Out To Dinner
Wolf found herself and her family being invited out to dinner at a nice resteraunt by the doctor that had saved her life after being nearly beaten to death. She had never even been inside such an establishment therefore did not know what behaviors to exhibit. Her mother knew somewhat, but who knew the best was Hoytt. He had told them the basic rules of dining out. Many of the rules were easy 'no brainers,' such as No burping without saying excuse me, chewing with your mouth closed, no boisterous behavior and so forth. The doctor had originally had said they were going to eat at a 5 star place that required reservations a week in advance.
Frankie donned a nice form fitting dress, and Wolf wore one of her more nicer 'Church going clothes.' As they took their seats they got plenty of stares from other patrons. One of them whispered to his companion, "That's the Hewitt Family. What makes them think they are good enough to dine in here? Freakin' weirdos." Wolf heared what they said and barely whispered "fuck off." As she passed by. She had promised her mother she'd be on her best behavior. Another guest whispered, "sluts" referring to both Frankie and Wolf. Frankie stopped and went to turn around. She had planned on ramming the steak knife down the irritating fool's throat. "let it go Frankie. Let. It. Go. FRANKIE!" Luda May hissed. Luckily Frankie opted to listen. The last thing they needed was a bloodbath.
Wolf sat down and thumbed through the menu finding a few things she was interested in. Frankie was busy staring at the doctor wondering if he was single. He was that cute. Bubba was happily drawing something with some crayons he had found on the next table. When he was finished drawing he proudly showed his party what he had drawn. It was a stick figure, standing next to a female with red hair. The male's penis was angled towards the female. Bubba giggled and turned red. Frankie blushed knowing whom he was referencing. Wolf facepalmed herself. 'Dammit Bubba.' She thought to herself. The doctor raised and eyebrow but said nothing. "He's a bit slow. He had the mentality of a child no more than 5." Hoytt said quickly before things could escalate. The doctor nodded. This family was a bit…odd. Frankie didn't look quite old enough to be Wolf's mother. Maybe an older sister but that was it. Had Wolf been 5 or even 10 she would have passed. Wolf sat rather bored waiting for the waiter to arrive and take their order. When he did arrive they placed their order without delay. Franie ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink. Wolf wanted a sampler plate which consisted of 6 oz steak, breaded salmon, shrimp, and a rainbow fish. Bubba wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, Luda Mae a salad, Hoytt a steak med rare.
They ate their meal and talked about different things. After dinner they went to the Hewitt residence and talked some more. At least Frankie and the doctor did. She told him of how Wolf came to live with them. Wolf for her part, had left her mother and the Good Doctor alone to their business. Frankie liking the doctor was no secret.
"So how did Wolf come to live here?" he asked curious. Frankie sighed and smiled.
We got Wolf when she was a mere baby. Bubba found her when he was dumping…garbage. Someone left her in a car all by herself. Bubba got her out and brought her home. So we raised her. Raising a kid, its hard at times. 2 times before we met you she almost…almost…died. The first time she was raped by an aquaintace named Tex. Then he shot her. We took care of him though. The second time, robbers came into our home and one of them took her on a survelence run. His partner ordered her to be killed and I heard the shot. I thought that she was dead. So I fought against the bastard that ordered her dead, not caring if I got shot none. She wasn't harmed. Then you know the third one that nearly happened.
Wolf has her troubles in school too. She's always getting' into fights with other kids. They're always startin' stuff with her. So I told her that if they hit her, she hits them and make it worth getting suspended or expelled. Other than that other typical kid stuff. She ain't got no daddy. And I haven't found one suitable for her. Every man I dated prior to adopting Wolf was a bastard. Drunks, drug users, ones that liked to use women as punching bags, you name it.
Frankie smiled. The doctor smiled back. "I never told you my name. My name is Richard. Frankie smiled. "That's a nice name." she blushed scooting in closer to him. Richard blushed and cleared his throat. Clearly, Frankie was a very beautiful woman. And had he been interested in women, he would have leaned in to kiss her. 'Better tell her now, to avoid hurt feelings.' He thought to himself. Gently he pushed her back. Frankie looked at him confused. "Uh, Frankie, you're a real nice woman and all. And very beautiful. But its only fair to let you know that I am not interested in women romantically. I like men." Richard said this to her as gently as possible. He liked Frankie, he really did. Her daughter as well. The rest of her family…ehhh… Frankie sat upright, understanding. A bit upset but she understood. And she thanked him for being upfront about it.
She and her family had promised they would neverharm Richard. As far as they were concerned, Richard was now an adopted Hewitt. Even if he never found out. Richard kissed Frankie on the cheek and bid her farewell, having to return to work the next day. After he left she realized she didn't really like him in that way either. It was that she was not used to having a man treat her with kindness before. It felt nice. she checked on Wolf one final time before heading down to the bar. Wolf had fallen asleep sprawled across her bed oblivious to her mother's leaving.
