Part 22: Allie or enemy
As Johnnys eyes opened he could see desks and hear a female voice saying, "Stop it,". He saw broken windows and there was a large desk in front of him. He saw Steven to his left and they were both tied to the same desk. Lily was tied to a pillar nearby and looked worried.
"Where is it," he could hear the man who knocked him out say. He then looked to see him punch Dean across the face. One of his eyes looked bruised and his nose was bleeding.
"Let him go he doesn't know where it is," Stephen said angry.
"Not until I know where he put it," the man said.
"HE SAID STOP," Johnny yelled looking angry getting his attention.
"Johnny," Dean said.
"Shut up, or else a bullets next," the man said before standing in front of Johnny, "These three cant be helped, overheard they were all part of your team long with Darren,".
"Hes after the doctors journal," Steven said.
"The doctor put you up to this didn't he," Johnny said.
"Hey whatever helps makes us stronger and we don't need you alive, just your brain," he said, "He told me we would be better and make the serum faster,".
"It doesnt work like that, it took years for me to get where iam today and I could have died from it," Johnny said befroe the man punched him across the face.
"You don't get to talk, not after you stopped the fireflies from making the cure," the man said.
"That would have killed my friend," Lily said.
"We've lost so much to the infected and we could have dealt with it for good," he said.
"But at what cost," Johnny said, "Even after we made the cure we still had to fight people, just like what happened in Boston,".
"Well your people are better off with us," the man said, "Accept for the smuggler,".
"You monster," Stephen said.
"Ive seen people like you," Dean said looking up, "You just want that power so you can rule over everyone else,".
"Like the doctor said, it will make us all better," the man said and when he moved Johnny noticed his sword in its sheathe next to the door.
"Don't worry, will tell your wife you died protecting us from infected," the man said, "You all went out with him like a team,".
"Your gonna pay for this," Steven said struggling with the rope.
"Hey," Johnny said getting his attention, "Theres probably one thing the doctor didn't know," he said as he made the sword fly out of its sheathe.
"I never stopped practicing even after I left the bunker," he said before making the sword stab the man in the back. The man screamed in pain as Johnny lifted him up, turned him around and pushed him into the wall.
"Whoa," Lily said as the sword came out the mans back and flew behind Johnny as he began to cut himself free.
"Whats going on here," a man said running into the room. Johnny looked at him and sent him flying down the hallway.
"Come on," he thought before he was finally cut free and he put the sword in his right hand. He then ran to the door as Steven called out to him. He then saw a large group along with the other man heading towards him.
"Hold it," one of them said aiming his gun at Johnny.
"No," Johnny said clenching his right fist as he broke all their necks. All their bodies fell to the ground as Johnny took a breath. Johnny then walked back inside as he cut the others free.
"Ive been through worse," Dean said smiling a little as Johnny finished cutting him free.
"You did well hanging in there," Lily said smiling before kissing him on the lips.
"Johnny we better make sure the rest of the building is clear," Steven said.
"Right," Johnny said as he cleaned his sword before heading to the classroom exit.
"Guys wait, I woke up when we were on our way here and saw them put our gear in the room next door," Lily said as she helped Dean up.
"Alright lets meet up there," Johnny said before he and Steven left the room. They only found a few of them on the roof and like the others they tried to kill them. They took them out before heading to meet with Lily and Dean.
When they walked in they saw Dean with a bandage on his face while Lily was looking in her backpack, "Your not going to like this," he said holding up a broken radio.
"Please tell me those aren't ours," Steven said looking at the broken ones on the table.
"Well I guess they thought I wouldn't be carrying one," Lily said looking relieved as she took hers out.
"Guess it's a good thing Derek gave us all one back in Boston," Steven said as Lily gave it to Johnny who turned it on.
"This is Johnny, anyone there," Johnny said, "Tommy, Chris, Leo please respond,".
"Johnny your alive, what happened," Leo said.
"Leo did something happen?" Johnny asked looking worried.
"The guy in charge, Isaac he sent us off to a new base but we were attacked by the ones who hit us earlier on the way there," Leo said.
"Was anyone hurt," Steven said.
"Nothing serious, but I cant say the same about the rest," Leo said.
"What do you mean," Johnny said.
"We were all separated, Tommy took off with the people from your town and Chris was taken with his group, we had to get out of there," Leo said, "I'm sorry,".
"No its not your fault, I'm just glad your alright," Johnny said putting his face in his hand. Hoping Tommy and the others were still alive.
"Have your heard from anyone besides us," Steven said.
"No, were all scattered and we've already seen some infected," Leo said, "But theres something we didn't know about before coming into the city,".
"That their doctor is crazy," Lily said.
"What was that," Leo said sounding confused.
"I got it," Johnny said before explaining why they were knocked out.
"We come to help them and then they treat us like this," Leo said angrily.
"They cant be trusted anymore," Lily said looking at Dean.
"Maybe not some of them," Steven said getting their attention. "David trusted Mel to look after the cure and Abby wasn't looking angry at Johnny before we left,".
"Well other then that, turns out theres a third faction here in Seattle," Leo said making them looking surprised. But before they could say anything else, someone else spoke on the radio.
"Leo theres more of them coming," the man said.
"Damnit, listen we know the area they are in but we all should meet up first," Leo said, "Theres an old movie theatre, lets meet there," he said before the radio stopped.
"What should we do if we run into the WLF," Lily said.
"Johnny," Steven said looking at their team leader.
"They try to kill us we fight back, for now we need to focus on getting everyone together," Johnny said as he put his backpack on, "After that, will all think of something,".
"Sounds good to me," Steven said before they all left the school.
After walking past a living area they were walking past stores when they heard infected. Johnny pointed to Steven and Lily to stay outside. Johnny snuck up behind one and stabbed it in the neck. Steven shot one with his pistol and they saw one outside.
Johnny shot at it when they heard voices, "Who's there," a female voice said.
Johnny signalled Steven to follow him, "Stop right there," a male voice said.
"Alright were stopping," Lily said.
Johnny and Steven walked outside to see WLF soldiers aiming their weapons at Lily and Dean.
"Don't even think about it," Johnny said taking out his pistol and Steven doing the same.
"Oh shit," the woman who spoke up first said.
"JOHNNY," a male voice yelled. Johnny looked to see Darren and Abby running up the road.
"Whats going on here," Abby said noticing they were pointing guns at each other.
"Abby they killed some of ours," the woman said.
"What is she talking about," Abby said looking at Johnny.
"The doctors after my power, he tricked us so he could find out where the journal is," Johnny said not lowering his pistol.
"My face should be proof enough," Dean said.
"You betrayed us," Darren said looking angry as he took out an assault rifle.
"Hold on," Abby said.
"They cant be trusted Abby, that journal could finally help us clear this city," the woman said making Abby look confused.
"The doctor told you about it," she said.
"Why should he be the only one with powers," one of the men said.
"We came here to help you," Steven said.
"Shut up," the woman said.
"Drop it now," Abby said before she watched Johnny lower his pistol.
"What are you doing?" Steven asked looking annoyed.
"Abby that serum could cause worse effects then the injections, I know because I took that serum for a long time," said Johnny, "Even a doctor said I was lucky to survive and that's why I put the journal in good hands because I didnt want anyone else to go through the same pain I did,".
Abby looked calm and seemed to be thinking before the woman spoke up, "Well he did say we didn't need you alive," she said before aiming her gun at Johnny.
"No," his team members said before someone fired. They then looked surprised to see it was Abby who shot the woman in the head. Johnny quickly took out his pistol as his team took out the rest.
"Why did you trust us," Lily said as everyone reloaded.
"I never trusted that maniac, we should probably meet up with the rest of your group," Abby said.
"Your coming with us," Dean said.
"Isaac trusts him more then anyone, but luckily Mel agreed with me on how bad those injections are," she said, "So theres still some poeple we can trust in this city,".
"Our group got scattered and were meeting up with some of them at a movie theatre," Steven said.
"I know a quick way there through the subway, better make sure your clips are full because I heard theres a lot of infected there," Abby said.
"Abby," Johnny said getting her attention, "Thank you, I know it mustn't have been easy to fight people you once trusted,".
"Thanks, lets make sure you can get home to your wife," Abby said.
"Sounds good," Johnny said, "Alright everyone lets go," he said looking at his team.
"Right," they said.
"Oh wait hang on, Abby Leo told us about a third group in Seattle, you know anything about them," Steven said making her look confused.
"No, they must have formed during the time I was in Jackson," Abby said as they headed to the subway.
