Disclaimer: I do not own Hetalia

Chapter eleven

"Finally! 'Bout time we got here," Romano complained as he stormed into his house and towards the living room. Like Spain decided, they went back to England's house for the night then left early the next morning to reach Romano and Italy's house. Romano was still upset to not get things his way, but Spain chose to ignore the child's anger.

"Glad to see you're happy to be home," Spain instead commented as he closed the front door behind himself.

"Ya, no thanks to you," Romano retorted. He looked around the rooms, but could find no sign of his brother.

"Roma, we've been over this," Spain began only to stop as Italy saw them and greeted, "Hello Spain, hello ro-Romano! You look so little!"

Italy practically lept at his brother, then hugged and patted the youth's head. As he did so he continued, "You look so cute now that you're little. I wonder if this is how I looked when I was younger? Oh, hey, I guess this means that I'm the big brother now."

"In your dreams, idiot," Romano replied as he tried to push Italy off him.

"Romano, that's not being nice," Spain warned.

"Who cares. Besides, listen to this idiot think that he can just be a big brother. I came home 'cause I was worried and all I can see is I had reason to be worried. Just look at this mess!" Romano continued to complain as he moved farther into the house. It was true the house was messy, but no more than any other day.

"Romano!" Spain called out in a rolling voice.

"What?" Romano complained.

"Ya, so I've come to a decision. You, Mister, need to learn to be a better brother. Starting with that attitude you have towards Italy and me," Spain declared. The two Italians looked at him confused.

"Like hell I need a better attitude. In case you forgot, you suck at teaching so how do you plan on doing that?" Romano asked.

Spain deflated a bit at the blunt criticism, then rallied himself and answered, "This time will be different because…because it has to be different! Besides, you heard Norway. This is your only shot at getting back to normal."

"You know, I could try being a better brother to you, or I could just let you do everything for me like last time. I bet if anything the curse should wear off as I grow older naturally. It'll only take me what…nine, ten years. I change my mind; I'll take the vacation," Romano rationalized nonchalantly.

"Okay, now you're just being mean to spite me," Spain commented.

Spain then watched as Italy firmly placed his hands on the youth's shoulders and ordered, "Romano, you will do whatever it takes to get back to normal."

"What's got you upset all of a sudden?" Romano asked. It was unusual for Italy to act so determined about anything he did, and it caught Romano and Spain off guard.

"What if you don't age regularly and you're stuck as a kid forever? Or what if no one can change back because you decide not to try?" Italy asked, a slight edge to his voice.

"I don't know, why do you care all of a sudden?" Romano asked.

"Because I don't want to be incharge of both the country and you! And if no one can change back because of you then Germany will be hurt because of you! Everyone else is trying their best to fix this except for you! Why can't you be less selfish just once in your life?!" Italy yelled at his brother on the verge of tears.

"Italy…," Spain began in what he hoped sounded calming. He hated to see Italy so upset. Even Romano looked a little guilty.

"I'm sorry, it's just…I don't think he realizes how much of a mess this all is causing. I don't like all this stress," Italy apologized, worried he went too far.

"Then take it out on England, not me," Romano weakly offered.

"No, you are the one choosing to be stubborn. Germany is littler than you and he still wants to do whatever he can to help Prussia and get back to normal," Italy protested.

"Ya, he's probably lying about that. You didn't see how childish he was acting the other day," Romano critiqued in an attempt to blow off Italy's protest.

"Then explain why he and Prussia already know for sure what they need to do and are working at it?" Italy asked as he showed his brother a text from Germany.

"Really?" Romano asked.

"They do? Hey, that's good for them," Spain commented. He wanted to lighten the subject, so he grabbed onto the first positive thing he could. Romano also seemed uncomfortable with how his brother was acting as he commented, "Hey, Italy, maybe…why don't you just go spend some time with your friend."

"Huh, what do you mean? You were just saying that you didn't want to do anything so I had to," Italy commented.

"Ya, well, I changed my mind. Is that okay? Now get out of here before I change my mind again," Romano threatened.

Startled, Italy said his goodbyes and did as he was told. Once Italy was gone, Spain commented, "See, I knew you could be a good brother to Italy if you tried hard enough. I'm so proud of you."

"Why are you so happy? It just means that you have to do my work now along with yours and everything else. Starting with work, I want lunch so get to it," Romano replied as he walked into the living room and turned on the television.
