A/N: By the time this chapter is up, my classes have already started. Yay. Also, by the time this chapter is up, I've finished watching High School DxD. What does that have to do with the story? Ehhh, nothing at all. Probably. And if you're thinking what I think you're thinking, no. Unless you're one of the few who do know what I mean, then yes.

Job Forty Eight: Akame's Path

"I'm your new family. You can even call me 'Father'."

"Your heart doubts the Empire. But your upbringing won't let your head accept it. In short, you've begun listening to the voice in your heart."

The wind blew softly through Akame as she looked at the ghosts of the people she fought in the past. It was still surreal to her to see their faces once more. Some more than others. She looked at each of them carefully and thought of the fights she had with each of them. "Zanku..." Her fight with Zanku wasn't one of the most difficult but one of the trickier ones thanks to his Imperial Arms. "Ibara..." She knew Ibara back when she was still part of the Elite Seven and was part of the operation that wiped out the Oarburgh clan. Their next encounter was brief as she easily killed him. "The Gravekeeper Boss." Weneg was one of the first difficult opponents Akame faced. She had to be wary of his ability to transfer all damage done to him onto. her. "Merraid..." Merraid Oarburgh is who Akame considered one of the most important people she'd met. From training her to showing her what Empire was really doing to the people, and other things she'd rather likely forget. She'd be one of the more difficult opponents to fight since she assume Merraid would have all her insects to use, unlike the last time they fought. "Gozuki..." Gozuki was the man where it all started. Buying her, Kurome, and other orphans, put them all in a forest littered with deadly Danger Beasts, and they both made it out, only to be separated and not see each other for a long time. She could list countless things Gozuki had done to her but it was because of all of that is the reason that she is the person she is now. He too would be a difficult opponent to fight.

Though Akame has fought these five people before, they all have one thing in common; she'd defeated them before and she will do so once again. They were nothing more than mere obstacles in her path and she determined to break through. With that in mind, she readied Murasame and charge right at the other group. Gozuki couldn't decide if the decision was interesting or foolish. "A frontal assault? An unusual choice, Akame."

Insert Fairy Tail OST: Natsu vs Future Rogue

Zanku was the first of the group to act and charged right at Akame. They met halfway when Zanku was the first to attack and Akame swung Murasame in retaliation. Both their weapons clashed with each other and Zanku continued to grin crazily. "Really, Akame? I didn't take you to be the kind of person to be charging straight to your death! I guess that'll make this fight all the more fun!" He began attacking rapidly with both his katars and Akame blocking each attack. During this exchange, Zanku chuckled and added a little more power in his next, attack and Akame was knocked back away from him. She was stunned for a second as Zanku disappeared in front of her. She gasped as Zanku appeared behind her and jumped away from the spot she was standing at before he struck the ground with his weapon. He turned in her direction and chased after her. Akame was on the defensive as Zanku swung both his weapons at her until he swung his right arm upward and broke her defense. He leaned forward while crossing his arms and then uncrossed his arms for a deadly double slash attack. "Shadow Surprise!" A shadow spike appeared from underneath her and it blocked Zanku's attack. Akame managed to recover and the shadow spike retracted into her shadow. She pointed Murasame at Zanku and thrust forward at him. It was an easy attack to dodge and Zanku moved to the side to evade it. She stopped her attack and immediately spun her body to swing her sword at him. Thanks to Spectator's Foresight, Zanku was able to see the attack coming and jumped back to avoid the attack. He retaliated by swinging both his weapons at Akame and she went the defensive once more. Zanku swung his left arm outward and Akame disappeared from his sight. He looked up to see Akame briefly in the air and she delivered a swift kick at him. Zanku crossed his arms and blocked the kick. He chuckled again as he uncrossed his arms and pushed Akame back. With her unable to move mid-air, Zanku jumped into the air and was above Akame. He threw his right arm forward and at the same time, Akame put Murasame in front to block the attack. Akame crashed into the ground and instantly looked up to see Zanku dropping on top of her while laughing.

Once he once near, Zanku threw both his arms in front and dust kicked up. It quickly cleared up to show Zanku standing and Akame several feet away from him. He turned in her direction and still kept that crazed smile. "You've become a lot more entertaining than last time we've fought. It's become quite...delightful." Akame didn't share the feeling. Although, she did admit Zanku has become much stronger compared to their previous bout and it most certainly had something to do with the magic she was sensing. In fact, him being stronger reminded her of something important. "It's almost as if he was strengthened by Wendy's enchantment spells." She muttered to herself. It certainly made the most sense given that she should be far stronger than any of the opponents she'd faced. If that was the case then she realized something else. "The enemy must be someone who can enchantments like Wendy." She muttered once more.

As soon as Akame came to that conclusion, her instincts kicked in, and jumped back avoiding a deadly arm swipe, and saw Ibara standing before. He chuckled sinisterly as he smiled at her. "And here I thought I had a chance to kill you."

"Tell me, Akame..." Akame saw Zanku walking up to Ibara and was standing next to him. "Do you think you'll be able to handle the both of us?" Akame's only response was drawing out her other sword and her expression didn't waver. The answer was good enough for both of them.

Zanku and Ibara vanished before Akame's eyes and appeared right before her. Zanku was the first to attack and his attack went right through her. He had a confused look when Akame disappeared in front of him. Ibara tsked as Akame vanished in front of them. "Afterimage." He looked ahead and threw his right arm forward and it stretched out. Akame reappeared away from them only for her body to be wrapped around Ibara's arm tightly. She heaved in pain as Ibara chuckled before he quickly closed the distance between them. He threw his left fist forward but Akame disappeared once again and his attack missed. Now he became confused as to how Akame managed to escape his hold. He looked down to see a shadow in the same location Akame once stood. "Shadow Sea Urchin!"Ibara jumped back just before multiple shadow spikes erupted from the shadow.

Ibara was at a safe distance and saw the spikes retract into the shadow and Akame appeared from her shadow. Again, Ibara laughed as he recognized the technique she used. "You used one of our moves. I guess we had more of an influence on you than I thought." Akame wouldn't deny that since she was trained by Gozuki and knew some of his techniques.

Akame pressed the ends of the handles of her two swords together and shadows swirled around her swords. "Shadow Moon." She charged Ibara while spinning her body around while the shadows circling her sword extended. Ibara jumped over the attack and it missed. He turned his body around and pulled his right arm back before throwing it forward and it stretched to where Akame stopped. Akame stopped her attack on a dime and Ibara's attack missed, striking the ground. As soon as Akame stopped, Zanku charged right at Akame ready to cut her down. She turned around and managed to block his attack with her swords and they exchanged blows once again. With her being occupied, Ibara began to pull himself right at her while she was being preoccupied with Zanku. Akame deflected another of Zanku's attacks and sensed something extremely dangerous was heading her way. She retreated into her shadow and as soon as she did, it was too late for Ibara to stop and he crashed into Zanku.

Zanku groaned as he stood up and was reasonably mad at Ibara. "You idiot! Watch where you're going! I almost had her!"

Ibara sneered at the former executioner as he stood up. "How about you get out of the way. I don't seem some mindless fool getting in between me and my prey!"

"Shadow Slash!" They both turned to where they heard Akame's shout and saw a shadow blade coming right at them. They both jumped back and the attack missed them. They saw Akame standing across from them still having that determined expression.

Zanku's smile widened as he thought of an idea. "How about this? Whoever kills Akame first wins!"

Ibara smiled as well as he quite liked the idea. "Fine. I'll enjoy slaughtering her!" They both ran toward her at the same time. Akame remained still as both now surrounded her at both sides. At that moment, Akame closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. She listened to her calming heartbeat and awaited the right moment. Zanku and Ibara attacked at the same time and that's when she opened her eyes. "Death Twister." She turned her body around too quickly for Zanku and Ibara to see and they were slashed across their chests twice. Once with Akame's normal sword and again by Murasame. The wind behind the attack blew out all around and blew Ibara and Zanku away from Akame.

Both grunted in pain as Zanku began to stand up but was already feeling Murasame's poison coursing through his body. "Not...again! Akame...!" Those were the last words he said before he took his last breath and fell forward to the ground.

Ibara growled at Akame as he clutched his chest as the markings appeared and spread out quickly. "Damn you...Akame..." He spoke those last words before falling to the ground.

That was two down and three to go and Akame had no time to rest. As soon as she turned around, she an incoming attack and moved her body away to evade it. She felt the attack graze the side of her face and the attacker went past her. She turned around to see the Grave Keeper boss, Weneg smiling at her. "Impressive." Akame raised her swords against Weneg and was prepared for the next fight. Weneg was more than looking forward to their rematch. He loved the look in her eyes and how they looked. "Now that I have a closer look at you, it's quite clear you've become a different person since the last time we fought. Your eyes tell me that much. You must've gone through many grueling battles after we have fought."

Akame just narrowed her eyes at the former Gravekeeper boss. "I'm surprised you didn't join in the previous fight earlier."

Weneg only laughed at Akame's statement. "I'd rather prefer fighting you myself rather than fighting alongside those two buffoons. I want to see how much stronger you've become and..." He raised his right in front and clenched it tightly. "I want to test out my newfound strength against you!" He took in a deep breath and breathed out a large stream of fire at Akame. The attack came at her quickly and she slashed the fire in halve. However, when she did so, Weneg appeared in front of her and gasped just before he punched her in the abdomen. The force of the punch went through her body and she let out a loud gasp of pain. She blasted away from Weneg and he vanished only to appear behind her as she was approaching him. He pulled his left arm in before swinging it and hitting her right side. She traveled in a different direction and she crashed through the ground with columns of dust spiking into the air. She finally stopped and groaned in pain for a moment Weneg let out another fire breath attack that was quickly closing in on her. Before the fire reached her, she quickly sank into her shadow. He stopped his attack and let out a pleased chuckle as he saw Akame emerge from her shadow. "This time I will not be not underestimating you. I'm well aware of your ability to use shadows. Anything you use, I'll see it coming and I'll enjoy taking my time inflicting as much pain as possible on you before crushing your skull beneath my feet!"

Akame had her left hand was on her right side and judging from the pain, could tell that several of her ribs were badly damaged. His strength and speed have increased dramatically since their last fight. There was something else to consider about him too. An ability he has that she was aware of. "With his increased power and speed plus his ability to reflect whatever damage he takes onto me, it's a dangerous combination." The last time she fought Weneg, she managed to kill him by slowly cutting him away up until he couldn't transfer the damage anymore. The difference now is that she had Murasame and she only needed one cut to kill him. She had one way to stop him and end this fight quickly. She removed her hand and placed them together. "Shadow-Make..."

Weneg saw this as his chance to kill. "As if I'll let you!" He vanished and appeared in front of Akame as he swiped his clawed hand at her. But instead, he swiped at nothing. Confusion quickly came to him. "What?!"

Akame appeared behind him still in her stance. "Shadow Bindings!" Black shadow bindings appeared and wrapped around his body tightly.

Weneg struggled to break free from the bindings but couldn't and in the next second, he felt a large slash going diagonally across his back. He glanced back angrily at Akame. "Why you-" He gasped as he felt a strong pulse throughout his body. Markings began to appear from the cut Akame made with Murasame. All he could do now was growl at her. "To think I'd die at your hand once again." He felt his heartbeat one last time before coughing up blood and his body went limp.

Akame dispelled the bindings and Weneg's body dropped to the ground. Three of her opponents were killed now but now the real fight was about to begin. She looked off to the side at the last two people who influenced her the most. "Well, how about it?" She swung Murasame to the side and held it in place while glaring at them. "Shall we?"

Merraid and Gozuki looked back at Akame and Merraid smiled at her before clapping. "Oh, Akame. You've become much stronger since the last time I saw you." Akame said nothing and gave her a cold glare. Merraid whined and pouted. "Aw, don't look at me like that. I know I told you not to wear your heart on your sleeve, but you can at least show me how happy you are seeing me again."

Gozuki wasn't as hurtful as Merraid. "You may have become stronger but you're up against your father and the former leader of the Oarbrugh Clan. On top of being...enchanted, that red-haired woman mentioned, do you really think you have a chance of winning against us."

"I do." Akame's reply surprised Gozuki. "This magic that summoned you back to life is similar to Yatsufasa's ability, and you may have become stronger but they share the same weakness. Time has stopped for both of you the moment you died and you don't have any new techniques while I have become stronger since your deaths. With that being said, there's something else I'd like to say to you both." She closed her eyes and bowed to them which they didn't expect her to do. Merraid and Gozuki were slightly confused as to why she was doing this. "Gozuki, you put me through the worst kind of hell I've ever experienced, but without you, I don't know where Kurome and I would be if you haven't bought us. It was because of you that I began down this path. And Merraid, you were the one who showed what was truly happening and I questioned what I was really fighting for. Because of that, I took upon a new path and that path has led me to meet new people." She thought of Bulat, Najenda, Leone, Lubbock, Sheele, Mine, Tatsumi, Chelsea, Susanoo, and Wendy. She finished her bow and opened her eyes. "And as I continued walking down this path, I've met many others in my life that I'm glad I was able to meet and brought me to where I am now. And I will continue walking down this path and you two will not stop me."

Gozuki couldn't help but chuckle at his former daughter's speech. "You think so, do you? If you believe in that so strongly..." He leaned slightly forward before launching himself right at Akam. "Then it'll be cathartic crushing that belief into dust!" He quickly approached Akame and she put both her swords to guard his incoming attack. When he neared her, he disappeared and reappeared behind her with his Murasame pulled back. He swung his Murasame at Akame but she quickly turned around and blocked his attack. A small boom occurred when their weapons clashed against one another. Since Gozuki had his own Murasame, she knew one cut from it would kill her and couldn't afford for that to happen. As soon as she blocked the attack, she jumped back before Gozuki grew his hair out and the ends became pointed and stabbed the ground where she was standing a second before. She kept jumping back to avoid the sharp ends of Gozuki's hair.

When Akame made one more jump, she noticed something off and a large explosion occurred. Merraid smiled at the sight since the explosion was caused by her explosive ants. She then saw Akame jump out of the explosion and was in the air. Merraid pointed her finger at her and swarms of her insects surrounded her. "One thing you're forgetting, Akame. When we last fought, I'd given most of my insects to Cassandra and I didn't have much to use. This time, I have all of my insects at my disposal!" She closed her hand and a tremendous explosion occurred. She was quite proud of what she did but that quickly went away when she and Gozuki saw a black sphere fall out of the explosion and fall to the ground.

It bounced on the ground a few times before stopping and it popped to ribbons to reveal Akame. "Shadow-Make: Shadow Bouncy-Ball Shield."

Merraid blinked a few times before laughing a little at what she saw. "My, how intuitive of you, Akame. But..." Akame's senses flared up and turned to the side and blocked a surprise attack by Gozuki. She pushed him back but he quickly recovered and resumed his attack. Akame kept defending while trying not to be cut by his Murasame. "How long can you keep up fighting both of us!" She threw her arm forward and large swarms of her beetle Wrigglers at her. Akame was quickly running out of time and needed to get away from her father. With that many insects, Merraid was sending, she couldn't hope to fend them all off plus fighting against Gozuki. While currently engaged with Akame, Gozuki's toenails ripped through his shoes for a sneak attack. Akame quickly moved her body back to avoid it but that left her open for a second as swung his left leg and it stretched to where Akame was. His elongated kick struck her right side and a terrible pain went through her body. If her ribs were badly damaged from Weneg's attack before, they were most certainly fractured by her father's attack. She landed on the ground and trembled in pain before she felt something wrapping her ankle tightly. She looked to see it was part of her father's hair.

Gozuki chuckled at Akame. "As if I'll let you escape." He sent more of his hair at Akame and they wrapped around her other ankle and both her wrists. He lifted her slightly off the ground so she wouldn't escape into her shadow. Merraid's swarm surrounded them both. "And I'll be damned if I let that woman be the one who'll kill you!" He stretched out his arm holding his Murasame right toward her.

"Multi-Shadow Surprise!" Several shadow blades erupted from her shadow beneath and one of them struck her father's Murasame upward while other blades severed his hair. As soon as she was back on the ground, she retreated into her shadow before the swarms reached her and flooded the spot she was previously at.

Akame moved away from the swarm and emerged from her shadow. As soon as she did, she quickly noticed Merraid approaching her and thrust her right hand forward. She moved to the side and luckily avoided it. She couldn't risk Merraid stabbing her with hands because if she did, she'd implant Wrigger eggs inside her body and them hatch inside her, killing her from within. She did manage to gain distance from her but something felt off. Merraid wasn't chasing after her. She took a closer look saw that her left hand was pulled back and closed. She then looked up to see a huge swarm of bee Wrigglers descending upon her. She was about to move again when she felt a sharp pain around her ankle and fell to one knee. She looked to where the pain came from and saw a single beetle Wriggler that cut above her ankle. Using her good foot, she put all her strength into it and jumped away from the swarm before it struck the ground she was previously at. Merraid moved her hand again and her swarm followed and they surrounded Akame. She was about to retreat into her shadow again when Merraid coyly smiled. "Gotcha." She snapped her fingers and the ground underneath Akame exploded. The explosion took out a large amount of the swarm but it was worth it as it sent Akame flying in the air and dealt massive damage to her. Merraid pointed her finger at her and what remained of the swarm and they flew to Akame.

Akame miraculously recovered and turned her body around to see the remaining Wrigglers. She drew out her second sword and began slashing away at them. While doing so, a few did get past her and managed to sting her in her abdomen, right leg, and left arm. She killed all of them but she could feel the effects of the insect's poison. She was still resistant to the poison but it was enough to slow her down and she dropped to the ground with a thud.

End OST

Akame lay on the ground heavily injured and the poison wasn't helping either. She struggled to stand up and her body felt like heavy lead. "You're still going to fight?" She looked ahead to see Merraid standing across from her. "I must admit, you lasted much longer than I'd anticipated but I believe I'll end this now." She snapped her fingers again and multiple caterpillar Wrigglers emerged from the ground. They spat out silk from their mouths and encased her in a cocoon. Several seconds later a crack appeared on it and it unfurled revealing Merraid in a form Akame hadn't seen in a long time. The form of a human/butterfly Wiggler hybrid. "I won't be holding back anymore. Be grateful as I'll be killing you in my strongest form."

Akame was already weakened from her previous encounter and now she had to deal with this form once again. "It's over, Akame." She looked over to the side to see Gozuki again. "Your path ends here."

Akame was about near out of options. Her body had taken a lot of damage, her right-side ribs were fractured, the poison was making her feel sluggish, she felt heavy, and she had to fight against Merriad in her strongest form and her father. What else could she do to survive? In this dire situation, for some reason, she remembered a certain conversation.

F

"I see. So, you've chosen Maker Magic and it's Shadow at that. What made you choose that?"

In the Lamia Scale guild, Akame was sitting at a table with Lyon sitting across from her. "I thought it would prove to be the most useful to me. Having to make anything in any situation I'm in sounds very helpful."

Lyon lightly chuckled at that. "That I'll agree with you. So, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"

"I thought you can give me some pointers and tips about this magic since you're so well versed in it."

Lyon felt rather flattered being asked. "I see. Well, it's true that Maker Magic can create what we need to use in any given situation but there's also the element itself to consider."

Akame blinked a few times and had a confused expression. "What do you mean?"

Lyon held a finger up. "Take my magic for example. You know I specialize in Ice-Make Magic. More specifically, Active Ice-Make Magic where my ice can move. Gray's, on the other hand, is Static Ice-Make Magic where he can create stationary ice in the form of weapons. In the end, our magic uses ice magic where it's strong and sturdy but there are some things we can't create such as a moving armor of ice. I will admit that's one thing that Esdeath woman can pull off successfully with those ice soldiers of hers. But then we have your Shadow-Make magic. Shadow-Make is more interesting because of the element. Shadow can be more flexible and can be just as sturdy as the object you're creating it to be. You can change the size and shape to your specifications. Does that make sense to you?"

Akame closed her eyes and thought about what Lyon explained to her. "I believe so. I may need to experiment to get a better understanding."

Lyon couldn't help but smile at her. "I'm sure you'll understand the basics easily and see what you can do with your magic. Remember, there are no limits of what you can create."

F

"There are no limits of what I can create." An idea finally came to Akame's mind and now knew what to do. Her eyes showed off a new resolve in them. "You're wrong. My path doesn't end here with you." She sheathed her extra sword. "I alone will decide when it'll end and I'll make sure see through this path to the very end!" She put her hands together and took up her stance. "Shadow-Make...!" As soon asshe spoke those words, both Gozuki and Merraid vanished and appeared from both sides surrounding her. Gozuki swung his Murasame while Merraid's right arm transformed into a monstrous scythe claw and attacked at the same time. Before their attacks could reach her, strong spiraling shadows erupted from underneath Akame and blocked their attacks. They were pushed and saw the shadows completely covering her. Once finished, the shadows began to take shape with large wings sprouting behind her back and began to look what seemed like armor. She moved her arm to the side and a strong gust of wind came out. "Shadow Imperial Arms Demon Armor: Incursio!"

Merraid stared wide-eyed at what she was seeing before her. "What is that?!"

Gozuki narrowed his eyes at the sight. "I recognize that armor but it looks different than I remember."

Insert Fairy Tail OST: Fight for Freedom

Merraid growled out of anger at Akame. "Armor or not, it won't help you!" She put her left arm forward and large swarms made of her beetle Wrigglers carrying the ant bomb Wrigglers appeared and surrounded Akame. Once they did, she snapped her fingers and a tremendously powerful explosion occurred. With the smoke now covering her, Merraid and Gozuki rushed at it and swung their weapons at Akame once they were near.

When they did, the force behind their attack blew out the smoke and saw that Akame wasn't there. They both had the same thought. "Where did she go?"

"Shadow Fall Cornu!"

They looked up and saw something crashing down on them. A large column of dust shot up into the air and Gozuki and Merraid were blasted out of it. They both groaned as Akame shot out from the column and flew straight for Gozuki first. He saw Akame coming at him quickly and stood up to prepare his counterattack. He stretched out his hair right at her as it increased in both volume and size. As soon as she encountered her former father's sharpened hair, she swung Murasame and took out her second sword to cut through them as she advanced toward him. When his hair didn't work, he put his left hand forward and his nails stretched out next. The nails did reach Akame, but they failed to pierce through her shadow armor and broke. As she neared him, he put up his Murasame as a final act of defense. Since she was wearing armor, his Murasame wouldn't be able to cut through. Once Akame reached him, her other shadow magic surrounded her swords and crossed them in front of her before delivering a devastatingly powerful slashing attack. "Shadow X-Cution!" The attack went through Gozuki's Murasame with ease and absolutely destroyed it in the process while a large boom occurred. He screamed out in pain as blood spurted out from his freshly made wound as Akame was now standing behind him.

Gozuki let out a weary pained groan as he fell backward to the ground with a heavy thud. As he felt Murasame's poison coursing through his body, he had one last thought about Akame before darkness took him over again. "Akame...you've grown so strong since my death. I'm...so proud..." Akame saw him close his eyes and they didn't open again.

As silence filled the air, Akame looked at her armored hand. She was surprised where this newfound strength was coming from. In fact, this feeling was familiar to her. "It's like when I first fought Merraid." This familiar feeling Akame was having was her releasing her limiter once more as the Oarbughs did. Speaking of the Oarburghs, she sensed something was quickly approaching her and turned around to massive swarms of Wigglers coming at her. As the swarm neared her, she swung both her swords at them and slashed large portions of the swarms apart. From behind part of the swarm, long, thick threads of silk appeared and wrapped around Akame's right arm. She followed the thread and saw it was coming from Merraid who was shooting the thread from her fingertips. Akame first thought to cut the thread from her but she had a different idea in mind. Instead, she flew right at Merraid. Merraid didn't expect Akame to come right at her willingly and she was already approaching her. When she swung both her swords at once at Merraid, the older woman jumped over the attack and delivered a swift and powerful kick to the side of Akame's armored head. Normally, an attack like that would be enough to incapacitate or knock out a person but all it did was send Akame back a small distance away from Merraid. That was good enough for her as she had her scythe arm covered and her midsection with beetle shield Wrigglers since they were proven to protect her from Murasame in the past once wielded by Gozuki and Akame's previous Shingu weapon. She quickly closed in on Akame and swung her scythe arm down at her. In a split second, Akame vanished before her eyes and within an instant, she was behind her while holding Murasame to the side. It took Merraid a few moments to realize that her scythe arm was cut off along with blood suddenly spurting out from a large upward cut on her right side. "Shadow-Magic: Silent Shadow Slash."

End OST

Merriad's transformation became undone as she fell backward to the ground. Akame also dispelled her shadow armor and turned around to see Merraid once more. Merraid sighed one more time as she gave Akame a loving and sweet smile. "You're just as beautiful as I remember. Even if it was for a short time, I was happy to see you again, Akame." She closed her eyes and still kept her smile. "I love you." Those were the last words she'd speak to her.

Merraid then vanished and Akame closed her eyes as she sighed. Merraid was the last of the group of opponents she'd face but there were still the others. "I wonder if Leone and Chelsea are alright?" Then her thoughts focused on Chelsea. She wondered how their relationship will be from here on out. She still considered her a close and dear friend and she'd hate to lose that friendship. However, as she said, they'll settle this once this war was over. She took one step forward and she felt a sudden terrible pain wracking through her body. She fell forward to the ground and groaned in pain. She couldn't move any part of her body and felt her conciseness fading. She tried to fight it but it was useless. She looked to where the guild was and darkness was quickly enveloping her vision. "No, not yet. I have...to keep going. I... need to...the guild..." She finally closed her eyes.

As Akame lay on the ground, there was the sound of footsteps approaching her. They stopped and Chelsea was now standing over her. As she stared at her, she remembered Taeko's words. "The person responsible for killing me is none other than Akame and it was her and her group that killed all of the Oarburgh Clan." Anger still boiled within her and now here was Akame unconscious and helpless. It'd be so easy now to dispose of her. She took out a single needle and had a predatory look in her eye as she looked down at the person responsible and the group, she was with for taking away the two people she treasured the most.
