"Foxtrot? Foxtrot, where are you?"

"Tails."

"Foxtrot. You're alive."

"Almost."

"What do you mean?"

"Tails... you're here for a reason... it's not just for me..."

"Foxtrot?! Foxtrot!"

"Find your purpose Tails... find it! "

"I... I'll try..."

That midnight Tails awoke from his sleep and stepped outside to think. While leaning against the wall he noticed Cosmo going into one of the huts beside the building where the rest of the team were laying. Curious as to what she was up to he quietly followed her. Inside the hut Cosmo sat near a bed. On a nearby table was a bowl with some liquids inside it. Cosmo dipped a rag that she held in her right hand into the bowl and placed the rag over whoever was laying in the bed. Tails, trying not to make any noise, stepped closer to the bed to see who was lying in it, but Cosmo, through the corner of her eye, as she turned to dip the rag again, turned her head and saw Tails.

"Tails. I didn't know anyone was in here."

"What are you doing?" asked Tails, finally getting a glimpse of the face of the one Cosmo was tending to, a female echidna with a black headband, that looked like she was hurt pretty bad.

"Tails, this is Shade. I found her here in the village. She was hiding."

It was then Tails got a closer look at the headband and saw a familiar marking.

"She's one of them." Tails said in shock.

"Wait, before you get scared, let me explain." said Cosmo "When I found her she told me she was no longer with the Rogues. She said that the last time she worked with them she questioned the authority of her superior... and that's how she ended up here."

"That's right." said Shade weakly, opening her eyes, looking straight up at Tails "You look... familiar."

"Huh?" said Tails, a bit confused.

"You look like... someone I've seen before... except yellow instead of white." explained Shade.

Tails' eyes widened as she mentioned the word "white". He knew exactly who she was talking about.

"H-How did you know him?" asked Tails curiously.

"I was being held captive. The Rogues were on their way to rescue me, but he was there. He took care of me. Ended up letting me go."

"But wait, you were an enemy at the time." said Tails "Why'd he let you go?"

"He... must have saw some good in me. Saw that I was scared. He had a big heart... for doing what he did. I thought about escaping this island and going back to be with my family... but like an idiot I went back to the Rogues. But every day that went by I kept thinking about him. Wondering why he let me go. I suddenly realized that maybe he wanted me to find my purpose, and to find myself. At least that's what remember of all the things he told me."

After Shade finished her story she felt a sudden jolt of pain in her side and winced.

"Here." said Cosmo, dipping the rag into the bowl and placing it on Shade's side.

"So... should we tell the others?" asked Tails "Maybe they'll be able to help you."

"No..." groaned Shade, holding the rag to her side "No... they... they might get scared."

"But what if they don't? That looks like a serious injury." said Tails.

"No. I'll be fine." sighed Shade.

"Okay. I won't say anything. But they'll have to sooner or later."

"I know."

Shade looked up Tails and felt that familiar feeling she had when she met Foxtrot. Seeing that he could be trusted she smiled and thanked him. After Tails left Cosmo followed behind and called for him.

"Cosmo?"

"Tails... I... I..."

"It's okay Cosmo. I know."

Cosmo smiled and looked down at the ground. Tails cupped her chin and lifted up her head to look her in the eyes.

"When this is all over I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you."

And with that the two shared a kiss.
