Interlude: The Reaper And The Spider
"Are you serious? No way, you can't be serious. Are you serious?"
"Master is serious, Peter. This is important and we can't have you screwing up. Not only does it effect you, master will take a huge part of the blame, if you fuck up. Remember that, you screw up and it's my master that suffers for it."
"Emyia please, it'll only be for a week. Two at the most and by the time anyone figures out where gone, we'll be back in a flash. Might actually be a good thing, as well be able to smack or chop a few more heads off, if they think, they can get away with it. Or maybe it'll just be the plain idiots or wannabe gangsters that poke their stupid heads out. Works out either way."
"That it does, Onii-chan."
"Fou, Fou."
"Well, i believe this will be a fine opportunity for Peter, my queen. He's proven he is capable hero and now, it's time to let him spread his wings and fly."
Peter Parker, a sixteen year old, lanky teen with messy brown hair and eyes, flinched a little at hearing the Archer of red's harsh words and his mentor's rebuke of said Archer's words. Not that he was wrong in that regard. Though he did brighter up, when the blonde Saber vouched for him and his mentor standing up for him, against the Archer's harsh words.
It isn't that Emyia hated Peter, he just found some of Spider-Man's ideals a bit too foolish. A little too much, like his younger self's ideals. Something that Archer couldn't stand when he was Rin's Servant and in his own, misguided way, was trying to help Peter realize how foolish it was before it was too late. Or worse, go down his path.
The Counter Guardian path.
Though despite the harsh words, Peter stilled giggle a little when Saber called his mentor "Queen". He's seen a lot of the other armored Saber's and or Archer, even that wired, edgy fog dude call Xero queen and it never stopped being funny to hear.
Of course, that made Xero shoot a withering glare his way, making Peter shut his mouth but he stilled smiled.
Totally worth it.
It was earlier in the morning, around 9 AM and Xero had called his young appreciate what he needed to be done. After some convincing his aunt May, Peter was driven to Stark tower, via Happy and now, the Queens' native sat at the table inside the penthouse. The master's and Servants sat around Peter in a semi-circle, with Fou sitting on Xero's shoulder.
As always.
The little white fur ball had taken a liking to Peter, the second they met. It showed just how good a person, Peter was, as Fou rarely liked any human. Cause most smelled like scum bags to him. The same went for Tony, while he didn't hate him, he didn't like him either.
Xero just chalked it up to his father, being a narcissistic. Can't be his wit or snarky attitude, cause Xero had that in spades and Peter was just as witty, as himself. Young as he was, Peter understood what kind of responsibility he would have to bear, if he wanted to become a hero. In a way, the young Parker was just like Xero in his obligations.
With great power, come great responsibility.
That was the motto, Peter's deceased uncle Ben. The man's death, was caused by Peter's inactions and as a result, the teen carried a guilty conscience. Something that Xero and Gudako were trying to help Peter overcome but it was a long process and one, that would take time to heal.
Time heals all wounds after all.
"Thank you for being with Peter. He's always had trouble with making friends, since he's a little smarter then everyone. Make no mistake Mr. Mazoku, i'm proud of my nephew, it's just that he has a hard time contacting with people his age, due to his brain power. It's gotten even worse since Ben...no, never mind. Peter's a good kid, just distant."
"It's no problem ma'm. Peter just needs a little more confidence in himself and learn to not care how other people see him as. Don't worry, i'll look after him."
"Thank you."
Xero sighed a little, his mind wandering back to the first conversation he had with Peter's aunt May and the promise he made her.
"And by 'taking care of him' i'm now, throwing him right into the fire. Great job Xero."
Even though Xero did convince Peter to tell his aunt about him being Spider-Man, the relationship didn't change. It in fact, reduced Peter's stress and guilt for lying to his beloved aunt and she even helped Peter, become a better hero. But that didn't stop her form worrying about him and making Xero promise, to look after her dear nephew.
But that's just life.
Shaking his head, he looked at Peter and said,"Listen Peter, this is very important. You see, a man claiming to be Loki, yes the brother of Thor, THAT Loki, stole a very dangerous item. One that could cause unimaginable damage, if left unchecked. Now we have to get it back and YOU, will stay here and be New York's friendly neighborhood Spider Man."
He explained, as Peter went wide eyed at the mention of the god of mischief. Naturally, the boy was shocked to hear that god form Norse mythology was not only real but he stole HYDRA's secret weapon. Of course that didn't stop Peter form running his mouth.
"Okay. I get that, as this is a little out of my league. Purse snatchers and common thugs are kinda my bread and butter. Maybe giant lizards too, but who's counting that. Anyway, you can count on me Xero. I'll even track down this child killer, you-"
"No."
Before Peter could finish his sentence, Xero cut him off with a glare,"Under NO circumstances are you to go NEAR the killer. I don't care, you so much as see a hint of Caster, you run. He's too much for the police, military and even beyond you're skill set Peter. This isn't some common nutcase or even people like Rhino. Caster would CRUSH you, within five seconds of fighting and you'll be lucky, if you he kills you quickly."
"But i can handle it!"
Peter said loudly, but Xero only glared at him and stood up, his chair scraping against the marble floor, as he spoke in a firm tone,"N.O. No. There is no way in hell, am i letting fight Caster. You're strong Peter, no doubt about that but Caster will destroy you. End of discussion."
"But-"
However he was ignored, as Xero made his way out of the room, leaving the three males to themselves. Peter looked both hurt and crestfallen. Did his mentor, the man he looked up to(Despite being the same age) and let's be honest, one of the few friends he had besides Gwen, think so little of him? Or was this "Caster" person really all that dangerous?
Sure, they butted heads on some things. Namely, how they deal with certain criminals. Peter believed killing was wrong and stayed true to his uncle's words of wisdom. While his mentor and friend, had no problem with stepping over the line and killing people. That was the main issue between the two and while, they avoid the subject to prevent fights between them, it came up every now and again.
In fact, Xero wanted Peter to stay true to himself and not kill. He knew his friend, simply didn't have a killer's heart, unlike himself who was a natural born killer. Unlike Peter, Xero has soaked his hands deeply in blood of foe and friend alike. He didn't want the brown haired teen, to follow the same path he's on.
Not now or ever.
But they still fought, on which method for dealing with crime was. But that didn't mean Peter didn't value and respect Xero and vice-verse. His friend had been doing this a hell lot longer then himself and knew what he was doing, allowing him to acquire the skills needed to do their shared duty. Skills he had no problem with teaching to Peter, a fact the man known as Spider Man will forever be grateful for.
Those skills saved him more then once.
But at times like this, Peter couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated with himself, as Xero clearly didn't want him going after this rampaging child killer. That told Peter that his friend either believed he was too weak or unable to take on Caster or the man was really that powerful and or skilled. Just who the hell was this Caster guy and how did Xero know him?
Or was it something else entirely?
"If you're smart as master says you are, then you'll listen to him and steer clear of Caster."
Emyia suddenly said, giving Peter a stoic look. Before the boy could rebuke the Archer, he vanished in spirit form. Arthur merely gave Peter a sad smile, as he knew what Emyia really meant, having worked with the man for years now.
"Peter, believe me, you're a good person and hero. But trust us, when we say that Caster is someone you DO NOT want to mess with. You're abilities are unique and honestly, master wouldn't be able to do half of what you can do. Simply because of the unique nature of you're abilities and you're webs most of all. But that won't matter against someone like Caster. Please, there are just some people you cannot stand against and win, this is one of them. For the love of god Peter, don't try anything stupid of foolish, simply because you feel the need to prove yourself. You've already done that and more."
"But-"
"No buts."
Arthur cut off Peter and said in a more firm tone of voice,"Stay away form this one Peter and yes, that is an order form the king."
Just like Emyia, Arthur vanished and left Peter both frustrated and a little angry at Xero. Did he really think Peter couldn't himself and expect him to stand back, while innocent people, children died?
Hell no!
As Peter let himself out, his eyes narrowed.
"I don't have any leads and i highly doubt JARVIS will help, as either Xero or Mr. Stark probably forbid him form telling me anything. The captain probably won't tell me anything either and Daredevil isn't even looking for this guy. I don't think Asia or Ursula would help me, as Xero probably already told them, so they're out too. I haven't see Hawkeye around lately and Black Widow...yeah, she's too scary to ask. Which leaves me with..."
Peter sighed, as he knew there was only one person that he could go to, that would have the tracking skills he would need to track Caster down. He just wasn't looking forward to asking her.
"Well Parker, looks like you have to track down Black Cat, a thief that steals form other thieves, in order to track down a child serial killer that has Xero forbidding you form fighting. What a perfectly normal life you have Peter Parker."
As the brown haired boy talked to himself, he was unaware of a pair of eyes watching him. The eyes belonged to a man, decked out in a black cloak that completelyt covered his body and wore a white skull mask over his face.
"Hmmmm, it appears lord Magus was right and the boy, will go after Caster after all, despite his warnings. Hehe, things are heating up faster then we originally thought. Well lord Magus said to keep him out of trouble but only interfere, if he gets in over his head. Well, lets see how this will play out."
The two star Assassin, Hassan of the Cursed Arm, mused to himself as he sunk back into the shadows.
Done.
Just a short interlude and how Peter, Felicia and even MATT aka Daredevil will play a part in the battle of New York. And we known, the one killing kids is a Caster class Servant. That should be a pretty big tip off, to who the murder and Loki's ally really is. If you have seen any kind of Fate, then you known who it is and why, he is prefect for the role, as Loki's ally.
Devil out.
