The Assassins of Fairy Tail
Job Forty One: The Assassins Relocated
The air felt heavy and tense as Natsu and the others saw one of the strongest of the Spriggan Twelve, August, change form. The magic power they felt from him before was overwhelming enough for him, but now it had reached an unfathomable level. And to Akame, his aura felt like it wasn't even of this world. In short, all of them were terrified at the mere sight of the man known as the Calamity. All except for Brandish who seemed slightly out of it due to Mest altering her memories. "Grand...pa?"
August placed his hand toward Brandish and she immediately lost consciousness. She fell to her knees and fell to the ground which had Lucy worried and started to run towards her. "Brandish!"
August glared at Lucy and the rest of the Fairy Tail members and Natsu jumped to Lucy and held her tightly. "Lucy!"
The next thing they saw was an intensely bright light coming from August. "Dissolve into oblivion." A colossal pillar of burning light erupted from the entire area they were in and shot up into the sky. Natsu and the others screamed as they were completely enveloped by the attack. August's attack was massive enough to be even seen far away from the guild which surprised Makarov and the rest of the members. "What is this...searing light?!"
"It's coming from the east!" Wakaba cried out.
That raised some concerns from the other members since it came from the same direction where Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and Brandish were headed to meet up with August. The fact that the explosion was happening in the same place worried Alzack and Bisca. "Natsu, Lucy..."
"Happy..."
Meanwhile, at the guild's basement, Cana was still attacking Mavis's projection in hopes of freeing her real body from the lacrima. "FAIRY GLITTER!" Her attack struck Mavis once again and the first master scream as her body vanished within the bright light of the attack. When it faded, Mavis was nowhere to be found. Cana was concerned about her friend. "First Master! First Master!" She heard a loud crack and turned to the lacrima and saw that it was breaking. More cracks appeared throughout the lacrima until it completely shattered and Mavis fell to the ground. Cana immediately rushed to where the first master was and held her up carefully while being distressed about her condition. "First Master! Are you alright!? Talk to me!"
At first, there was no response but then Mavis slowly opened her eyes. She seemed weak, but finally awake from her long slumber. "It seems I'm suffering from muscular atrophy. I'm barely able to move my body." All Cana could do was smile at the first master.
B
In a far-off location, Irene and Acnologia were staring each other down. The Scarlet Despair gave her enemy a small smirk. "Well, then...shall we begin?" Acnologia stared at Irene intensely while her staff glowed brightly. Acnologia sensed something powerful was coming and struck by the side by a large, mysterious attack. His foot dug into the ground and was surprised by what the attack was. "An atmospheric enchantment?"
Irene pointed her staff at her enemy and it glowed once again. Acnologia was blasted away as well the ground surrounded him. Any ruins that were in the path were destroyed and the ground was torn asunder. He managed to finally stop and figured out who exactly what he was confronting. "The ability to bestow and affix her magic unto all things..." He smiled excitedly. "A high enchanter, eh?" Acnologia raised his arm and the ground underneath Irene began to crumble. She was struck by a large, intense pillar of magic, but managed to evade it by doing a backward flip into the air and landed on the ground safely. Even she thought it was a little too close for comfort dodging an attack like that. So far, Acnologia was impressed by his opponent. "Considering your magic is learned from the Black Wizard, it's fairly impressive. You've caught my interest."
Irene couldn't help but feel humbled she received Acnologia's praise. "Why, thank you. You're making me blush. Your power is magnificent as well. The rumors don't even do it justice. I've certainly come to understand why his Majesty fears you so. However, if and when the Fairy Heart falls into the Majesty's hands and he wields that power against you, I do indeed wonder what will happen."
Acnologia didn't seem fazed at all by Irene's words. "Are you implying that the Black Wizard would become an existence which surpasses even me?"
Irene continued to smirk at the dragon king. "I'm merely acknowledging that possibility."
And Acnologia lost interest in the subject. "If you're about to tell me to leave you humans to your devices without laying a finger on you until then, save your breath. I have no intention of listening."
Irene couldn't help but see the irony in Acnologia's words. "Oh my, I've heard through the grapevine that you were once a human as well. That being the case, your choice of words is rather strange. However, it is just as you say." She lifted her staff slightly above the ground. The last thing I want is for you to get in our way." Irene set the pointed end of her staff on the ground. "Meanwhile, his Majesty is off somewhere enjoying all of this as if it were a game. I suppose then I'll have to be the one to get his act together." She had a deviously pleased expression on her face. "So that we may bring this war to a swift conclusion." The ground immediately became a bright, white light and expanded rapidly underneath them and beyond.
Acnologia was astonished to see such a thing happening before him. "What is this? A magic unbeknownst to even me?"
"Indeed," Irene replied as her spell already reached the horizon. "The spell you're about to witness did not exist four hundred years ago. If you were to travel even further back in the annals of history, there would still be no record of it. Why you ask? This is magic of the new era."
Both were now standing in what seemed like a white void now. Acnologia quickly figured out what Irene was doing. "The earth itself...do you mean to tell me you're enchanting the entirety of the Earth?"
"You are correct," Irene replied again. "All the land of the Kingdom of Fiore, to be precise."
Acnologia looked at Irene once again and was puzzled about her true identity. "Just who exactly...are you?"
A bright light began to enshroud Irene as she gave the great Dragon King a small smirk. "I am called Irene. I do hope we'll meet again someday, O great Acnologia." The light enveloped both of them and extended to the rest of the kingdom.
In Northern Fiore, Levy and Lily were still crying over the loss of Gajeel when Lily was the first to notice the bright light. Soon, everyone in Sabretooth, Blue Pegasus, and Crime Sorcière saw the light and were curious as to what it was or what it meant. At the same time in Hargeon, Gray, Juvia, and Leone were about to head back to the guild when they saw the bright light as well. The light quickly enveloped everyone in Hargeon. It was the same back at the guild and everywhere else in Fiore. Zeref was in shock as to what was really happening. "Irene...don't tell me...you actually used that magic?
Soon, the entire kingdom of Fiore and its people was cast into a world of bright light that could be seen from the stars above. "World Reconstruction Magic: Universe One!"

"Zera...don't go, Zera. You can't...don't...don't leave me alone!"
"But you're not alone now, are you?"
"NOOOO! I just want to be together with you forever, Zera!"
"Mavis...do you know where fairies live?"
"...Within...my heart."
"Then, what about me? This isn't goodbye."

Mavis woke up from having a very familiar dream and found herself still in the basement of the guild, now in ruins. She quickly noticed it was just her alone in the room and Cana was nowhere to be seen. "Cana! Cana, where are you?!" With some effort, Mavis managed to stand up and was able to walk despite being trapped in the Lacrima for over one hundred years, though with some difficulty. "Ugh, my body still won't move the way I want it to." As she approached the doorway, Mavis called out for Cana again and yet still no response. She snapped her fingers and was now wearing a dress, much to her relief. "Alright...at least I'm able to use magic." She began climbing up the stairs while hugging the wall. "Although, these clothes are merely an illusion." The first master managed to reach the guild floor where it also messy and empty. Seeing such a sight worried her. "No one's here. The guild is completely empty." She walked through the guildhall and found the silence and emptiness ominous while wondering what happened with the bright light she and Cana had seen before. "The whole area was enveloped by a brilliant light just now. What exactly was that?" Her expression changed to a serious one when she felt a familiar, and powerful magic and turned to the side to see none other than Zeref sitting on a chair smiling at her. Mavis was surprised to see him so soon and within her own guild as well. "Zeref?"
Compared to Zeref, he just smiled at his former lover. "Mavis..."
If what happened before was all of Zeref's doing, Mavis became drastically worried about what happened to the other guild members. "What happened to everyone!? You couldn't have...!"
"No, this wasn't my handiwork." Zeref calmly replied. "To be honest with you, this entire situation has me rather perplexed as well."
While Mavis was glad nothing had happened to her guild, she still glared at Zeref. "What business do you have here?"
Zeref continued to smile at Mavis. "What business do you have being alive?"
B
In another location within a twisted forest, a familiar scream could be heard throughout the area. "What the hell just happened!? Better yet, where the hell are we?!"
"You're right on top of me, actually."
Natsu looked down and sure enough, he was on top of Lucy. Accidently groping her breasts and all with Happy lying next to her in his normal size. "Lucy, Happy!"
Lucy tried to recollect what happened to them recently. "Last thing I remember, we were all struck by August's magic. And feel free to stop groping me." She muttered that last part.
Whether he heard her or not, Natsu did just that and grinned confidently at her. "Ah, that big explosion? Yeah, I negated it, to some extent. Good thing it was heat-type magic."
It certainly explained why they were almost unscathed by August's attack. "Oh, so you negated it, huh? Feel free to stop mounting me." Lucy muttered that last part.
They heard a small noise near them and saw Akame lying on the ground before pushing herself off the ground. "What exactly hit us?" She groaned again as she put her hand on her forehead in an attempt to stop her headache.
"Akame!"
Akame opened her eyes and saw Natsu and Lucy with Natsu on top of Lucy for some reason. "You guys..."
After several minutes, all four were standing and looked around their new surroundings. Happy was the first question where they currently were. "I guess the question now is, why and how did we end up in a place like this?"
Natsu took a few sniffs to see if anyone else was around. "I can't get a whiff of either Mest's or Brandish's scents. Not to mention, I can't feel August's presence at all."
Akame could attest to that. "I can't feel their auras either so they must be in another location far from us."
Natsu turned his attention to Akame and narrowed his eyes at her. Akame caught this and felt a little uneasy at the way the fire dragon slayer was looking at her. "What is it?"
Natsu continued to leer at her. "Earlier before August used his magic on us, you said something to Mest. What was that all about?"
Akame closed her eyes and sighed before opening them again and looked directly at Natsu. "Mest approached me and wanted me to come along because he was still uneasy about all of you meeting with August. Honestly, I was curious myself how it would go and wanted to see for myself. I did notice he had something else planned, but I didn't know he'd do such a drastic action. If I knew Mest would resort to such a thing, I would've stopped him myself." Akame was still getting used to resolving things without killing. If negotiations with August had gone well, then August would at least would've become a neutral party instead of an enemy.
Natsu's expression relaxed a little as it seemed he accepted Akame's answer. Now there was only one question left and Lucy asked it for all of them. "What exactly transpired during all that chaos?"
B
"Leone!"
"Leone! Where are you!"
In a deserted rocky area, Gray and Juvia were standing on top of a rock pillar, shouting Leone's name since she was missing from her group. Gray still didn't know what happened to Leone or what happened to them. "First, the sky starts to light up, then the entire landscape changed, and now we don't know where Leone went."
Juvia was a little worried about what happened to Leone. "It's strange we haven't heard from her yet. Juvia would think Leone would've answered us by now since she's still in her beast form."
That much was true. Gray sighed and was still resolved to find their missing teammate. "Let's keep looking. Like you said, Leone's still gotta be in her beast form, so she's bound to hear us. Either that or notice our scents." Juvia turned to her beloved and nodded at him.
B
Meanwhile, Makarov and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild found themselves at an unknown beach were just as confused. "Where exactly are we?"
"Outside?! How did we get outdoors all of a sudden?!"
"More importantly, where the hell is this!?"
"What's going on!?"
"A lot of our guildmates aren't here!"
Cana quickly noticed that someone else important wasn't with them. "What about the First Master?! Has anyone seen her?"
Warren checked his monitor while Max was looking over his shoulder. "What the hell? This can't be right."
"Whatever, just work your magic and calculate our current location!"
They weren't the only ones who found themselves in a strange location. Mirajane and Lisanna were also with the rest of the guild. Jet and Droy were puzzled as to why and how they ended up with them. "Mira...Lisanna...?
"Weren't the two of you up north?"
Mira and Lisanna shared their confusion. "The sky started shining, and all of sudden..."
Makarov approached them and understood. "The same thing happened to us."
Lisanna looked around and noticed Chelsea wasn't with her. "Where did Chelsea go? Does anybody know? She was just with me."
"It's the enemy! There's a huge army right nearby!" Everyone heard Alzack's warning. He checked through his telescope and had more bad news to say. "They're heading straight for us!"
Everyone felt like they weren't ready to fight against Alverez's army. Mirajane turned to Makarov. "Master..."
Makarov's eyes darkened and gave a serious expression. "Prepare for battle."
Everyone in the guild rallied excitedly except for Warren. He had a look of disbelief when he found out what happened not only to them but what happened to the entire kingdom. "Fiore's geography...it's completely different!"
B
Chelsea groaned as she started to come around. "What the hell just happened now? The last thing I remember was seeing some weird light in the sky." She tried to push herself off of whatever it was she was on and grabbed onto something very plush and soft. Chelsea opened her eyes and quickly gasped in surprise as to what was on and what she was grabbing. She apparently found herself on top of an unconscious Leone and her hands were on Leone's breasts. That seemed to stir Leone to wake up and open her eyes. Both girls stared at each other for several seconds before screaming and Chelsea got of Leone and both sat on the ground. After their initial shock was over, they now became confused as to how they were seeing each other. "Leone/Chelsea!? I thought you were at the south/north?!"
Chelsea took the initiative and asked first. "Hey, you wouldn't have to happen to see some weird light before blacking out, right?"
To her surprise, Leone nodded. "Yeah, I did. Me, Gray, and Juvia were about to head back to the guild when we saw this light shining. The next thing I knew, I found you on top of me and grabbing my chest." Chelsea couldn't help but blush slightly at her accidental reaction. "What about you? What were you doing before that weird light appeared?"
Chelsea stood up and Leone quickly followed. "I was with Lisanna before that light came." Speaking of Lisanna, Chelsea noticed she wasn't around her anymore. "Where is Lisanna, anyway? Where the hell did we end up?"
"Uh, Chelsea?" Chelsea looked at Leone she was staring at something.
She looked in the same direction as the other girl and her eyes widened with shock. Both of them saw a very familiar ruined site. "No way, is that the Other Gateway? How the hell did we get here?" Chelsea looked up and saw that it was still night outside. "Also, wasn't this in a cave? Why are we seeing the sky?"
Leone wondered the same thing and turned around. When she did, she saw a very unexpected sight. "Hey, there didn't use to be a giant coliseum near the Other Gateway, right?"
Chelsea turned to Leone again. "I'm pretty sure we would've noticed the first time. Why?" She once again looked in the direction Leone was looking and sure enough, there was a giant coliseum, the Domus Flau, not that far from where the Other Gateway was. Now Chelsea was further confused. "Okay, what the hell is going on!?"
Upon looking at the Domus Flau, Leone came up with an idea. "Come on. If we head up to the top of one of those giant statues, we can get a better look at the land. I can carry you if you want."
As appealing as the idea sounded, Chelsea wasn't a fan of being carried. Especially if Leone has one of her arms in a sling for some reason. Thankfully, she had a plan B. "Tell you what; how about I do this instead." She looked at the top of one of the mountains intensely.
Leone tilted her head to the side and had a confused expression. "What are you-" Both of them disappeared and then quickly reappeared on top of one of the statues head. "talking abou-WHAT THE HELL?!" It took a second for Leone to register where they were now. She turned her attention back to Chelsea. "How did you-" The blonde then remembered what her teammate could do. "Oh, right. Your Mimic magic. That was Mest's, right?"
Chelsea chuckled a little at Leone's question. "Yep. Now, let's see what's going on here."
Both girls approached the to end and surveyed the whole area. The first startling discovery was that not only the Other Gateway wasn't in a cave, but it also wasn't on the island in the middle of the lake. The second detail they noticed was the entire landscape looked completely different. Seeing this bothered Leone to no end. "What the hell did that light end up doing? Everything around here looks so different now.
Chelsea shared Leone's concerns. "Not to mention we're all separated from everyone else." The scarier question to Chelsea was who could pull off such a feat? Meanwhile, Leone was greatly worried about Wendy. If she was separated from Gray and Juvia and Chelsea was separated from Lisanna, then she guessed the same must've happened to Wendy as well. And in her condition right now... "Hey..." Leone's train of thought was interrupted and looked over at Chelsea. "Just what did happen to your arm? Also, you said you were with Gray and Juvia, but not the others. What exactly happened to you and everyone back at Hargeon?"
Leone sighed heavily and turned away from Chelsea. "A lot of stuff happened, let's just say that. Laxus and Erza were hurt pretty bad, but Wendy..." She closed her hand tightly and it trembled. The other girl noticed something was bothering Leone a great deal. "I'm not going to sugarcoat it. After we took back Hargeon, I saw what happened to Wendy. It's bad, Chelsea. She's in a worse shape than when we found her at the end of our war against the Empire."
Chelsea found herself in disbelief upon hearing what Leone had told her. It was almost unbelievable to her. "You're...kidding, right? I mean last time it was because her magic had almost run out. How did she end up worse than that?"
Leone just lowered her head and stared at the ground. "From what Kagura told me, Wendy suffered the worst out of all us because it looked like every injury she had come back to her, her scar reopening and all. Wendy's a tough girl, one of the toughest people I know, but even I know taking on that much damage would be too much for one person. Because of that, Wendy...might..." She couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence.
A dreadful feeling came over Chelsea. To hear what happened to Wendy, and what may happen to her was almost incomprehensible to her. Of course, there was one other person she thought of that may have taken this even harder. "What about Chelia? Couldn't she heal Wendy?"
The other couldn't help but chuckle a little. "I'm afraid...that wasn't possible. For some reason, Chelia lost her magic completely. Not only that, she's completely devastated over what happened to Wendy, saying that it was all her fault."
Chelsea became further confused. Just how did Chelia manage to lose her magic in the first place? It's not like she could ask her now since they didn't even know where they were. She didn't know what to do with the information Leone had told her and frankly, she hated it. Chelsea hated the thought of Wendy dying. The concept seemed completely foreign to her, and yet, she knew Leone was serious about it. Chelsea felt like she should do something, but knew she couldn't do anything. Both of them couldn't in their current situation. They couldn't do one thing at all. Not even hope.

When Carla came to, she quickly found out she was in a large, grassy area of an unknown location. It took her several seconds to process what had happened to her recently. "What happened? The last thing I remember was..." She gasped and her eyes widened with worry. "Where's Wendy? I was with Wendy when that bright light appeared!" Carla surveyed the area and saw a figure laying on the ground not far from where she was. Carla summoned her wings and flew over to where the figure was. When she was close, the Exceed saw it was and landed next to her. "Erza!" Carla closely inspected the still unconscious Erza. "It seems Erza's condition hasn't changed. I suppose that's a good thing." While Carla was glad she found Erza, she still didn't know where Wendy was. She looked around the area again and saw another figure lying on the ground near Erza's location. This time Carla was able to see who it was and her worry increased. "Wendy!"
Carla quickly flew over to where was and landed near the young dragon slayer. Her breathing became quick as she frantically looked over Wendy. Wendy's face appeared to be paler than usual and her lips had become blue. Carla transformed into her human form and tilted Wendy's head back and placed her ear near Wendy's face. After checking for several seconds, Carla gasped in fear.Carla removed herself from Wendy's chest and she placed both hands on Wendy's chest on top of another intertwining and began to perform chest compression. "Wendy, Wendy, please no!" She continued to do chest compressions and hoped she could still save her friend. While doing so, Carla suspected that the light they saw before is what caused this. Wendy's life was already hanging by a thin thread back at the infirmary. Having being transported suddenly to another location must've made her condition worse. Carla kept doing chest compressions but saw no improvement or change. Tears began to form and started to roll down her cheeks. "You can't, Wendy! You can't leave me! You can't leave all of us! We all need you! You can't die!" Carla closed her eyes tightly "WEEEENDY!" Her cry echoed throughout the night sky and silence remained.
And it continued to remain until a soft chime rang. Carla seemed to be still as if time had stopped. Appearing and approaching them seemed to be a woman who had an ethereal aura to her and a mysterious glow around her body. Each step she took was silent and left no imprint as she walked. The woman stopped in front of the crying Carla and Wendy. She was solely focused on Wendy and gave the young dragon slayer a small, soft smile.
B
Brandish and August found themselves in a different location and was sitting underneath a tall, twisted tree. Brandish managed to minimize the wound she gave the other Spriggan Twelve member when Mest altered her memories. "You'll be alright now. I've shrunk your wound to a negligible size." August didn't say anything and gave a soft grunt. Brandish was curious as to what had happened to them? "What did you do, August?"
August already knew what had transpired upon them and probably everyone else. "This was not my doing. It's Irene's Compression Magic."
Brandish had a confused look on her. "Compression Magic?"
August nodded in confirmation. "She enchanted the entire nation with her magic and changed it's very shape. And as a result, the people of Fiore were rearranged atop this newly modified geography. Randomly at that. These were the side effects of her effort to rearrange a particular person to a particular place."
Even to Brandish, what Irene had done was a feat nothing more than incredible, and was puzzled by it. "I don't believe it. What could she gain possibly gain stand to by doing this?
August had a theory that could answer her question. "In all likelihood, her aim was to send his Majesty as close to Fairy Heart as possible and Acnologia far in the distance."
Now Brandish understood the reason behind Irene's action and what her motive was. "In other words, her aim is to bring this war to an abrupt end."
B
Back at the Fairy Tail guild, Zeref stood up from his chair and explained what had happened to Mavis. "So, you're saying that all the people within the kingdom were split up and sent randomly to various places?"
"Of course. The same goes for my allies as well." He started walking toward Mavis. "And that's not all. The overall landscape of Fiore has grown smaller. I'd estimate about one-twentieth of its former size. Perhaps less."
Mavis already knew what the purpose of doing that was. "For the sake of increasing the encounter rate between Fairy Tail and the Alvarez Empire?"
"Correct. I'd wager that's her aim. In her own way, Irene is trying to end this war while it's still in the early stages." Zeref stopped walking and stood in front of Mavis looking down at her while smiling. "And thanks to her efforts, here I stand. Which I seek, Fairy Heart is right before my very eyes."
B
Irene sat down on a very large stone chair and breathed a sigh of relief. "It may have been my first attempt at using this magic, but it appears the end results were quite favorable." She crossed her legs to be more comfortable. "At the very least, his Majesty is now on Fairy Tail's doorstop and Acnologia is probably floating around in the ocean somewhere right about now. Now then, in truth, not even I know where I ended up, but this is quite the place you have here. Having said that, where is this?" What Irene was sitting in was nothing more than the throne chair belonging to the king of Fiore and had the Royal Army and the Garou Knights standing right in front of her.
The king himself, Toma E. Fiore, Princess Hisui, and Arcadios were also present. Arcadios asked the question all of them were wondering. "Just...who are you?"
B
Just outside, Happy saw a surprising sight before him and the others. "Look at this!"
Natsu, Lucy, and Akame saw what was ahead and Lucy became immediately confused. "Kardia Cathedral and... Mercurius?"
"Were they always this close together?" Natsu wondered.
Meanwhile, Akame had a shocked expression and fear was present in her eyes. "It can't be...there's no way. How is there an aura that's just as powerful as August's?"
B
In a remote location, Gajeel was lying on a shore with a forest overlooking the ocean. The iron dragon slayer coughed as he regained consciousness and stood up. He noticed where he was now and was clearly confused in more ways than one. "Where the hell am I? Last I checked, I was...dea-" He quickly noticed something and looked over at the forest and saw a ghostly mist. Gajeel merely scoffed at whatever it was he was seeing. "So, what are you supposed to be? A fellow resident of hell?" He heard something from the specter but couldn't make it out. "Huh? Who the hell are you?"
Gajeel saw the specter finally taking shape. It had taken the form of a young girl around Mavis's age with long brown hair put in pigtails and smiled at him. "I am Zera. One of the Fairies of Origin."
