"Knuckles."

"Captain."

"Has there been any choppers come your way?"

"I see a couple coming in slow."

"The last one is on it's way. I'm inside of it. Unfortunately we had to leave one behind."

"Right. I'll be on the lookout."

Meanwhile, underneath the Angel Island base Snively, Cosmo and Foxtrot crept their way through the caverns.

"You had better be telling the truth my dear." snarled Snively, holding Cosmo at gun point "Foxtrot, go back and watch the entrance, I'll continue on from here.".

"Yes sir." said Foxtrot, running back the way they came.

"Why do you need it?" asked Cosmo "You have your bots and your drones, how much more firepower do you need?"

"It's not about firepower." said Snively "It's about control."

"Control?" asked Cosmo.

"Of course. After all... I'm a man that deserves it."

Outside the catacombs Tails climbed as high as he could go, wondering if Cosmo was still safe. Wondering if his cousin could be saved.

"I hope it helps." said Tails, tiredly sitting on the ground and taking a syringe from his pocket.

Fifteen hours earlier...

"I'm going to go save them."

"Tails wait."

"What is it Charmy?"

"You won't be able to save Foxtrot without this."

"What is it?"

"It's the same drug that was injected into him. It should cancel out the drug that's already in him."

"Thanks Charmy."

Present...

While Tails continued his climb he soon came face to face with his cousin, Foxtrot. Foxtrot lunged towards Tails, striking him in the jaw. Tails fell to the ground, just inches from the cliff. Foxtrot bent down and picked Tails up by his neck, dangling him over the cliff.

"Foxtrot... stop..." groaned Tails, trying to find the syringe in his pocket.

Angrily Foxtrot flung Tails to the side, causing him to drop the syringe in the snow.

"No!!!" shouted Tails, just before noticing Foxtrot coming towards him with a boulder.

Tails rolled out of the way as Foxtrot threw the boulder down, which bounced off the mountain and onto Snively's chopper. Tails dug through the snow to find the syringe, but Foxtrot came up from behind and once again picked Tails up by his neck.

"Foxtrot..." Tails murmured "Forgive me."

Swiftly Tails jabbed the syringe into Foxtrot's arm, causing him to let go and start screaming.

"Please Foxtrot. Try to remember." said Tails as Foxtrot began to come to his senses.

"T... Tails?" said Foxtrot weakly, falling back into the snow.

"Foxtrot." said Tails, running towards his fallen cousin "Foxtrot, do you remember anything?"

"I ... I remember him... talking... talking about a... green material... he... he was going to blow it up..."

"Do you know where they went?"

"In... a hidden door... just above us..."

"Good. Thank you." said Tails, trying to help Foxtrot off the ground.

"No... just... leave me here... please..."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes... I feel to weak... I'll slow you down... go... hurry..."

Tails felt a tear come to his eye. He didn't want to leave his cousin behind... but he also knew he had to stop Snively. As he slowly and cautiously made his up the mountain visions from his past echoed through his brain.

"Wee!!!"

"Hahaha! Okay that's enough."

"Aw, couldn't I have another piggyback ride Foxtrot?"

"Maybe later. I'm pooped. Come on, let's sit over here and rest up."

"Foxtrot, today was so fun. I hope every day is like this."

"Tails..."

"Yeah Foxtrot?"

"I'm afraid... not every day is going to be this way."

"Why?"

"I'll be leaving... tomorrow."

"Where are you going? Will you come back?"

"I don't know."

"HOW DON'T YOU KNOW?!? WHY ARE YOU LEAVING?!?"

"Tails."

"HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!!"

"Tails, please, I have to do this. I need to fulfill my duties. You understand don't you?"

"But what about me? What'll happen to me?"

"Don't worry little guy. You can keep in touch with me every day. We can write to each other and jot down some funny jokes to make each other laugh."

"I like that. But you will come back eventually, won't you?"

"I certainly hope so."

"Because if something bad is going to happen to you I'm not letting you go."

"Tails, they need me. I know you'll miss me, but would you rather I stay and watch something bad happen here?"

"I guess not. Well I'll go with you."

"No can do."

"But why?"

"Because you need to be there for your mom and your dad. They'll worry way too much about you."

"Oh."

"Don't worry. If I ever get finished with my duties I'll return and hang out like we always do."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Present...

Inside the caves Snively and Cosmo stopped in an area filled with green rocks.

"This is it." said Snively.

"What are you planning on doing with it." asked Cosmo as Snively walked towards the rocks to pick some up.

"My dear, this rock is capable of so many things. Firstly, I'll take it and inject as many inhabitants of the Isle of Babylon as I possibly can. Second, I'll melt it down and use it as fuel for my bots. And last but not least I'll blow up the rest so nobody else will be able to use it."

"Not on my watch."

Shocked, Snively turned around to see Tails standing behind him and a fist flying towards his long nose.

"Ow!" moaned Snively in pain "You! You're one of them! You and your stupid friends have been a thorn in my side for too long. Soon you won't have any place to go to."

Tails gasped, noticing a device strapped to the green rocks. Pushing Cosmo behind him Tails tried to talk Snively out of the whole plan.

"Your project will never succeed." said Tails.

"How did you know about it?" asked Snively, pointing his gun at Tails and Cosmo.

"I found out after we reprogrammed all of your bots." said Tails.

"You reprogrammed all of them? No matter, I can still get them back."

"No you can't. All of your equipment has been destroyed."

"But I still have the rock."

"At what cost?"

"What are you talking about?"

"If you're planning on injecting the whole world with it how can you be so sure you can control them?"

"I've done it once, I can do it again."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure."

"And what about Maria?"

"Where did you hear that name? WHO TOLD YOU?!?"

"I found that out too. Tell me, would Maria want you doing this?"

"Maria is DEAD. And all because of my DAMNED UNCLE. Now he's rotting in Hell like he should be."

"But she told you, she warned you about avenging her before she died. She said to run and not to look back again. She warned you not to go down the path of vengeance, and you let that vengeance consume you, so much that you felt like turning into your uncle."

Tails took out a note and handed it to Snively.

"I'm sorry Maria." Snively cried.

"Will you help us stop the bomb?" asked Tails.

"I'm afraid there's no stopping it. We need to get out of here as quickly as possible."

"Right then, lead the way." said Tails.

The three headed back towards the entrance of the cave, with Snively leading the way. Once at the hatch Snively climbed up to push the hatch open.

"It's stuck." said Snively, trying to push the hatch open.

"There should be another somewhere around here. But we'll have go deeper into the cave."

"Well what are we waiting for, let's go." said Snively, climbing down the ladder.

The three ran deeper through the catacombs, ending up underneath the base itself.

"I'll head up there first and bring my chopper around so we can get out of here quicker." said Snively.

"Good idea." said Tails, helping Snively up to the hanging ladder above.

Once out Snively searched for his chopper, but noticed it was too far to get to get to in time. He then saw another chopper straight to his right in the distance.

"Snively, hurry up and get that chopper. We need to get out of here, we only have three minutes." said Tails.

Snively turned around and looked into the hatch and grinned wickedly.

"Good luck getting out of this!" laughed Snively, closing the hatch on Tails and Cosmo.

"NO!!!" screamed Cosmo.

"SNIVELY!!!" shouted Tails "COME BACK!!!"

Snively ran towards the chopper, vengeance still within his evil heart.

Minutes later, Tails and Cosmo gave up hope that Snively would return. Cosmo held Tails tightly, scared to leave. Scared she may get torn away from him.

"It'll be alright." said Tails, comforting Cosmo "It'll be alright."

"Tails. If this is where we die, I'm glad I get to spend these last few moments with you." said Cosmo.

"I'm glad too." smiled Tails, kissing Cosmo.

But their kiss was cut short. The hatch above them opened up and there stood Foxtrot, holding a rope.

"Let's get you guys out of here." said Foxtrot, throwing the rope down.

"Thank you Foxtrot." smiled Tails, helping Cosmo up the rope.

"We need to get you two back to your plane." said Foxtrot.

"But all three of us won't fit in it." said Cosmo.

"I know." said Foxtrot.

"We can make room." said Tails.

"Too much weight. Remember, I'm still feeling the effects of that drug."

"But... I just found you." cried Tails.

"I know." said Foxtrot "But we haven't got time to talk. You need to hurry."

Tails felt tears swelling his eyes. Once again he had to leave his cousin behind, but this time he wasn't sure he'd ever see him again. Tails threw his arm around his cousin, hugging him.

"I'll miss you." said Tails.

"I know kid." said Foxtrot "I'll miss you too."

Tails let go of his cousin, knowing it may be last time he ever sees him again. Tails took Cosmo by the hand and ran towards the direction of the plane. With only thirty seconds to spare Tails and Cosmo flew off the island and away from base.

Meanwhile, Snively climbed into the chopper and tried starting it. But each time he tried it wouldn't start. He then noticed that the chopper was completely out of fuel.

"NOOO!!! NOOOO!!!" shouted Snively, pounding the wheel of the chopper.

Meanwhile the device had reached ten seconds and continued counting down. 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1.

Miles away from the base Cosmo and Tails watched the explosion. Everything had been destroyed and the war was finally over.

Two years later...

Everything went back to normal. Angel Island base was rebuilt thanks to the help of the Rogues and the bots. Knuckles had been promoted. Shadow retired. Bean returned to join the ranks once again. And many of the Rogues had decided to join. Tails and Cosmo on the other hand decided to leave and start a family of their own.

"Tails, the mail is here." said Cosmo.

"Coming." said Tails, going towards the front door, dodging the running children "Ah, kids."

"Here, it's for you." said Cosmo, handing the mail to Tails and kissing him on the cheek.

"Hmm. Wonder who it's from." said Tails, looking at the letter from Vector.

"Dear Tails, how are you doing? Hasn't been quite the same after you left. I've recently relocated to the Isle of Babylon. Shade and I are doing great. We're thinking about having our honeymoon around where you live, so we'll bump into each other again. Anyways, until then we still got a little cleaning up to do. I wish the best. From Vector and your friends from Angel Island."

Tails smiled and wiped a tear from his eye.

"Daddy! Ryan stole a cookie!" yelled one of the children from the kitchen.

"I'm coming!" said Tails, running towards the kitchen and placing the letter in his pocket.

The End
