In Robotnik's base, at the top floor of the building Robotnik lays upon the floor, blood pouring from his chest. Snively stands behind his uncle, taking the silencer off his gun and watching his uncle crawl to his desk.
"Y-You... son of a..." snarled Robotnik, clenching to the hole in his chest.
"What's the matter uncle?" smiled Snively "Having a little heart trouble."
"Wh... Why... d-did... you... do... it-t?" asked Robotnik, trying to turn himself over.
"Because I believe it's time for new leadership." said Snively, leaning on the desk as well, looking down at his suffering uncle.
"B-But... I... I did... everything... for you! You... d... ungh... you dare... do this... to me! You won't... get away... with..."
"Oh uncle Robotnik, I've already gotten away with it." laughed Snively, walking over to the door and opening it.
"N-No... you?" gasped Robotnik, staring up at the one standing at the door.
"Finish him off." ordered Snively.
Meanwhile, the team makes it back to the base only to find it in ruins.
"What the hell happened?" asked Knuckles stepping out of the jeep.
"Knuckles." shouted Shadow "We have some problems."
"I can see that." said Knuckles, looking at the mess.
"We seriously need to talk about a plan of action." said Rouge, walking in on the conversation.
"Alright. The rest of you go back to the barracks. We'll inform you when we need you again." ordered Knuckles, walking away with Rouge and Shadow.
Tails, Charmy, Vector, Ray and Bark head to the barracks. Once they step inside they hear a voice coming from the back of the building.
"Who the heck is that?" said Ray.
"Shh." said Tails, walking towards the back.
As Tails inched closer and closer to the voice he sees Bean in a chair talking on a two way radio.
"Are they back?" said a deep voice over the radio.
"I don't know. I haven't checked yet." answered Bean.
"Well check the surroundings."
"And what about the girl?"
"The green one is fine. She's in a holding cell. But the traitor won't be by the time we're done."
"Alright then. I'll head outside and see if they've returned."
"Good. Rogues out."
Bean turned in his chair and to his surprise his bunk mates were standing right behind.
"Guys! When did you get here?" asked Bean nervously.
"We just got here." said Tails.
"Oh." said Bean "How long have you been standing there?"
"Not long enough." said Vector, crossing his arms.
"You're one of them." said Ray.
"What? No!" said Bean.
"You liar!" screamed Ray, grabbing Bean by his neck kerchief "You were talking one. You're probably the one who gave them the idea to attack us."
Bean gulped. He looked from left to right and right to left. He knew he couldn't lie himself out of this one.
"Alright, alright!" screamed Bean "I let them know you were gone, but I never ordered them to attack you."
"And how can we trust you?" asked Charmy.
"I swear... I had nothing to do with it." panicked Bean.
"You need to tell Shadow." said Tails.
"What?" said Bean and Ray together.
"Are you serious?" asked Ray "We're just going to tell Shadow? That's it? He should suffer for what he did."
Ray turned towards Bean, ready to beat him, but Vector placed his hand on his shoulder. Ray looked at Vector, turned around and walked away. Charmy, Vector and Tails followed.
"Wait. Guys. Please." shouted Bean.
Bean watched the others leave and then looked up at Bark, trying to hold back his tears.
"Bark? Buddy? You won't leave me will you?" cried Bean.
Bark looked into Bean's eyes. Bean was taken aback by the hurt in his best friend's eyes.
"What have I done?!?" shouted Bean, sliding from his chair and onto the floor.
Bark followed the others out of the barracks, leaving his weeping friend behind to face whatever he had coming.
As the the five walked to Shadow's office they heard Knuckles coming to them from the right.
"Guys. Your next mission is a rescue mission." said Knuckles.
"Who needs rescued?" asked Vector.
"Our most visitor, Shade... and Cosmo."
