Chapter 5

"Karen be careful!"

"Relax Mokuba, I have it." Mokuba frowned up at Karen, the 2 in Kaibaland on a performance stage. Karen wearing her performing/working attire of a gold dress that brushes her knees, short brown boots, and a red ribbon tied around her neck while standing on a stepping ladder hanging up decor on the stage.

"You only recently got out of the hospital and back from your days off. Can't you let the stage crew take care of this?" Mokuba questioned with a frown.

"Nonsense; I can do it myself I have before. Besides, I don't have any bruises or anything." She smiled, hanging the decor up.

"If you're sure." Mokuba replied, still frowning.

You know he has a point. Fire sighed.

"You worry too much, it's safe." Karen smiled. Just as she said that, she tripped on the ladder making her gasp Mokuba and Fire both yelling but before she would fall to the ground someone caught her.

"Honestly it's like you're trying to go back to the hospital." Kaiba scowled, holding Karen bridal style.

"Hehe sorry?" Karen sheepishly laughed with a sweatdrop.

"Humph. Worry about apologizing later." Kaiba told her sternly. "I need you for something anyway."

"Eh? What for?" She asked, surprised. But instead of answering, Kaiba carried her away, making her yelp.

"Seto! I can walk! Come on!" She yelled. "Mokuba help me out!"

"Sorry Karen!" Mokuba called to her. "I can't exactly help you out of that situation!"

"Traitor!" Karen yelled.

Kaiba walked to his limo, setting Karen inside before going in as the driver began driving.

"That was so uncalled for Seto." Karen scowled. "And I have a performance soon too!"

"The performance can be rescheduled." Kaiba told her as he told the driver to drive to the museum.

"The museum? Seto what's going on?" She questioned worried.

"Something about a tablet that I need to look over." Kaiba frowned deeply. "It's probably going to be a waste of my time in the end."

"Tablet? You mean the one that's being brought here by the new Secretary General for the Egyptian artifacts in the museum?" She asked, surprised.

"How did you know?" He questioned.

"My dad works in the museum, remember? He mentioned that I should check it out one of these days." She frowned. "How did you find out?"

"This woman who goes by Ishiizu told me over the phone a little bit ago." Kaiba remarked. "She wanted you to come along, so here we are, in my limo about to head there."

"Ishizu? Oh wait Ishizu Ishtar. I think that's the Secretary." Karen muttered thoughtfully. "Did she say why she wanted to see us about it?"

"Something about the Rare Hunters, in addition to stuff about the past." Kaiba retorted.

"The past?" She asked, surprised.

Karen. Fire frowned.

Yeah. This is no coincidence. Karen thought back with a frown.

"And she also wants us to see that stone tablet too?"

"Yes." Kaiba confirmed. "Oh, we're here." The 2 stepped out of the limo, walking to go inside the museum to see a young black haired woman standing, waiting for them. "Welcome. It is my pleasure to meet you 2. Mr. Kaiba, Karen." She said. "I am Ishizu Ishtar."

"Pleasure." Karen spoke with a bow.

"Humph." Kaiba grunted. "We already acquainted via the phone call early."

"Of course. But I felt it was necessary for Karen here." Ishizu smiled, facing Karen. "I have met your father Iemitsu and he has been a huge help for the Egyptian Exhibit."

"Heh. Glad my dad could help. He loves this kind of thing." Karen admitted with a small smile. "So uh, Seto mentioned you wanted to show us the Stone Tablet you had brought from Egypt."

"Yes." Ishizu nodded, turning around. "Please follow me." They nodded as they followed Ishizu, Karen looking at her.

Fire you saw it too, right? Her necklace. Karen thought.

Yeah. It's probably a Millennium Item. Keep your guard up. Fire told her. After reaching the basement to the museum, Ishizu opened the door to reveal the Stone Tablet on the wall. In addition to that, a long bluish-white haired woman wearing similar clothes to Ishizu stood in front of the tablet.

"Looks to be in proper shape." The woman spoke to herself. She then turned around upon hearing the footsteps of the 3 and revealing her face. Her eyes a light blue color. "Oh! Hey Ishizu." She spoke before glancing between Kaiba and Karen. "And the guests you told me were coming." While she talked, Kaiba glanced at her and felt some sort of...familiarity.

What is this feeling? Kaiba thought before he shook it off. Must be some crazy trick or something.

What…? Karen blinked, hearing Fire's shocked voice and saw her spirit's face contorted in shock upon seeing the woman.

Fire? What's wrong? She thought worried.

I… I feel as if… I know her. Fire thought, a hand on her head.

Eh? Karen thought, shocked, looking at the woman.

"Allow me to introduce Kisara." Ishizu gestured to the woman. "She has been helping out my team with our work. Her task is to make sure the ancient artifacts we find are in top shape before we put them on display."

"N-Nice to meet you." Karen spoke with a nod.

"Pleasure." Kisara smiled.

"So this is the tablet?" Kaiba spoke as he approached before laughing. "It's just some old rock. Why would this concern me?" Karen blinked walking to the first stone tablet before she grew wide eyed.

"Wait a second Seto look at the pictures closely!" She gasped. "Look at the one with the pentagram! Doesn't it seem familiar?" Kaiba looked at it, then gaped.

"Now I see what you're saying…!"

"They're Duel Monsters…!" Karen muttered, shocked.

"Yes. For Duel Monsters originated from Egypt from the beginning." Ishizu nodded. Karen grew wide eyed a frown on her face.

"Pegasus… He mentioned when he went to Egypt a few years ago it was when it inspired him to create Duel Monsters." She muttered.

"Exactly. Of course that fact isn't worldly known, hence why not many know of it." Ishizu said. "Pegasus had created Duel Monsters based on this mural here. There had been a theory of humans and monsters once lived together. The Ancient Egyptians believed the monsters were the source of disasters, wars, and suffering. And it was the Pharaoh's magicians who sealed them in stone tablets to stop the disasters and bring peace. Yet those sealed in the tablets gained evil power. Priests who disobeyed the pharaoh manipulated the magicians and used the stone tablets to start fighting."

"Wait so then that would be as if like a duel, right?" Karen questioned, shocked.

"That is correct." Ishizu nodded, walking to the side. "Now you 2 please look at this other mural. This is the one I wished to show you."

"Humph. Let's get this over with." Karen swallowed but nodded as they walked over looking to the second tablet. One look caused them both to be shocked.

"Wait! Isn't that!" Karen gasped.

"Yugi! And above him is the Dark Magician!" Kaiba gaped, shocked.

"There is a young priest fighting the Pharaoh." Ishizu pointed. "And above him is clearly the Blue Eyes White Dragon."

"That is right." Kisara nodded. "The young pharaoh controls a dark spellcaster, and a priest with a white beast confronts him. The mural is explaining an ancient duel between duelists."

"Not only that, but the Millennium Puzzle and 7 other items are above the Pharaoh and the priest." Ishizu added. "Legend says that when these 8 items are gathered, unimaginable power will appear. But this mystery is yet to be solved. But what is important is the fight between the priest and the Pharaoh. And this fight is happening again."

"A-Again?" Karen blinked.

"Oh please." Kaiba snorted. "I could care less about some 3,000 year old battle. It doesn't concern me. And it shouldn't concern you lot either."

" no matter how hard you deny it, this is indeed a historic fact." Ishizu said, as her necklace began to glow. "Open your heart to the past. Both yourself and the spirit of the Bracelet."

"What?" Karen gasped.

How does she?! Fire gasped.

"Nonsense!" Kaiba began. The light shined brightly, blinding them both before they gasped and looked below and were shocked to see another version of Kaiba, Summoning a spirit of a Duel Monster and 2 familiar shadowed figures to the side. One sitting on a throne wearing the Millennium Puzzle and the other standing almost protectively next to them, wearing the Millennium Bracelet before the image vanished and found themselves on their knees, shocked.

"What was?" Kaiba began, shocked.

"What you had seen was a vision of a duel 3000 years ago." Ishizu told them. "Egypt has continuously supported the dynasty for 3000 years and inscribed here is the Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty."

"The Pharaoh?" Karen questioned, as Kaiba helped her up.

"But someone has scratched his name off." Ishizu frowned. "His name is also missing from his tomb and temple. Only this pharaoh has been erased from Ancient Egyptian history. The Nameless Pharaoh from 3000 years ago."

Nameless Pharaoh… Fire choked, as Karen looked at Ishizu, shocked.

"Nonsense! This is a fake!" Kaiba snapped.

"Is it not." Kisara frowned deeply. "Or would you prefer to deny what you saw?"

"At ease Kisara. It can be reasonable for Mr. Kaiba to deny this. So we shall talk about something more realistic." Ishizu spoke. "We had talked on the phone about some unique rare cards. What if I told you Pegasus created them?"

"Pegasus did?" Karen grew wide eyed.

"Yes. Look above at the 3 cards drawn at the top of the mural." Ishizu said. "Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra. 3 God monsters. Archaeologists called them God Cards. Pegasus had created them based on these carvings."

"You lie." Kaiba retorted. "If he did, how come he didn't use them against me or Yugi during the Duelist Kingdom Tournament he hosted?"

"Because they're dangerous cards." Karen muttered. They all looked to Karen, her face paling slightly. "I heard of them before… Depending on the user, the cards can be good or evil. But they are also forbidden cards. Because if they are misused, they take the opponent's life. They're practically the ultimate weapon."

"Yes that is right." Ishizu nodded. "Even Pegasus was afraid of these cards. And upon his request, the Egypt Archaeological Society sealed them away in the Valley of Kings. But someone has stolen 2 of them."
"The Rare Hunters I take it." Kaiba frowned.

"Yes. I see you heard of them. They secretly hunt rare cards around the world as a group of thieves smuggling them for profit and rumored to make rare cards illegally. But no one knows their identity. And I wish for you 2 to retrieve the God Cards before the worst happens."

"Humph. So in other words, host a tournament." Kaiba smirked. "If what you're saying is right, then a tournament will draw them all out."

"That is the idea." Kisara confirmed. "By doing that, the Rare Hunters will be forced to come out. Like the moths they are. The tournament will be the flame they're drawn to."

"Seems easy enough." Kaiba remarked. "Sure, I can do that."

"But how can we know which ones are the Rare Hunters though? I highly doubt they'll just make themselves known so easily." Karen frowned.

"Which is why I am giving this." Ishizu said, holding out a card to them. They looked at the card and gasped.

"That's-!" Karen gaped.

"Obelisk the Tormentor." Kaiba said, taking the card.

"The other 2 were stolen." Ishizu said to them. "In order to get them back, I entrust Obelisk the Tormentor to you."

"You want us to use this card to lure them in?" Kaiba questioned.

"That is correct." Ishizu nodded. "And before you 2 say anything, I trust that you both will indeed manage to return them." Kaiba looked at Ishizu, then Obelisk, then back at Ishizu, his lips formed a sly smile.

"It's not every day a very rare and powerful card ends up in my possession. What if I choose to keep it and the other 2 for myself?"

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Kisara warned. "You may be a powerful duelist Seto Kaiba, but not even you can handle all 3."

"Humph. Just watch me." Kaiba shot back. Karen at once elbowed Kaiba, making him grunt.

"I'll make sure he returns them." She assured quickly.

"Great." Kisara nodded.

"Now I'm hoping you can answer some questions of my own." Karen frowned, holding up her bracelet. "Or the one who you know is also here wants to know."

"Sure." Kisara spoke. "What are your questions Karen?"

"Or should we say Fire." Ishizu noted. Karen frowned as her bracelet glowed, Fire taking over.

"So you know who I am and more then you let on." Fire remarked with a frown.

"Indeed. But unfortunately, our knowledge is limited for yourself." Ishizu frowned.

"Explain." Fire frowned.

"We know that the one who held upon the Millennium Bracelet was a close confidant to the Pharaoh of that dynasty and that the word 'fire' was inscribed. Which we believe is your name, but that is all we know." Ishizu explained.

"I see…" Fire frowned, looking at Ishizu's necklace. "And that necklace itself is a Millennium Item."

"It is." Kisara confirmed. "The wielder of the Millennium Necklace is granted the ability to see the future."

"What a bunch of looney nonsense!" Kaiba snapped. "I make my own future! Not some piece of jewelry!"

"Seto hush." Fire snapped, still facing Ishizu. "So it cannot control one's mind, right?"

"That is correct." Ishizu confirmed.

So back to square 1. Karen frowned.

"Dammit." Fire muttered, before she sighed. "Thanks for confirming for me then."

"Humph. We got our task, so let's go." Kaiba told Fire as he turned to leave.

"Wait Kaiba." Kaiba stopped, but didn't turn around.

"What?" He demanded.

"Kisara shall be assisting you with the tournament." Ishizu told him. "Not just as a secondary commissioner, but as a participant to help you with the Rare Hunters."

"So you're a Duelist as well." Fire noted to Kisara.

"I am." Kisara smiled.

"Then you have a rare card even the Rare Hunters would want?" Kaiba questioned. Kisara pulled her deck out and skimmed through it before pulling out and revealing 3 copies of a card Seto Kaiba was all too familiar with. Blue-Eyes White Dragon! Kaiba gaped before gnashing his teeth.

"Is this some kind of a joke?!" Kaiba snarled. "There are only 4 Blue-Eyes White Dragons in the world! I own the only 3 and ripped the 4th one in half! How can you possibly have 3 copies?!"

"Pegasus could be trolling you?" Fire deadpanned, Karen facepalming at her darker self.

"Humph! It wouldn't surprise me at this point." Kaiba growled.

"It's your fault you make it easy for him." Fire sighed.

"Ugh…!" Kaiba grunted. "Anyway, if that's all, we will be going now."

"Hope to see you again." Fire nodded.

With that, the 3 left as Fire allowed Karen back control who sighed.

"Well that was something." Karen muttered.

"Yeah." Kaiba agreed with a frown. "And now we have this girl" gestures to Kisara. "to take care of too."

"Oh come on Seto. Even I know for a fact you don't mind since she has Blue Eyes too." Karen scoffed, facing Kisara. "Don't mind him, he's very territorial when it comes to Blue Eyes."

"Really?" Kisara questioned.

"Heh. I guess this means that I have to face you at some point." Kaiba glanced at Kisar and laughed lightly. "There can only be 1 Master of Blue-Eyes, and that is me."

"See?" Karen said, as they went in the limo.

"I do." Kisara laughed.

"Take us back to Kaibaland." Karen instructed the driver who nodded. "Mokuba is there and we have a lot of planning to do to make this tournament happen. And my best bet is that we make it a Rare Card ante duel."

"Good idea." Kaiba nodded.

"I'm in agreement with that." Kisara agreed.

"But the thing is, it can't be a small tournament though." Karen frowned.

"Oh it won't be no small tournament." Kaiba smirked. At this Karen and Kisara looked up at Kaiba.

"Dare I ask?" Karen sweatdropped.

"All duelists will be allowed to enter." Kaiba continued. "Well, all of those that have a high rarity card and have the dueling skills necessary. I don't want any weaklings in this tournament."

"Yeah but there are a lot of Duelists, Seto." Karen reminded him. "I mean to fit all of them in a tournament, you'd need it to be as big as a City."

"The entirety of Domino City will do." Kaiba retorted. "So once everything is finalized, the City will be closed off until the tournament is over."

"The whole city?!" Karen gaped.

Oh this is getting exciting. Fire grinned.

"That's right." Kaiba smirked.

"Oh this has got to be the biggest thing I ever planned…" Karen muttered. "Registrations, locating Duelists, dueling locations, keeping track of Duelists in general, also of course cards in hand…"

"Don't worry. Mokuba, Kisara, along with myself, will be helping with that." Kaiba remarked.

"It's gonna be a long process." Karen sighed. "Do you have any idea on how to locate and keep track of them?"

"Absolutely." Kaiba smirked. "I'm making a duel disk system. It will have a chip within it that'll allow us to keep track of everyone within the City for the tournament."

"Duel Disk system?" Karen questioned, confused. "Is this some sort of continuation to that portable disk you had before?"

"Yes, but this will be better." Kaiba told her.

"How so?" She asked curiously.

"Allow me to show you 2." Kaiba told her and Kisara. They blinked looking to one another curious.

The limo stopped at Kaiba Corp, where the 2 followed Kaiba inside going to the lab seeing Mokuba already there.

"I got it out like you asked Nii-sama." Mokuba grinned.

"Thank you Mokuba." Kaiba nodded before taking it and turning around to face Kisara and Karen. "This is the new duel disk system. This one is a mere prototype. However, I've made 2 more prototypes."

"2 more?" Kisara questioned.

"That's right." Kaiba went over to another 2 drawers and opened them, taking out 2 more duel disk systems and tossed them to Kisara and Karen.

"How do they work?" Karen asked, catching it and looking at it.

"There's an ON button on the bottom of the duel disk." Kaiba answered as he pressed the ON button; thus his duel disk activated. "That's just a simple matter. The duel disk will also enable virtual holograms of our cards. Like the previous one I had designed." He smirked as he went over to another drawer and pulled a packet. "This is a contract I made with Pegasus in regards to the Duel Monsters rules. He has agreed to allow me to change the rules of the game. For example, each duelist will have 4000 Life Points, and high Level monsters like a 5 and 6 will need 1 Tribute to Summon it. Levels 7 and higher will need 2 Tributes." He then pulled out Obelisk from his Deck. "As for cards such as this, it requires 3 Tributes. Fusion monsters cannot attack on the turn they're Summoned. Unless a card or effect is played that allows Fusion monsters to attack the turn they're Summoned. Like Quick Attack for example." Karen read the packet looking through.

"Fair rules. Plus now we can direct attack too. That's no doubt gonna make a lot of people happy." She chuckled to herself, as she flipped a page. "Hold on, there are some cards that aren't allowed?"

"Correct." Kaiba confirmed.

"While Pegasus allowed every card that he publicly released, some are illegal." Kisara explained. "Whether it's because they're too strong, or because they were world tournament prize winners. And those are just 2 examples."

"Makes sense. Like Hinotama able to deal 500 points of damage to your opponent. That's insane." Karen huffed.

"There are more illegal cards than that one." Kisara frowned. "But that's just an example."

"Well all in all, the rules seem simple enough and easy to understand. Plus giving less restrictions then before. Lots of people will want in, plus for the rare cards they could win." Karen hummed, setting the packet down.

"That's right." Kaiba grinned. "These 3 are the first 3 successful prototypes out of all the tests I've done since Pegasus's Duelist Kingdom Tournament. So we will be using these versions. I've already got several shops opened up for duelists to obtain their duel disks like these."

"You move fast." Karen smiled.

"I actually like this design." Kisara looked it over. "Not saying the previous design was bad, but this one feels better to wear."

"And you don't have to throw it either." Karen added.

"Yeah." Kaiba grinned. "I've already registered myself and you into the tournament, Karen." He glanced at Kisara. "I'm going to register you in a bit. I just wanted to get these duel disks to you 2 so you can duel in the tournament."

"Sounds great." Karen nodded, facing Kisara. "How about we give them a test run?' Kaiba smirked in amusement at that.

"Well, what do you say Kisara?" Kaiba grinned. Kisara glanced between Karen and Kaiba, then she smiled.

"I'd be a fool to refuse." Kisara retorted. "So sure."

And I'll be able to show off my Deck's power. Kisara thought. Seto Kaiba believes that I just only own 3 copies of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Well, he and Karen will be in for a surprise.

"Great. We can use the testing room, right Seto?" Karen asked.

"That's right." Kaiba nodded. "Mokuba, set the room for them.I have an announcement to make to the City."

"Wait you're gonna do it now?" Karen asked, surprised, as she put on her Duel Disk.

"Didn't I just say that the duel disks are in mass production?" Kaiba remarked. "So to answer your question, yes Karen, I'm announcing the tournament now."

"But we haven't done much of the planning yet Seto!" Karen panicked.

"Don't worry Karen. We have everything under control." Mokuba assured, pushing Karen. "You just relax and have fun dueling Kisara."

"Oh that assures me." Karen muttered sarcastically, yet let herself be pushed by Mokuba. Kaiba watched as Kisara, Mokuba and Karen left the lab. He left soon after.

"Alright. Everything is set up." Mokuba spoke to Kisara and Karen via his headset in the control area of the room.

"Thanks Mokuba." Karen nodded.

Ready Fire?

Let's rock. Fire grinned. Karen smiled as her bracelet once again glowed as Fire took control smoothing her dress.

"Ok! All ready Kisara?" Fire smirked.

"I am!" Kisara retorted as she activated her duel disk. "I should hope you're ready!" She smiled. "Ishizu doesn't call me the Blue-Eyes Maiden for nothing! And you'll soon see why!"

"Sounds like fun." Fire smirked, activating her duel disk. "Then let's see it!"

"DUEL!"

"I'll start!" Kisara grinned as she drew. (Kisara's hand: 6 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 5 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.) Kisara looked at her hand and smiled. "This duel will be fun. I Summon Maiden with the Eyes of Blue to my field." A long bluish-white haired woman with blue eyes appeared onto Kisara's field. (Maiden with the Eyes of Blue, Level 1 LIGHT Spellcaster-type monster, ATK/DEF: 0. Kisara's hand: 5 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 5 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.) Fire grew wide eyed upon seeing the monster.

It looks just like her…! Karen grew wide eyed.

Just when you think it can't get any weirder. Fire thought back. Kisara grabbed 2 cards from her hand and set them.

"I end my turn with 2 face-downs." Kisara concluded. "It's your turn now." (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 5 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

A monster with 0 ATK and DEF points. So it must have an effect. Fire thought. "My turn draw!" (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 6 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

"I Summon Fire Lotus Assassin." Fire voiced, appearing on her field a brown haired green eyed woman wearing a long sleeve brown-red tunic, black leggings, black boots, wielding knives and a sword with a lotus symbol on the tunic. (Fire Lotus Assassin, Attribute: FIRE, Level: 3, Type: Warrior/Effect, ATK/DEF: 1300/800. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 5 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

"Assassin attack Maiden with Eyes of Blue! Quick Flame!" Fire yelled. Her assassin disappeared before reappearing behind Maiden, about to strike with her sword. Kisara's lips formed a smile.

"Thank you." Kisara grinned. "If Maiden with the Eyes of Blue is targeted for an attack, I can switch her battle position to negate the attack." Maiden went into a defensive stance and blocked the Assassin's attack. "But that's not all. In addition, I can Special Summon 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon from either my hand, Deck, or GY to my field!"

"What?!" Fire gaped. Kisara grabbed the card that ejected out of her Deck before placing onto her field. The mighty white dragon with blue eyes appeared onto Kisara's field; roaring at Fire. (Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Level 8 LIGHT Dragon-type monster, ATK/DEF: 3000/2500. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 5 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

"So we meet again my bane of existence." Fire said to Blue Eyes.

Not the time. Karen sighed.

"So, what will you do now?" Kisara wondered.

"Hmm... I place 2 cards face-down and end my turn." Fire said. (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

"Draw!" Kisara declared as she drew. (Kisara's hand: 4 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.) Kisara looked at the card she drew and nodded.

"By discarding my Sage with the Eyes of Blue and targeting my Maiden, I can send them both to the GY in order to Special Summon 1 Blue-Eyes monster from my Deck." Just as Kisara did that, Maiden glowed. "Oh, and when Maiden is targeted by an effect, I can Special Summon 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon from either my hand, Deck, or GY."

"You gotta be kidding me." Fire deadpanned as a 2nd Blue-Eyes White Dragon appeared onto Kisara's field, in addition to a spiritual white dragon. (Dragon Spirit of White, Level 8 LIGHT Dragon-type monster, ATK/DEF: 2500/2000. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 4000.)

I don't know that white dragon. Karen frowned.

"A different white dragon." Fire muttered.

"Dragon Spirit of White." Kisara told her. "If it's Normal or Special Summoned, I can banish 1 Spell/Trap on your field."

"What?" Fire gasped.

"I'll banish your middle face-down." Kisara pointed at it. Dragon Spirit of White fired a beam of white energy at the set card; thus making it vanish.

"Different effects left and right. It puts Seto to shame." Fire muttered.

"Seto Kaiba will want my Deck once he sees it in action." Kisara closed her eyes, then opened them after a few seconds. "But I won't let him have it."

"I'll believe it." Fire hummed.

"I'll worry about Seto's anger for later." Kisara retorted as she thrusted her right hand forward. "Battle! Now my Dragon Spirit, attack her Assassin!" Dragon Spirit of White opened its mouth before launching a beam of energy at Fire's monster. Assassin was hit, making her cry out, being destroyed, Fire shielding herself from the shockwave of the attack. (Fire's LP: 4000 - 1200 = 2800. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"This was short." Kisara remarked. "Now my Blue-Eyes White Dragons, attack her directly! White Lightning!" The 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragons opened their mouths before firing at Fire.

"I activate my face-down! Negate Attack to negate the attack and end the battle!" Fire yelled. A shield appeared to block the 2 attacks. Despite the failed attempt, Kisara smiled.

"I knew it wouldn't be that easy to beat you." Kisara grinned.

"Oh and that's not all." Suddenly knives were stabbed Dragon Spirit, causing it to screech and be destroyed. "Assassin's effect. When she's destroyed by battle, the monster that destroyed her is also destroyed." Fire smirked.

"Not bad." Kisara remarked. "In that case, I end my turn with a set monster." (Kisara's hand: 2 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"My turn then; draw!" Fire voiced. (Kisara's hand: 2 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 4 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"I'm curious about what you'll do next." Kisara smiled. "Getting over 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragons will not be an easy task. But I'm certain you'll be able to pull it off."

"Thanks for the confidence." Fire smiled. "I Summon Fire Lotus Celtic Maiden!" Her Celtic appeared onto the field elegantly. (Fire Lotus Celtic Maiden, Attribute: LIGHT, Level: 4, Type: Spellcaster/Effect, ATK/DEF: 1300/1400. Kisara's hand: 2 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Celtic Maiden's effect. When she's Summoned, I can add a Spell card from my deck to my hand." Fire said, adding her card. "I add Lotus Treasure. I then place 2 cards face-down and end my turn." (Kisara's hand: 2 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 2 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Oh?" Kisara looked at the position Fire's monster was in. "In ATK mode? What are you planning?"

"Call me unpredictable." Fire grinned. Kisara's smile widened a bit.

"I can see that." Kisara remarked as she drew a card from her Deck. (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 2 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.) Kisara glanced at her hand, then her field, then at Fire's hand and field.

We each have 2 face-downs. Kisara thought. But with this, I can Summon my strongest monster now at any given time. It won't be able to attack due to the new rules, but I don't see her getting over it so easily. But first, I have to test the waters.

"I switch 1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon to Defense Mode." Kisara spoke as she placed 1 of her Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards into Defense, the hologram followed suit. After that, Kisara thrusted her right hand forward. "Now my other Blue-Eyes White Dragon, attack her Celtic Maiden! White Lightning!" Blue-Eyes White Dragon fired white lightning from its mouth. However...

"Trap activate! Barrier of Fire Lotus! By sending a Fire Lotus card from my hand to the GY, the attack is negated and the battle is over!" Fire yelled, holding up a card. "I send Fire Lotus Archer to the GY!" A barrier of burning lotus petals formed around Celtic Maiden, blocking the attack. (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"I end my turn." Kisara remarked. "So go ahead."

"My turn, draw!" Fire yelled. (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 2 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Surely you can do better than just defend." Kisara spread her arms out. "However, a good defense can be a good offense, depending on the circumstances."

"That is indeed true." Fire smiled. "I Summon Fire Lotus Kitsune Cub!" Appearing was a small vermillion fox cub with 2 tails, the paws and tail tips dark red, gold eyes, and marks of lotus petals on its tails. (Fire Lotus Kitsune Cub, Attribute: FIRE, Level: 2, Type: Beast/Effect, ATK/DEF: 300/200. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Kitsune's effect! When this card is Summoned, I can Tribute it to Special Summon Fire Lotus Kyuubi Kurama from my hand or Deck by sacrificing another Fire Lotus monster I control." Fire said. "So I sacrifice Celtic Maiden! A vicious beast cloaked in bloody red flames shall surface the deceased! Burn all! Fire Lotus Kyuubi Kurama!" Both Celtic Maiden and Kitsune Cub burst in flames. The fire morphing to become a blood red nine tailed fox with ruby red eyes, his tail tips covered in flamed lotus petals, and flames at its paws. (Fire Lotus Kyuubi Kurama, Attribute: FIRE, Level: 7, Type: Beast/Effect, ATK/DEF: 2700/2000. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"How fascinating." Kisara hummed. "It has more ATK than my Blue-Eyes White Dragon's DEF. But there's more to your move than that. You added Lotus Treasure to your hand last turn."

"True, but I won't be using it yet." Fire smiled. "Kurama's effect activates! When he is Summoned, I can Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Fire Lotus monsters from my GY. So arise Fire Lotus Assassin and Fire Lotus Archer!" Kurama howled as Assassin appeared on the along with a black haired violet eyes woman wearing a flowing white dress like archery attire with a lotus symbol, holding a red bow and green quiver. (Fire Lotus Archer, Attribute: FIRE, Level: 3, Type: Warrior/Effect, ATK/DEF: 1400/1000. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Now I activate Lotus Treasure this allows me to draw 1 card for every Fire Lotus on my field. I have a total of 3, so I draw 3 cards!" She said;drawing 3 more cards. (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 3 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.) Fire looked at her cards and smiled.

"Come to me once again." She hummed.

"Hmm?" Kisara wondered aloud.

"I activate the Spell card, Guidance of the Fire Phoenix! By Tributing 2 Fire Lotus monsters, I can Special Summon Fire Lotus Blazing Phoenix from my hand or Deck!" Fire yelled. Kisara watched as Archer and Assassin burst into flames. From their flames arose a phoenix. (Fire Lotus Blazing Phoenix, attribute: FIRE, type: Winged-Beast, ATK/DEF: 2600/2800. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 4000. Fire's hand: 2 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"So that's your ace monster." Kisara hummed, a light smile on her face.

"That's right." Fire smiled, glancing at Phoenix. "Truly my guiding sun."

"In mythology, the phoenix means rebirth." Kisara noted.

"That's right. Pegasus said he hoped some day Karen would be like Phoenix. Reborn to become a confident person who can believe in herself." Fire smiled, glancing at Karen who smiled fondly at Phoenix. "It inspired her in more ways than one."

"And you want to help her with that." Kisara smiled. "Truly a good thing."

"She's done a lot for me and still is." Fire chuckled. "Least I could do for my Hikari."

"I'm glad." Kisara retorted "And I believe I too will have some influence on her life. Even if I don't know what that is yet." She smiled. "But that's something we will find out."

"Heh trust me. If you can help me convince her she's got a thing for the king." Fire grinned, ignoring Karen's shriek. "You'd be doing her a favor."

"King?" Kisara repeated. "Oh yeah! Yuto Muto. Seto Kaiba's greatest rival."

"Yup that's him." Fire grinned.

Fire! Karen shrieked.

"Ok I'll stop." Fire chuckled. "Now Kurama! Attack her Blue Eyes that's in DEF mode!" Kurama howled, summoning flames around him before launching at the Blue Eyes. Blue-Eyes howled as he burnt to a crisp, making Kisara tsk.

"Now Phoenix, attack her other Blue Eyes! At this moment, Phoenix's effect activates! When Phoenix battles, she gains an additional 300 ATK for every Fire Lotus monster on the field! I have 2, so she gains 600 ATK!" Fire yelled, Phoenix's flames burned brightly as her attack power rose. (Fire Lotus Blazing Phoenix ATK: 2600 - 3200) The flames from Phoenix's attack burned Kisara's 2nd Blue-Eyes White Dragon to a crisp. (Kisara's LP: 4000 - 200 = 3800. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 3800. Fire's hand: 2 cards. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"Now all I have left is my Set monster." Kisara noted before she turned back to face Fire. "But that won't matter too much longer. Once my next turn comes, that is."

Eh? Karen voiced, surprised.

Looks like she's got an ace of her own. Fire thought with a smirk.

"I place a card face-down and end my turn." (Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 3800. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.) Kisara then drew for her turn and looked at the card she drew. Her smile returned.

"Thank you." Kisara spoke. "Had you not destroyed my 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragons on my field, I wouldn't be set up to Summon this monster from my hand. See, I need to control less monsters than my opponent in order to Special Summon this monster."

"So you do have an ace up your sleeve." Fire remarked. "With me having 2 and you having just your set monster, the condition is met."

"Indeed." Kisara confirmed as she grabbed a card from her Deck. "So by sending Blue-Eyes Ancient Dragon from my Deck to the GY, I can Special Summon another from my hand." A dragon in a similar appearance to that of Blue-Eyes White Dragon appeared next to Kisara's set monster. (Blue-Eyes Ancient Dragon, Level 8 LIGHT Dragon-type monster, ATK/DEF: 3000/2500. Kisara's hand: 3 cards. Kisara's LP: 3800. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.)

"First things first, its name is treated as Blue-Eyes White Dragon while on the field and in the GY." Kisara explained. "But that's not all. Once it is Summoned, I can revive 1 Blue-Eyes monster or 1 Level 1 LIGHT monster from my GY. So I'll revive my 2nd Ancient Dragon, who shall revive one of Blue-Eyes White Dragons that you destroyed last turn." The 2 monsters appeared onto Kisara's field. All 3 dragons roared in Fire's direction.

Up in the control room, the machines were going crazy.

"This is nuts!" Mokuba gaped. "Is Kisara's control over Blue-Eyes far stronger than Seto's? Or is there something I'm missing?"

Kisara gestured to 1 of her set cards.

"You're probably wondering why I haven't used any of my set cards since I set them. Well, you're about to see 1 of them now. I activate the Spell card, Polymerization!" Kisara announced as said set card flipped face-up. "With this, I shall fuse 2 of my Blue-Eyes White Dragons on the field with the Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon in my hand!" All 3 Dragons soared into the Fusion Portal above Kisara.

"Alternative?" Fire gaped.

"Yes!" Kisara remarked. "Dragons of light fuse to become another self! Become a different new power waiting to be unleashed! Fusion Summon! Descend now! Level 12! Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon!" Out of the Fusion Portal came forth a slightly more armor-scaled version of Seto Kaiba's original Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. (Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon, Level 12 LIGHT Dragon-type Fusion monster, ATK/DEF: 4500/3800. Kisara's hand: 2 cards. Kisara's LP: 3800. Fire's hand: 1 card. Fire's LP: 2800.) Upon its arrival and roaring in Fire's direction, the technology in regards to the duel, minus their duel disks, began to malfunction.

"Gah!" Mokuba cried out as the controls began to overload from the energy spike coming off Kisara's Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. "Seto was gonna test Obelisk the Tormentor later against our computer duelist when he gets back, but I see no need for that now! Kisara, Fire! Stop the duel!"

"What?! When it's getting this good!?" Fire gaped.

"If it continues, the massive energy spike could not only destroy the control room where I'm at, but also the technology that came out of your duel disks to generate those holograms!" Mokuba warned. "For safety, please stop!" Before Fire could speak, Karen quickly took over.

"Alright we got it!" She called. Kisara glanced up at the control room, then at the field, the holograms of the present cards began to flicker.

"I was gonna use my Alternative Ultimate Dragon's effect, because due to the new rules, Fusion monsters cannot attack the turn they're Summoned." Kisara spoke as she deactivated her duel disk; thus the holograms of her cards vanished. "Had I been able to do that, 3 of your cards would have been destroyed since Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon was used as Fusion Material for Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon."

What?! Fire gaped, while Karen looked shocked.

"An effect and a powerful one." Karen gaped.

"Indeed." Kisara smiled. "And it wouldn't have been allowed to attack the turn that effect is used. But like I said, it wouldn't have mattered because of the no attacking for Fusion monsters on the turn they're Summoned."

"Yeah." Karen nodded.

Yup she is super strong. And Seto is gonna want her Deck. Fire muttered.

Let's not go there yet. Karen thought back with a sigh. Mokuba got out of the control room and ran into the duel room.

"Okay, before we go check on Seto to see if he announced the tournament yet, what exactly happened?" Mokuba questioned.

"Well Kisara had Summoned her Blue-Eyes Ancient Dragons before she fused them with her Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon in her hand to Summon Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon. And then you said we had to stop." Karen explained. "Mokuba were the dragons the reason the machines went haywire?" Mokuba put a hand to his chin, then nodded.

"Yeah." Mokuba confirmed. "Mostly that Fusion monster Kisara Summoned. It shouldn't happen in a tournament duel though. It was mostly the technology I was working with in the control that was malfunctioning."

"But should we take the chance?" Karen asked worriedly. "I mean what if it might hurt an opponent?"

"Touche'." Mokuba nodded. "Seto should be back in a bit, but I can help fix that prototype duel disk up so it doesn't do that in a tournament duel."

"Might be for the best." Karen nodded in agreement. "We should probably do the same for Seto too cause let's be real. He would so use Obelisk without a second thought. And this is a God Card. If the machines went like this for that Fusion, imagine one of the God Cards."

"Right." Mokuba frowned. "Alternatively, Seto, you and Kisara can just get the ones being sold in one of the shops where the duel disks are being selled."

"I should be fine with mine. None of my cards are that insanely strong like the God Cards or Kisara's Fusion." Karen replied.

"True." Mokuba nodded.

"You just go see if Seto wrapped up on that announcement." Karen said.

"Yeah, I'll do that." Mokuba then ran off and out of the duel room.

Karen sighed out smoothing her dress and removing the ribbon around her neck.

"Well today has been eventful." She remarked.

You mean besides meeting another holder of a Millennium Item and Blue Eyes user, finding out on Yami's past, little of my own, learning of the God Cards, learning about the Rare Hunters, Seto's past life, dueling Kisara, planning a tournament, and by some miracle, managing to do your performance for the children? Fire asked, watching Karen take a seat behind the stage.

"Well yeah." Karen nodded.

You're something else Sweet One. Fire sighed.

"From you, that's a compliment." Karen giggled. Karen then saw Kisara coming to the backstage walking to her. "Hey Kisara."

"Karen your performance was really amazing." Kisara smiled. "So many smiling children."

"I like making them smile." Karen said with a blush.

"That's good." Kisara told her. Karen smiled up at her before looking curious.

"So out of curiosity, how did you meet Ishizu?" She asked.

"Eh?" Kisara blinked.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to pry!" Karen quickly said with an embarrassed flush.

"No no, it's alright." Kisara told her.

"It's just I was a bit curious. Given the...well, circumstances." Karen swallowed.

"Oh. Yeah." Kisar rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. "Well, Ishizu asked me to join her team regarding excavations a couple years ago." She paused, then added. "She said I looked like another woman she saw in some other murals."

"Another mural?" Karen asked, surprised.

"Yes." Kisara nodded as she pulled her phone out and went to her photos. "Here. There's photos of it." Kisara hands her phone to Karen. "Have a look." Karen took the phone, looking at the pictures.

"Looks like a girl with Blue Eyes White Dragon." Karen remarked, stunned.

"According to Ishizu, the girl is me in the past." Kisara told her.

"So a past life like Seto?" Karen asked, handing her back her phone.

"Yes." Kisara confirmed, pocketing her phone.

"Did she show you any visions of it?" Karen asked.

"Actually, yes." Kisara spoke. "At first I didn't want to believe it, but my mind was changed after realizing I act just like that girl in those visions Ishizu showed me." Kisara looked down at her hand and curled it into a fist slowly. "Which means I have a role to play in this era. As for that role, I believe part of it has to do with these Rare Hunters and the Battle City Tournament."

"Yeah. This tournament is definitely key to a lot of things. For me, Yugi, our partners, you, and even Seto." Karen sighed. "This is going to be more than a battleground for Duelists, but almost a warzone."

"Yeah, it is." Karen looked at the Millennium Bracelet with a small chuckle.

"You know when I first wore this 2 years ago, I never thought I'd be getting myself into things like this." She admitted.

"Why's that?" Kisara asked.

"Well considering I was 13 and didn't think there would be a spirit inside." Karen chuckled.

"Touche'." Kisara hummed.

"But I don't regret it. I met Fire and made new friends thanks to her." Karen smiled, looking at Fire, who smiled. "I'm glad I did wear it in the end."
