Guardians Of The Hellmouth - Welcome To The Hellmouth Part 2

The rusted green jeep pulled into the school parking lot, stopping abruptly as the driver turned off the engine. Two boys climbed out of the jeep, the taller of the two frowned as he made his way around the front of the car.

"How did you get your license again?"

"I'll have you know I'm a fantastic driver!" The shorter boy said with a bright smile on his face.

"Stiles, while I appreciate you bringing me to school, I think I'm gonna take the bus tomorrow. I wanna make it to the end of the school year!"

"Scotty, come on! I'm a great driver."

"Dude, you almost drove into three mailboxes and a trashcan and that was just on my street!" Scott said, laughing at his friend.

"But did you die?" Stiles said brightly.

"I-You-I-" Scott stuttered.

"My dad came home late again last night. From what I could tell from the radio, there was a body found in the woods."

"A body? Like a dead body?" Scott asked, tilting his head to the side. Stiles stopped and turned to his friend, his face falling.

"No, a body of water. Yes dumbass, a dead body!" Stiles said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I tried to call you but it went straight to voicemail. Why did your phone go to voicemail Scotty?"

"Because I was trying to get a good night's sleep for practice today?"

"Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort!"

"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." Scott said, his face turning into a bright smile.

"Hey, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one!" Stiles said, pulling out his phone.

"Happy Sophomore year boys!" A voice said from behind the boys. The pair turned around, seeing the short red haired girl with freckles dotted across her face smiling brightly at them.

"Hey Will," Both boys said, smiling at the red head.

"You guys ready?"

"Not even a little bit!" Scott said, smiling awkwardly. "Between school, Lacrosse and the clinic, I don't know how I'll survive this year!"

"You know Stiles and I are always here to tutor you if you need it." Willow said, putting her hand on Scott's shoulder. "Not that I think you'll need it. You're a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for." Stiles let out a loud groan, drawing the attention of his two friends.

"Wills, did you get the email from Flutie this morning?"

"The one about the new kids? Yeah." Willow said, smiling softly. "Yup. Principal Flutie sent me their class schedules. Looks like they're gonna be in a lot of our classes this semester."

"How did you manage to get the Principal to send you their schedules exactly?" Scott asked.

"It's just the kind of pull you have when you're one of the smartest kids in school and your mom's the head of the PTA."

"What kind of name is Buffy anyway?" Stiles asked, locking his phone and shoving it into his pocket.

The older man flicked through the file in his hand, occasionally looking up at the two new students sitting across from him.

"Buffy Summers, sophomore, late of Hemery High in Los Angeles. Interesting record you have here Miss Summers. Quite the career." He looked up from the file in front of him, taking hold of the paper he was reading. He held it up in front of the twins, and ripped the paper into four pieces. "Welcome to Sunnydale kids! A clean slate, that's what you both get here. Rory, I know you had straight As back in LA, but it's only fair that you and your sister are treated fairly here. The past is the past. It doesn't matter that you-" He picked up the ripped paper, reading it, his face dropping in realization. "You set fire to the gym?"

"Principal Flutie," Buffy started.

"All the kids here are free to call me Bob."

"Oh, okay. Bob," Buffy started again.

"But they don't." Rory sniggered, looking down at his crossed hands, trying to hold his laugh in.

"Principal Flute, I know my transcript is a little - colorful."

"Hey, hey hey now! We don't care about that here!" He said with a reassuring smile. "Not to nitpick though, but is colorful the right word? Not, say, dismal?"

"It wasn't that bad," Buffy said defensively.

"Buff!" Rory whispered, giving his sister a look that said stop.

"Buffy, you set fire to a gym."

"I did, like I really did. But you're not seeing the big picture!"

"And what's the big picture?"

"The gym was full of va-"

"Mold!" Rory said, cutting his sister off. "If anything, Buffy did the school a favor."

"Regardless, none of that matters here. You get a fresh start. I know that at a lot of schools, they'd tell you they're watching your back or they're keeping an eye on you, but at Sunnydale High, we're just not like that!"

"That's great to know, sir." Rory said politely.

"We're here to service whatever you need. And we ask that you respect our needs. And if our needs and your needs don't mesh, then we might need to have a much more difficult conversation."

"Understood sir." Buffy said, picking her cuticle.

"Now, your chaperones should be just outside waiting for you."

"Chaperones?" Rory asked.

"Oh yes. For new students, we like to go the extra mile and have our best and brightest guide you through the school for the first day." The door knocked quietly and the Principal looked up. "Come on in kiddos." The door opened and Willow and Stiles walked in, Stiles looking less than impressed. He looked over at the two Summers teens sitting in the chairs, and his deep brown eyes widened, as he gulped but he was quick to recover. "Buffy, Rory, I'd like to introduce you to two of the brightest stars at Sunnydale high."

"I'm Stiles, this is-"

"I'm Willow," The girl said, her hands buried in the pockets of her baggy jeans.

"Now, you four, run along to class. I look forward to hearing great things from these two and your teachers." Principal Flutie said, as he slid the ripped paper back into Buffy's file and closed it.
