Time for school

I shuffled through the hallway to my first class. Despite the new fresh smell of school clothes I was not happy. I had no friends here and I did not care one bit. These were the same idiots that had started crap with me when I was younger. There were a few new kids, kids I never even met before, but before long, theyd join the 'Lets pick on Wolf' fanclub. I made my way into my class and saw a teacher I despised. His name was Mr. Starkley and he taught a class that dealt with family, peer pressure etc. Starkley didn't like me none either. "Hewitt, how did you manage to get into 8th grade? Your mama do your work for you?" he asked with this shit eating grin. I smiled back. "Nope. I did all the work myself." Starkey's grin faded. "if you think this is going to be an easy ride, think again. Here we work for what we get. Not like your "family" who like use others. Speaking of which, how is Frankie? We use to be together you know…before she went slut mode." Starkley said cheerily. He said all this before students filed into his class.

"Mama's doin' well. And she asked me to say why don't you go home and fuck your dog, your donkey raping shit eating rectal wart." I dunno to some fucktard that got his ass beat by a girl. Don't know who that can be though." I replied thoughtfully. Starkly got to his feet and in my face. I did not back down. "You got a mouth on you Hewitt, and your damned lucky im on the clock. Because if I wasn't id tan your little hide from here until the next county." I smile as I see the new principal walking past. "Are you threatening me? Im a minor and you threaten me?" I grin. Starkly stops realizing his mistake. I smile knowingly waiting for his response, the principal shuts his door and walks away. Shit. Just great. This is not what I had planned on happening.

Starkey double pumps me in the face with his fists twice blacking my eye and busting my nose. I swing back and clock him in his jaw staggering him back. He then looses control. He slams me again and I taste blood as he slams his fist into my face. I fall backwards hitting my head onto the ground. Starkly then proceeds to give me a "texas stompin." A Texas Stompin' is a heavy duty shit kicking to the ribs, and stomach and then you remove the belt if you are wearing one and whip the living hell out of the one you have on the ground. I feel his belt whip me and the pain is fading away. He returns to his kicking and punching me until he is tired out. I don't feel anything anymore. I can hear him but that's it. That's when he gets really scared. Like he killed me scared. He grabs me and tries to wake me up. When I don't respond he grabs me and carries me out to his car, drives for a bit then dumps me off somewhere. He drives back to school I guess to begin his day with 5 minutes to spare. All this on a school day. I remember one of the teachers saying the'd "get me real bad" one day and I didn't really believe them until now. I wish mama was here, I wish my whole family was here. I slip away into blessed darkness letting go completely.

Emergency

I didn't know how long I was out. I woke up in the intensive care unit at the hospital. Mama was crying. The whole family was there in a little room that usually was for people whose family member/friend was dying or had died. A "quiet room" as Mama had said one time. The doctor was there trying to offer comfort to Mama who was in hysterics demanding to see me. Hoytt was muttering gently to 'let me go.' To my Mama. This got my Mama more upset. Mama was saying how she was not going to 'let me go.' And had threatened to kill Hoytt. I believed she would just by the tone in her voice. Hoytt backed away. Even Bubba stayed away from her. You remember when I said earlier how Mama killed a family member? It was a guy named *Cleaveland* I never met him. He was dead just before I came to live with my family. Mama never said why she killed him.

The doctor came in to look at me. I had stabilized a bit and he went and told Mama who had finally been convinced by Luda Mae to say goodbye. Tearfully she approached the doctor and before she had given consent to "end it" he told her I had stabilized. Mama fainted right away. The doctor had said all of the family could come in one at a time to see me. I was still half out of it when my family came in to see me. I would spend the better part of the month in the hospital recovering. One thing I do know though, Starkley would soon wish he was never born. When I was out of the hospital, we would invite the doctor over for dinner. And no we would not have him as the main course being as he did everything within his power to save me. Saving a Hewitt's life was held in high regard with us. We would just have to be careful as to what we ate. Maybe we could go out to dinner instead…a concept almost unheard of. I had never eaten in a resteraunt before.

The month flew by and the doctor that had helped me made sure I was taken care of and treated well. He was cute, kind, and if he wasn't a doctor or against our ways of life Mama would have probably asked if he'd like to be my daddy. Or at least a friend. We had few friends that did not know of our lifestyle. Friends we had known for a very long time. They thought of us as regular folk who wouldn't harm a fly, they stayed at our house which was almost unheard of, and left when their visit was over all the more happier.

I would have a slight limp the doctor had said. Which I guess would be fine considering how I almost had died. Mama had said I was right at death's door. All that needed to be done was to unplug a machine and I'd slip away quietly.

While I rested at home everyone insisted to know how I ended up in my near death shape I was in. I must have told the story a million times. Mama knew Starkly and had invited him over to dinner. But this wasn't going to be a regular dinner, no. you see we were having special beef. This beef took days and days to prepare. The method involved making sure the animal used (Starkly in this case) was kept alive while being prepared. It was so old and horrible but im going to tell you how they prepare the meal.
