himself, and her grandfather Cronus, a Titan, was a fierce ruler. Her own father Zeus and her mother Demeter fought the longest war of them all and ruled peacefully, more or less, over the mortal realm. She wanted to feel equal to them. But how could she? She barely could control her powers. A minor Goddess of spring was meant to be her destiny. But tonight she tried to replace those thoughts out of her mind. She wanted to attend the party. To have a good time with her cousins. That was the plan. And in order for that plan to work she had to find a replacement. She took a step back and focused on a small bank of sand. Smoke started to surround it and a female shape was starting to form. It was like looking in the mirror. There was a perfect copy of Persephone.
'Wow! This is amazing! I don't think Zeus can do it…if he could I would've known by know and mom wouldn't, if you know what I mean' Hermes winked at her.
Their father was famous for his numerous flings. He loved Hera. No one could deny that. But he hurt her…so many times. She became immune to it. At least in front of the crowds. She didn't respond to any whispering, to any challenges. She was depicted as jealous and evil, but in reality she was just tired. Tired of his silly games.
'It is a perfect body copy…but not very bright….This version of me can only answer with "yes mother, goodnight mother, no mother"' Persephone was studying her carefully adding 'and she is gone in 8 hours'
'So…we have 8 hours to get to Olympus, party and get back here. Plenty of time if you ask me' Hermes smiled.
'Yes, if we don't get caught' she smiled back.
Persephone got her black hood on and waited with Hermes until the water nymphs got tipsy from the wine she kindly offered them earlier as a gift. She pretended to be tired and put Persephone 2.1 in her bed. Now all they could do was wait. And they didn't have to wait too long. Hermes had a chariot hidden in the woods. They reached it and off they were to Olympus. They were both nervous for what was about to happen. Will they be caught? It didn't matter anymore. As wind was running trough their hair they both felt their level of excitement growing and freedom was finally theirs.
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy the story so far. I have to apologize for not posting weekly as I promised...don't send the Furies after me *that is the reason why I posted three chapters in the last few days :) * Also next week there won't be any updates...*exam finals* -I hope the Gods will be on my side. But after that I am returning to the usual 1 chapter per week /every Sunday.
Regarding Hermes - he is the son of Zeus and Maia in the Greek mythology, but in this version he is the son of Hera.
As for your most kind review kkjeab -thank you and no, I won't stop writing . I promise :)
