Part 12: Fight in the air and Injured

Johnny continued clenching his fists as he looked at the military commander, ""Ill give you one last chance, put down your weapons and the rest of your group wont be harmed," the commander said from the chopper.

"What so you can lock them up," Joel said looking angry.

"Very well then, if you wont listen to reason," he said before nodding at someone else on the chopper. Johnny then looked surprised as another military soldier aimed an assault rifle at the three of them, "Then perhaps you'll listen with force,".

"Johnny," Philip said before the three of them were lifted into the air. As Johnny flew them over the chopper he could hear the commander say, "What the,".

Johnny with a serious look on his face looked around for a building and then spotted one with a stairwell leading into it. He tossed Joel and Paul onto the roof while staying in the air.

"JOHNNY WHAT ARE YOU DOING," Joel yelled.

"Go back with the others Ill take care of this," Johnny said watching as the chopper began to move.

"I'm not leaving you alone with that thing," Philip said before ducking down when the soldier with the assault rifle fired at them. Johnny looking angry as he pointed his at the assault rifle and clenched his fist before tossing the assault rifle out of the soldiers hand. The soldier looked surprised.

"You gotta make sure everyone is okay, now go," Johnny said looking serious.

"No get down now," Joel said.

"JUST GO," he yelled before flying right at the chopper just as the soldier was pulling out a pistol. He kicked the soldier in the face and sent him flying outside the chopper before being punched into a seat by the commander.

"Just what the hell are you," the commander said going to punch him again but Johnny blocked him and punched him across the face.

"It's a long story," he said before kicking the commanders leg making him fall on the ground.

"Hey," the man at the controls said aiming a pistol at Johnny. Johnny waved his right hand and sent it flying into one of the controls making the chopper shake. Johnny almost fell over just as the commander ran at him with a knife and Johnny grabbed both of his arms to stop the knife from reaching him.

"Get us out of here," the commander said just before Johnny pushed him back and onto the ground. Johnny was about to walk over to him when he pulled out a gun and aimed it at him. He pushed it away from aiming at him and the commander fired when he did. The bullet hit the controls making the sparks fly as the pilot let go of the controls and the chopper began to spin out of control.

"Ahh," the commander screamed pushing Johnny into the ground making him grunt in pain as the commander put his arm into his neck, "Look what you've done you fool," he said before punching him across the face.

"I wasn't the one who fired," Johnny said pushing his right hand into the commanders chest. The commander hit the ceiling and Johnny stood up when he saw the pilot about throw a knife at him. Johnny then looked surprised as the ground came into view. The helicopter crashed from the front killing the pilot as Johnny fell back to the ground. Johnny felt pain in his arms and right leg.

"Somethings wrong with my left arm," he thought holdings his left shoulder when he noticed the flames. He looked surprised before flying right out of the chopper a second before it exploded. He hit the wall of a building and fell onto the ground when he heard voices from the road.

"Commander, are you alright," a male voice said.

"Theres another group in the city, one of them has some kind of ability," the commander said from the other side of the destroyed chopper, "Find them," he said.

"He must have slid out before we crashed," Johnny thought looking annoyed as he tried to stand up but grunted from the pain his arms and leg. He then felt tired, "Oh no, not now," he thought before falling asleep.

After he didn't know how much time passed when he started waking up, he heard a male voice speak up, "I'm going to check here," he said.

Johnny instantly took out his pistol and felt relieved when he still had his switchblade. A man walked into the alleyway dressed in military gear but with no helmet. He had brown hair and looked surprised before Johnny aimed his pistol at him.

"Whoa hold your fire, I'm on your side," he said quickly putting his assault rifle on the ground and holding his hands in the air.

"Really, all of you seem to be trying to kill me and my group since we got into the city," Johnny said standing feeling a little surprised his right leg was much better. The sudden pain in his left arm and the pain in his right arm was also gone.

"Yeah but Im not like the rest of them and thats why Derek let me join him," said the man making Johnny look confused. "My names Dylan, Im their military informant and one of the people you rescued was his wife Clare," he said.

Johnny looked at him closely and he looked determined. He also didn't hesitate to put his gun down when he first saw him, "Alright," he said putting his pistol away before standing up slowly.

"Here hold up, your injured," Dylan said grabbing one of his arms. Johnny noticed a red mark on his left arm and looked like it had been bleeding.

"Its fine I can heal quickly," he said smiling.

"That's good, that asshole is ruthless whenever he had us run drills," Dylan said before leading them in the opposite direction from where he came.

"What made you change sides," Johnny said.

"When I took a closer look at what was happening to the people in this city, why'd you come to help?" Dylan asked calmly.

"I heard what the other resistance members were saying and I wanted to use my power to help people," Johnny said.

"Well we haven't won yet, last time I heard the commander is pissed that the chopper got destroyed," Dylan said before leading them into a building. Johnny recognized it from the map Derek showed him earlier and knew it connected to the tunnels back to the hideout.

"He has everyone in searching the city for both the resistance and your group, he thinks you died in the explosion," said Dylan.

"Well hes not going to get away," Johnny said looking determined without noticing Dylan was smiling. They eventually reached the tunnel and were close the hideout when they heard the sound of someone getting punched.

"Derek," a female voice said, sounding worried and Johnny made have heard her once but he knew it was Clare.

"This isn't good," Dylan said as Johnny stood on his own. They reached the open area finding Tommy standing over Derek who had his right hand over his face. Tommys fists were both clenched while Ellie stood next to him with Philip. Clare crouched down next to her husband who sat up looking down.

"Listen I stand by my choice," Derek said.

"Why didn't you tell us they had a fucking chopper," Tommy said looking angry.

"Because I thought he could handle it and looks like he did take care of it," Derek said looking up.

"Yeah but hes not invincible," Ellie said looking annoyed but also a little worried.

"Hes never even seen an actual chopper fly and you set him up," Tommy said looking angry as Derek stood back up.

"ENOUGH," Johnny yelled getting their attention. Tommy look surprised before Ellie quickly ran over to her boyfriend and hugged him. He hugged her back glad to see she was okay.

"Your alive," said Ellie with her head resting on his shoulder.

"I'm just glad to see you made it back okay," Johnny said before smiling at Tommy who smiled back at him.

"See hes fine," Derek said before Johnny walked over to him with an angry look on his face making him look surprised.

"If were going to be working together I need you tell me everything, you just didn't put me in danger but the rest of my group as well," he said looking annoyed.

Derek looked surprised before looking down, "I'm sorry, I just needed to save Clare," he said.

"Were really happy you came to help us," said Clare putting a hand on her husbands shoulder.

"Were glad to, Philip any injury's and where's Joel?" He asked.

"Joel went with one of the resistance members to go look for you after he helped bring us back here, I think he knows her," Paul said looking confused.

"He means Jessie," Tommy said.

"Right, most of us got away with a few scrapes while some of the prisoners got hit in the leg or arm," Philip said when David walk over wearing plastic gloves.

"Luckily it wasn't anything Major, they're all going to be fine but whatever future battle you have planned they need to stay out of it," said David.

"Also you might want to check on Lily, shes looking after Dean," he said looking at Johnny while pointing in the direction of the medical area.

"Alright, will talk about what to do next when Joel gets back," said Johnny looking at Derek.

"Sounds good to me," Tommy said looking at Derek once before he started walking away.

"Listen," Derek said getting their attention. "I thought if I told you about it then you wouldnt help us and I thought someone with that power was the only person that could help us," he said looking down.

"Its alright," said Johnny making everyone look at him.

"You sure," said Ellie.

"Yeah, I know what its like to want to save someone you care about," Johnny said before he and Ellie headed to the medical area. They found Lily sitting next to Dean on a camp bed with his shoulder bandaged up.

"You made it back, you must be relieved," Lily said looking at Ellie.

"You have no idea," Ellie said holding Johnnys hand. "Where did they even get a chopper from anyway," she said looking confused.

"Probably found a mechanic that could help them, sure there werent that many working trucks back in Jackson before we met Conners group," Lily said.

"Makes sense, so how did this happen," Johnny said pointing at Deans shoulder.

"Oh I got hit by a bullet, luckily it only grazed me," said Dean.

"It wasn't just that, he pushed me out of the way to save me," Lily said smiling.

"I was just looking out for you," Dean said rubbing the back of his head looking embarrassed. Johnny and Ellie smiled at each other knowing there was more to it.

"Whats this, weird place to go on a double date isn't it," Bill said walking over.

"Now I'm starting to see why you werent excited to meet this guy," Lily said before sighing and standing up, "I'm going to get us some food," she said smiling at Dean.

"Thank you," he said.

"Bill what happened," Johnny said looking surprised after noticing part of his shirt was cut.

"Oh, smart asshole came at me with a knife, didn't hit anything major so I should be fine," Bill said smiling, "Wish we could use radios so we could tell Joel whats going on, he didn't look happy when he said you were still out there," he said looking towards the exit where Derrick was talking to Dylan.

"Well all we can do now is wait till they come back," Johnny said as they waited for Joel and Jessie to get get back before they could face the military commander again.
