Part 27: Reassuring and name
The group that had retrieved the cure from the WLF base along with Tommys group along with Owen and Mel. Were heading to the theatre where Mikes group was staying. Dylan, now the leader of Chris's group was standing at the front along with the rest of his group. All of them had their assault rifles out ready for a fight. Johnny was standing next to Dylan with his sword out. They saw two infected ahead of them, but before any could fire they were slammed headfirst into a wall.
"Johnny you sure you don't need a break," Tommy said.
"I'm fine," he said calmly before continuing to walk forward. Tommy along with Darren, Dean and Lily looked at each other worried. After they had heard Johnnys scream it was a few minutes before he walked back in saying they were leaving to meet up with the others.
Luckily the infected was the only thing they had to worry about and they didn't run into any scars on the way back which made Mike and Abby look confused. When they reached the theatre Mike knocked in a certain order, letting them know it was okay to open. Then man that had saved Johnnys team along with Abby was the one who had opened.
"Chris, some of the new people were able to get the radio working," he said as everyone walked in. Then Steven walked in from the main room and instantly saw the rest of his team.
"Hey you all made it back," he said looking relieved but then noticed Jonny was looking down and had his sword out.
"I'm heading to the roof, going to make sure no one comes by," Johnny said looking at Mike before walking up the stairs.
"Hey Johnny," Steven said but then Tommy grabbed his shoulder and shook his head no. Inside the main room after everyone had heard what happened. No one said anything accept for Mel who was giving Mikes group the cure. Leo was sitting at the front row of seats with an annoyed look on his face.
Mike was sitting on the stage drinking from a bottle of water when Abby sat next to him, "I shouldn't have brought them here," she said getting his attention.
"They would have come to Seattle at some point, has he come down yet?" Mike asked.
"No, Tommy said to give him some time, hes not use to losing people," Abby said before remembering something that happened, "What did she mean when she asked if you finally told me," she said.
Mike looked surprised before looking away with a serious look on his face, "Its not important," he said.
"Don't lie, Ive trained with you long enough to know when your lying," she said.
Mike sighed, "A while after the two of us started to train together, I started to like you, but I never said anything because you were with Owen at the time," he said making her look surprised.
"What," she said not knowing what to say.
"When the two of you broke up I still didn't say anything because you were trying to track down that group, so instead I decided to support you as your friend and I was okay with that," he said looking down.
"Then when you finally took off, I stayed behind so I could look after some people, I'm sorry," he said.
"Don't be sorry, you were probably better off," Abby said trying to gather her thoughts. She hadn't been with anyone since Owen got together with Mel. But then she remembered all the times she hung out with Mike after that. Despite what she was going through he still made her smile sometimes.
Then one moment stood out. The relief she felt when she found him here.
"Mike be honest with me, do you still feel that way," she said making him look at her. Neither of them said anything as their faces started to lean close to each other.
"Whats going on here," Owen said getting their attention as the two of them separated.
"Nothing, wait," Abby said before getting off the stage after seeing a radio in his hand, "What are you doing with that," she said.
"That's one the WLF uses," Owen said stepping down as well.
"I overheard them talking, Isaacs taking everyone and attacking the island today," Owen said.
"That means we can get out of the city safely," Mel said walking over.
"That's right, we need to go, but theres something else," Owen said, "After their done here their going to start heading for Jackson," he said making Abby and Mike look surprised.
"The doctors going after the journal," Abby said looking at Mike who nodded.
"I gotta warn Johnny," he said before quickly walking out. Abby was about to follow him when Owen stopped her.
"What are you doing, this our chance to get out of here," he said.
"But what about these people," Mel said pointing at the crowd.
"A lot of them are scars, the people who tried to kill us," Owen said looking serious.
"None of them have harmed me since I got here earlier," Abby said.
"So your just going to side with the traitor," Owen said making her look annoyed. Knowing he meant Mike.
"Hes a good man," she said before heading in the same direction as Mike while Owen looked annoyed.
In the radio room, "Alright I think I got it," one of Tommys men said adjusting the radio.
"Tommy to Jackson, is anyone there," Tommy said speaking into the radio.
"Tommy is that you," a male voice said. Tommy smiled recognizing Philips voice.
"Yeah its me, how is everyone doing back home," he said.
"Great, but I got two wife's who are worried about their husbands," Philip said.
"Yeah well a lots happened since we left," Tommy said looking down.
"Tommy, where is everyone," Philip said sounding serious. Knowing what Tommy sounded like.
"Ill tell you, but first your going to have to call Joel and Ellie for me," Tommy said looking serious.
On top of the theatre, flying above the roof was Johnny holding his sword out. He was keeping an eye out for enemies while thinking of what to do next. "I need to make sure everyone makes it out, but I cant let that monster get away," he thought. Thinking about the assistant.
Then at the entrance stood Mike, Abby and Steven, "Hey what are you doing here?" Mike asked looking at Steven who had come up after them.
"We have something that might help him," Steven said looking at Johnny.
"Good, because were going to need him for whats about to happen," Mike said. Steven called Johnny down and said he will watch. He explained Tommy needed him in the radio room and that's where he headed.
"Here sit down," Tommy said pushing out a chair for him. Johnny sat in the chair and looked right at the speaker, "Alright you two hes hear," he said speaking into the radio before leaving the room.
Johnny looked confused before hearing Ellies voice, "Johnny, your alive," she said making him look surprised.
""Ellie," he said speaking into the speaker.
"We heard what happened, it wasn't your fault," Joel said.
Johnny looked down, "I couldn't protect him, I failed," he said feeling his shoulders begin to shake.
"But he still fought alongside all of us," Ellie said sounding serious, "Me, Rachel, Lily and everyone else on our team knew what we were all getting into when we set up the team," she said.
"Ive seen you fight after what happened Johnny," Joel said, "I'm very happy with the man you've become, Ellie really made a good choice and I know you'll make a great father," she said.
"That's right, little Elsie is going to need her dad to come home," Ellie said, "So be the man I fell in love with and fight for whats right," she said.
Johnny looked surprised before letting more tears fall. Now remembering there were still people in this world he needed to protect and those he needed to get home to. He quickly wiped his eyes before speaking again.
"We all got one more fight left here, then were coming home, I love you and thank you," Johnny said smiling.
"I love you too," Ellie said.
"Make sure to get home safe," Joel said. Though he couldn't see them, Joel and Ellie were smiling. Knowing he was going to be okay. After a few minutes where Tommy and Steven got to talk to their families too. Johnny was told by Mike and Abby what was about to happen.
Then everyone was gathered in the main room. Mike along with Abby was standing on the stage. Johnny along with the other leaders were there as well.
"As you all know the WLF is attacking the scars island today, which gives us the chance to finally leave the city safely," Mike said.
"But it wont end there, once the WLF is finished here they'll come after Jackson to get something that will get a lot of people killed," Johnny said.
"The WLF is going to take over," one of the former scars said.
"I plan to stop them all, the WLF and the scars," Johnny said stepping forward, "I'm only asking for volunteers, a lot of you have already done enough," he said.
"I'm not letting you go alone," Tommy said.
"Me neither," Steven said stepping forward with the other members of the team.
"Steven, I cant ask you to," Johnny said.
"If they get away with this ill lose my family too," Steven said looking serious.
"Were with you to the end," Lily said. Dean and Darren nodded in agreement.
"Will fight with you too," Leo said as all the members of his group cheered.
"Can I count on anyone to fight with me," Mike said looking at his group. All the ones that could fight cheered.
"Ill go with you too," Abby said.
"Wait your seriously staying here," Owen said walking forward.
"Yes," she said looking serious.
"Well then I'm staying too, someone has to make sure you don't get killed," Owen said.
"Owen," Mel said.
"You cant go, take the ones who cant fight out of the city," he said.
"Will get them there and protect them," Dylan said before stepping forward with the rest of his group, "Will be waiting and keeping them safe until your finished," he said looking at Johnny who nodded at him.
Johnny then took out his sword, "To this day I never gave my sword a name, but now I know," he said before holding it in the air, "Victory,".
"Today we fight to protect those we care about," he said as the crowed cheerec and ready to fight.
