Guardians Of The Hellmouth - Episode 1: Welcome To The Hellmouth

*Six Weeks Ago*

The bells chimed in Hemery High, as a young blond girl sat outside of the Principal's office, quietly picking her cuticles as she looked towards the office door. She could hear the people walking around the hallway, making their way towards their classes. She heard the office door opening and someone clearing their throat. She looked up and made eye contact with Principal Snyder, the Principal of Hemery High.

"Miss Summers, can you come into my office please?" The weasel-like man spoke, his shrill voice cutting through the silence like a knife. The blond girl nodded her head as she pushed herself off the uncomfortable, worn pleather chair. She walked into the office and made eye contact with the older blond woman, who sat with her back to the girl.

"Hey mom," The girl spoke nervously.

"Not now Buffy, we'll discuss this at home!" The woman spoke, anger evident in her voice. Principal Snyder made his way back to his desk and sat down on his chair.

"You know why you're here, right Miss Summers?"

"I assume it's about what happened last night at the dance, right?"

"Is that how you describe the damage you caused by burning down the gym?"

"I-"

"Ms Summers, we've given you a lot of slack recently. Your grades have slipped massively, your teachers have informed me that you've been acting out in class and your attendance is abysmal, but this is the final straw. Ms Summers, I have no choice, but to expel you."

"Expel? Seriously Snyder?" Buffy said. Her eyes narrowed. "Did you speak to anyone who was actually at the dance? Pike? Billy Fordman? Benny? Rory? Anyone?"

"I didn't need to, Ms Summers. There's CCTV footage of you starting the fire. We'll have your permanent record passed onto your new school, if there is a school dumb enough to take you."

"Principal Snyder, I appreciate my daughter made a huge mistake," Joyce said, side-eying her daughter, "But there's no need to be rude. I don't think the superintendent would be pleased to hear you're talking to a student like that."

"That's the thing Mrs Summers. Your daughter isn't a student of Hemery High anymore." The man said with a smug smile on his face. It took everything in Buffy not to throw the man's coffee mug at his head. He was always rude and always wanted an excuse to get rid of her. She was just dumb enough to play right into his hands. "You're both free to leave."

"Come on Buffy." Joyce said, standing up, throwing her purse over her shoulder. She made her way out of the hallway. "We'll talk about this at home. Where's your brother?"

"I think he's in English. You're not gonna pull him out of class are you?"

"We won't have a choice, sweetheart. Snyder's going to make his life a misery if we don't."

**Today**

Buffy lay in her bed, tossing and turning, her dreams interrupted by vivid visions. Visions of an older man, his face covered in blood as he held a blond girl, dressed in a long white dress. The girl's head was twisted to the side, as blood poured from two puncture wounds. She could almost feel the pain the girl was in as she had her life drained from her. The dream flashed to an enormous snake-like creature bursting through a wooden floor, destroying the floorboards. She could hear screams of panic and terror. "BUFFY!" A voice called out in the dream. Buffy couldn't see who called her name, nor did she recognise the voice. "BUFFY, DO SOMETHING!" The dream shifted again, as a silver cross falling to the floor, clinking hard against the broken tile. She heard her twin brother, Rory, screaming. His voice filled with fear and anguish before Buffy was pulled from her slumber by the ringing of her morning alarm. She groaned, rolling onto her back.

"Buffy?" Her mom's voice came through the door.

"I'm up, Mom!" Buffy called out, her voice slightly hoarse from waking up.

"Don't want to be late on your first day!" Joyce called up, causing Buffy to roll her eyes.

"No...Wouldn't want that." Buffy said to herself, pushing herself out of bed. She reluctantly pulled herself from below her comforter and made her way down the hallway, to the family bathroom. She pushed the door open, finding her twin brother standing at the sink, brushing his annoyingly perfect teeth. He smirked at her as he continued to brush, slowing his pace down.

"Seriously Ror?" Buffy said. He just laughed slightly, before spitting into the sink. Buffy rolled her eyes, side-bumping her brother over a little so she could get into the sink too. Rory finished brushing his teeth quickly, before rinsing his toothbrush and returning it to the toothbrush holder.

"I see you're in a great mood today Buff." The blond boy said, smiling at his sister. Buffy spit into the sink, before looking at her brother.

"The dreams were back again."

"Again? Do you think we should call Merrick?" Rory said, leaning against the counter.

"I'd love to, but she's retired now. You know she'd trained 5 other slayers before me and apparently, I was enough to put her off training anyone else."

"Do you have any way to contact the Watchers Council, like at all?"

"Nope, and I'd like to keep it that way." Buffy said, before returning to brushing her teeth. She looked into Rory's eyes, noting the worry present. She quickly spit into the sink and rinsed her mouth. "Rory, don't worry. It's probably just first day jitters. It's our first day at a new school, and the first day of Sophomore year."

"If you say so." Rory said, his voice dripping with skepticism.

"I do, now go get changed. You gotta look good for all those pretty girls, who'll no doubt be throwing themselves at you!"

"Oh, like that ever happens." Rory said, disappearing into his room.

Less than an hour later, Joyce Summers' car pulled into the drop off area outside Sunnydale High school. She turned to her two children, Buffy in the front seat, her long blond hair pulled into a tight braid, and Rory sitting on the backseat, with his hair falling into his face, as he scrolled through his phone.

"Okay kids, have fun on your first day." Joyce said, smiling sweetly at her kids. "I'm sure you'll both make a lot of friends right away. Just think positive."

"Bye Mom." The boy said, a small smile on his face as he climbed out of the car. Buffy followed suit, climbing out the car.

"Oh Buffy," Joyce called out. Buffy turned around, crouching down, looking back in the car. "Try not to get kicked out."

"I promise!" Buffy said, smiling awkwardly. Buffy walked to her brother's side and just stared at the school for a second. "You ready for this, Ror?"

"It can't be too bad, right?" The boy said, wrapping his arm around his sister's shoulder. "Can you try to not burn this school down please?"

"As long as the vampires don't attack the school dance, I'll try not to burn the place down." Rory laughed as he and his sister made their way up the stairs to the front entrance.

Guardians of the Hellmouth is one part of my upcoming shared universe, where a recast version of multiple TV shows exist together. Guardians of the Hellmouth is a mixture of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Teen Wolf, where the characters are friends and attend the same school.

Important changes will be explained as the story progresses, as it'll be a part of the World Building process, but some key things to mention initially are:

Sunnydale is a part of Beacon County, and possesses both the Hellmouth(a beacon for demonic creatures) and a Nemeton(a beacon for Supernatural beings in general) which is why so much supernatural activity takes place there.

The school they attend will be Sunnydale High.

This takes place as though these shows were made/cast in 2022, so a modern, realistic cast is a must. The cast will be posted on mycast and the link will be posted to my profile when the submissions close.

You can create original characters, who could take the place of Canonical characters if I think they'll work in the story, but I'll also be looking for canonical characters, but they don't need to be exactly like their OG counterparts. For example, Cordelia can be a psychic from the get-go, rather than gaining the ability when she's 19/20, like she did in Angel.

If you're submitting a character and want their family to be a main component(like submitting a remake of Derek Hale, who's family is a major part of his backstory/storylines), please create the rest of the family too, or at least be willing to help me create the characters/cast them(that way I can describe them in the story)

I'll be looking to accept some more diverse characters(POCs, LGBTQIA+) along with some supernatural beings. If your submitted character is canonically a supernatural being, try to keep them the same species, or at least similar to their OG counterparts. There is only 1 slayer at a time, like in the original BtVS, which is Buffy.

There are 4 canon characters who'll definitely be returning(albeit recast with modern actors) are Buffy Summers, Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski and Willow Rosenberg. I've already created an updated version of Buffy, along with her immediate family, but haven't created counterparts for the others. If you're interested in submitting for any of the other 3, drop me a message and I can discuss some ideas/storylines I've already had for the characters. I've added some of Buffy's form at the bottom of the form, so you can get an idea of casting/age range for the high school aged characters.

If you're submitting an actor to 'portray' the characters, please base it off that actor's current appearance.

Clothing Style: Buffy tends to dress like a typical teenage girl, opting to wear ripped jeans and a leather jacket quite frequently. She often wears a beanie hat, but mainly at night. She can occasionally be seen wearing a patterned short dress or mini-skirt, usually paired with a pair of knee high boots. She can almost always be seen wearing a silver cross on her neck and a collection of rings on her left hand.

Academic Performance: 3.0 GPA

Background/ History: Growing up in LA, Buffy had the perfect life, with the loving mother and father and a twin brother she often bickered with. Everything was perfect until she was 14. Buffy began experiencing strange and violent dreams, often depicting a young woman being attacked and killed by monsters. She kept the information secret, until she was visited at school by a woman named Maria Merrick, who revealed to Buffy that she had been activated as the Slayer. Merrick explained what that meant to Buffy and confirmed that Buffy's dreams were memories, triggered by her connection to the Slayer line. After training for a few weeks with Maria, Buffy was forced to burn her high school gym down after a school dance was attacked by vampires. Buffy was expelled from school, prompting her mother, Joyce, to start looking for a new school for her kids. While this was happening, Joyce and Hank, Buffy's father, began divorce proceedings, having spent the last few years in couples therapy. Joyce was offered the opportunity to take over for her former mentor in an Art Gallery in a small town in Beacon County, named Sunnydale.

Family(+Relationship with those family members + who portrays them): Joyce Summers, Buffy's over protective yet well-meaning mother. Having had a rebellious streak in her youth, Joyce constantly tried to get Buffy and Rory to steer themselves in the right direction to keep them out of trouble. After her rebellious streak ended, Joyce threw herself into religion, which she often tries to push on her kids. She's portrayed by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Hank Summers, Buffy's workaholic and distant father. He often went away on business trips when the family lived in LA, and it was later revealed that he'd had an affair with a colleague. When Buffy started getting into trouble, Hank started throwing money at the situation, spoiling his daughter, but never actually giving her too much attention, other than their yearly trips to Disney for the Twins' birthdays. He's portrayed by Ryan Phillipe.

Rory Summers, Buffy's twin brother, whom she's very close to. When she was first activated as a slayer, she confided in Rory, who was there for her and aided her in fighting the vampires in the school gym. He's 7 minutes younger than Buffy, which she regularly points out to him. He's the smarter twin, often tutoring Buffy with her school work. He's portrayed by George Sear.

Fears: Becoming a Vampire

Secrets: That she's the Slayer.
