Prologue
Chance meeting with a dragon
Tohru never considered herself lucky. Luck was a strange skill she never had any interest in. She was always bored out of her mind when her friend Fafnir would try to explain it to her.
However, looking back, she realized he may have been talking about the 'luck stat' in a video game and not the actual thing itself.
Oh well, either way, it just sounded like another form of faith, so she had no real interest in it.
That was until she met Miss Kobayashi, she always considered herself 'lucky' to have met someone like her.
As short lived as it was, she would always treasure the life she got to live with her. And if luck had anything to do with their chance meeting, then she would graciously bend to the knee to give her thanks.
As short as it was for Tohru, it was a long and fulfilling life for Miss Kobayashi, so she couldn't have any regrets over her passing. She would stay on Earth a little longer to take care of anything left behind.
Once she was done handling her affairs she moved back to the other world. After a century, she was living a quiet life more suited for a bystander rather than a chaos dragon.
Elma was the first to point this out, "You know Tohru, if you've truly mellowed out over the years you should become a harmony dragon."
Tohru, at this point already drunk, answered with a, "Haaaeeell… no."
Elma scowled, "How are you already drunk? We just started drinking!"
Tohru started chuckling, "Ha… I!-Learned from the best!"
Elma eyed the sake Tohru had brought, "Did you bring those from Earth? Are you mixing drinks from two different planets right now?!"
"Ya, why? Yu~ want sum?"
"...I guess it couldn't hurt."
The next couple hours was spent drinking, while both dragons took jabs at each other.
Tohru brought back the argument from earlier, "Now- now why would I join deh harmony? To listen to some lowly god?! I'ma ah… become a patsie doin something like that!"
Elma slammed her drink down, "Now- hey!- now, when you think about it… you wouldn't've met that hot piece of- uh-umm-uh (what was her-?) Oh!… Kobayashi! If it hadn't been for that one god almosh killin ya you woulda-ah never became her maid!"
"THAT'S YOUR ARGUMENT?! What?!- I'm suppossse~ tuh Uh- just go up to him and offer my thanks?! For trynna kill me!"
"Well if your offering…"
"Oh I'm going to thank him alright!" Tohru started grinning madly. "I'll 'thank' him across his throat!"
"That doesn't make any-"
"I'm going to homicide…"
"Ohhh~ Oh! What! Tohru don't!-"
But Tohru was already flying away in dragon form, she yelled back at Elma, "Just you watch! I'm killing and no one can stop me! Also, you used the wrong 'you're'!"
Tohru woke up in a small clearing, she must have come here out of instinct. She sighed, what a way to go out. It wasn't the fact that she got drunk and got herself killed that was bothering her. (Well, it was bothering her but…) It was dying all alone, weak and in pain.
And the fucking hangover.
She heard rustling from nearby. Slowly she opened her eyes. She spotted a green haired human, he was standing on the other side of the clearing, mumbling something to himself.
Tohru winced, 'Great, now I wish I was alone again. At least then there was no one to see me in this pathetic state.'
The kid walked up to her and stared wide eyed, "Can you breathe fire?! Can you fly? Are you real?!"
Tohru was taken aback by his enthusiasm, "Uhh…what?" She shook her head, "Look kid, I'd really rather be alone right now. It's bad enough I got defeated by the same god twice, I don't want some human to witness my death."
The kid was staring a hundred miles away, slowly his eyes blinked once. He then spotted the sword on her back. "Do you need some help?"
Tohru was surprised by what she just heard, "You… want to help… me?" Not that she had high hopes, but the fact that some kid would offer with genuine care made her have an epiphany. She didn't want to die alone after all.
"Of course, it's what heroes do!"
That caused Tohru to smile a bit, but she didn't want to cause any harm to anyone else at that moment, especially to some innocent (cute) kid. "I appreciate the offer, but you shouldn't attempt to touch the holy sword-"
But the kid was already on her back, touching the sword, "Excalibur smash!" He yanked the sword out.
Tohru was astonished, "He pulled it out?!"
The kid struck a pose, "All in a daazze~" Then promptly fainted, falling off of Tohru's back and landing roughly on the ground, passing out.
Tohru slightly panicked, then realized the kid was asleep. With a sigh, she allowed herself to relax. Looks like she wasn't going to die, and it was thanks to some human she met by chance.
Just like last time.
Was this luck? She had no idea, but if she's got a good streak going then she might as well go all the way and become this boy's maid.
The boy in question started mumbling in his sleep, "I wanna be a dragon…"
No scratch that, she was going to adopt this kid.
And to think, none of this would have happened if she didn't almost get killed by that god a second time. Elma was right!
…She was still going to kill that god.
OOOOO
Tohru and Encounters
Convincing Izuku to be his maid seemed easy enough. It went without a hitch.
Yup.
Tohru took the time to look at herself in the bathroom mirror. She still wore the same maid outfit she always wore. It seemed inane to continue wearing a uniform despite being out of work for a century, but she couldn't bear to wear anything else. (Well, besides the clothes Miss Kobayashi had bought for her.)
Tohru looked at the shirt in her hands, it said 't-shirt' on it. It belonged to Izuku, so it smelled faintly like him. She put it on, wearing it over her uniform. Then she checked herself in the mirror again. The shirt was hugging her chest tightly. She chuckled to herself, if Miss Kobayashi was here she would have said-
"Tohru could you get out of the bathroom now? I'm still taking a bath…"
Yeah that. Tohru snapped her head towards Izuku, "Oh, sorry Izuku. I didn't see you there."
"Yes you did. You made eye contact and said 'don't mind me' then proceeded to wear my shirt."
It will probably take a while to get used to maid work again.
The first time she met Takiya was a real test of self-restraint. It was so obvious he wanted to get with Miss Kobayashi, she never hated a human like she hated Takiya.
Then she met Katsuki Bakugou…
'Bakugo'?
Well whatever, she didn't like him. But for some reason her Izuku wouldn't stop idolizing him.
(His parents were okay though… At least, Mitsuki was, anyone willing to smack Katsuki upside the head was alright in her book.)
She had arranged for a fight between them to get Izuku to open his eyes and see how terrible Katsuki was, but all it did was reform their friendship.
"Deku, you green fuck. How dare you be born in my world!"
Or at least she assumed they were friends.
Either way he was inside the apartment eating their food. 'I knew I should've stocked up on poisons before moving here!' She served Izuku his dinner.
Katsuki eyed the plate. "The hell is that? It looks like dubious food."
"It's my tail meat." Tohru replied through gritted teeth.
"Deku, you shouldn't be forcing yourself to eat sludge like that just to make her feel better."
"I'll have you know, Izuku likes eating my tail!"
"Okay, I know that wasn't meant to sound sexual, but…"
"Kacchan, she's right. The meat tastes better than it looks." Izuku replied.
Katsuki furrowed an eyebrow, "Well, can I have some then?"
Izuku looked threatened, "What?! No! I need to savor every bite!"
Tohru looked at Katsuki smugly, "He's not forcing himself to eat it, but I still feel better about myself."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, "Freaking Chorogon."
"What did you call me?!" Tohru yelled.
"Chorogon."
"Oh yeah! Well… at least I'm not… as dense as Katchin!" 'Damn it Tohru, that was the best you could come up with?!'
"The fuck did you call me?!" Katsuki yelled.
'... Go with it.'
Tohru had accidentally interrupted some sort of mating ritual between Izuku and their neighbor. She had only barged her way in because she heard Izuku call her name…
'I was only joking about that Oedipus comment!'
She had managed to keep a straight face when leaving the room, but as soon as she got done fixing the wall her face was blushing bright red.
"That's it, I'm getting rid of that body pillow!"
In hindsight, that was not the best gift to give to someone, even if there was nothing sensual about the picture on the pillow itself.
The first time Izuku's parents were able to visit was a little over a week after that incident.
Izuku introduced them to his girlfriend and they were caught by surprise.
Hisashi wasn't much of a crier, at least not compared to his wife and son, but he was bawling.
"My son! … my-my, my baby boy! A month and a half of middle school and he already brought a girlfriend home! It's just so… it's- it's- Inko you handle this!"
"Toga it's wonderful to meet you. Please take care of our son."
Tohru was impressed with Inko's resolve to finish that sentence with tears pouring out of her eyes.
('At this rate, they're going to flood the apartment.')
Himiko said, "Oh, please call me Himiko! Or if you want to skip a few steps ahead, call me Mrs. Midoriya!"
Everyone in the room had a good laugh.
Except for Izuku, who started laughing nervously a little too loud. He continued to laugh even after everyone else stopped.
Izuku heard a knock on his door. Tohru walked in, "Izuku, I wanted to apologize about our fight last night."
"That wasn't a fight. It was you putting me on the spot in front of everybody."
"So to make it up to you, I made you this All Might figure!"
Izuku looked at the figure handed to him. It was of All Might's skinny form. In the same baggy clothes he wore the night before.
Internally, Tohru smirked. There's no way Izuku can handle looking at that form. This 'gift' was to be a constant reminder to Izuku that his hero isn't as great as he thought he is.
"Tohru! This is awesome!"
Tohru's face fell, "Uh, what?"
"This form is All Might's best kept secret, (aside from his quirk). This is practically a one of a kind merchandise! It's so well made! It looks better than most of the official All Might merchandise! You even added the blood running down his chin! It's perfect! Thank you so much Tohru!"
Izuku hugged her, Tohru stood there in shock, she had no idea what to say.
'Well at least I got a hug… So…'
Izuku was so grateful he kissed Tohru on the cheek.
'It's a win.'
OOOOO
Nine months later
Izuku and Tohru left the grocery store. Tohru wanted to celebrate Izuku's training progress with a special dinner.
Toshinori had predicted that Izuku would be done cleaning the beach in one more month.
"Tohru, don't you think we should celebrate after I'm done cleaning the beach." Izuku asked.
"Sorry Izuku, it's just, I'm so excited for you, you know?" Tohru seemed fired up. "Once you finish that talking twig's test he'll be out of our lives forever!"
"He… never said that. I doubt All Might would pick a successor and then not properly train him how to use One for All-"
Suddenly, they heard a cry, "Someone help! He's got my purse!"
Izuku and Tohru watched a thief running away from the scene.
"Do you mind? May I get him?" Tohru asked Izuku.
"What? I-" Izuku was about to give her a confident maybe, but the look in her eyes made him change his mind. He would never forgive himself if his decision put someone in the grave.
"We should let the heroes handle this." Izuku decided. "Besides, you would get in trouble, no matter how discreet you are."
"You thought I was going to be discreet about it?" Tohru tilted her head. "And how can I get in trouble? I have those quirk licenses."
"Those can only help you if you stopped the thief in self defense or if you were protecting me." Izuku tried to explain.
Tohru took a thinking pose. "So if we make it look like self defense we can stop him?"
"That wasn't what I was getting at. Why are you picking me up?"
Tohru picked Izuku up and placed him on her shoulder. "There's no one else around, so if you knock him out we can say he attacked you first!"
"Tohru, think about what you're doing! Tohru?- Tohru!"
Tohru readied her aim, narrowed her eyes and launched Izuku like a javelin.
"Tohruuuuu!"
The thief continued running, he was so confident of his escape he turned back to taunt. "Too far away to stop now!"
Just then, he found himself face to face with a screaming teenager.
Izuku had to make a choice, either knock the guy out or they both go down. Without another thought he pulled his fist back and threw a downward punch. Between Izuku's momentum and the blow to the head, the thief was out cold before he hit the ground.
A good thing too, when they made their rough landing Izuku's punch was strong enough to make cracks on the sidewalk.
Pain ran up Izuku's arm and he landed roughly on his back.
"Ow…"
The pain stung in a familiar way, Izuku looked at his trembling arm. 'Hysterical strength?' Izuku noticed the cracked pavement, 'I know people are supposedly superhumans when using it, but this- this is impossible!'
Tohru caught up to him. "Nice job Izuku! My only comment would be to not crack the sidewalk next time, that way we can tell people he tripped and fell."
"Did I just kill a man?"
"Don't worry Izuku, I think I still have time to fix the sidewalk and cover our tracks."
A plain looking man wearing an overcoat walked up to them, "There's no need for that ma'am, I saw the whole thing." The man flashed a badge, "Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, I need you two to come with me to the police station."
Izuku sat there in silence.
Tohru slowly lowered herself to whisper in his ear. "Izuku, there's no other witnesses around… Just say the phrase 'okay officer' and I can make this guy disappear.~"
The police station was somewhat quiet. Having All Might back in Japan probably made the days slower. A good thing, sure, but the silence was getting on Izuku's nerves. What was worse was that the detective moved them into an interrogation room.
"Alright, I've gone over the situation. Between the thief getting put in a coma and the bystander promising not to say anything, I think it's safe to say you two are off the hook." The detective said.
Izuku sighed with relief, "Really?! Oh thank you! I really didn't mean for any of this to happen!"
Truth. "I just need to ask you some questions, for formalities really." The detective pulled out a notepad. "Name?"
"Izuku Midoriya."
Truth. "Quirk?"
"Oh, um, I'm quirkless…"
Truth. Jesus, what do they feed kids these days? "I can probably just leave the rest of these blank. The chief really wants your account of the situation." The detective said to Tohru. "Assuming, it's only you who is the other worlder among the two of you?"
"Yes, that's correct. I'm a dragon." Tohru answered.
Truth. "A dragon? It's been a while since one has lived here in Japan."
Izuku waved his hands around. "Wait- wait- wait! You know about dragons? The other world?"
"Ah yessir. I'm a protector. My job is to make sure the other worlders here behave, a sort of detective of sorts. I'm also an actual detective, so there's that…" Tsukauchi drawled on.
'Oh, just like Azad.' Tohru realized. 'Wait, wasn't that guy immortal? Where is he right now? Oh shit, I was supposed to be monitoring that guy!'
"There are… others? Other worlders?" Izuku couldn't wrap his mind around it. "How come you've never told me this before?" He asked Tohru.
"I was sure I did." Tohru thought. She turned to the detective. "Are you the protector of this district? They tend to be mages, but I don't sense any magic in you."
"Of Japan, really. And no, I don't know magic, I'm a normal human with a useful quirk. Ever since quirks happened the other worlders were able to blend in with society even better than before. It's really only me and the chief of police who are handling them in this country. Along with some citizen other worlders who lend a helping hand from time to time. And if you're wondering, he is a mage. And half beast man, but that's not really important right now." Tsukauchi explained. "Well enough about that, let's go over these questions and then you two are free to leave. Name?"
"Tohru Kobayashi."
Truth. "Wait, Kobayashi? As in the Oborodzuka district protector Kobayashi! The one who specialized in dragons?"
"... So you've heard of her."
"Of course! She's like a legend among us protectors! And you must be her right hand woman Tohru!"
Tohru chuckled smugly, "Well, right hand woman would be an understatement. But, yes. I'm guessing you're a fan?"
Tsukauchi composed himself, "Ah sorry about that… I guess you're right, I became a fan without realizing it. Records of her time as a protector may have been lost after quirks started showing up, but I've heard the stories of her many exploits through your lover, Elma."
Tohru sighed, "Oh right, that would be the business she mentioned she was handling on Earth- Wait… did you just say lover?"
Tsukauchi looked confused, "Uh, yes… That's what you are… right?"
"Is that what she said?"
"Well, uh… Her exact words were that you are the housewife."
"...Thank you for telling me… Looks like I'll have some words of my own for her later." At this point there was an ominous aura surrounding her.
"...Let's go over the other questions." Tsukauchi continued. "Let's see… I know your quirk name is Dragon Maid. Heh, you know the chief had a field day pulling strings to get that 'quirk' registered. Well, I'll let him explain that if you two ever get to meet him. Did you enhance Midoriya with your magic at the scene?"
Tohru looked calm again. "More or less. There were no incantations, it was more 'I've been feeding him my tail meat for almost three years' type of spell."
Izuku was surprised, "Wait, what? That's what that was?" He looked at his arm, a police officer in the station had helped him with his arm by using a painkiller quirk. "Is that how my hysterical strength broke the sidewalk, it's double hysterical strength?"
"Yes of course." Tohru nodded. "Did you not realize that?"
"No!"
"Izuku, you were physically fit in the first three weeks of your training. How did you not realize it was the tail meat?"
"I thought it was because I was putting my mind into it, or something." Izuku clenched his fist, silently thinking to himself. "Weird, I wonder what other side effects it's had."
Himiko was standing at the training field, transformed as Katsuki. She was looking at her palms, there were small pops and crackles releasing from her hands.
Katsuki looked at her hands, "Did you just copy my quirk?"
Himiko continued to stare at her hands, "Huh, well that's…new." The crackles stopped after releasing the transformation.
Elma clapped excitedly, "Ooh! Try me! Try me!"
Himiko transformed into Elma, her newly acquired tail awkwardly poking out of her tracksuit pants (that she had 'borrowed' from Izuku). She looked around, before clutching her head in her hands and falling on her knees. "AHH! WHAT IS THIS?! WHAT AM I?! I CAN SMELL COLOR!"
"Oh… Interesting, you can sense magic!" Elma realized.
"Can you turn into a dragon?" Katsuki asked.
"What?! No! Who cares?! I'm having a sensory overload!" Himiko rolled around, then released the transformation, laying down on the ground.
"Oh, she can only sense magic, still that's pretty cool!" Elma praised.
"I'm having two simultaneous existential crises right now…" Himiko muttered.
Tohru shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know if this is the best time to mention this but, there's like, a twenty percent chance you're immortal now."
"...What?"
"Let's just go over the rest of the questions." Tsukauchi flustered.
OOOOO
Izuku felt bad when the detective mentioned how much paperwork he would have to go through for their stunt. He had asked Tohru if he could be invited to dinner. Tohru had agreed, as thanks for his work as a protector, and because she wanted to add another human she liked to her list of acquaintances.
Tsukauchi had accepted their offer, he had wanted to hear more stories about Miss Kobayashi, he figured having another dragon to fact check Elma would be interesting. It hadn't occurred to him until now that, while his quirk worked on magical beings, he had never actually used it on Elma before.
Speaking of Elma, she had greeted them at the door. "Welcome home! Himiko is sleeping in Izuku's room, she had a little accident, try not to bother her."
Tohru walked up to Elma and hugged her close, "Thanks for always looking out for Izuku's friends."
Elma was surprised, "Tw-Tohru?! You're being a little forward right now." She hugged back. "Not that I mind! It's just that-"
She looked up and noticed detective Tsukauchi standing behind Izuku, giving her an apologetic look. Tohru's hold tightened.
"Uh- Tohru… when I said housewife I meant you were kind of like a housewife!" Elma tried to explain.
"Huh, she already knows what she's guilty of before Tohru even told her…" Izuku said.
"You're not mad right?" Elma asked.
"No, well, kind of." Tohru said calmly.
"Oh, okay good! For a second there-"
"Kind of still means you need punishment!"
A portal opened up beneath them, they both dropped down disappearing into it.
"Tohruuuu-!" Elma yelled, getting cut off when the portal closed.
Katsuki showed up, "Fatality…" He looked at the detective, "Who's this?"
"Kacchan, this is detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, he's a protector for other worlders living in Japan." Izuku introduced.
"There are others?"
"Exactly what I said…" Izuku mused. "I'll go get an extra chair from Himiko's apartment for the table. Tsukauchi-san, you can sit on the couch for now, dinner's not going to be out for a while since Tohru's off doing whatever right now. Man, we still have another guest showing up later, the table is going to be full!"
Katsuki and Tsukauchi were seated in the living room, Katsuki asked the detective, "So, I'm guessing you're here because Chorogon did what she said she was going to do and vandalized Ryukyu's agency."
"(Chorogon?) Uh, no, she and Midoriya stopped a thief and I had to step in as a protector." Tsukauchi explained.
"Oh, okay good, because we were supposed to do that together…Allegedly… Not that I have anything against Ryukyu, it's just that Deku wants me to do 'bonding' activities with Chorogon and that sounded more interesting than tie dyeing."
They were all seated at the table, ready to enjoy the big dinner feast Tohru had prepared for Izuku.
"Everyone enjoy! There's plenty of food! We're celebrating Izuku's training progress going smoothly, and a certain someone passing off his, uhh, 'aptness', to Izuku once he's done with his training."
Speaking of a certain someone, Izuku looked at one of the two chairs that was still empty, where Toshinori would usually sit. 'Wonder what's taking him so long?'
Elma was seated at the table, her clothes were still smoking, "Damnit Naomasa… I told you that stuff about Tohru in confidence." She grumbled.
Tsukauchi raised an eyebrow, "And I was supposed to just not mention that to the person in question?"
"Yes!"
Katsuki said, "So you two already know each other? Seems like a weird coincidence."
Tsukauchi nodded, "Yeah, a good thing too, if it was a normal police officer who witnessed that situation then Midoriya and Kobayashi-san would have been at the station for the entire afternoon."
"Again, sorry about that." Izuku apologized.
"Hey, it's totally fine, I was able to file this as an emergency other worlder situation, so I've got the rest of the day off." Tsukauchi seemed giddy.
"Don't you think the chief is being too lenient with you?" Elma asked.
"Okay, well, I also promised to buy the drinks next time we meet up."
"Damn mutt, always taking advantage of his employees like that."
"You're just mad about the pay cuts from destroying people's buildings with your dramatic entrances."
"I'm just saying! Heroes do it all the time, why can't I?!"
"Elma, you should seriously learn the block perception spell if you're going to be a hindrance to your coworkers." Tohru chimed in.
"Please don't teach her that. She'll only do more harm with something like that." Tsukauchi complained.
"Yeah good point, the only reason I didn't teach her before was because I knew she would try to sneak more of our snacks."
"Would you two stop ganging up on me!" Elma cried.
"Not the weirdest conversation that's been had at this table…" Izuku mumbled.
Toshinori walked into the apartment, "Sorry I'm late, there was a cat that needed rescuing and it would not come down no matter how hard I shook the tree- Naomasa?! What are you doing here?"
"Uh, hey Toshi." Tsukauchi awkwardly waved.
"Damnit, don't tell me Kobayashi-san did what she said she was going to do and vandalized Might Tower!"
Katsuki grumbled again, "Another coincidence? He's an acquaintance of our resident harmony dragon and the number one hero?"
"You guys know All Might?" Tsukauchi asked.
"You know about the dragons?!" Toshinori asked a bit more loudly.
"I should be asking you the same thing, since when did you learn about the dragons?"
"Like, nine months ago! How long have you known?!"
"Before I became a detective, I have a knack for spotting other worlders in public, it's… kind of how I got the job."
"And when were you planning on telling me?! We tell each other everything!"
"It's a secret I had to keep Toshinori, even from you." Tsukauchi said, his hand reaching into his pocket to touch the Multiversal Communicator, yet another secret he had to keep.
"I would've told you! …But I didn't get the chance, since, uh… I was waiting until after Midoriya's training was done to ask Kobayashi-san about it…" Toshinori sheepishly explained.
Now Tohru looked mad, "Oh you bitch! You can't just go around telling people just because you're friends with them."
"Why did you guys tell your friends about all this? About you being an actual dragon?" Tsukauchi asked.
Tohru looked flustered, "I told Izuku since I pretty much owe him my life."
"Tohru and I told my parents since I felt like they should know who was going to be living in our home." Izuku added.
"Izuku told Katchin, since they're such good friends." Tohru rolled her eyes.
"It sort of slipped out of my mouth with Himiko."
Tohru blushed, remembering her name had also (supposedly) slipped out of his mouth while he was with Himiko.
Izuku continued, "And Tohru told All Might because she was trying to one up him."
"See? They told their friends, since they trust us! Says a lot about you, huh Naomasa?!" Toshinori argued.
"Oh yeah, just like how your identity was revealed to me when it slipped out. Yeah, you really told me you were actually All Might that way!" Tsukauchi countered.
"We weren't friends at that point!"
"And you would've told me your biggest secret had we been friends first, Mr. Secretary?"
"Yes! …maybe…"
"Wait a minute, how did you tell them about it?" Tsukauchi asked, referring to the others in the room.
"I told Midoriya first, then his friends since he trusted them, and because I tackled and threw up blood all over him in front of Kobayashi-san…"
Izuku had a rebuttal, "Actually, he didn't tell me at first, he accidentally poofed in front of me after I had two near death experiences in a row. (And then afterwards I had a third near death experience.)"
Naomasa rolled his eyes, "Wow, you sure told him."
"I- I hadn't picked him as my successor yet at that point! I woulda told him obviously!"
Tohru spoke up, "Oh my! All Might exposing himself in front of minors like that? And I thought that form was supposed to be his best kept secret, besides One for All!" She said smugly.
"Tohru, please don't start…" Izuku pleaded.
Tsukauchi looked like he just realized something, "Oh! So you're the Izuku that Toshinori has been bragging about."
"All Might talks about me?! Wait, how did you not know it was me if All Might told you my name?"
"He never gave me a last name, I just assumed it was a coincidence that you had the same first name as his successor, until Toshinori walked in, and then I was starting to put two and two together…"
Izuku turned to Toshinori, "You only referred to me by first name?"
Toshinori panicked, "Uhhh… Wow, Kobayashi-san, this food looks delicious! Thanks for taking the time to cook something I can stomach!"
"Oh don't change the subject All Contrite, you tried using One for All as a trade offer! What happened to the 'sacred torch' crap?!" Tohru shouted.
Izuku looked back at Tsukauchi, "So you know about One for All?"
Toshinori jumped in, "That's right! I told him! Like a good friend should!"
"Oh get off your high horse, you were keeping your trusted friend a secret from us until you were ready to ask us a favor!" Tohru argued. "Unlike me! I'm such a good friend, I share everything with Izuku!"
"Like how you told me you were still alive after your first supposed death?" Elma said.
"Th-that's different! I didn't like you at the time!" Tohru spluttered. "Besides, I told you after the second fake out death!"
"Only because you needed help bringing Izuku back to his apartment!" Elma shouted, slamming her hand on the table.
"Holy crap… I never even questioned how I got back home that night." Izuku realized.
Tsukauchi looked like he remembered something, "Ohhh… You must be the Midoriya that Elma was asking me about that one night."
"You've heard of me?! Wait, Elma, you helped me get back home?!"
Elma panicked, "Yeah, but, I didn't meet you! My entire exchange with Tohru that night was done through text messages!"
Tsukauchi added, "Same with my exchanges with Elma, she woke me up at two in the morning asking about a Midoriya that lived in Musutafu."
"And you didn't question if I was that same Midoriya?!" Izuku asked.
"Kid, that was almost three years ago, do you have any idea how often Elma wakes me up at night with her text messages? I didn't even remember there was a Midoriya until now."
"Christ, Elma, do you have to be such a burden to your coworkers?! You know humans need sleep! You yourself like to sleep!" Tohru scolded.
Katsuki grumbled, "Feels weird being the only quiet one at the table for once… Also, again, weird coincidences all around."
Tsukauchi straightened his tie, "Well, I think things got a little heated there, we should just continue dinner before the food gets cold."
Izuku nodded, "Right, maybe we can finish talking afterwards, otherwise we'll never get started."
Elma said, "Well now I'm wondering about what Katsuki just said, with all these coincidences it's not too far-fetched to think there are others."
Izuku chuckled, "I doubt that, unless you know my parents, Tsukauchi-san?"
"Oh you mean Inko and Hisashi?"
"YOU DO KNOW THEM?!"
Tsukauchi realized his mistake, "Oh, no-no! Not personally. Toshinori told me about them."
"Oh, right, of course, my bad." Izuku relaxed. "Wait, All Might, you've mentioned me and my parents only by our first names?"
"Dinner looks great! Let's get started!" Toshinori said, stuffing food into his mouth. "Mmm, Kobayashi-san, this tastes amazing! Did you forgo the rat poison this time around?"
"Shit! There was something I was forgetting today!" Tohru scowled, biting her thumb.
Izuku said, "I guess it's safe to assume there are no more coincidences for today."
Everyone agreed to that, then finally began eating their meals.
Himiko showed up looking well rested, "Phew! I knew surrounding myself in Izuku's scent would get the red smell out of my nose!" She noticed Tsukauchi, "Detective Tsukauchi?! What are you doing here?! Oh, crap, don't tell me that boy got out of his coma and is looking to sue… I'll stab him again if I have to!"
"Uh, no, that's not what I'm-"
"Don't tell me Tohru did what she said she was going to do and stole a tiger from the zoo again!"
"Again, weird coincidence." Katsuki grumbled.
Authors note: When I came up with this story it was meant to be a slice of life. You know, because of Tohru. She would have just easily take care of the problems then go back home for a comedy scene or two.
The reason being because I wanted to have a easy concept to write as my first story.
I've decided to go a different route and nerf Tohru. On a slightly related note, there's one more chapter left in this arc. Then after, regular My hero Academia story canon.
Also, I could have sworn this website had a slice of life genre tag? Did I just imagine that?
Omake
Pour one out
Elma: I can't believe she's gone… At least I was able to fulfill her last request and helped her open that portal to Earth.
(Sighs) Well, Tohru… may you rest in peace…
(Pours one out for Tohru)
(Her phone chimes)
A text message? From Tohru?!
Tohru: I lived bitch.
Elma: Well that was a waste of alcohol…
Hair styling
Himiko: Hey Tohru, can you do my hair like yours?
Tohru: What?! W-why would you want to look like me?! Did Izuku ask you to do this?!
Himiko: I just don't want to keep my hair down.
Tohru: Then I got a better hair style for you! One that looks nothing like mine!
Lore dump
Author: I need to lore dump this chapter, but how do I, an amateur writer, go about doing it?
Inner demons: Off the rails dinner argument scene?
Author: Off the rails dinner argument scene!
Number one fan vs Number one fan
Izuku: With this All Might figure Tohru made me, and All Might's blessing, I now have the rarest All Might merchandise in the world. Once I get All Might's quirk itself I'll have the rarest one of a kind collection in the world!
Mirio: Sir? Is something wrong?
Sir Nighteye: I felt… a disturbance…
Memory loss
Tohru: It's never occurred to me you never questioned how you got back home that night we met.
Izuku: I wanted to remember the night itself on my own, but no matter how hard I try, I draw a blank trying to remember anything past our first conversation. It's like I hit my head or something…
Tohru: (Remembering that she accidentally hit Izuku's head against the doorway while carrying him back inside the apartment.) Gee, I wonder why…
Best day
Himiko: (With her arms crossed) So meeting Tohru and All Might were the best days of your life?! And where do I fit?! Third best?!
Izuku: Himiko… meeting you was the best week of my life.
Himiko: You're forgiven!
Izuku: You know, had the roles been reversed-
Himiko: Yeah-yeah. Everyone knows, it goes without saying.
Grocery run (Portal edition)
Tohru: Hey, I know you needed to question us, but thanks for letting me open a portal long enough to put the groceries away.
Tsukauchi: I never gave you permission to do that… Aaand you just triggered the portal alarm system.
Authors note: I don't know if it's obvious, but the 'Omakes' are really just pieces of dialogue that I cut from the story because I didn't know how to fit them in.
Well, except for the Lore dump one, obviously, but that's sort of an attempt to write an original Omake that wasn't deleted dialogue. There will (hopefully) be more, but I'm not confident in my ability to write them on purpose.
