Author's Note Here goes describing how to rule a country may be a little out of my depth but there is only one way to be sure about that.

Gigantic Optimism Chapter XV to Rule Well
Sidon has finished checking Dorado's report while the young champion lacks a strong enough connection with Vah Ruta to pilot it, the weapon would let him diagnose it for this reason Dorado is now making the weekly reports to the other champions. Sidon reviews every one of his junior's reports then supplies any missing pertinent information and gives a mini report on Dorado's budding connection to Ruta. One perk of this situation is Sidon retains his ability to send weekly letters to the subject of his affection, another is that he could do it from the sanctuary of his own room.
Sidon is presently composing his latest note None of these letters are full length dossiers, Karlovaa and Sidon's rigorous schedules disallow long notes each had their respective trainers to thank. Neither minds the brevity glad for the simple act of writing. Reading a missive from his pen pal Sidon learns his advice had worked. The crowd from the champions cup judging by his favorite racer's description they were desperate to see Karlovaa regain her title. Trying to say I told you so without sounding condescending is proving difficult for Sidon. Settling for "not to be condescending." He passes on the packet to be mailed ending his brief respite, just in time for Baz to knock on the door. Hastily grabbing his appointment book Sidon hastens on his way to his afternoon meeting with the Rito ambassador, Baz grabbing the royal headdress chases after its owner waving the object frantically. "Will he ever remember it." Sighs the sentry.
The royal headdress is too small the circlet is just loose enough to avoid damaging the skin, "It is not that tight really," There is no sense in fixing it when the new crown is made for the coronation. It even helps my posture I can manage" Talking himself into the uncomfortable head gear is a daily task for the prince, like any daily duty Sidon is improving. This is even true of the diplomatic talks Sidon's winning personality traits of optimism, and understanding, become more and more effective as time goes on and the prince feels at ease with his many guests. Part of this is by design for now Dorephan is coordinating the Prince's meetings along strict guidelines. Sidon can meet with other new diplomats, or regions with incredibly strong diplomatic relations with his kingdom, no other dignitaries qualify. The King is handling the wilier officials himself, soon Sidon will graduate to the seasoned diplomats if he can handle the Rito's request to everyone's satisfaction that is. Tulin the Rito ambassador is both figuratively green and from a friendly province the perfect candidate for the first officer Sidon is entrusted with.
Tulin is the Rito representative in fact the first Rito in this role, historically the remote mountain village made of small houses required no such position. Several factors had led to the need for the role, Teba the Successor of the Rito tribe had created a small militia which had led to the need to coordinate patrols with other regions. After Gannon's second defeat the population of Ritovillage had seen dramatic increase due to returning wanders and the subsequent children of those former pilgrims. The two major factors occurred fifteen years ago those; were the ascension of Tulin's mother to the elder-ship of the village, and the request of the current champion Vestus son of Harth to found a second Rito settlement closer to the flying range. Add to this an occasional visit to Tarrey town and the need for a Rito official becomes apparent.
This settlement is the cause of the current meeting, the town has finally become stable and large enough for a founding ceremony. Seeking a suitable centerpiece for the festivities had fallen to the ambassador. Deciding on a statue was easy getting the work commissioned had been hard. Due to the rock walls of the hill it was built atop of a stone monument that matches the surrounding rock is desired no stone masons live among the Rito their houses being wooden abodes requiring inter Hyrule cooperation.
Tulin has been told he resembles his father Teba before he began training at the flight range, Tulin has no method to ascertain if this is true or not he cannot remember those days. All who told the Rito so had expected the young Rito to put on muscle and be his father in miniature it never occurred despite frequent trips with his father. Sidon noticed the resemblance, to his successor companion from the old days "He is Teba but, soft and angular not broad and thick like his progenitor. The main difference is his height and light blue eyes I imagine he takes after his mother that explains why Vestus is the Champion he is built like a Goron with wings." The absurdist image of a Goron flapping around eratically brings a glow to Sidon's eyes.
"Greetings Ambassador Tulin, how can we be of help to one another today?" Not to be deterred the Rito discreetly rejects the question and substitutes his own. "Now Sidon, I am not prepared to talk business yet, you always hurry, What is going on in the domain? After all a tailwind does make you go faster but it is a crime not to enjoy the flight because of one." Sidon begins to discuss the current events in his future kingdom, focusing more on his feelings then the details as the Rito is up to date on present happenings. The pleasantries dutifully observed to the red zora's chagrin Tulin begins business
"That is better now about the statue for Dragon Rest Town, can your masons take up residence and begin work in exchange for materials? it is to be a work of Master Revali and my father side by side shooting." Clearing his throat Sidon denies this bid as it is not keeping with their previous agreement, drawing to his full height Sidon repeats their initial deal. "For this statue you provide materials and a detachment of the militia to train our guards in archery, your renown archers for our storied stone workers." When twenty minutes of deliberation had come and gone Sidon had offered to dump any leftover materials over the nearby tar pits hoping the debris would finish the receding tar this cinches the deal. It would be completed in seven months. Tulin is eager to free the remaining dragon bones submerged in tar for which the town built on Passenger's hill is named.
The table in the throne room is set for three, Dorado is nowhere to be seen he is becoming harder and harder to find after his morning Ruta sessions end. Both King Doraphan and Prince Sidon, ignore his absence from the evening meal Dorado is young and his job could be stressful some time to relax would do him good. "Congratulations son Tulin informs me that your agreement was most satisfactory you can now deal with the other officials. Just be careful with the minor Hyrule castle officials they can keep secrets in the most clandestine manner." A large gulping sound precedes Sidon's statement consuming the last of his armored pogy, reaching for another to sate his recently ravenous appetite Sidon reacts to his father's praise. "I will do my best father the Domain will flourish!"
Rolling the stiffness out of his neck from sitting most of the day, Sidon continues in a less positive vein. "How do you deal with them changing the agreement?" Firing back rapidly, without hesitation the King inquires"why do you think he tried to alter the deal?"Mulling over his interaction with the Rito the zora diplomat gives his answer after picking a scale out of his teeth. "The archers are a defense resource and renting out their best instructors will weaken their force. Still a knight never goes back on his word." The smallest hint of anger flashes in Sidon's eyes quick as lightning it vanishes. Like distant thunder Doraphan's low rumbling voice cuts through the air "To rule well, to lead well you must guard the best interests of your people, when you do trust follows and their lives improve, however we are a province of Hyrule and as such sometimes their needs supersede our own Tulin does not comprehend that yet." Mipha had understood that fact all champions did well not all current champions know amends his thinking next time he sees Dorado he will have to explain it.
That young brown zora looking dashing in his champion's tunic worn as a sash over his tarpaulin cloak and small topaz encrusted armlets is presently trying to catch Reypha's attention the green zora is at the restaurant's counter pretending to listen to her father's monologue about the diner's many colorful customers who were the same batch of colorful clientele that he mentions every three days or so. Spotting her favorite champion, Reypha excuses herself and joins Dorado at his table one of fifteen set in the quaint establishment. "I just finished how was your shift today." Twiddling her fingers absently an unconscious movement that endears herself to Dorado she shrugs. "It was fine I thought I would see you I was guarding Vah Ruta this afternoon." She says in her clear timbre voice like the wind whistling through canvas. "Oh I must have just missed you I was there this morning." Neglecting to mention his recent failed attempt at piloting Vah Ruta seems prudent to the young male zora so he awaits Reypha's reaction. "It is nice there but, there is something amiss with that machine." In very few words Dorado asks his companion to expound on that impression. Elaborating Reypha explains thusly, "I mean Sidon always seems nervous, around Ruta" Silently confirming her thoughts with his own memories Dorado nods in agreement. His gesture unheeded Reypha continues "spooked really, he jumps at anything there, a lot of zora thought it was… no its silly." This is a part of his friend that is new to Dorado back in Tarrey Town she would act rashly and speak bluntly. She had become much better at filtering her thoughts; rather than coming out pure and unadulterated, they were clouded with the views of others. "What did they think Reypha? It cannot be that more ludicrous than a practically sentient mechanical elephant already is" It's supposed to be haunted by Sidon's sister." Blurts out Reypha "His sister I bet she had to work at it that is the answer!" Cries Dorado.
Raising a finger quizzically the beautiful green zora shows her bewilderment whereupon Dorado finally confesses his issues. "You see Reypha, Sidon never had to learn to control Ruta he just had a connection with her, he assumed that I would have the same experience but there is some wall between the machine and me. That was probably not the reaction you were expecting uh Sidon already told me about that Mipha has moved he seemed sure. I just have been struggling with piloting Ruta I never thought about Mipha." Leaning forward in interest Reypha offers some advice "Nothing against Sidon but he might not be the best one to ask he only recently stopped seeing her statue he used to go there every night. Maybe the King would know." "That would be better I can still catch them bye Reypha." A short embrace later Reypha covertly stares at Dorado's retreating figure admiring the strength and grace of his carriage. Dorado does not notice he is thinking of the hug rather than about his meeting with a king. And so Dorado is given restricted access to Mipha's diary by a befuddled Dorephan as all of Mipha's training took place in Ruta where she was unaccompanied and unobserved. "I will have copies made of sections dealing with Ruta no other sections would be useful to you it will be sometime before you receive access to the whole." Dorado feels a massive weight on his shoulder before realizing it is Dorephan's fin "You are forbidden to tell Sidon about this luckily he was exhausted and retired is still protective of his big sister it is best to spare his feelings." Taking this to heart Dorado is hopeful he can do this job and glad that the royal family trusted him with such responsibility.
Author's Note two I had to completely rewrite this section I was initially going to increase the Sheikah population but, I wanted to retain the impact of the Sheikah genocide, and I could not write an interesting Sheikah ambassador, I tried. I am glad I did rewrite it though I really like the addition of Dragon Rest village I have some ideas that separate it from either of the other Rito settlements we will eventually go there. Next week we have the Gerudo Rally race and the subsequent fall out of events at that race.
