Part 21: Old threat
Without thinking Johnny flew at the assistant who looked shocked as the couch Isaac was sitting on fell over with him on it. Johnny pulled out his sword and held it up against his neck, "Your dead," he said angrily when someone shot the ground near him.
"Don't move," Isaac said aiming his gun at Johnny.
"Quick shoot him, hes dangerous," the assistant said as Johnny held the blade to his neck.
"He wont be able to," he said looking at Isaac when he saw Tommy aimed his gun at him.
"Don't even think about it," Tommy said before Owen pointed his gun at him.
"Drop it, we bring you here and now you turn your back on us," he said before he felt a gun at the back of his head.
"Lower the gun Owen," Abby said calmly.
"Your with them," Owen said calmly.
"All that I know is from the short time ive known him, he only gets that angry when someone he cares about are threatened," Abby said putting down her gun, "So Johnny how do you know the good doctor,".
"Abby," the assistant said.
"Hes was the doctors assistant back in the bunker, he stood with them when they shot my mother right in front of me," Johnny said now looking back at him.
"We were going to make things better and you killed them all," the assistant said looking annoyed.
"Yeah because you were going to kill me," Johnny said holding the blade closer to his throat.
"Enough," Isaac said, "Now I'm sorry for your loss, but do you really want to make this your first impression," he said.
"Johnny," Tommy said putting a hand on his shoulder, "Come on, hes not the one in charge here,".
Johnny gripped the handle of his sword before quickly standing up and sitting on the couch, "Nice to see you again Tommy," the assistant said before he was punched across the face. He brought his hand to his nose and saw it was bleeding.
"Now we can talk," Tommy said before sitting down next to Johnny.
"So he found you huh," the assistant said helping Isaac put the couch back as the guards walked in.
"Everything's alright here now, right," Isaac said looking at Johnny who nodded. The guards nodded before closing the door.
"Alright, so where do you two come from," Isaac said as he and the assistant sat down across from them.
"Were from a larger group in Jackson, but were allied with a few others, one even back in Boston," Tommy said as Johnny put his sword away but kept his hand near the handle.
"Boston huh, last I heard the military were watching the people there, did you kill them," Isaac said.
"A resistance had started because the people were suffering, we helped end things," Tommy said.
"So whos running the place now," Owen said standing between the couches.
"A friend of mine, he was leading the resistance," Tommy said.
"Isaac, they brought a cure for the infection with them," Abby said, "We brought some back with us to give to people," she said.
"A cure, that's impossible," the assistant said.
"We found a safe way to make one thanks to the doctors journal, we made a cure from some of the notes without giving them Johnnys power," Tommy said making him look surprised.
"The journal, but he kept it locked away in the safe," he said.
"I went back for it," Johnny said looking serious, "Since I got more then immunity I thought there would be part of the serum that could be used as a cure and I was right,".
"Does the name David ring a bell," Tommy said.
"Yeah, he left the bunker when we were getting better results," the assistant said.
"That before or after you had an infected bite Johnnys arm," Tommy said looking annoyed.
"Now hold on a minute, sure hes done some bad things but hes helped us here," Isaac said.
"Isaac with all due respect those injections are getting us killed," Abby said looking annoyed.
"Abby not now," Owen said.
"No you were with me when someone got shot, they would have been fine without it," Abby said looking angry.
"Those shots have kept us alive and most of our enemy's are sticking to their island," the assistant said.
"There would have been more of us if there wasnt those side effects," Abby said making Johnny look confused.
"Is she talking about the injections we saw below," he thought wondering what was in those syringes.
"Now why are you here," Isaac said getting his attention.
"We just want peace between our groups, no problems," Tommy said.
"I'd very much like to see the journal," the assistant said calmly.
"Well your never getting your hands on it," Johnny said looking serious while the assistant looked annoyed.
"I'm okay with that," Tommy said.
"Well that's fine since we have a cure now," Isaac said.
"We didn't come alone, so we can help you out with the people your up against," Tommy said.
"Thanks that would be a great help, Ill have some of my men set up you in a base later on," Isaac said standing up, "Like the doctor said a lot of them are sticking to the island these days, we place to launch an attack soon to end this once and for all,".
"Thanks will let our people know," Tommy said as he and Johnny stood back up.
"You can head back down for now, will let you know if something comes up," Isaac said, "Take them to the shooting range, might help him," he said looking at Johnny.
"Sure, I could do with firing off some rounds myself," Abby said as they started walking out.
"Isaac I need that Jorunal, it could make the serum better," the assistant said.
"Hey," Johnny said taking out his gun and aiming it at the assistant, "You are never getting your hands on that journal and that's final," he said before walking out.
"This isn't over," the assistant thought.
Down below in front of the building. Johnny was shooting targets with his pistol and got all headshots, "Not bad," Abby said. Tommy had gone off to check on Chris.
"Thanks," Johnny said before noticing she was looking around the area, "You waiting for someone," he said before shooting the target in the chest.
"No its just, a friend of mine had to stay behind when I went to Jackson, I haven't heard a word about him since we got back," Abby said.
"Sorry about that," Johnny said before loading another round into his pistol, "Can I ask whats going on with that guys serum," he said.
"Its suppose to give everyone a strength boost, even saw a few people jump higher then usual," Abby said.
"Like flying," Johnny said looking confused.
"Yeah but when they landed they would be holding their head, like they were having a headache," Abby said.
"The people you said who died from the serum, you saw someone die," Johnny said and Abby nodded, "I'm sorry,".
"It did help people fight better, a lot of the enemy uses arrows so we need to be quick," Abby said.
"How long till they get the headaches," Johnny said as he held up his pistol.
"Almost a few day after being injected," Abby said making Johnny look surprised as he lowered the pistol. Remembering when he started getting the injections the first thing he got were headaches.
"You said side effects, is one of the others nosebleeds," Johnny said getting Abbys attention. But before she could say anything Steven walked over with Lily and Dean.
"Hey Tommy told us to come over to check on you," Steven said.
"Who knew you would run into someone else," Lily said.
"Chris is going to make a full recovery," Dean said.
"That's good to hear," Johnny said before a man rushed over to him.
"You," Lily said recognizing the man from when they met Abbys group outside Jackson.
"Hey were allies now remember, listen some men were attacked at an outpost," he said.
"You want us to go with you to help?" Steven asked.
"Isaacs asking for Johnny, saying this could help us get along better," he said.
"Alright then," Johnny said.
"Were going too," Lily said walking forward with Dean and Steven.
"Give me a few minutes and ill come along," Abby said.
"No you can stay, I got some people ready to go with me anyway," he said.
A few minutes later Johnnys group along with the man and people from the WLF left the building. As they drove through the city the man spoke up, "So that power must come in handy huh," he said. He was sitting in the front with Steven and Johnny. Johnny was more focused on looking out the window.
"Yeah it does come in handy that he can fly," Steven said.
"Sounds nice," the man said.
"Yeah but I had to go through a lot of pain to get it," Johnny said before they stopped in front of a small building.
"Alright lets split up, will find our people much faster that way," the man said.
"Alright, Lily and Dean keep an eye out, Steven with me," Johnny said taking out his pistol.
"Got it," he said before they opened the door. Then they saw a large hole in the wall ahead of them to the right when gas grenades were thrown in.
"What is this stuff," Lily said before she started coughing.
"Lily," Dean said before Johnny heard the two of them fall to the ground.
"What are you doing," Steven said as Johnny turned around to see him knocked to the ground as well.
"You shouldnt have trusrted us," the man said getting Johnnys attention. He turned just in time to see him wearing a gas mask before hitting him in the face with an assault rifle. Knocking him out.
