Hello and welcome back to another chapter. After the last chapter, I wanted to treat this chapter with care as it is the build up for the past two chapters and hence why it was a bit longer to release. Now there isn't much to say other than thanks to everyone that has been supporting the story, definitely didn't expect to get this kind of support but I'll keep at it and continue to improve as I go. Having said that, let's go to some reviews
LegendaryMob: An you would be right, however keep in mind that Divine Protections and Quirks are treated differently in the two worlds, in MHA Quirks are talked about without her problem and in Re: Zero Divine Protections are more personal and not often shared out in the open hence why Ram would be more reluctant as these are two strangers with one asking them what do their Divine Protections do. However, I do agree in that he shouldn't have said his weaknesses hence why I slightly altered what he said. Also they are in another world, one where they are already suspicious so any more suspicious actions will definitely cause more trouble for Izuku and Eri hence why Izuku was honest about Quirks and why his Quirk kept breaking his body as he would be ask that regardless. Also yes Izuku will adapt caution as up to this point all he needed to worry was protecting Eri and figure out where he was as aside from Ram holding him over a cliff and asking questions before pulling him up, he didn't need to be vary as he and Eri were cared for with nothing putting him on alert until Roswaal grew too invested in Eri's Quirk. I won't dumb down Izuku for the plot we've seen him be smart enough to deduce situations.
Peigukiin: Yeah honestly that was probably the hardest part to write so I am glad you enjoyed it. Also yeah some grammar occurs here and there which I often times overlook by accident due to how I often write at night when I feel the most creative. That and despite grammarly supposedly helping, I often read it afterward just to make sure there isn't grammar issues in the chapters though sometimes they slip in when I don't expect them to. Also night.
ProjectIceman: Honestly I'm surprised as well. Originally this was an idea I started to have in the back of my head when I was rewatching Season 4 and reading the light novels for Re:Zero. I didn't put much thought into it originally as I was working on another story but little by little the idea started to grow as one day I took a break from my story and started developing that idea into this story.
Marko3: Thank you for enjoying it and well guess I did mission accomplish.
Virgomiguel1992: I wanted to avoid just Izuku replacing Subaru and having return by death as it feels like it's an idea that's been done to death in other crossovers and felt like I would just be repeating the story of Re:Zero if I did so. Hence why I tried doing something different so as it not just tread common ground but also have more creative freedom and not just be restricted to Izuku being in Subaru's spot.
NarutoisNumber1Ninja: Glad you enjoyed it. It's a way for how Ram gets involved with Eri and Izuku. Oh you got your wish. Thank you once again.
Anonymous: Yeah she wouldn't, especially when she learns what Overhaul's capable of. Yeah you're right on Roswaal, he isn't a monster but rather obsessed in bringing back Echidna and so when he sees a golden opportunity in Eri then he would find a way to get her to finally accomplish his goal. As for reviving Echidna, there is that change especially since Eri's Quirk is still a mystery as to how much it can do. Yeah Todoroki just being a theory nut, I don't know why but that makes me laugh. You're right on Ram, when Gluttony ate Rem's existence, Roswaal was her support column but with this being pre, her stockhome syndrome isn't as severe so when she finally starts seeing care and support from our green cinnamon roll, she'll feel connected to him and Eri. As for your question of Shigaraki, well seeing as how after he got A.F.O and was able to destroy an entire hospital in a moments notice, you can say that he could very much be a massive threat, probably at an Archbishop level of threat since that was Shigaraki at 70%. I won't say much else since I don't want to say more of the future plans.
Taromaru: Yes Roswaal asking Ram is a way to get her involved in Izuku and Eri's life as Ram would follow Roswaal's ever wish as his maid. So what happens when her duty as her masters maid and her own personal feelings begin to clash since now she has a small family that gave her a greater meaning. There could be but I won't say much as it'll just unravel too many spoilers but Ram's relationship with Izuku and Eri will grow and seeing her and Izuku care for Eri will be fun especially once Subaru and Frederica start to catch on. As for how they got there, it may be a witch or something else entirely, just know that there is something occurring but as to who or how they were brought I'll keep under wraps. As for Subaru's gate, he won't break it like how he did to the point where it's pretty much useless but he will have to learn the consequences, plus he will have people to help as the residential cinnamon roll has experience in using a power that nearly kills him every time he used it before learning to control it.
Alright that is everything and now let's get on to the story.
The following is a fan-written story. My Hero Academia belongs to Horikoshi Kouhei and Re: Zero belongs to Tappei Nagatsuki. Please support the official release.
Izuku remained silent as he heard Frederica's question.
"I guess I do owe an explanation about Eri's situation, don't I?" Midoriya said as he kept his gaze away from the blonde-haired maid.
"Yes, we didn't get a chance back in Eri's room but after hearing you allude to what she went through... I need to know what happened to Eri before you rescued her." Frederica said as the greenette raised his head and looked at her light-green eyes that showed worry.
"Frederica, not that I don't appreciate your help but why are you helping us this much, a pair of strangers from another world?" Midoriya questioned as he saw her clasp her hands in front of her as she gave him a warm smile.
"Is there any reason for me to give in wanting to help someone in need?" The blonde-haired maid asked as it got the Izuku to look at her with small surprise in hearing her.
"As you said in the dining room, she needs help after the Hell she's gone through and whether you like it or not, she's as much as my concern now as she is yours. There may still be a lot that I do not know about you two but I can see that you are a good person Izuku by how you risked yourself for those you saved. I know you're someone I can trust because like you, seeing Eri not living her life as how a kid her age should makes me want to see help her recover from that experience. So I mean it when I say that I want to help you two." Frederica said as she saw the greenette stay silent for a few moments.
"You don't have to go that far for us?" Midoriya said as he felt a hand on his shoulder as he saw the blonde-maid come face to face with him.
"But I do. Remember, you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone Izuku. You have us to help along the way, understand?" Frederica said as Izuku could only at her with deep admiration at the length his new co-worker would go for both he and Eri despite just having known them not that long. He felt a swell of emotions go up to him as he hugged the sleeping ruby-eyed girl at the blonde-haired maids' words.
"Thank you, Frederica." Midoriya said trying to contain himself as not wanting to wake up Eri.
"You don't have to thank me Izuku." Frederica said as she removed her hand. No words were spoken between the two as they stood silently in the hall.
"Frederica, are you certain you want me to tell you what Eri went through? I do mean what I said back in her room." Midoriya asked.
"If it's to better understand and help her, then yes I do." The blonde-maid said as the greenette took a deep breath in to collect his thoughts.
"Alright, I'll tell you everything."
"Thank you, Izuku. Now, you can tell me as we go to where we need to be." Frederica said as she saw him nod as the two walked towards their destination.
"Where would you like me to start?" Izuku asked.
"I would like to know from the beginning and how you came rescuing Eri."
"I guess it started some time after my mentor retired. I went to my work-study at his old sidekick Sir Nighteye's agency. I thought that if I worked under someone that worked with my mentor then they could help me become a better Hero."
"Right, you mentioned your mentor before. His sidekick, Sir Nighteye, was it? He must've been glad to help you in with that favor, correct?" Frederica asked as she saw a cringed look on Izuku's face.
"Well... not exactly. He did allow me to work under him but didn't have that high of an opinion on me to be honest." Midoriya said as he remembered the first impressions with Sir Nighteye and his thoughts on him being the inheritor to O.F.A.
"You don't seem to have that many people with high opinions of you." She asked as the greenette gave a nervous laugh.
"I... guess you can say that." Midoriya said before shaking his head.
"A-anyways on my first day there we were doing surveillance and patrol on a group known as the 'Shie Hassaikai'".
"Who are they?"
"They were part of a larger group known as the Yakuza, a gang of criminals that would fall into obscurity when Heroes started to rise before breaking apart and they have remained silent since. The group was under surveillance by the police but Sir Nighteye noticed the groups' leader acting rather suspicious." Midoriya said as the blonde-haired maid took notice of his change in tone when mentioning the leader.
"What do you mean?" She asked
"The first was that he was gathering back the members of the Yakuza, not only that but he contacted the 'League of Villains' which have been causing problems as well but not much was known about what happened between those two."
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, there was also an incident between a couple of robbers and some members of the Hassaikai that were involved."
"And I am going to assume that it was this confrontation between the two that lead to Sir Nighteye wanting to investigate them?" Frederica said as she saw the greenette shake his head.
"Not quite. The thing is that no casualties happened. From what Sir Nighteye told us, the robbers were said to have experience an intense pain before passing out. However, when the police got there, no one was injured or harmed. In fact, any type of illness or cavity the robbers had were completely gone." Izuku said which got the interest of the blonde.
"I can see why he would want to investigate that case. All of that sounded rather suspicious."
"It did, so after Sir Nighteye gave us our task, I was paired with my senior Mirio and we went on patrol while he and another sidekick from his agency did surveillance. It was during that patrol that we stumbled upon Eri when she was coming out of an alleyway." Midoriya said as he adjusted his hold on the little horned girl in his arms as he continued.
"When I saw Eri, she looked as though she was lost and not being cared for as she had a dirty dress and bandages all over her arms and legs. I asked her if she was ok, even tried to help her up but noticed how she was shaking and hesitant when I reached out to her, it was as if she was scared of what I would do to her. Mirio realized this as well and we were ready to help her." The greenette said as he had a hardened expression as he recalled the events.
"Then what happened?" Frederica asked.
"Out of the same alleyway would come out the person we were looking for. The leader of the Hassaikai and the one that made Eri's life a nightmare, Kai Chisaki, better known as Overhaul." The blond-haired maid remained silent upon hearing the name of the individual.
"This Overhaul person, what did he do to Eri?" Frederica asked with a grim expression as the greenette looked down at the sleeping ruby-eyed girl in his arms.
"He was experimenting on her." To which he saw the blonde-haired maid halt her walk as Izuku saw the shocked expression on her face at hearing this.
"Experimenting... what would he gain from experimenting on her?"
"That is what me and Mirio wanted to know and it was during my fight with Overhaul that he told me. Due to how Eri's Quirk rewinds a person back to a certain state, he found a way to make Eri an essential part in the creation of his Quirk erasing bullets, ammunition that could erase a person's Quirk, permenantly."
"In other terms, making someone Quirkless, correct?" Frederica asked as she saw Izuku nod his head as he saw the blonde look at him with a confused look.
"But I don't understand, how did this Overhaul individual come to the conclusion that by conducting experiments on Eri he could use her as a means for ammunition?" She asked him as Midoriya looked hesitant for a few moments before looking back at her.
"To understand this, I have to tell you about his Quirk." Midoriya said as he saw the blonde-haired maid have her complete attention on him.
"Overhaul's Quirk allows him to alter matter however he wants by touching it. He can either break things apart or reassemble them back to their original form or make something new entirely. It didn't matter if it was an object or a person, if he could use his Quirk on it then he could alter it however he wants. It was said it was due to his Quirk that there was no casualties with the robbers that day despite the intense pain they felt before they passed out. Almost as if they experience death before being brought back." The greenette explained as Frederica remained silent as she took in all the information. Hearing the description, it sounded as if the man was playing god by destroying and rebuilding whatever he pleased, whether it was alive or not.
"That power, it almost sounds like an ability that a god would have. The good that they could do if it was used for the betterment of others." The blonde-maid said as she got no response from Izuku who kept his head down.
"But Izuku, what does his power have to do with him experimenting on Er-" The blonde-haired maid stopped mid-sentence as realization dawned on her as Midoriya saw her take a few steps back, covered her mouth with her hand in horror at the revelation.
"He... he used it on Eri, didn't he?" Frederica asked as the greenette kept his gaze down.
"That's how he was able to use her as the main source for his Quirk bullets. I don't know just what kind of approaches he took in procuring Eri's genetic material. But..." Izuku looked down on the ruby-eyed girl as he saw the scars that were hiding behind her sleeve with a sad look.
"Seeing the scars that Eri has and knowing what Overhaul's Quirk can do, he may have cut into her or broke her apart consistently to get her genetic material before putting her back together again. It's only an idea since the only that can tell us the true extent of her treatment is Eri and I don't want anything to remind her of Overhaul. But seeing how traumatized Eri was left in, he most likely made her feel her own death on a daily basis for years. That is not living, that is an actual Hell, one that no one should ever be subjected to, much less a little girl. But that wasn't the end of it." Midoriya said as he looked at the little horned girl in his arms.
"Not only did he physically abuse her by surgically cutting her up and using his Quirk on her, but he mentally abused her as well. When I first met her, I saw how afraid she was of him and how she would obey him even when she was scared and shaking. I remember Overhaul constantly telling me to not get close to Eri because of how her power could rewind a person out of existence. When Eri mentioned what happened to her father I finally understood how Overhaul was able to have such an influence over her. Eri saw what her Quirk could do to someone and Overhaul abused her guilt so that she behaved and obeyed him. She believed everything he said about her from calling her Quirk and very existence a 'Curse' and that she should be suffering so as to make sure that no one else suffers, that she has to be the one that needs to suffer." Izuku finished saying as he felt himself growing angrier at what Overhaul put Eri through and how he still had his presence over her, even after being rescued. It was there he noticed how Frederica has gone completely quiet as he saw her hands be balled into fists as she also appeared to be clenching her teeth in anger.
Frederica was horrified, appalled, and most of all she felt an unbridled sense of fury at what she heard. When she asked Izuku to tell her the truth of what Eri went through, she knew it wasn't going to be pleasant but this was sickening to hear. This man... no... this monster subjugated the little girl in front of her into a life of torture. One where she was cut apart, verbally abused, killed, and then put back together constantly to the point that the ruby-eyed girl stopped responding to the torture and just accepted it. She cannot even come close to imagining the kind of pain Eri must have gone through or how she was able to endure for so long before her green-haired co-worker saved her from a literal Hell.
"F-Frederica?" The blonde-haired maid heard him ask in worry.
"Please, tell me what did you do when you encounter them." She said trying to contain herself.
"Are you-"
"Izuku! Please... Just do as I ask..." The greenette was startled by the sudden shout at him as he saw her knuckles turning white with how hard she was clenching her hands. He could tell that Eri's story was affecting his senior judging by her mannerisms. He could just stop there but he owed Frederica the entire truth of Eri's abuse, even if he knew that he would have to tell her the part he hated the most...
"When I first saw Overhaul, I froze up but Mirio was able to evade any suspicion towards us. It was here that we heard Overhaul say that Eri was his 'daughter' but she really wasn't, he was her caretaker. The point is that due to my seniors efforts, we didn't raise any suspicion that could have compromised the investigation. Having cleared the situation with Overhaul, me and Mirio were about to leave and report back to Sir Nighteye until I felt Eri grab onto me tightly and she wouldn't let go. What she told me right then and there, I knew I couldn't leave her alone." Midoriya said as the words she told him remained with him since.
"What did Eri say?" The blonde-haired maid asked looking at him with worry.
"She told me 'Don't go'. She was shaking, on the verge of tears, asking me to not leave her. I knew something was wrong and even asked Overhaul why would his daughter be scared, why she had bandages all over her, and each time Overhaul would evade my question by saying Eri was just clumsy or that she often misbehaved and had to constantly scold her but I could feel that he was just covering the truth and I wasn't going to leave Eri alone until he explained." The greenette said Frederica saw how Izuku was tightening his hold onto Eri.
"But you were able to take her away from his clutches and keep her safe, right?" She asked as she saw that Midoriya hang his head down with his hair covering his eyes as he gave no response. Dread soon began to creep its way into the blonde-haired maid as she began to fear the worst as she grabbed the shoulders of her junior.
"Izuku, please tell me you rescued Eri and didn't return her back to that monster?!" Frederica said in a scared tone. As for the greenette, he kept his gaze down as he didn't dare to look her in the eyes and see her reaction when hearing the truth.
"I wanted to keep her away from him... I knew I was told to not raise suspicion so that the investigation wasn't jeopardized... but I couldn't leave a little girl who was begging me for help... but when Overhaul asked me and Mirio to go down the alley with him, she felt Overhaul's murderous intent towards us... Eri ran back to him... and we left her..." Izuku retold the events as he felt guilt in knowing that he and Mirio could have saved Eri then and there but didn't. He instantly felt the grip on his shoulders tighten, almost painfully as he looked up to Frederica as he saw her eyes having expanded as wide as she could with a shocked expression on her face at what he just said. There was an uncomfortable silence between them as he saw the blonde remained still as a statue as he saw her hands shake, whether out of sadness, anger, or both he didn't know, all he knew was that Frederica was doing everything in her power to keep herself composed.
"How? How could you have left her even when she was begging for help?" Frederica asked in a low tone as the greenette only tighten his hold on the little horn girl.
"There was nothing more that I wanted to do but to help and protect Eri. But when we reported back to Sir Nighteye, he told me that I shouldn't be so arrogant as to think I can save anyone whenever I want." Midoriya said as he felt the blonde-haired maid let go of his shoulders and take a few steps back.
"How can he say that? He was your mentors sidekick, right? Why would he tell you to not save someone when they need it?" Frederica said as frustration crept into her tone when hearing the reason.
"Sir Nighteye may be strict and harsh but he is not cruel. When he says something, he says them with reason. He is right in a sense, the world is not as forgiving as we want it to be, even if I had good intentions in questioning Overhaul over Eri's state, I ran the risk of making it harder for us to both catch him AND save Eri as we can't apprehend him off of a feeling I had. But at the same time, we are Heroes, its our job to help and protect those who need help. I know it was reckless of me to jeopardize an important investigation by raising suspicion on our main target. But, if I can't save even a little girl who is standing right in front of me, then how can I become a Hero who wants to save everyone." Midoriya said as he saw the unsatisfied look on the blonde maid.
"Please don't think that Sir Nighteye is the one to blame for letting Eri back into Overhaul grasp. He was the reason why we were able to find Eri in the first place within the compound and finally rescue her. He is a strict Hero but he understands that a world that doesn't have smiles or laughter is a world that has no future. He plan's things thoroughly so that we can have the best outcomes, even if it can take time for those plans to come into realization. He knows that criminals such as Overhaul wouldn't have gotten away for as long as he did by sheer luck, they lurk in the shadows where their actions will not be noticed by authorities. It's those criminals that we have to be the most careful and Sir Nighteye made sure that I remembered." Midoriya said as while he was conflicted on Sir Nighteye's words, in a sense, he was right as it was due to the meticulous planning and use of his Quirk that they were able to find out where Eri was. Izuku would see Frederica become less tense at his explanation though he could still see she was frustrated.
"Then what happened afterward? You said he was the reason you saved Eri so what happened that lead to that point?" She asked.
"Yeah, a lot happened after that but soon reporting, Sir Nighteye made a meeting with Heroes from other agencies to help him with a raid on the Shie Hassaikai. He collected evidence from another agency that my classmates were doing their work-study at and it was where we all learned that Overhaul was making Quirk erasing bullets out of Eri." Izuku said as the blonde took notice of his crestfallen look.
"Izuku, are you ok?" Frederica asked in worry as she saw him shake his head.
"I felt horrible, disgusted, and guilty upon hearing the evidence at the meeting and so did Mirio. We could have saved Eri but we didn't and..." The greenette held the ruby-eyed girl closer to him.
"I failed Eri, not just as a Hero but as a person in not doing anything." Izuku said as the blonde-haired maid saw his expression slowly morph from guilt written to serious.
"That is why I wanted to be involved in the raid. Because I had to save her, I wanted to save her from the Hell that she was living in. So on the day of the raid, we took them by surprise but they were equally ready to fight and tried to stop us from advancing further into their compound. Even with all of those obstacles, we continued pushing forward, not just to stop the Hassaikai but to save Eri. Mirio was able to get to her first due to his Quirk Permeation allowing him to phase through solid objects and was able to protect her and get her to slowly realize that everything Overhaul said about her was not true and he could have probably been able to take Overhaul on by himself." Midoriya said in a hopeful tone that didn't go unnoticed by Frederica as it got her hopes up as well until she saw his expression fall into a somber one.
"And then, he lost his Quirk..." The greenette said before continuing.
"It turned out that Overhaul was able to produce a few of the perfected Quirk erasing bullets and they tried shooting Mirio but due to his Quirk he could avoid them. However, the Villains were cunning, Eri said that their next shot was direct right at her before Mirio took the shot for her. I think they knew that he would protect Eri from harm at all cost and would not run the risk of phasing through the bullet and letting it hit her and so he took the shot for her and he lost his Quirk." Izuku said as he saw the blonde have a shocked look on her face.
"But he kept on fighting, even when he was Quirkless, Mirio still was fighting and making sure Eri was safe until me and Sir Nighteye arrived." Midoriya said as he remembered the display of Heroism his senior displayed in holding off Overhaul. As for the blonde maid, she felt disgusted at hearing how the Hassaikai group would use Eri as leverage to gain an advantage towards the Heroes. But her junior's senior, Mirio, earned her appreciation and respect in hearing the Heroic spirit the young man had, one that reminded her very much like Izuku.
"Your senior, he was willing to give everything up to save Eri. He really is a Hero." Frederica said as she saw a small smile on the greenette's face.
"Yeah, he could have been a Hero like All Might. Maybe he really should have been the one..." Midoriya murmured the last part quietly as Sir Nighteye's words still echoed in his mind.
"In that case, he should have had let Mirio inherit One for All after all."
Those words still stung him but right now, he can't let his insecurities come in, he needs to think of Eri first.
"After we arrived, Overhaul used his Quirk on himself to fuse with one of his comrades, it made him much more powerful and dangerous than before. Sir instructed me to take both Eri and Mirio back to the surface while he held off Overhaul. But as I cleared a path for us, Sir he..." Midoriya halted himself as the visual of him being impaled was replayed in his mind.
"Did he-"
"No, No Uraraka, Tsu, and Ryukyu were keeping him stabilized." Izuku cut her off as he didn't want to think of the Hero perishing while giving them time to escape.
"After seeing what happened to Sir, I told Mirio to take Eri and escape while I handled Overhaul."
"So that is how you were able to rescue Eri?" Frederica asked as the greenette shook his head.
"Even when I was fighting at twenty percent of my power and my bones almost felt as if they were cracking, it wasn't enough. Overhaul kept dodging my attempts to attack and he would have killed me had the ground I was standing on not shattered. But even then, the pain I felt from some of the shrapnel that hit me did not come close to what he did next."
"What did he do?" The blonde maid asked as she saw the greenette be silent for a few moments.
"He began to call for Eri, telling her how another person was going to die because of her, asking her if that is what she wants where I then saw Eri returned back without Mirio. He asked her if I could do anything to save her... she said no and then asked her what she should do then... and she said to return back to him. He was doing everything to make her return to him, telling her that its easier if she gets hurt herself than for others to get hurt for her, that she was acting cruel in letting others get hurt, and that she didn't need saving because she didn't want it." Midoriya said as he remembered every detail of that conversation. To hear how he couldn't do anything, even from Eri, it hurt him to hear. However, it was nothing compared to hearing her say that she should go back to Overhaul.
As for Frederica, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Just hearing how Eri was guilt-tripped into returning to the grasp of Overhaul, back to a life of endless torture and pain. It made her feel horrified and furious at the lengths that monster would go to keep the small girl under his control. She lowered her gaze towards the sleeping ruby-eyed girl in her green-haired co-worker's arms as she unconsciously reached out a hand and caressed the platinum-haired little girl's head. The more she hears Izuku talk about Eri's circumstances, the more she wonders how anyone can harm such a sweet little girl. She has been put through a life that no one should be put in. She didn't get to have fun, make friends, or have any positive figures in her life, Eri didn't get to enjoy a life that a kid her age should have. It made her want to help Eri even more, to help her break away from that life, to find happiness, to be loved, and to be able to smile.
"Frederica?" Midoriya asked as he saw the blonde maid just caressing the head of Eri.
"How did you save her in the end?" The greenette heard her say not looking at him as she continued watching the sleeping little horned girl.
"After Uraraka, Tsu, and Ryukyu crashed in on us, Overhaul began to escape with Eri with me chasing after them. As I continued going after them, I saw Eri grab onto Mirio's cape before she leaped towards me." Izuku said as he saw a small smile on Frederica's face.
"She saw that she was worth saving after all." The blonde said as she saw a small smile from the greenette.
"Yeah and in holding her I promised her that I wouldn't let her go. That she won't have to go through all of that ever again." Midoriya said as he continued.
"Though, Overhaul wasn't pleased with this. He immediately sent out spikes to try and stop me but in trying to dodge them, in unconsciously activated my Quirk at a hundred percent which got me and Eri out into the sky." To which he saw a look of realization on the blonde maid.
"You mentioned how Eri's Quirk was able to rewind your injuries before you felt the whiplash. That was how you figured it out?" She asked as Midoriya nodded.
"Yeah, however I quickly felt as though I was being ripped apart from the inside. Turns out that Eri didn't know how to use her Quirk or how to stop it. In order words-"
"She could have rewinded you out of existence." Frederica said with a shocked look.
"Yes, that's what Overhaul said when he caught up to us now with a stronger body. He said that the only way to stop Eri was to dismantle her by giving her to him." Midoriya said which the blonde maid said the serious look of the greenette.
"I returned Eri to him once before but I won't return her back to him. Ever. I tied Eri to my back with Mirio's cape and having an understanding of how fast she was rewinding my injuries, I knew that Overhaul was wrong about Eri. Her Quirk is not a curse but rather it's a blessing. It was thanks to her Quirk that I was able to push myself pass my limit and use one hundred percent throughout my body without worrying about the drawback. It's thanks to Eri's help that I was able to put a stop to Overhaul." Midoriya said as Frederica felt relief in her junior putting a stop to that monster and when hearing how he pushed himself to use his full power without worrying about the whiplash it would give him thanks to Eri, she couldn't imagine how powerful he must have been if he was able to take down someone who could destroy and rebuild anything they touched. However, there was one question that caught her attention.
"Wait, you said you were fighting a Villain in the streets with Eri before arriving in Kremaldy forest. What exactly happened right before you arrived here?" Frederica asked as it also caught Izuku's attention.
"That's the part that's been confusing me. After Overhaul was taking cared of, Eri's Quirk was getting out of control and I think I saw my teacher Mr. Aizawa looking at us but I wasn't certain as next thing I knew, I was in that forest." Midoriya said as just recounting the events was leaving him with more questions than answers.
"Did your teacher or anyone have a Quirk that can teleport people?" To which Izuku shook his head.
"No, Mr. Aizawa's nor anyone else who was helping with the raid had any Quirk that could teleport people." The greenette said as even Frederica was mystified by what she was hearing. Had it been anyone else telling her this she may think they went mad but after everything Izuku has shown her, it wasn't far to believe that's what happened to him. Although the question as to how they got there remains unsolved.
"That is everything I have to say. About Eri, how we rescued her, and why I can't leave her alone." Midoriya said grimly as the blonde-haired maid looked at him curiously.
"She's gone through so much that even after she has been rescued, Overhaul influence still lingers onto her. I want to help her every step of the way so that she won't have to live in fear of him anymore. I want to see her be happy, I want her to learn to have fun, and to learn to one day smile despite what she's gone through." Midoriya said as Frederica removed her hand from the head of the platinum-haired little girl as a smile began to grow on her face.
"Well, you won't have to worry about doing it alone. You'll have us here in the mansion to help you raise Eri."
"Raise?"
"Hm? Yeah, raise."
"Like... as in parenting?"
"Yes, that is what I am referring to you raising Er- Wait Izuku, didn't you say you want to help Eri 'every step of the way'?" Frederica asked in a reprimanded tone as the greenette's mind began to scramble for a response.
"Y-yeah! I-I meant what I said. I want to help her grow and better her situation every step of the way." Izuku said as the blonde-haired maid put her hands on her hips.
"So you will help feed her?"
"When she hungry and asks, then yes."
"Help her with brushing her hair and teeth?"
"I'm not the best at brushing hair but I can try."
"Playing with her and teaching her?"
"Yeah."
"Giving her moral support when she needs it?"
"Of course." Midoriya responded as he heard a giggle from the blonde maid as she clasps both hands in front of her.
"Izuku, that is parenting." Frederica said as she saw how the greenette was in a state of panicking and realization of the situation.
"W-wait! Is it really ok for a sixteen year old to be raising a little kid?!" The greenette asked in a panic.
"The legal age of adulthood in Lugnica is fifteen so it's not abnormal to see young adults like yourself be raising kids so it's ok if a bit irresponsible." Frederica said which confused the blonde maid as she wondered if that was different in his world. Izuku for his part was going in and out on his thought process. He wanted to help Eri, that is his priority, he just didn't think that him helping her, protecting her, and making sure her quality of life was better was considered parenting.
As for Frederica, she kept watching him switching between panicking and confusion for a bit before seeing him stand still for a moment before looking down onto the sleeping girl in his arms with a concerned look.
"Frederica?" She heard him say in a serious tone.
"Yes, Izuku?" Frederica said as she saw a pensive look on his face before responding.
"Do you think... do you think I could be a good parent, to Eri?" Midoriya finished saying.
"Izuku, you'll be raising Eri. Whether she sees you as her parent or not is up to her. Roswaal helped Rem and Ram get adjusted into their lives her in the mansion when they were around Eri's age but they don't see him as their father." The blonde maid said as she saw her green-haired junior appear less panic-looking but still have a look of doubt.
"Does it really bothering you the thought of raising Eri?" The blonde asked as she saw the greenette shake his head.
"No, of course not. I do want to raise and help her overcome everything she's gone through. It's just..."
"It's just what?"
"I don't know if I can be good enough to raise her. The only person I can think in taking care of a kid would be my mom."
"What about your father, can't you use him as a reference as well?" Frederica asked as she saw a crestfallen look on Midoriya's face which got her to realize she may have touched a sensitive spot.
"Izuku, I'm sorry. I didn't know." The blonde-haired maid apologized as the greenette shook his head.
"It's fine, Frederica. You didn't know." Midoriya said as he looked absentmindedly towards the window of the hall.
"I don't know much about dad other than him working overseas and sending us cards and money from time to time. He never visited us so it was always just me and mom for all my life." Izuku said looking at the sleeping ruby-eyed girl.
"I guess that's why I feel underprepared in raising Eri." Midoriya said as while he doesn't have much attachment to his dad, he at least wished to know why he never came to visit or why he has to constantly be away. As for Frederica, she sympathized with Izuku, she doesn't remember much about her father other than what little she remembers when she was little or even much of her mother. She could understand why her green-haired co-worker would feel overwhelmed by the news but...
"You'll do well."
"Huh?" Midoriya said as he heard his blonde-haired co-worker say as he saw a gentle smile on her face.
"To your early question, I know you will be a good parent to her." Frederica said.
"What made you think that?" The greenette asked.
"Because ever since we found you and Eri in the cliffside, I've seen how protective you've been of Eri. First thing you did when you woke up after being unconscious for three days was to run out and find her, made her feel better despite the guilt she was feeling. You always appear to prioritize her over anything, even standing up to Master Roswaal and Ram." Frederica said as Midoriya listened to everything she was saying which helped put him more at ease as he turned to look at the platinum-haired little girl.
"This will be a long-road for me and Eri, isn't it?"
"Yes, but it is one that you won't have to do alone." Izuku heard the blonde say as he turned to face her.
"Remember, Eri is as much as my concern as she is yours. You're my co-worker and your troubles will be mine as well. You won't do this alone, everyone here will help you and Eri every step of the way." Frederica said with a smile as it got Izuku to look at her with deep appreciation. She may have given him a similar talk at the start of their conversation but to hear her again, got him to give a small nod.
"T-thank you, Frederica." To which he felt her hand go through his green locks.
"Remember what I told you, there's no need to thank me Izuku." The blonde said as she was surprised at how soft his hair was before removing her hand.
"Now, do you feel ready?" She asked him as the greenette looked down at Eri as she remained asleep.
"I may be nervous but for her, I will give it my best." Izuku said with determination in his tone as he saw a smile form on Frederica's face.
"Good. It'll take some time before she recovers but I know she will be able to smile with you by her side." Frederica said.
"Thank you." Midoriya said.
"Now, we need to return to our previous task." The blonde-haired maid said as she began moving down the hall as the greenette kept pace with her.
"Actually Frederica, where are we going exactly?"
"Well, you're working under Master Roswaal so you will need a uniform." Frederica said which got him to understand as they continued walking down the hall.
That is the end of this chapter, the next one will deal with Izuku's new life at the mansion and Ram's involvement so watch out for that. Until next time this has been FightingGamePlayer11, signing out.
