Episode 5: High Voltage (23/12/2021)

Gus wakes at 5 a.m. He is doing his morning routine: push-ups, showering…
Then he listens to the vocal message left by Lyle. His face becomes serious, as he hears Lyle being tortured and killed by… Wait, this is Lalo's voice.
Mike arrives at the restaurant. He gets rid of the body and cleans the scene.

Kim and Jimmy don't talk about the lawsuit that Howard won. We feel that the atmosphere is a bit tense when Kim tries to comfort him.
Jimmy mentions the money that he is hiding. He would like to start from a clean state and use it to open a flamboyant office. Kim specifies that they should first find an effective way to launder the money.

Mike meets with Gus who insists on having a look at the body. He is still in shock and angry. He doesn't understand how Lalo made it alive and this ruins all his plans. He thinks that actually Nacho notified Lalo before the killing attempt and that he is a traitor…
What should they do next? Gus thinks deeply. How can he stop this spread of violence? Lalo is unpredictable. But there is something he doesn't quite understand. Why would Lalo blow his cover in such way? He could have come directly after him. Only reassuring thing is that the cartel seems not to be aware.
Gus realises that Lyle's phone was not found with his dead body. Gus now understands that… Lalo wants him to make the first step. Gus calls Lyle's phone, and he is right: Lalo is on the other end of the line. Lalo wants Gus to admit that he is the one who ordered the assassination attempt. Instead, Gus suggests that they meet in person as this is a 'misunderstanding'. But when, how? No one trusts each other. A public place, maybe? What if they meet at Hector's nursing home tonight?

Mike asks Jimmy to locate Lyle's phone through legal means. He doesn't mention the specifics just that Lyle disappeared and his mother is dead worry. However, he wants Kim to talk with the mother… 'She is in the game now'…

Kim meets with Lyle's mother and Gus. Kim feels a strange aura from Gus, like a fake kindness. Gus informs Lyle's mother that he brought a lawyer to help with the disappearance of Lyle. They can ask to locate the phone if they prove that this is a case of foul play missing.
At the police station, Lyle's mother and Kim file the missing person reports requesting an emergency ping of Lyle's cellphone. A bit later, the phone is located somewhere within the radius of a few miles. As soon as he hears the news, Mike drives to the location with Lyle's car. Once they arrive, the police finds a note from Lyle (placed in the car by Mike), saying that he purposefully went missing. The mother looks deeply at Kim, asking her if there is anything they can do. Kim replies no and she feels guilty and betrayed by Gus.

Tonight is the night. Gus and Tyrus show up at Hector's room. Gus is stressful as Lalo might be setting a trap. Lalo and Nacho are waiting for them; Nacho can't look Gus in the eyes. Gus blames Bolsa for recruiting the hitmen to serve his interest. Gus is ready to buy peace by paying him a large sum of money. Lalo refuses.

Back home, Kim complains to Jimmy: she felt manipulated. Probably Lyle was killed and that they may have become complicit of a crime. Jimmy doesn't think Mike lied. Kim: 'Think about it for a minute…'

Mike who is parked outside Hector's nursing home receives a call from Jimmy. He is surprised to hear Kim speaking to him! Kim has a message for Gus: they are not Gus's puppy; next time, she wants to talk directly with the boss and demands a higher compensation for their services. Mike sighs.

Lalo doesn't trust Gus. He asks Nacho to confirm that Lalo is indeed the mastermind. Nacho is shaking and takes Lalo's side. Worse, Lalo mentions the death of Gus's friend at the hands of Hector as a provocation.
This is the last straw. As he leaves, Gus decides to drop a bomb: Nacho poisoned Hector and because of him, his uncle is in a vegetative state.
Silence in the room. Nacho is terrified; a million thoughts raced through his mind. Lalo doesn't show any emotion in front of Gus as not to lose face. He then looks at Nacho. Oh, shit…

TL; DR: Mike asks Jimmy and Kim to locate through legal means Lyle's phone that Lalo kept with him. Gus and Lalo agree to meet at Hector's nursing home but discussion is inconclusive; Lalo learns from Gus that Nacho poisoned his uncle.
