AN: Tucker makes Danny a youtube channel, and Danny begrudgingly goes along with it.
"Danny Phantom Vlogs" A banner could be seen at the top of the page. It was pretty simple, the screen showcasing the Danny Phantom logo against a black background. Sam had made it, I was sure.
"This is such a stupid idea." I complained, lounging back in one of Sam's purple beanbags. Sam, Tucker, and I were crowded around Sam's computer, since she had the fastest internet for Tucker's scheme.
"Are you kidding me? This is gonna be a goldmine!" Tucker was sitting in the computer chair, the orchestrator of the entire thing. The computer screen reflected in his glasses, a youtube channel was pulled up.
"After you get enough subscribers, you can start making money off of it. It' s genius." Sam, the betrayer, leant back in her chair beside me with a satisfied look on her face. I wanted to wipe it off. Didn't they realize that this could be dangerous? What if my parents found out, or I said too much and someone figured out my secret? Someone besides Wes, at least. No one believed him, thank goodness.
"Thank-you, Sam." Tucker spun around to face me and the resident goth. He was beaming with a grin.
"I still don't agree with this. What if my parents see it?" I still didn't understand why Tucker and Sam didn't see what I was talking about. There were just too many risks!
"Danny, I doubt they even know Youtube exists. And it's not like they'd figure out you're Phantom just because of a few videos on youtube." She had a point. Maybe... maybe it wouldn't all go wrong.
"Besides, it is already too late." I whipped around to look at the screen so fast I might've given myself whiplash.
"Tucker!" I yelled. He'd uploaded a video already!
"What did you even upload? We haven't made any videos yet!" A launched to my feet, yanking the blanket I'd had on my lap and chucking it at Tucker's face. It didn't do any damage, but Tucker had to fumble for a second to get it off his head. I could feel my face growing colder, which usually meant that my eyes were glowing.
"I just put up one of the recordings of training your powers. And don't worry, I muted the audio so people can't hear what we were saying."
"Just how long have you been thinking about this?" Because really, he'd already edited a video? I took the blanket Tucker tossed back and sat back down. I let my 'scary eyes' fade and calmed down a bit. I could always just… delete the video. It was my account, anyways.
"Just all week." Tucker shrugged.
"You had time to edit a video just this week?" Sam asked incredulously. I didn't know where Tucker had gotten the time, either. We'd been out late just about every day this week.
"Ok, I might've been thinking about it all month. But I didn't want to bring it up until I had a video." I shook my head at him.
"Well, thanks dude." If he'd really been working on it all month… I had to follow through, right? at least for a little while.
"No problem." He smiled.
I was out chasing a ghost-bear when my phone went off in my bookbag. Well, my second bookbag. I had one for school and one for ghost-hunting. Both were covered in burns and weird stains, though.
The ghost-bear disappeared into my Thermos and I checked my phone. Wow, one am already? I needed to get home soon… Turned out my phone went off because of an email. The only emails I got were for Doomed so I was kinda confused. But that quickly faded when I saw the header. It was from YouTube. I'd gotten a comment on the video! I decided to check it at home, and looked around before diving through the air in the direction of home.
The wind whipped at my clothes and I found myself grinning. I might not have made the video itself, but it was a video of me! Of stuff that I had done! I wondered what they'd commented about, if they were asking a question or just saying I was cool or something. I was so far into my head that I almost flew right past my house! How I missed the big neon sign out front was a mystery to me.
I went intangible, getting a shiver from the sensation, and dropped feet first through my window. I guess I could go through the wall, but then I wouldn't be able to see where I was going. That was the hardest part of intangibility. Or at least the most annoying. I dropped the intangibility and reverted when I landed in my room. I plopped down on my bed and shoved my shoes off, dropping my bookbag as well in one move. I fished my phone out again from the mess of gadgets- my parents really didn't keep track of all of their weapons very well- and turned it on.
It was still open to my email and I felt a rush of elation as I opened the message. There was a bunch of junk about the person's username "HappilyAfter", and some other stuff I didn't bother to read. I was only interested in the comment. It was short, but made me smile nonetheless.
'PHantom! I cant believe ur on youtube!'
There were a few typos, sure, but it made me happy and I didn't care. Maybe if I made more videos, I'd get more comments? I loved that feeling, and I was willing to find out!
"Hi there!" Phantom could be seen floating a few feet above the ground, legs criss-crossed midair. A plain brick wall could be seen behind him. The camera was still, meaning that there probably wasn't anyone behind him. Faint stock-music could be heard playing in the background the entire time. In the top-right corner, the "Made with Kinemaster" watermark could be seen.
"First, I want to say thank-you HappilyAfter for the comment. It made my day." Phantom beamed. His glow was bright, even in the sun.
"Second, well. There isn't really a second thing, I just wanted to say thank-you! So let's get to the video!" He pointed to the right awkwardly and a transition came in from the opposite direction.
The next scene showed Phantom again, just this time it was evident that he was the one holding the camera. The sky could be seen behind him now, and -judging by the way his hair was whipping around his face- he was high up, most likely flying.
"I wasn't really sure what to make a video about, so I figured I'd follow my channel name and make a vlog-" The rest of his words were cut off by a deafening crash. His head whipped around and his eyes locked onto a point in the distance.
"Looks like you're about to get a front-seat view of a ghost fight." Wind could be heard whipping around the mic, making Phantom's words a bit harder to understand. The sky flew past as the ghost glided through the sky as simple as though he was only going for a stroll. Phantom held his arms out like a superhero while flying, so the camera got a close-up view of his face. A viewer noted that he had green freckles, which were alien against his tan skin and if not for those they would've thought the ghost boy was human.
The clouds started moving a bit slower, and viewers caught the glance of a large green blob before Phantom took up the frame. It seemed he was setting the camera on something, so he didn't have to hold it during the fight.
"I'll- uh, see you in a bit." Phantom's gaze darted between the ghost and the camera, and he looked a bit worried. He flew away from the camera and viewers saw why. In the lake behind him there was a humongous ghost- like the kraken and king kong had a baby. Long green tentacles sprouted from where an ape's legs would be, and his glowing hands were clenched around two… wooden beams? Where did he get those? A decrepit dock nearby told the answer. It's great tentacles were splashing water all over, fish flopping on the grass. Luckily there weren't many houses towards this side of town.
The kraken-beast raised its tentacles suddenly, and lifted itself from the water. When it plunged back in, a towering wave and splash issued from it. That showed where the 'explosion' had come from. Water launched high into the sky after the oversized cannonball.
"Hey! Slimy wet and ugly! Over here!" Two scarlet, pearly eyes locked themselves onto the ghost boy. He visibly took a step back- if it could even be called a step while flying.
After a moment of both combatants staring at each other, the fighting broke out. Phantom darted forwards with an uppercut to the beast's jaw, and it retaliated by slamming Phantom in the back with one of the makeshift bats clutched in its hairy hands.A sick crack was heard as the ghost boy was hit, and he went flying towards a large tree. His eyes opened just in time, and he phased through the tree instead of slamming into it face-first. More fists were thrown, and more trees were targeted. At one point Phantom even froze the water around the beast, and that, paired with ecto-fire, left the ghostly beast lying its head on the great expanse of frozen lake, beaten and bruised.
Phantom came back into frame, with ectoplasm splattered in his hair and dribbling from his lips. His suit was torn- the result of being thrown at a pine tree. However, he looked relieved. He grabbed something that had been sitting next to the camera. Apparently it was his oh-so famous Thermos, that he used to capture the ghosts.
"That ghost was… bigger than usual." He quickly glanced between the camera and where the ghost had been almost minutes ago. People could see a few fish flopping on the grass. It seemed that Phantom noticed them two, and he flew back over to put them back in the water. One slipped from his grasp and hit him in the face. He cringed but returned it to the water nonetheless.
"Ew, ew, ew…" Phantom complained when he returned to the camera. Some… slime could be seen on his pants. It was natural, however. Most likely from one of the fish.
"Glad I don't have to wash it out." Phantom looked at the slime with disgust and went intangible. The muck went right through him and could be heard plopping on the ground with a wet smack.
"Much better." The ghost-boy smiled and grabbed the camera from the tree it'd been sitting in.
A few more fights were showcased- with Phantom's victory each time- but other than that there wasn't much to the video. Phantom didn't show where he lived or anything like that, which disappointed some of his viewers and frustrated those that only wanted to use the video to track him down. It was clear that he was being careful with what he let on. Before long there was another transition, which had Phantom sitting in the same place as in his introduction. It was pretty apparent that he'd just recorded one after the other, as the lighting was the same.
"I hope you guys enjoyed a peek into what kinda stuff I do most of the time. My "routine" of sorts." The ghost ran a hand through his hair and looked off camera.
"Please like, comment, subscribe all that. I love hearing from people!" He beamed, literally glowing. A green blush on his cheeks brightened and with it his freckles. The image was instantly screenshotted for multiple Phantom fan-clubs.
"Bye!" With that the video came to a close.
Three weeks later, Danny's channel got monetized. Sam connected it to her bank account, since Danny didn't have one and he was worried his parents would get suspicious since he'd have to ask for them the help set it up. The ghost-boy thoroughly enjoyed taking his friends out to eat, even if he decided to save up for a car and college. After all, he couldn't fly everywhere for forever.
"This was an awesome idea." Danny said, as he put the bills back in his wallet as they walked out of Nasty Burger with their spoils. They were having a movie night at Sam's in celebration.
"Told you so!" Sam punched him in the shoulder.
"I love you guys." Danny pulled his two friends into a hug, and that moment walking home beneath the stars Danny would never forget.
"Race you to my house!" Sam bolted off down the street, food in hand.
"Careful!" Tucker chided as he started after her.
"You'll trip and smash our food!"
Danny only smiled and started after his two best friends in the entire world.
