Gigantic Optimism XXI The Momentous Night

Bleary eyed Lorrue wipes rubs her eyes vigorously clearing the various minute specks and grime lodged within, it does not fix the issue. Spending an inordinate amount of time in this spot is straining her vision. Torch light dancing on the manifesting structure, has slowly worn away at her vision for almost a year now the object has been wildly fluctuating first, transluscent then, solid, next the markings constantly changed but, for the past few days the scabbard has solidified almost entirely. Lorrue, had even seen it shudder on occasion the time had come and yet she still sits here. " I just need to know why it's here, I cannot miss it, I hope he understands." Lorrue steps outside the cave for fresh air.

Vestus is in the air diving through it like a stone through water, there was just enough of an open clearing in the Zonai enclosure. This was his last stop on the list, through nightly excursions after his mayoral duties, Vestus has worked through Uvo's list. Vestus preens a feather on his shoulder or tries to he cannot reach it. "From what Uvo said this was the Zonai moon observatory, why was it a canidate again, it had been high on the list too." Collecting his thoughts he preens again. Uvo had sung a song about it but Lorrue had explained it better she always did. With the obvious history surrounding each location she had been a big help, "The moon became red constantly during the wild era no one knows how gannon caused it just that he did, seems an ancient moon altar could be connected to that." This was the only one she wanted to come to that was why it was the last to be visited, but high on the list. Clouds cover the moon Vestus rises to venture deeper. After just long enough for his feathers to stiffen again he comes into a room an open ceiling covered in tree limbs. flying up Vestus perches on the branch it dips with his weight Vestus looks below to ascertain, whether the branch will hold. On the stone cobbled, moss covered floor he sees a small circle painted red on the floor. "No moss covers that spot how is that possible?" he looks towards the moon a small red spot blossoms on its surface. Meanwhile...

Beneath Hyrule, Six eyes unblinking peer through the darkness at a second floating object a single hilt it continues to shrink, the negative space filled with shadow. "You two get up there, remember which one you have. " Aye, you leave it to me that message will be immaculate." Sighing two eyes blink out a small burrowing noise covering the rest of the speech. Simultaneously something else is being brought into the world, its arrival perceived much less ominously.

The gerudo midwife brings the newborn away from its mother following the ancient custom of her people, established by a clan of mystics devoted to the king. She must check the child's gender it was a practical duty for the tribe too often the new king would be spirited away leaving room for any imposter with red hair to claim the throne. Unwrapping the bundle she does a double take wiping her eyes in disbelief she re-wraps the royal scion of the Gerudo "Why did it have to be this baby?" She should have known the birth had been easy that was one of the signs there were never complications when the king was born. She looks down at the child from beside the exit door, taking in his features after all she had never delivered a male baby in her five years on the job. She returns to the couple standing by the bed a pristine place thanks to a large work force. "It's a boy your Highness" Kneeling out of respect for the child she returns him to the stunned couple. Sidon is remembering that day seven months ago when he received the news of the child's impending arrival. It had begun by meeting with Doreaphan.

(Sidon's Flash back)

Dorephan looks up at the new zora throne in the two months since King Sidon had returned from his honeymoon, he had commissioned a custom throne for himself. This new throne was Dorephan's old throne in miniature only this size differential separated the two royal chairs. Bowing low Dorephan waits for his liege to acknowledge him. "Come here father this is exactly why I wanted to see you, you always act the royal. Karlovaa needs some guidance in our customs and what is proper for a Queen, I would like you to tutor her in these matters." "All you had to do was ask my son, I would be delighted to help her adjust, but my lessons will be simple our people will not expect her to be as proper as Mizu drove my children to be. She could have asked me herself you know." "She wanted to Karlovaa keeps forgetting little matters, she seems preoccupied I hoped this would ease her mind a tad." " Of course no need to worry we can give her the good news together." Reassured Sidon somehow supports his father's weight while they look for the queen.

When they finally find Karlovaa she is visiting the shrine of Hylia, a zora priest is praying at the statue, unbeknownst to the new arrivals he is praying on Karlovaa's behalf. Sidon has not been to this spot since he retrieved Link's note the peaceful cavern is still. Dorephan waits outside he cannot fit into the small, enclosed space. Sidon sneaks up behind Karlovaa an easy task for she is studying her reflection in the water. The priest finishes his rite prompting Karlovaa to turn and see Sidon. In this brief period of time the priest leaves anxious to offer his assistance to the patriarch assuming the large and devout zora is awaiting him. "You asked him for me, thank you I needed to tell you both something and I came her to clear my head." Sidon kisses her hand softly a sign of his understanding. "One of the reasons I wanted to take these lessons is because I want to better serve the zora, another is we will need a royal tutor for I will be the queen mother." "Yes it is good to prepare for that day, but we our not sure we can have children Hylian Zora female births are so low. If we have heirs I cannot think of a more suitable teacher than my father that was a splendid idea. " "Sidon we can have kids by someday I mean roughly seven months from now." Sidon almost lifts her off the ground then thinks better of it, he had always wanted a daughter, a sweet light like his sister.

A cooing noise brings Sidon back to the present his son is grasping Karlovaa's finger tightly the noise issuing from the small red and brown bundle. He could pick out various features that were his the pudgy hands seemed large for a newborn, the hair was closer to the color of his scales than a basic gerudo red, but the hook nose was his mother's. "He has a strong grip, look at the eyes, he has my pupils and your coloration." Many little things like that would be seen over the next few days and endlessly commented on by their friends and family. Do you want a little more time before I send them in? Sidon asks of his wife. "Did we want to keep the name we picked for a boy." Given the recent birth of the Hylian prince the couple had prudently picked one if it had been required. She receives a whispered "yes" in response for the tiny prince has become still. "One more thing then they can meet him, inform Riju and Bacta of his birth" Sidon starts Karlovaa always uses the royal title for her monarch, "They should know a male has been born, it has not happened in so long. "She explains to Sidon who is not sure this is the only reason. Father is probably beside himself send him in to meet his grandson. To meet litttle Seyda." Dorephan is teary eyed as he holds the baby with the folds of one fin. He had waited centuries for this day they are tears of joy and relief. "Sidon tomorrow we will have to talk tonight we can just enjoy that he is here." Karlovaa is physically and emotionally exhausted, these are some of the few words she managed that night. For she would have to explain what a boy meant for their lives. For all three of their lives she was the Queen mother of the Gerudo. The midwife exits the room takes a glass bottle from her medicine bag whispers the name of the parents and the child to a small ball inside and shakes it out of the nearest window. It floats tiny wings carrying it to a fountain where it will cross the land in a moment.

Thunk thunk! Bacta hears the door shake in its frame the gerudo general and a Gerudo with silver streaks are at the door, the second woman was the head midwife their were only two reasons she would be here to deliver the baby or to deliver news. Bacta is escorted to the entrance Queen Riju is already there no hair out of place, taking her out of the palace had no effect on the woman's poise or her regal prescence. Once Bacta is beside her grandmother the Matron Midwife begins "You have both served your ancestors well Lady Urbosa's line will retire from the crown with honor. King Seyda's line has been chosen by the ancestor's long may he reign. If either of you resist his new regime, the general will have no choice but to protect the new family." The Matron pauses for both former royals are on banded knee there would be no coup or resistance this was the way of the people. "I do have one question according to tradition the strongest warrior becomes the King's guard, will Bacta have to renounce her champion duties to fulfill that role?" "Hmm there has not been a champion since the last king was born the new queen mother Karlovaa will have to consider it." Riju glances at her granddaughter drawing attention to the name the throne was in good hands. "Until the King arrives you are reduced to Regent Riju, Bacta's position will be determined at that time." Inwardly Bacta doubts her friend's wife would strip the title for any reason, even among the Gerudo that name was rare and Dorado had mentioned the baby was coming in the next few days in his latest report. "I will work on my introduction speech for his highness and send the news to the other provinces. Though not the zora for their royal family is well acquainted with current events." Her job done the Matron leaves she would be back to assign a caretaker to the child.

Deep below ground the sword is gone, the shadowy manifestation of evil has vanished where could it have gone? With the advent of a single life much has changed in Hyrule two messengers will have out dated move before they reach their targets on the morrow. A forgotten race enters the picture amidst all this change a big red zora rocks his son to sleep at awe that he was here surprised, at a part of his nature he had forgotten about. "I will protect you Seyda you and your mom, nothing will keep me from that duty I promise." Karlovaa sighs her troubled sleep eased her subconscious reassured by this vow. As the baby falls asleep Vestus in the Zonai temple sees the moon return to normal, he has to tell the others someone must know why the blood moon had made this slight appearance.

Author's Note I will update when I can for today though just some pronunciation help Seyda is pronounced like the English word say with a elongated a as in the Greek word beta. I had to do a lot of perspective juggling here which is why this chapter jammed in my brain. I could not figure out how to write it and keep a good tone. Once I had the tone I wanted I just cut anything that took away from that and drug it out of my brain. Sincerely 4Coyote
