A/N: I fear the day Kaiser gets labeled a Gary Stu.

Chains rattled at the slightest movement. Hanging from them at the wrist was a 15 year old boy with tousled brown hair. His feet could barely touch the cold stone floor, his wrist ached as he desperately tried to get his feet to touch the ground. The boy couldn't really judge his progress as the only light source was the golden hue outlining the steel door that served as the room's entrance. The boy struggled against the chains once more as the bindings strained against his wrist.

Three hours passed by in complete silence before the door began to rattle.

The room exploded with vibrant light that the boy couldn't help but squint as someone entered the room.

Two men in black soldier garb strode into the room. One of them was laughing at a joke he must've made before entering. The second man laughed along with him, it all died down as they closed in on the brown haired boy.

"So yer the little shitstain snoopin around the boss' office." The heavier set man shouted. He was balding, likely mid to late 40's. Although he was gaining weight, his mighty frame suggested some sort of previous powerful physique.

The boy began to jerk forward to get as close to the man as possible. "Please sir, let me go." Tears welled up in his eyes. "Let me go please I have money, I can pay you."

The heavy man merely laughed at the boy's desperation. "You damn kids always think your money can buy your way out of anything." Spittle flew from his mouth onto the pathetic display in front of him. "In the real world," the man started to pace around the child. "There are consequences. Those don't go away just cus you throw yer name around." Once the man had made it full circle he turned to face the boy. "I used to be the heavyweight boxing champion of remnant! Crowds would scream my name: Hank Hammer" Hank took hold of the chains base to lift up the body it hung. "And cuz I decided to cheat in my title defense," he started shaking the chains. The rusted chain links dug into the boy's wrist. "I became a nobody, a cheat, a liar!"

The boy could only stare at the Hank

"Nobody would hire me, not until I met the boss."

Hank steadied the chain before gesturing to the soldier behind him.

The soldier stepped forward. "I dealt with the consequences of my actions, now it's time that you deal with yer own." Hank settled into a southpaw stance. "I promised Franco here that I teach him the basics of boxing." Franco stood idly by as Hank prepared to strike. "Here is the basic uppercut combo." Hank explained.

The boy grit his teeth as Hank hit him with the force of a truck.

Kaiser awoke with start, it wasn't uncommon these days that he did. He gasped as if he had no air to breathe in, it certainly felt like it. He pressed his palms into his eyes, they felt clammy and cold. Kaiser was already not liking the start of his day.

Kaiser stumbled out of bed in a tangle of bedsheets. Looking up, he checked on the clock's time.

5:00 AM, it read, Kaiser was ready to start his day. He grabbed a set of clothes that was loaned to him by the school, Kaiser left all his spare clothes in the hotel room the night he fought Taurus. He tiredly trudged his way to the bathroom, the boy aimed to burn himself alive that morning.

Kaiser turned the shower knob to scorching hot, he couldn't remember the last time he had a hot shower. With a quick lathering and rinsing, he made sure that he washed off the grime from the day before. Stepping out of the steamy shower, Kaiser patted himself dry. The boy inspected himself in the mirror, his body was littered with marks. Each of them held a different experience that made Kaiser the person he was today. Showering for an extended period of time had caused the skin from more recent wounds to soften around the edges, it irritated him that he had to be more careful so he wouldn't tug on the skin. He carefully slipped a white T-shirt and black pants whilst trying to fix his hair in the mirror.

Exiting the bathroom, Kaiser took another glance at the clock. 5:17 AM. He'd have to do more than just kill time until the other students arrived. From what Ozpin had told Kaiser, most students were expected to arrive at 3:00 PM. Until then, Kaiser settled into the desk chair to pour over some reading material. After reluctantly admitting he had no experience with grimm and aura, Professor Goodwitch had referred to him a couple textbooks that he could learn from to have a basic grasp on the concepts. For the past week he had been pouring over the books so he wouldn't be dead weight in the class.

Kaiser decided another two hours of studying wouldn't hurt.

Beringels tend to throw things at enemies. Kaiser surmised that Beringels we're pretty smart. Underhanded tactics were frowned upon by people who followed a code of honor, Grimm had no such qualms and neither did Kaiser. He learned early on that there's no cheating in a game of life and death.

Overall, according to the book, Beringels had no known weakness… that just meant they were good at hiding such shortcomings. Kaiser stretched out his arms, a couple bones popped as he did.

Two hours had gone by as he studied. Figuring he was at a good stopping place, he bookmarked his page. He was ready to face the day. Kaiser left his temporary dorm and left. Turning the corner he came face to face with an aging man with a jovial attitude.

"Good morning professor."

"Good morning young scholar." Professor port greeted. Upon learning that Kaiser had no last name, the professor had taken to calling him anything else that was remotely respectful. "What are you up to this fine morning?" The professor asked.

"Not much, I think I'll walk to Vale to take care of something before the other students get here." Kaiser responded, he heard a small chuckle from the professor. "What's so funny?" Kaiser asked, Professor port gave a less restrained laugh.

"You'll have to forgive me lad, but you'll have to do a lot more than walking."

"This seems inconvenient." Kaiser said to nobody in particular.

Kaiser waited at the bullhead docks for what seemed hours. He checked his scroll for the time, the bullhead should be here by now. The universe was probably conspiring against him if he had to wait for things to happen to him.

Lo and behold the bullhead arrived, it's engine turbines swept Kaiser's hair back a bit. The boy boarded the near empty airship. He gazed at the near barren body of the cargo area and took a seat in front of the windows. Here, he felt himself drift off.

Kaiser heard a slight whirring noise, it was grating to his ears. The boy cracked open one eye when a holographic screen snapped to life. On the screen were a couple mugshots, the most prominent one being of a man with orange hair. The newscast reporter called him Roman Torchwick.

I guess that's the guy working with Taurus. The newscast reporter went on about his past crimes ending with a scroll number to drop anonymous tips. Kaiser input the number into his own scroll, if only to tell others about it. Upon turning the scroll in his hands he noticed a small port for memory cards. Kaiser activated his contact lense, they shifted into its steel mask form without delay. The boy opened a small hatch on one side of the mask. In it lay a memory card of similar size, he quickly ejected it intending to insert it to his scroll.

A pop up screen appeared asking if he wanted to download the data on it. Kaiser tapped on the yes button, the data passed over flawlessly. Kaiser tapped on the photo album, a multitude of files showed up. Kaiser tapped on one, he smiled a bit on opening it. On the photo was a rather young looking Kaiser perusing over some papers while a man posed behind him, a peace sign was positioned right above Kaiser's head. The man himself was sporting shades and a blond ponytail, his smile was almost infectious.

Kaiser was so wrapped in his thoughts that he didn't notice that the bullhead had stopped. By the time he reached the door the bullhead was set perfectly at the losing station. The boy stepped out onto the sidewalk of vale, he took a deep breath of air.

Kaiser approached the sidewalk and hailed a cab. It took a couple tries until one stopped for him.

"Where ya headed kid?"

"The crown motel in lower vale." Kaiser sat down in the backseat. He let his eyes wander for a bit, wondering what type of people he'd meet in the school year.

"You one of them beacon kids right?" The man in the cab asked.

"Yeah. how could you tell?" Kaiser tried to rub the sleep out of his eyes.

"That there bullhead station has only one route."

"Huh, how about that."

"Today is the entrance exam, right?"

"Yes sir, it is." Kaiser tried to stifle a yawn. "Why do you ask?"

"I have a daughter going in this year, freshman ya know?"

Kaiser nodded at the man. "Perhaps we might end up in the same class." The man grunted in acknowledgement.

"Do you have high hopes for her?" Kaiser asked.

"Course I do, she might not look like much but she's a bright little star I'll tell ya."

"That's good." Kaiser sighed.

"Here's your stop kid." The driver slowed the cab to a stop in front of a two story motel. "Best of luck to ya at Beacon." Kaiser nodded at the driver and left, he left a twenty lien note in the passenger seat.

Kaiser stepped into a rundown parking lot, he almost tripped on a crack in the asphalt. A couple rusted cars laid in the cracked lot.

No business it seems. A family came out of one of the rooms.

They came out of 306… great. Kaiser took a detour towards the front desk. He wondered if they cleaned the room out before giving the family the room Kaiser was in previously. Getting to the front desk was no major problem, but waiting in line to ask the motel manager where his stuff ended was too long for him. When he did get to the front he was faced with a tired looking old man.

"Welcome to the crown motel." The line sounds like it had been said millions of times, it probably was considering the old man's age.

"Yeah hi, I was here before but I got in a bit of an accident. My stuff was left here." Kaiser frantically waved his arms around to emphasize his panic.

The senior didn't bother looking at him and instead turned a page from a book he was reading "Anything we find we throw in the dumpster."

Out the door Kaiser went as he searched for his backpack. The foul stench of trash emanating from the dumpster was enough to make Kaiser gag. He lifted the lid, only to find a mountain of trash inside. The boy let out a sigh before rolling up his sleeves and getting to work.

He fished around beer bottles, old coffee filters, and more wrappers than he could count. It took only a minute or two more until he felt the fabric of his backpack. Pulling it towards himself caused displacement among the garbage, some old wrappers spilled on to the ground.

Kaiser unzipped the big pocket on it and retrieved the two items from it. One being a brown leather wallet holding some money he had saved from underground fights. The other item he beheld was a KA-BAR model 5011 combat knife, a gift he received long ago. It wouldn't do him any good at Beacon, but it was something he kept near and dear to his heart. It wouldn't matter if the knife was a viable option or not since he came to vale to make purchases before initiation started.

Goodwitch has warned him ahead of time that during initiation he'd need to extend his combat style, particularly his range. Kaiser wholeheartedly agreed, only problem being that his former access to any sort of weaponry was limited to huntsman shops littered throughout Vale. He decided he'd buy a range weapon for now until he could trade it out for something better. Until then, Kaiser would have to rely on his close quarters combat and his marksmanship to tide him over in Beacon.

Seeing as his backpack was completely soaked through with liquids he'd rather not mention, Kaiser left his backpack in the dumpster. Before leaving, he picked up whatever garbage he spilt and put it back in the dumpster.

Kaiser traveled to the nearest bus stop and waited. A sleek blue bus neared Kaiser's stop, it's clear doors opened as if they were the gates to heaven itself. The boy scanned his scroll on the console at the entrance, the console beeped quietly signifying that Kaiser was alright to board.

He sat in an empty row close to the exit of the bus. The boy looked around himself for any potential dangers. Once the boy assessed that there were none he took a look at a digital map to find the nearest weapons shop. There was one the next street over, Kaiser figures he could walk the rest of the way. He pulled the stop request, the bus driver slowed to a stop at the street corner.

Kaiser jumped out of the bus just as a crowd of people got on. The hustle and bustle of Vale proper was much different to the ghost town-like setting of lower Vale.

Making his way to the other side of the street, Kaiser could see the weapons shop. He pushed the door open while a bell rang on top of the door.

Kaiser gandered at the racks they had, there lay different weapon accessories such as holsters and sheaths. Kaiser looked over some of the weapons in the display cases, he settled on a standard revolver that came packaged with some cheap dust cartridges. Something else caught his attention, two metal rods which were bound together by thin metal wiring. Kaiser selected both items together and was charged for 240 lien, he paid the required amount and left the shop.

Kaiser opened his scroll to check the time.

It was currently 9:02 and he still hadn't eaten breakfast, it was time to fix that. According to his scroll, a breakfast buffet was at least half a mile away from the weapons shop. Kaiser began the trek towards the solution to all his current problems.

20 minutes later he reached his destination: The breakfast platter. Quite the uncreative name if Kaiser had anything to say about it. The aroma of bread and meats hit him as soon as he walked in. He gazed as people stood over the trays of food. Kaiser could hardly wait until he dig into his first real meal in five months. Since the time of his resignation, all he had eaten were cold chicken wraps to at least try to maintain a healthy diet.

Kaiser approached the hostess, she eyed him up.

"Is this a party of one?" The hostess asked

"Yes."

The hostess frowned slightly at him, but didn't deter her from her duty. "That'll be nine lien sir."

Kaiser paid the amount and left three lien in the tip jar. The hostess directed him which booth he was to sit in. Once seated, he made sure he knew exactly where everything was so he could get up and get his food without anyone thinking his booth was empty. It was then when he initiated his plan.

He got back to his table without a problem. He thought he might've wasted a bit of time at the omelette station when he filled his plate with one and a bowl of fruit. He wasted no time in tucking in, he absentmindedly chewed on a piece of apple when he listened in on the conversation behind him. Old habits seem to die hard.

"How long until we get to beacon ren?" A bubbly voice asked.

"A couple hours, we can just go see what the shops have if you're bored." A flatter monotone voice offered.

Kaiser let the flavor of the roasted vegetables wash over him as he contemplated introducing himself. Maybe he'd gain a friend before joining beacon, perhaps be in the same team together? But what if he annoyed the pair behind him, they seemed to be on a date of sorts. He ultimately decided to mind his own business and wait until the bullheads picked him up.

Kaiser was brought out of his musings as he bit his tongue. He looked down at his plate which was already empty, a sign that he should leave. He took a couple more gulps of orange juice and left.

The bullhead station was packed with a boatload of colorful characters both in personality and appearance. Kaiser himself barely made it on after occupying the rest of his time at a quaint little bookstore he found. It was quite a shock to see the difference of the bullhead now that it was occupied by what Kaiser could assume was all his other classmates. The boy once again stood by a bench area where he could rest for a while.

Holographic screens started up again with the announcements from the morning about Roman Torchwick. Kaiser wondered how Torchwick evaded capture for so long, perhaps the police force was terrible. Kaiser glanced at the other students that boarded with him, his eyes settled on a pair of girls embracing. A smile tugged on his lips as he witnessed the pair separating, his eyes widened at the sight of one the girls that looked too young to be in beacon. Kaiser guessed she must've been extremely skilled to have been going to beacon early.

The screens closed and in their place was a holographic display of Professor Goodwitch. She welcomed the students, that much Kaiser paid attention to. The sound of her voice was drowned out as he appreciated the view that the airship ride offered him. The sun shone brightly between the tall buildings of vale. The bullhead was now approaching the landing station. Kaiser made sure to get near the exit so he could be the first one out. He had to retrieve his stuff from the temporary dorm he was housed in.

The boy rushed towards the dormitories the moment the bullhead gates opened. Foliage and bushes alike rustled as Kaiser sped past them. He came to an abrupt stop when he reached the first housing complex.

Kaiser breezed past the glass doors and into the hallway. His room was the third one on the left side of the hallway, it would probably change when the time came to move in with his team. Kaiser grinned at the thought as he swiped his scroll over the pad and entered the room.

The room itself was the same as he left it. The bed was made and the desk had two textbooks, one of which was open. He quickly gathered the two books into a plastic bag he picked up in vale. His sleepwear was hung on the towel rack in the bathroom, he quickly stuffed those into the bag as well. Kaiser gave the room a quick glance to make sure he had everything, he turned the lights off as he left.

Now that he had his belongings, he'd need to store them somewhere. He'd been told by Ozpin that he could store his things in one of the lockers, at the time all the locker had in it was Kaiser's gear. He slowed down to a brisk walk to better appreciate the scenery. Kaiser rounded the corner of the locker room building.

"Dude, stop that." A boy in the beacon uniform pleaded. He was an elk Faunus with tall

"Careful with these, you could poke someone's eye out!" A large armored boy shouted with almost sadistic glee. The boy in question was gripping an elk faunus' antlers, you could hear them creak as the armored boy tried to bend them.

Kaiser was perplexed when he saw nobody around him doing anything about it. Some students were off in the distance reading or hanging out with friends. He decided he'd approach this the same way he did with the majority of his problems.

Commit an act of violence.

Kaiser walked over to the hulking brute and stomp-kicked him in the back of his knee. The brute was forced down on one knee. Kaiser slammed the spine of his textbook into the larger boy's head. Kaiser gripped the bully's burnt orange hair. The armored brute groaned heavily as he was held in place by the smaller boy.

"I thought this school taught us to fight the monsters, not be them." Kaiser let go of the orange haired boy. The boy in question could only regard him with silent rage as he saw the retreating form of shock white hair.

Kaiser approached the downed faunus and held a hand out for him. The elk Faunus gratefully pulled himself up.

"You alright?" Kaiser dusted himself off.

"Yeah, thank you so much."

"No problem."

"Yeah, I'll see you around. I gotta get back to my dorm."

Kaiser looked at the floor. "Oh, yeah go ahead."

He was hoping to garner some conversation with the boy. "I'll see you around."

The boy ran off in the other direction as he waved. "Likewise!" He shouted.

Kaiser waved back at the boy. It was only until he was out of view that he realized he didn't get his name. Kaiser stamped his foot in frustration, he heard a groan from behind him. Kaiser only saw the brute staring at him as if he were about to pop a blood vessel.

Kaiser raised an eyebrow. "What are you looking at?

Kaiser made it to the ballroom where the students were to sleep before initiation. He'd already changed into his sleep wear and settled against the wall where he cracked open his textbook on aura studies. He set aside his scroll in a low brightness so as to not disturb others. Kaiser turned to the table of contents where he found his desired information.

Basic aura techniques. Seeing as he hadn't had the same type of training as the students of beacon Kaiser would need to fall back on basic tricks. He skipped the manual barrier section as aura would act as an automatic barrier. Offensive techniques were especially useful in enhancing weapons. It seemed as if a whole new realm of possibility was opened to the boy.

Kaiser studied for 20 more minutes before tiredness had begun to set in. The boy closed his textbook and set it aside. With a heavy yawn, the boy laid down with his back against the wall. Kaiser tried adjusting in his bag, resulting in the hem of his cotton shirt being pulled downwards. The neckline of the shirt was pulled down a bit, underneath was the beginnings of a jagged scar from a time better forgotten. It irritated Kaiser as he attempted to pull the neckline back up. Kaiser would have wished to get something that would cover his whole body without exposing his secrets.

Kaiser heard the entrance open and stared as a scrawny blond boy strutted amidst the future student body. The reason for his staring was because the blond had come in wearing a sky-blue onesie.

I need to get myself one of those.

Kaiser let his thoughts wander as he drifted off to sleep.
