A month later, it was announced that the treaty had finally finished. Though, even without the Council, there was still much to be debated between both parties.
A celebration with everyone was to be held a week from now. It was at the celebration that the new Council would be announced.
Currently, Yami was sitting in the garden with Anita, Honda, and Anthony.
"Can I hold her?" Anthony asked his eyes never leaving Anita. Yami smiled and looked to Honda who nodded softly.
"Of course you can," Yami said leaning over to help Anthony position his arms to hold Anita safely. Honda scooted closer just in case something were to happen. "That's it, just like that."
"She's heavy," Anthony said with a smile.
"She is," Yami said with a nod. "I would know, I had to carry her in me."
Anthony let out a soft giggle and stared down at Anita, the infant staring up at him with wide eyes.
After a few minutes, Anita started to get fussy and started squirming in Anthony's arms.
"Is she okay?" Anthony asked as Yami pulled her into his arms.
"She's just fine, don't worry," Yami said with a smile. "She's just hungry."
"You can tell what she wants?" Anthony asked with wide eyes. "But she doesn't talk yet."
"You're right about that," Yami said standing up from the ground. "But you learn what your baby wants based on their cries."
"Ohh," Anthony said with a nod.
"I'll see you both later," Yami said with a small wave, heading out of the garden and making his way down to the kitchen where one of the cooks seen him walk in.
"I figured it was that time," the cook said with a smile. Her name was Katherine and she started working in the kitchen two weeks ago. She was a mother herself with two boys and a daughter. "I already have her bottle ready."
"You're a life saver," Yami said with a smile, taking the bottle of milk Katherine handed him.
"Happy to help," Katherine said with a nod. "Lunch will be ready in a few minutes."
"I'll go put Anita down for her nap," Yami said as Anita drank from her bottle. "Are they still in the meeting room?"
"As far as I know they are," Katherine said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Alright," Yami said with a nod as Anita finished drinking her bottle and let out a yawn. "I'll be back later for another one."
"I'll be sure to have it ready," Katherine said with a smile, taking the bottle from Yami as the pair headed out of the kitchen.
"Do you think everyone will approve of the changes?" Atem asked turning to everyone in the room.
"It's definitely a big change for everyone," Yugi said with a nod.
"But as long as we stick to the promises made in the treaty and work alongside each other, I'm sure the people will approve," Ryou said with a smile.
"It will take some time to bring everything into effect," Seto pointed out. "But if we work together, it will get done efficiently and orderly."
"I agree," Heba said with a nod.
"Then it's settled," Atem said just a knock at the door echoed throughout the room. The door opened a few moments later and in walked Yami.
"Sorry to interrupt," Yami said with a soft smile, seeing how bored everyone was from the meeting. "But lunch is ready."
"Oh thank god," Bakura said standing up. "I'm starving."
The group headed down to the dining room, thankful for the break.
Yami smiled seeing Bakura and Ryou were holding hands as they walked, as were Marik and Malik. Yami turned to Heba who was walking alongside Yugi as he tapped his shoulder.
"20 bucks says Bakura to Ryou or Marik proposes to Malik by the end of the celebration," Heba said eyeing the couple with a smile.
"40 says they both do," Yami countered with a smirk.
"Deal," Heba said with a nod.
Atem just rolled his eyes and turned seeing Seto and Joey holding hands.
"50 says Seto proposes to Joey as well," Yugi said with a smile, he hadn't missed the couple holding hands.
"Deal," Yami and Heba said in unison as they entered the dining room and sat down.
A week later, the celebration was held at the palace. Of course, the humans were the most nervous. They were still weary of the vampires, which was to be expected. Which is why Atem allowed human guards at the celebration alongside the vampire guards.
"I'd like to thank you all for coming today," Atem announced standing up from his throne with a smile. "As you all have heard, the treaty between the vampires and the humans has finally finished and will be put into place as soon as possible."
The crowd clapped and cheered. They were all happy the treaty was finished.
"Both parties worked long hours every day to make sure the treaty was even on both ends," Atem said turning to Yami who nodded, Anita squirming in his arms. "Especially to the humans who had been suppressed until now."
Atem paused as the humans erupted into cheer once more. He smiled hearing how happy they were.
"We are also pleased to present to you the newly formed Council, which will consist of an even number of representatives from the vampires and the humans," Yami said as he stood up and turned to where the Council was waiting to be presented.
"First, the vampires," Atem said nodding to the side. "Prince Heba, Priest Seto, Lord Bakura, Lord Marik, and Lord Otogi." As each member was announced, they walked out and stood to the side of the thrones.
"And the humans," Yami said with a smile. "Yugi Motou, Joey Katsuya, Malik Ishtar, Ryou Vercelli, and Lord Honda."
With the Council presented, the crowd once more erupted into cheers and clapping.
"With that, please enjoy the rest of the celebration," Atem said with a smile.
The rest of the night was spent with vampires and humans coming up to greet Atem and Yami and to congratulate the others on their positions on the Council.
Thankfully, there were no incidents that night and everything went smoothly. The celebration going well into the night.
Yami sighed as he collapsed on the bed after putting Anita down. He had excused himself early to put her down to bed and found that he himself was also exhausted.
It had been a busy few months. With all that happened with the Council and then making sure the treaty was put together, everything seemed to go by so fast. It was the first time Yami actually felt like he could breathe properly.
He was already half asleep when he heard the door open softly and felt something pulling his boots off his feet. He recognized the soft touches the person was giving him. It could only be one person.
Atem.
Yami heard rustling in the drawers but he was slowly nodding off into sleep. He then felt was Atem pull his clothes off and dress him into something more comfortable than sleeping. He was then covered with the blankets he had pulled back before collapsing onto the bed.
The last thing he felt was Atem run his fingers through his hair softly before kissing his forehead softly.
"Good night love," Atem said with a smile as Yami finally drifted off to sleep.
Atem then headed into Anita's bedroom and smiled seeing her sleeping soundly. He closed the door but left it open a crack and pulled out his own night clothes and got ready for bed.
Tomorrow was the start of the treaty being put into place.
It was going to be a long day.
The next morning, work was started.
Atem, Yami, and the new Council got to work separating what would be the vampire's territory and what would be the human's territory. The land in the middle was to be the areas where everything was shared.
The next step was to go about setting rules for everyone. To make sure it was even on both sides. For example, the vampires were to turn to an animal blood based diet instead of human and the humans were not to hunt down any vampires.
If there ever was to be a problem, they could come to the palace to get their issue settled with a trial. Both sides would have their say and then a decision would be decided by Atem, Yami, and the Council.
After everything was settled, it was time to start rebuilding the towns that had been destroyed through the years of fighting. Yugi, Ryou, Joey, and Malik all worked with Atem and the builders to rebuild the towns with what would benefit the towns.
Such as schools in all towns, jobs for everyone, and equally shared land for each household. No one was more important than anyone else.
As it turns out, Yugi was correct in his bet.
Seto, Bakura, and Marik had all proposed to Joey, Ryou, and Malik by the end of the celebration of the treaty. Yami was disappointed he had missed it but they assured him it was nothing special.
A month later, a wedding was held at the palace for Seto and Joey. Humans and vampires attending the wedding to congratulate the couple.
A month later, it was Bakura and Ryou's wedding that took place at the palace.
Then a month later, it was Marik and Malik's wedding.
Ryou, Joey, and Malik were then moved into the palace to be closer to their mates and their friends.
Yugi had also moved into the palace. During the rebuild, Lady Tea had visited a few times and before Yami knew it, his little brother was engaged two months into their relationship and married a month later.
"Stop growing up so fast," Yami said as he helped Yugi get ready.
"I'm not that much older," Yugi said with a pout.
"To me you are," Yami said with a smile. "You're getting married for god's sake."
"Don't use the lord's name in vain," Yugi said with a smirk.
"You sound like grandmother," Yami said with a roll of his eyes. "She would always say that to my parents."
A knock at the door echoed throughout the room and in walked Heba.
"We're ready for you," Heba said with a smile.
"Right," Yugi said with a nod of his head. The brother duo walked down to the ballroom where the wedding was to be held and Yugi took a deep breath as he walked to the front of the aisle to wait for Tea.
"He looks like he's going to pass out," Atem said as Yami took his seat beside his husband and took their daughter into his arms.
"He's just nervous," Yami said with a smile. "He'll be fine."
The music started and the crowd turned as Tea started to walk down the aisle, escorted by her father. Her dress was beautiful but her smile is what brought everything together.
"We are gathered here to celebrate the mating of Lady Tea and Yugi Motou," Seto said with a smile. "Now, the rings if you please."
Mana, who was happy to be the ring bearer again stepped forward and presented the pillow with the rings on top.
"Yugi Motou, do you take Lady Tea to be your wife for eternity?" Seto asked to which Yugi nodded.
"I do," Yugi said with a smile, taking one of the rings and sliding it onto Tea's finger. Seto turned to Tea.
"Lady Tea, do you take Yugi Motou to be your husband for eternity?" Seto asked to which Tea nodded.
"I do," Tea said with a smile, taking one of the rings and sliding it onto Yugi's finger.
"Then with these rings you have created a vow that cannot be broken, one that is eternal and will live forever with you," Seto said as he stepped back with a soft smile. "I now pronounce you husband and wife."
The couple shared a kiss and the crowd erupted into celebration.
"So Heba," Bakura said turning to Heba with a smile. "When's the wedding between you and Princess Luciana?"
"Yeah Heba," Marik said with a grin. "Propose to her already."
"Preferably not on Yugi and Tea's wedding day though," Yami said glaring at Bakura and Marik.
"Obviously," Bakura said with a roll of his eyes.
"I saw the ring you picked Heba," Atem said with a smile. "She'll love it."
"I knew it!" Marik exclaimed with a smile. "Pay up Bakura!"
"You two," Honda said with a roll of his eyes. "Always with the bets."
"At least tell us as soon as it happens," Bakura said with a grumble as he handed the money over to Marik with a roll of his eyes.
"As soon as what happens?" a voice asked from behind the group. The group turned to find a woman standing with a smile.
She had sandy brown hair and brown eyes. She was dressed in a beautiful gown of dark magenta and a lighter magenta shade with off-the-shoulder sheer sleeves and a pink rose on the top of the bodice.
The woman also wore gold bracelets on her wrists and a gold necklace around her neck. Sitting on top of her head was a shimmering gold crown.
"Nothing," Heba said, his cheeks dusted a light pink. He then grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the group and to the dance floor.
"Who was that?" Yami asked turning to Atem.
"Princess Luciana," Atem answered with a smile.
The rest of the night was spent dancing and celebrating. Yami and Atem left early to put Anita down for bed, giving one last congratulation to the couple.
Sure enough, two months later, it was announced the Heba and Luciana were engaged and were to be married a month later.
Three months after Heba and Luciana were married, it was announced that Mai would be marrying her fiancé, Lord Jeremy.
Not only that but Ryou had announced his pregnancy with Bakura's child.
Of course, everyone was happy for the couple.
A month later, it was found that Malik was pregnant with Marik's child. That same day, Joey was also found to be pregnant with Seto's child.
"First weddings and now pregnancy announcements," Yami said as he brushed through Anita's hair softly.
"Soon enough we're going to crawling with kids yelling "daddy" and "papa" everywhere," Atem said with a chuckle.
"Don't forget "mama" for Tea and Mai whenever they decide to have kids," Yami said tying Anita's hair into a ponytail with a purple ribbon.
"D-d-d-d," Yami paused as did Atem. Atem dropped what he was doing and knelt down in front of Yami, smiling at Anita.
"Come on baby girl, say "dada", you're getting there," Atem said.
"Dada!" Anita yelled with a smile. Atem's smile grew as he pulled Anita into his arms and spun her around.
"You did it baby girl!" Atem exclaimed as Anita giggled as he spun her around.
Yami smiled watching Atem with their daughter. It was at that moment he realized everything was going to be okay from here on out. There was no more fighting, no more Council who only cared about the old traditions, and a bright future for their daughter.
'Yeah, we're gonna be alright' Yami thought as the sun began to set in the distance.
