Later that evening, after everyone went to bed, Keith and his sisters snuck out of their bedroom and out of the palace. The girls were excited to see the club but they were also afraid that they would get caught. However, as soon as they got into the kelp forest, Keith promised that they wouldn't get caught this far from the palace.
As soon as they entered the club, their fears melted away as they heard the music the band was playing, they saw the sea creatures dancing and enjoying themselves.
Keith recognized the band and sent a wave to the 4 who waved back at him with smiles. The 4 were shifters like Hunk and Pidge were.
Nadia could turn into an indigo octopus. She had tan skin, black hair tied into a ponytail, and green eyes. Her tail was blue with light blue fins and she wore a silver top. Her instrument was the piano.
James could turn into a green manta ray. He had pale skin, short brown hair, and grey eyes. His tail was green with dark green fins and he wore a light green necklace around his neck. When Keith asked him about it, he said it was his father's before he died. His instrument was the bass.
Ina could turn into an orange fish. She had pale skin, blonde hair cut in a pixie cut, and blue eyes. Her tail was orange with dark orange fins and she wore an orange one-shouldered top. Around her neck, she wore a necklace of black pearls. Her instrument was a saxophone.
Ryan could turn into a brown turtle. He had dark skin, green eyes, and dark brown hair. His tail was dark brown with lighter brown fins and he wore green seaweed wrapped around his chest and over one of his shoulders. His instrument was the drums.
"Oh my god," Acxa said with wide eyes.
"You weren't kidding Keith," Hira said as she glanced around with a smile.
"I can't believe we're actually here," Shay said with a smile turning to Keith.
"You were right about the music Keith," Ezor said turning to her brother with a smile. "It does feel magical."
"I told you so," Keith said as his sister's gathered him into a group hug. All except Allura and Narti who seemed nervous to be there. Narti had been excited when the idea was brought up but now that she was here, it was as if an earthquake was happening inside of her.
"And we're all here together," Shay said with a smile. "Just like how Mom would have wanted it.
"Alright, enough of the reminiscing," Hira said with a smile as she pulled away from the group. "We came here to have fun, so let's go!"
Keith found himself being pulled by his sisters into the crowd where he met up with Hunk and Pidge and introduced them to his sisters. Of course, his sisters were more than happy to meet his friends, they were happy Keith finally had people close to him other than his family.
"Okay, this is a little scary," Narti said rubbing her arm as she glanced around nervously.
"Oh thank god," Allura said with a shaky sigh. "I thought I was the only one."
"Should we just go for it?" Narti asked turning Allura who nodded softly.
"Ladies and gentlemen! The Voltron club is proud to present your entertainment for tonight!" Sven called out with a smile.
"Let's just go for it," Allura said as the sisters swam towards the stage.
"Our very own tornado, Slav!"
All 6 girls turned to the stage with wide eyes.
"SLAV!?" they exclaimed with wide eyes. Keith nodded with a smile remembering how surprised he was that Slav ran the club, let alone that he sang at it.
"Chick-a-chicka, chick-a-chicka, hey!
All right, everyone!"
However, the girls were broken out of their thoughts and decided to get back at the crab. Slav's eyes widened when he heard the princesses calling out his name and cheering.
"Well, too late to stop them now," Slav muttered with a sigh and got back to performing.
"Ezor?" Ezor turned to see Zethrid behind her.
"Zethrid!? What are you doing here?" Ezor asked swimming up to the mermaid. "Did you follow me?"
"I uh, might have," Zethrid said, her cheek flushing.
"That's sweet," Ezor said with a smile. "I could use a friend."
Zethrid smiled and the pair went off into the crowd to enjoy the night.
"Wow, a saxophone," Hira said with wide eyes of excitement as she caught sight of Ina's instrument. In her excitement, she swam up behind the stage and watched Ina play the instrument. Of course, she startled Ina but she just kept on playing as Hira kept watching.
Acxa had sat herself on one of the couches in the club and was dancing to herself in her spot.
"Would you like to dance Miss?" a lobster asked swimming up to her with a smile as he extended his claw.
"Oh, no thank you," Acxa said with a shake of her head. As the crab swam away, Acxa went back to bopping along in her seat.
Hira was watching Ina play her instrument and was mimicking her movements with a smile.
Keith, Hunk, and Pidge were sitting on the ground watching some starfish play a game of limbo. Cheering when the trio made it under the bar.
"Would you like to dance?" a dolphin asked swimming up behind Acxa.
"No thanks," Acxa said with a shake of her head once more. The dolphin swam away and Acxa let out a sigh of relief.
Everyone was having a great time as they listened to the music play. Allura had gotten past her anxiety and let her walls down as she danced with a group of female fish. Shay had bumped into Hunk and the pair started dancing together, leaving Pidge with Keith.
That is, until…
"Would you like to dance?" a fish asked as he swam up to Acxa.
"No! Cause I can't dance!" Acxa exclaimed making the fish. "People always talk about how mermaids have grace and beauty but I have no grace!"
"Okay, time to step in," Narti said as Acxa's cries had caught the attention of her, Ezor, and Zethrid.
"I just look like a piece of kelp who doesn't know what they heck they're doing in life."
"Sorry about her," Ezor said to the fish. "But I think she wants to dance with you," she said pointing to a female fish standing alone. The fish nodded with a smile and swam off.
"Seriously you guys, I can't-" Acxa said as her sisters dragged her back to Zethrid and the girls started dancing again.
"Come on Acxa!" Ezor said with a smile.
"Just try it," Narti said. Acxa sighed and started to follow her sister's lead. However, she was right, she couldn't dance.
"That's it!" Ezor exclaimed with a smile.
"Yeah, she really can't dance," Narti said with a grimace.
At some point, Ina handed her instrument over to Hira and showed her how to properly hold it. Both Ina and Slav were surprised when the Princess played the instrument perfectly.
"Way to go Hira!" Slav exclaimed with a smile.
"You were right Keith," Allura said as she swam up beside Keith and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Mom would have loved this place, I mean the music and the dancing."
"It really does feel like Mom was still here," Shay said with a smile.
"Which makes this time even more special," Ezor said with a smile.
"So can we come back tomorrow night?" Hira asked.
"Of course we can," Keith responded with a smile. "As long as this stays hidden between us."
"We can keep a secret," Acxa said with a nod.
"Now let's enjoy this night before it's over!" Narti exclaimed with a smile as a new song started and the group started dancing again.
The next night, they were back at the club.
However, what they didn't count on was Lotor was suspicious of them and seen them sneaking out of the palace when he was doing his rounds. He ended up following them through the kelp forest and into the cave.
Lotor ended up finding the entrance Keith had fallen into the first time and with wide eyes, he saw the club, everyone was dancing and there was music playing.
What shocked him even more was that he saw the 6 Princesses and Keith dancing. However, his eyes widened more when he saw Slav was also at the club.
"That's it," Lotor said with a smile. "The one mistake that will ruin Slav once and for all."
Lotor then swam back out the entrance he entered from and sped back to the castle. He had something to report to the King.
By the time the group got back to their bedroom, they were utterly exhausted. Was it worth it though? Well, they would answer yes.
"Good night Keith," Narti said as she lay her head down on Keith's tail, covering herself with her blanket as she yawned. The 7 royals were currently sitting on the floor under their window.
"Good night Narti," Keith said with a smile
"Zap-it-y-do-dah, zow!" Hira sang as she collapsed on the other side of Keith, her pillow propped against him as Acxa covered her with a blanket.
"Good night Hira," Keith said with a soft chuckle before turning to Acxa.
"Sweet dreams Keith," Acxa said with a smile before she turned to Ezor.
"Good night Acxa," Keith replied as he wrapped his blanket around his shoulders.
"What, sad you didn't get to kiss Zethrid?" Acxa teased as she noticed Ezor's pout.
"Oh shut it," Ezor said with a huff.
"Good night Shay," Keith called out as Shay got cozy beside Ezor.
"Good night Keith," she called back with a tired smile.
Now, you may be wondering where Allura is. Well, she is lying against the wall with her pillow and her blanket. And she is out cold.
"Good night Allura," everyone called out with a smile before they fell asleep. Keith turned his head to stare at the edge of the window where he usually sat. For some reason, he got the feeling someone was sitting there watching.
"Good night Mom," Keith whispered with a soft smile before he fell asleep.
The next morning, Lotor was up earlier than usual as he knew Shiro would already be awake and in the throne room getting ready for the day.
"Your Majesty, a word?" Lotor asked as he stood by the door. Shiro turned from where he was looking over a scroll and nodded, rolling it back up.
"Lotor, you're up earlier than usual, what can I help you with?" Shiro asked as Lotor bowed before him.
"I have something to report Your Majesty."
"About?"
"Slav."
"Slav? Has something happened?"
"Not exactly Your Majesty," Lotor said shaking his head. "But this does have to do with the children."
"I'm listening."
The next night, you guessed it. They were back at the club once more.
The club had gotten livelier since the Princesses showed up after Keith joined. Not that anyone was complaining, they loved their company.
However, this joy and happiness was cut off when thumping was heard at the entrance. The music stopped as everyone turned to the entrance, only to cry out in shock when the guards entered the club.
"Nadia!" Slav called out. Nadia nodded and quickly shifted to her octopus form and squirted ink out, creating a large cloud. Through the chaos, everyone had managed to escape.
All except, Keith, his sisters, Slav, Hunk, Pidge, and the band. The guards surrounded them and everyone turned as Shiro silently entered the club. And judging by the angry look on his face, he was not a happy camper right now. Behind him, Samuel and Lotor also entered the room. Sam sending a not so happy looking expression to his daughter who flinched under his look.
"You call this watching over my son?" Shiro asked with a glare to Slav who flinched.
"Your Majesty I-"
"You have disappointed me Slav," Shiro said with a shake of his head. "I trusted you with this task and you have failed me."
Slav had nothing to say, he just bowed his head and stared at the ground. Nothing could defend his case. Standing beside Sam, Lotor sent a smirk towards Slav. He knew that he had won.
"Orders Your Majesty?" the captain asked turning to the King.
"Lock him away!" Shiro called out.
"What? No!" Keith called out with wide eyes.
"Lock them all away!" Shiro called out. The guards then led Hunk, Pidge, Slav, and the band out of the club and towards the castle where they would be thrown into the dungeon.
"I do apologize for this Sam," Shiro said turning to Sam who watched his daughter be led away by the guards.
"It's not your fault Your Majesty," Sam said shaking his head softly. "I understand, if you'll excuse me." Sam then exited the club and headed back to the castle to tell Matt what happened.
"Lotor," Shiro said turning to Lotor who bowed. Keith turned to Lotor with a glare, now he knew exactly how his father found out. "Effective immediately you are replacing Slav."
"Yes Your Majesty," Lotor said with a smile. 'That's it, one step closer.'
"Allura," Shiro said turning his oldest. "Take everyone home and gather in the throne room."
"Yes Father," Allura said softly with a nod as she started to lead her sisters and Keith out of the club. However, Keith stopped in front of his father, tears in his eyes.
"Dad, you can't do this."
"It's already done," Shiro called out making Keith flinch. "Allura, come and take Keith back home."
"Yes Sir," Allura said with a nod as she swam back to Keith. Hira swam with her and both sisters wrapped arms around Keith and led him back to the palace with the others.
Shiro was the last to leave the club. He stopped outside the club and turned back with a heated glare. Using his trident, Shiro shot a ray of magic at the top of the entrance, causing the rock to explode and block the entrance from letting anyone in ever again.
As soon as they got back to the palace, Keith and his sisters lined up in the throne room as their father sat on the throne.
"Until further notice, you are all confined to the palace."
"Yes Father," Allura said with a nod. As the oldest, she felt the guiltiest about what happened. She was supposed to keep her siblings out of trouble and set an example for them. But instead, let them convince her it was a good idea.
"Might as well just lock us all in jail while you're at it," Keith muttered under his breath. However, his sisters as well as Shiro had heard it.
"Keith," Shiro called out getting his attention. "You are especially confined to the palace until you have understood what you have done wrong."
"And what is it?" Keith asked glaring at his father. "Tell me, what exactly did we do wrong?"
"Keith!" Allura called out turning to Keith behind her. "Just drop it and leave it alone!"
"No!" Keith yelled pushing past Allura.
"Keith!" Allura called out trying to grab his arm but failing.
"We haven't done anything wrong, it's not like we went out drinking or got a tattoo," Keith said with a shake of his head, turning to his father who got off his throne as Keith approached. "All we did was listen to music."
"Which is forbidden in the kingdom!" Shiro yelled glaring back at his son.
"But why?" Keith asked. "Why is music forbidden? Why can't we have music? It's not like it's going to grow fangs and bite us."
"I am not having this argument," Shiro said, his hands shaking. Flashes of memories flashing before him. Memories of a certain someone lost to them. "This conversation is over, Allura-"
"You're stalling," Keith said as Shiro went to swam past him. "Just tell me why? It's a simple question." At this point, his sisters were worried that something might happen and they all anxiously watched the scene unfold. Shay, being the sister who was closest to Keith, was ready to swim in and defend her brother. Even if it meant going against her father.
"I do not have to explain my reasoning to you," Shiro growled as more memories flashed before him.
"But I don't understand," Keith said shaking his head. "We love music, Mom love-"
"I WILL NOT HAVE ANY MUSIC IN THIS KINGDOM!" Shiro yelled turning back to Keith with a heated glare. Keith flinched back in shock. His father had never raised his voice at him before, not even when he was upset with him. His sisters watched on in shock as well, no one had been Shiro blow up at one of his own like that. Keith glanced up at his father with a soft glare as a tear slipped its way down his cheek.
"I may not remember much about Mom," Keith said in a soft voice as he pushed past Shiro who flinched hearing Keith mention his mother. That seemed to snap Shiro out of his anger and instead, guilt filled him. "But I know he wouldn't like what the kingdom has turned into."
Keith then sped off to the bedroom, his sisters and father watching in concern before the girls were dismissed as Shiro left the throne room.
When Keith got back to the bedroom, he collapsed against the vanities and started sobbing. However, as he heard his sisters enter the bedroom he wiped his tears away and let out a soft sigh. He shivered at the somber tone in the bedroom as his sisters got ready for bed.
"Allura?" Keith asked placing a hand on Allura's shoulder as he saw how upset she was. Allura shrugged his hand off and turned to him with a glare.
"You just don't know when to quit do you?" Allura asked. "You never have and you never will." Allura swam off and climbed into her bed, the other girls following.
"This wasn't supposed to happen," Keith said as tears filled his eyes once more. "We were finally happy again, like when-"
"Oh drop it already Keith," Allura said with a glare as everyone lay down in their beds. "No one's happy."
"But I-"
"Guess we have you to thank for that," Allura said which caused Keith to flinch.
"I'm sorry," Keith whispered before exiting the bedroom. He may be confined to the palace but he wasn't confined to the bedroom. He needed to exit and let his sisters fall asleep, the somber tone in the room only upset him more. As much as Shay wanted to follow after him, she was too upset to bother and fell asleep with tears in her eyes.
