Part 17: Meeting in the mountain
As the snow started to fall down faster outside. Ellie, Lily and Dina were sitting near the back of the store as they waited for the test result, "How long is it suppose to take," Ellie said looking annoyed.
"Should be another few minutes," Lily said before Ellie let out a sigh as she sat back.
"So what are you going to do if your actually pregnant," Dina said.
"Well for starters I guess I cant go on missions for a long time," Ellie said.
"Definitely," Lily said.
"But what about Johnny," Dina said getting their attention, "Will he have to a break too from missions, he is the leader of the group" she said.
"Steven did have to take a break as well after he found out Rachel was pregnant," Lily said looking calm.
"Johnny said he had too," Ellie said before sitting up and looking at the test, "I guess will find out," she said before they heard the entrance open.
"I got it," Lily said sitting up as she took out her gun.
"Is anyone here," a familiar male voice said.
"Wait, Jesse were over here," Dina said standing up and a few moments later Jessie and Jesse walked over to them.
"Are you all okay?" Jessie asked.
"Yeah were fine, what are you doing out here though your not scheduled for patrol," Lily said looking confused as she put away her gun.
"There was an, oh shit," Jesse said before looking at Ellie surprised.
"Ellie, is that what I think it is," Jessie said looking a little surprised at what she was holding.
"Yes but I only started to wonder about it this morning, anyway what happened," Ellie said as she put the test in her pocket.
"Chris and some of his men came by today, one of them was shot on their way to us and were looking for the person who did it," Jesse said.
"Where's Joel and Johnny," Ellie said looking at Jessie.
"Joel went out with Tommy and Philip while Johnny went out with Dean and David," she said.
"Alright that's fine, I guess we need to start searching too," said Ellie as she checked her gun.
"Fine, Lily your with me and Ellie, Dina you okay to go with Jesse," Jessie said. The two of them looked at each other before nodding at Jessie.
"Alright everyone be safe out there," she said before they all left the store.
Meanwhile in the mountain with Joels group, they were riding towards a large house where people were standing at the gate, "Shut it," the woman with them said before they shut the gate and threw Molotovs at the infected that were after them.
They opened the garage door and brought the horses in, "Where have you been," a man said walking over to the woman they had saved.
"Hey do you have any towels we can use," Tommy said as he tried to get the snow off his horse.
"Yeah sure," another member of the group said. Philip walked over to the entrance to the next room, "Do you have any idea how lucky you are," the man from before said.
"You have no idea," she said.
"Philip, you good," Joel said getting his attention.
"Yeah I'm fine," he said as Tommy and the rest of the group walked in to the next room.
"So you all from around here," Tommy said.
"No were just passing through, I'm Mel," a woman said introducing herself.
"I'm Tommy, this is Philip and my brother Joel," Tommy said introducing them, "We have a place further down the mountain, you should come by to get some supplies before heading out," he said.
Philip put his hand by his radio as he noticed the people look serious, "Whats going on," he said.
"Is there a problem," Tommy said looking confused.
"You could say that," the woman said before taking out her gun and shooting Joel in the leg.
"Joel," Tommy said before being knocked down by a gun.
Philip quickly took out his radio, "House in the mountains, we need help now," he said before being knocked out as well.
Not knowing the others had heard his call, "Philip, Philip," Johnny said looking at his radio. They were near a settlement checking things out when Johnny heard the radio go off.
"He must have found them place where the man was hiding," David said securing his coat.
"House in the mountains, oh no," Dean said getting their attention and they looked to see that he was surprised.
"Whats wrong, do you know the place," said Johnny.
"Yeah, there was storm yesterday while me and Lily were walking around, we thought we saw a light at a big place in the mountain," Dean said.
"Maria did you hear that," Johnny said speaking into the radio.
"Yeah I know the place hes talking about, hang on while I take out the map," Maria said before giving them instructions.
"Alright everyone head there," Johnny said before pulling snow goggles over his eyes.
A little later where Jessie had overheard the talk on the radio. Lily had lead them right to the place and they were climbing in through the back. "Ellie, you stay right between Lily and me got it," Jessie said looking serious.
"Yeah," Ellie said before Jessie opened the door. They noticed a light coming from the living room and walked down to see sleeping bags near the fireplace.
"Someone's been camping out here," Lily said before they heard screams of pain coming from them basement.
"Joel," Ellie said as they looked for the stairs leading to the basement. Jessie ran ahead of them before holding up her hand signaling them to stop. She then opened the door to see a woman punching Joel across the face.
"Joel," Jessie said opening the door before someone grabbed her.
"Get the fuck off her," Ellie said cutting the mans cheek.
"You little," he said pushing Ellie away and as she fell against a drawer something fell out of her pocket. The sound woke up Philip who was lying on the ground. His forehead bleeding a little.
"Whats going on here," the man who was the talking to the woman earlier said walking into the room. When Lily pushed the man away from Jessie, Philip jumped at the man and pushed him to the ground. He then pointed his gun at the mans head.
"No," Mel said.
"Stop it right now," Philip said looking at the woman.
"Shit," she said before looking to see the window behind Joel began to shake.
The glass then shattered as Johnny flew in and pushed the woman into the wall, "Oh no," a female member from the group said. A man rushed at Johnny before he was sent flying into the wall as well.
"STOP," he yelled making them all stop. He still looked angry as he noticed the injuries on Joels face.
"Abby," the man on the ground said before they heard the door being broke down. The garage was also opened as Chris's group and people from Jackson ran in.
"Joel," Jessie said rushing over to her boyfriend.
"Are you okay," he said sounding in pain.
"I'm not the one whos injured," she said smiling a little.
"It cant be," David said walking to the front of the group from Jackson.
"What are you doing here," the woman they had saved said.
"Abby, Owen," he said looking surprised at the woman and then at the man Philip had at gun point.
"David, why are you with them ?" Owen asked looking surprised to see him.
"Don't you move," Philip said pointing the gun to his head.
"Please don't kill him," Mel said.
"We saved her life and you thank us by trying to kill us," Philip said looking angry.
"Hes the reason why we don't have a cure," a woman from Abbys group said. The groups then looked confused.
"Wait are you fireflies," Chris said.
"No their WLF," Lily said noticing the Jacket on the man Ellie attacked.
"David, just who are they," Johnny said still holding his hand up.
"Owen and Abby were fireflies, they were in Salt Lake City," David said calmly.
"Now you know why I'm here, he killed my father," Abby said pointing at Joel.
"Yeah because you were going to kill Ellie," Lily said looking angry before hitting something with her foot. She looked down to see it was Ellies pregnancy test.
"That's not mine," Mel said.
"Whos is it," Joel said.
"Its Ellies," Jessie said making Johnny look surprised as Lily picked up the test.
"Ellie its positive," she said making her friend look surprised as she put a hand over her stomach.
Johnny looked shocked, "Shes pregnant," he thought before remembering the scene he flew into. Them threatening the people he cares about.
He looked angry as he took out his gun and aimed it right at Abbys head, "Johnny don't," David said running forward.
"They tried to," Johnny said sounding angry as he put his finger on the trigger.
"I know but you don't need to kill them, Ellies safe and Joel can recover," David said.
"David, I hope your not trying to look out for them," Chris said looking at Abby and Owen.
"Absolutely not, I was in disagreement with the fireflies remember," David said looking serious, "We just don't need to kill them," he said.
"I'm not going to work with them," Abby said stepping forward.
"You don't have a choice and just so were clear, Johnny doesn't need a gun to end this right now," David said.
"Abby," Owen said getting her attention, "We cant fight them, Mels pregnant remember," he said getting his groups attention.
"Is that true," a man from their group said.
"Yes," Mel said.
"Johnny, you don't have to kill them," David said.
Johnny held up his gun for a few moments before lowering it, "Get up Philip," he said.
"Alright, but I'm taking him out on the truck just to be safe, you brought them right," he said looking at Chris who nodded.
"Go ahead," Johnny said as David lead Abby out. The two of them looking angry at each other before she was brought outside.
"Here Ellie," Lily said giving her friend the test.
"Thanks," she said as David woke Tommy up and the two of them helped carry out Joel.
Everyone left until it was only Johnny and Ellie in the room, "Guess we both got a surprise these last two days huh," she said smiling a little.
Johnny put away his gun before hugging his fiancé close. "Johnny," she said.
"I'm glad your okay," he said sounding worried.
Ellie hugged him back, "Its okay now, I'm fine," she said sound relieved. The two of them then looked at each other before Johnny looked at her stomach.
"Guess were having a kid," he said smiling a little.
"Yeah looks like it," she said beforep putting his hand on her stomach, "Dont worry will be okay," she said before the two of them hugged again.
