Chapter XXX A Sweet Honeymoon

Sidon is in the middle of the oasis at Kara Kara bazar a dash of red in the middle of a translucent lake, like a bright seal on a red envelope the Zora stands out. When Karlovaa had informed him that this was the only body of water he would see for the foreseeable future Sidon had felt the need to soak for a while. He had heard the desert was dry and barren but, the reality of no water was peculuiar to the aquatic man, "It will only get odder from here this is the domestic area we are headed for the wilderness." Karlovaa is dealing with similar feelings while she is glad to be back the everything was more intense than she remembered the sun was oppressive she certainly needed to gather supplies. Passing by the black stallion or the newly christened Vin derived from Vincent which Karlovaa considered a mouthful. Sidon had laughed her name was much more unwieldly than Vincent. Hailing her husband the desert native makes a proposition "I need to go into the city, to get a few things. We will not get very far without sandseals which are only loaned out there. You can relax here when I return we can make our way to the great fairy fountain." Nonchalantly performing a backstroke Sidon makes an amendment to her plan, "I do want to at least see the outside of the city, if you can give me an idea when you will finish I can join you there. Briefly egressing from the oasis she wanders closer to a nearby tree drawing an 'x' in the sand she returns. "When the shadow of that tree reaches that spot follow the main road to the city." They share a brief goodbye kiss before she sets out alone.

Karlovaa had made it through the gate without any issues glad she had worn a hood to conceal her crown a suggestion Sidon had made when they had crossed the bridge into Gerudo territory. Without deliberation Karlovaa treads directly to the jeweler's shop. The sandseals would be her last stop and she could buy provisions while the artisans craft her order. "Savaaq' sister, I have a dazzling amber necklace that would compliment that ring." Cries the saleswoman in her best market place haggling voice. I had something else in mind, but it does have to do with the ring. "I see for your fiancé he wants a hylian ring it happens all the time, no I am off the mark your face says it all. Do not tell me let me guess ...not your affianced but your spouse you want the Gerudo wedding gift!" Clapping her hands in excitement she charges ahead feeling accomplished at her guess as if she had got the answer in one. "I rarely get to make these, oh wait the owner always makes me ask, he did meet the qualifier right? "Yes though if he had not I could just go to tarrey town." Hiding her surprise, the clerk asks for the future recipient's measurements. A detail Karlovaa knows from her and Sidon's intensive costuming sessions for their wedding. Other jewelers may have been surprised by the extensiveness of the figures but, truthfully the shop so rarely worked with men that she simply attributed the disparity to that fact. Karlovaa pays for and collects her package upon its completion satisfied with the look of the piece. Her thoughts turn to her father he had never had one made for him. "Did you want it wrapped?" Asks the clerk eager to fill the prolonged silence. In answer the goods are temporarily returned to her care. "Now to get the seals."

Sidon was early technically, Sidon and Vin were early, "She forgot about you buddy, we will have to ask her maybe someone in town can put you up." Staring at the beautiful stone city the prince transitions to a tourist mindset and begins to wander around the city, his steed tailing him dutifully. Ten minuets after his first pass he recognizes a friend moving towards him the newcomer is exiting Gerudo City. Champion Bacta waves as she closes the distance to her old friend. "I did not think you were coming near the city but when the gaurds reported a big red zora I had to come visit. I assumed you would be how should I say? Secluded very secluded." "Secluded is a good word for it we just miscalculated how many supplies we would go through so Karlovaa is stocking up, and retrieving mounts." "That makes sense leave this behemoth here and I can board him for you after some Gerudo City hospitality he will not want to leave, I assure you." The friends laugh over this playful boasting and the conversation becomes a typical work check up that often happens between former coworkers. Looking at the city again Sidon remembers something "Bacta did you ever hear whether a man died waiting outside the city? "Someone sang Outside Gerudo city for you when the bard was here we taught him that song, a great drinking ditty it was originally composed to taunt a Hylian general during his siege attempt that is why it ends with him dying he actually starved his army thinking he could wait us out, having never been inside he did not know about our special water source. Once it made its way to Kara Kara Bazar those lovesick fools adopted it as an anthem." "You have just ruined the song for me. Shrugging the champion departs taking vin with her, royal duties could not wait all day.

Karlovaa appears soon after precisely when the shadow reached her mark in the sand not that Sidon knew that. Equipped with two rented sandseals and two ruck sacks the honeymooner was prepared for their trip to the Great Fairy fountain. Sidon manages his beast well the shield technique was similar enough to shield surfing and he just had to follow Karlovaa relatively closely. For her part she plods along at the perfect speed for an untrained driver to follow.

Bearing in mind her companion's lack of riding ability Karlovaa had set their first destination accordingly in practically no time the couple were at the rally course, specifically staring at the leaderboard. "I had no idea there were so many skilled racers this board has been active a couple of Zora life spans." " I am proud to be part of such long tradition did you notice the one voe on the board?" "Indubitably, I am trying to place the name before his the name sound familiar. The ranking is as follows, except the times are listed opposite the racer and or their animal.

1. Karlovaa (The Molduga) and Dorn,

2. Patricia,

3. Link driving one of Felly's sandseals,

4. Tuli,

Inspecting the board casually Karlovaa notices they had added her nickname without consulting her "Surely this Patricia is a legend in the sport her record stood for a long time." "Well she would be if that was her name that is the animal's name." A sly look encompasses Sidon's face, "I kept trying to place the face in my head that was the difficulty, I know whose record that is, it is someone we both know." "Of course it was Baz!." Shouts the vai with mock severity. Sharing a laugh Sidon and Karlovaa's hands meet. "It was Riju when she was little she talked more about that sandseal than anything else except ruling her tribe."Karlovaa is rendered a little sheepish putting together that the Patricia Standard breed was named after Riju's personal seel is obvious in retrospect. She had never expected Sidon to solve that conundrum he had never followed racing. Additionally it was odd to think that her husband had known Riju for longer than she had been alive the mere idea of a young Riju was hard to picture. Sidon converesly remembers that driven young girl quite well.

Karlovaa did not have quite the same reaction to this massive skeleton as the one at dragon rest she was more curious, the map they had received from Lorrue only shows the Great fairy Foutain's location directly where the skeleton was. "We do not have to go down if you would rather forgo it I understand." Steeling herself Karlovaa silently talks herself into it, the fairies were said to be beautiful she had never seen one. Fighting her unease of death with the chance to experience a wholly new creature to her the Gerudo follows her partner under the skeleton.

Sidon begins to feel uneasy as they enter where the beast's tail would be surveying his surroundings, he taps the ground gently with his tail signaling Karlovaa to stop on either side of the travelers were archer stands, thankfully they are empty. Cautiously the pair advance until they begin to see tufts of grass untouched by sand. Karlovaa gasps pointing emphatically at a little pink ball with opaque wings and the ball was a glistening orb of light that pulsed steadily. They lay down by the fountain drinking in the beautiful contrast of a small plot of life in the middle of so much death. "I fear we need to go soon my prince, my favorite spot in the desert is waiting for us. I have wanted to show it too you more than anything else here." "Before we go it would be improper not to pay our respects, fishing out his wallet Sidon throws a red rupee into the center of the fountain which begins to froth and swirl. When the large great Fairy appears Karlovaa and Sidon are dumbfounded they had expected a divine vengeance not a beautiful giant flower, then it opens revealing the Great Fairy

"Weary traveler, I accept your offering with my presence if you seek a blessing from the great Fairy more alms will be required." This blatantly rehearsed speech is addressed exclusively to Sidon to Karlovaa's chagrin. "I wonder how this will play out, Sidon can handle her I am sure." The Great Fairy continues to focus on Sidon her posture a slight seductive lean. "Oh wise and fair Great Fairy how would you bless this humble traveler?" "A flattering tongue and rugged good looks teehee teehee. My specialty is enchanting armor for better protection and other benefits." The flustered king looks toward his wife upon meeting her gaze he wisely gets very quiet. "I do have a special piece of armor, for my husband, if he will get it out of my bag I bequi ahem beseech you to bless it." Sidon has mouthed beseech preventing Karlovaa from flubbing her request, he goes to the other sandseel and grabs the brown parcel. When he returns the women have switched over to Gerudo in a flash Karlovaa has the package, Sidon clutches empty air.

The exchange in Gerudo goes on for a while Sidon could hardly keep up with the emotions as the language he does not understand flows freely here is that conversation, from its beginning. "My husband has no clue what the armor is or its significance I would like to tell him in private can you bless it with it wrapped." You insolent vai you unbeliever, I could enchant that desert armor If you were standing in Kokolint Island. Humph," she breaks crossing her arms haughtily. "I still do not believe you what will it do after you perform your sleight of hand, tricks." "It will be more durable, its cooling properties will be enhanced and it will uh smell like fresh flowers." "Flowers?!" ejaculates Karlovaa "You heard me." Sputters the great fairy. "I would be more impressed if it was waterproof. Afterall It is our honeymoon and we desired to see the most beautiful spot, I think we should have gone to one of the other fairy fountains. This is the masterstroke livid the not so benevolent being agrees to her terms. "My sisters did not even slay a dragon to decorate their fountains, I would like to see one of them enchant it to drink till it fell into exhaustion driven coma. I will enjoy shutting you up even more than that, it shall all be as you say but, your blessing will require a special price you are never to come back here." "Agreed." -

A loud bang erupts from the fountain a yellow mist remninscent of pollen appears settling on Karlovaa's burden instilling it with power. The area is completely obsured there Is no visibility for either traveler. Coughing wracks the honeymooners when the pollen clears the Fairy is gone. "What did you do?! "It was a little Gerudo diplomacy ask Riju about it she can explain it to you."

From there the two wend in a south westerly direction without encountering a single monster. "Karlovaa I thought you said the desert was infested with monsters even with my knowledge from Bacta's old reports tells me there are usually more monsters than this." "Perhaps the army has cleared them out, we have both lost touch with the area. Even with the desert's eary quiet yelling is the only way to hold a conversation between sandseals. Stowing their thoughts both add to the silence of the evening. -

A lone bluff is the destination it rises like Vah Medo over the Rito village. Sidon can discern greenery through the desert haze he wonders how that is possible, then the base of the bluff appears. Two streams meet at the bottom of the bluff nestled between the streams is a mall cabin welcome to the honeymoon suite, I give you the southern oasis. We have to ourselves all day tomorrow I want to give you something before we turn in. Sidon is presented with the well worn package, lately blessed by the Great Fairy unwrapping it he sees a set of armor with gold plates and one arm. Looking further down he sees a pair of trousers made from the same material the traditional Gerudo ware is. "It is a tradition that any Gerudo wife who can attest firsthand to her husband's bravery in the field of battle that she may present him with the highest honor a voe can receive the desert voe armor." "By all means help me get it on." The armor was comfortable Sidon preferred to appear bare chested and was relieved that the desert voe armor allowed for the range of movement he preferred it also cooled him off. More importantly it was a special marriage gift from his wife." I wish I could have made it myself whispers Karlovaa as she fights back tears, I know zora brides do that but, this is how my people express love." "Every time I wear it I will think of two wonderful days our fight with the Octorocks and this moment in your favorite place, receiving this gift." Spent the soulmates move into the cabin Sidon removes the armor placing it in the lone wardrobe in the cabin.
