AN: Danny feels guilty for leaving Valerie in the dark.

"This is kinda silly, don't you think Phantom?" Val asked with a melancholy laugh. But she didn't pull her hand away. Phantom stared off into the distance, silent.

"A ghost and a ghost hunter? How?" Valerie continued. Her shoulders dropped, and her eyes were watery.

"I-m sorry-" Her breath hitched as she pulled her gloved hand away from his to wipe her face. Another laugh turned into a sob that was cut short. He'd waited for far too long. He sat like a garter snake in the grass, devoid of venom or fangs but still threatening nonetheless. And he left her to think if they could really be, unaware that they were the same.

"Well, how about two humans?" He asked, almost jokingly. As though he was about to say 'knock knock,' instead of taking one of the biggest risks he'd ever taken. Valerie raised an eyebrow, question perched on the tip of her tongue. But it did not fall as rings formed around Phantom's waist. It was ethereal, and yet not at the same time. It seemed like something that happened every day, yet also as rare as an eclipse. It shouldn't be, but it was. Soon the setting sun reflected off of black hair, pale skin, and a strained smile with fangs peeking from underneath it.

"Danny?" She sobbed, and threw her arms around him.
