A/N: the date was august 23rd 2012, chapter 677 had just come out, I was starting 11th grade in a few weeks, and I just need y'all to understand my frame of mind, lol. All I knew about Law was up until Caesar captured him and Luffy on punk hazard, and he was my favorite character. That image of chopper attached to his head was burned into my mind for YEARS I tell you, and I'm unbelievably impatient so I started writing my own fan theories and posting them here. I wanted law's back story IMMEDIATELY and I didn't care if I had to be the one to make it up. I never imagined his entire family and hometown was killed by amber lead, his crew was stashed away on an island located on top of an elephant, that he was a D descendant, that the pirate alliance would team up with marco… So when pieces started coming together and my questions were finally answered, I let this fall into the back of my mind as I went and lived my life for 10 years. Last time this was updated was 6/1/2013, chapter 709 was just released, Law and Luffy were on dressrosa and sabo hadn't been introduced yet, and I was moving on to my senior year of high school in a few months. THAT BEING SAID I'm tired of seeing it incomplete and decided to read it all and throw one last chapter together to be done with it.

Now then, I dare each and every on of you to read your old fanfics from 10 years ago! It's quite the laugh I tell you… don't have one yet? Write one! and then wait 10 years! Ahaha!

Long summary: Law is the most accomplished doctor in his childhood village at age 7, Doflamingo and his crew land there and Doffy is sick, unable to be treated on his ship because his own doctor is dead but Law diagnoses him when no one else could, so he's the only doctor allowed near him. Law's parents aren't too keen on it though and forbid him from seeing Doffy again because they know he's a PSYCHOPATH. Doffy doesn't like that and MURDERS HIS PARENTS then sets fire to the village and kidnaps lil Law. Good news is he doesn't have Amber Lead Syndrome. Vergo apparently doesn't join the navy and instead teaches Law how to fight by beating the shit out of him aboard Doffy's ship, Law's bullied by the crew, Doffy has a crush on Crocodile, Law tries to commit suicide (honestly I don't remember that part, yikes), Law finds lil Bepo at a circus and recruits him to the Mingo pirates. Law finally takes his revenge and blows up Doffy's ship only for the captain to survive and beat the shit out of him. For someone who doesn't like OCs, I put a lot of OCs in this. I made Doffy part of the revolutionary army? Wild. Fast forward to the future; Doflamingo is the one to convince Law to be a Shichibukai to complete his own evil scheme, he tells Law to cut out the hearts of his crew, along with several other high bounties, to present in order to be accepted. He reluctantly does as he's told, otherwise Doffy would brutally kill them all himself, and cuts out all their hearts with his ope ope no mi powers while everyone is having a lovely party celebrating their future voyage to the new world. Yes, even Bepo's heart.

HERE WE GO!

Seventeen-year-old Trafalgar Law sailed into Dressrosa on his personal cutter along with his navigator Bepo. They'd been out on a mission for Doflamingo to gather intelligence on a new Shichibukai named Moria and his possible connection with Dr. Hogback. Law had seen enough just wandering through the massive ship, strolling around undetected as he led himself through on a self-guided tour. When he eventually found out the guy populated his pirate staff with shadow-controlled dead bodies, he felt exceptionally nauseous at the thought.

Dr. Hogback was indeed on the ship doing some cock-eyed research even Law had a hard time stomaching, but nothing that seemed to threaten Doffy or any of his own underground schemes.

Law had been on the crew for close to ten years now, something he hadn't seen himself accomplishing, especially with the blood thirsty intention he had towards the enormous captain. It had taken a long time to build up enough trust in order to be able to set out on his own, more than anyone else in the crew had to work for. The day he was allowed to sail without any supervision, even hidden transponder snails and surveillance coos, had been a very liberating day. He'd thought about ditching the crew and finding his way back when he'd gotten stronger in order to finally kill Doflamingo for murdering his entire village, but then again it was safer to keep your enemies as close as possible.

Or so he'd been told.

"Law! Long time no see!" Buffalo announced with a laugh, his oversized buck teeth obstructing his words. "Did you bring me my gambling money?" He asked. Law glared at him.

"Go pull that shit on someone dumb enough to fall for it like Baby 5." Law shot back as he tied his boat to the docks then headed for Doflamingo's house.

"Law! This time I'm really going to kill you!" Baby 5 shouted as she suddenly came crashing from the sky, her arms turned into bazookas and pointed right at the teenage doctor.

"Law, look out!" Bepo shouted, watching in horror the closer the crazy woman got. At the last moment he jumped away, escaping the explosion as she also crashed into the ground.

"He was my finance and you and Doffy killed him!" She announced through tears, changing her bazookas into pistols and pointing them at him. He dodged each bullet effortlessly, approaching closer and closer until he was in her face.

"I found him trying to break into my pharmacy and kicked his ass. Doffy's the one who killed him." He replied, sending a knee into her gut. He then grabbed her wrist and spun around, taking hold of the waist of her skirt with his other hand and tossing her over his shoulder, slamming her into the ground.

"Behehehe, good to see you again, Law." The familiar voice of Trebol came from behind. When the doctor stood though, he flinched away.

"Trebol, you're too close." He muttered, stepping over Baby 5 to try and get some distance.

"We're not through, Law!" She announced, climbing to her feet.

Law sighed bitterly. It sure had been a quiet journey away from all these psychopaths.

"Baby 5, I need you." He said, giving the young woman a bored expression, his face not matching the words coming from his mouth. The docks were silent a moment before a blush dusted over her nose and cheeks.

"You… need me?" She asked wistfully. Law grimaced at her expression.

"Yeah, I need you to keep Trebol away from me." He finished, his tone bored as he walked past the three Donquixote pirates. "Come on, Bepo." Law stated, glad when only his navigator was following him.

"Come on, Law, that's not cool!" Trebol called out as Baby 5 did her best to keep the slimy man away from Law as Buffalo laughed at the spectacle.

Law rolled his eyes, hoping he didn't run into anymore overly friendly members of the family.

"Are you happy to be back?" Bepo asked when they were alone. Law narrowed his eyes, hating the feeling of being home. This place wasn't a home to him, not after what he'd been through losing his true home and true family. Doflamingo could amass whatever screwed up collection of weirdos he wanted, but Law wanted nothing to do with it.

So why was it so hard to leave?

When they got to the house, Law took every possible hallway that led away from running into anyone else in the family. His mood swings were legendary in this household, but he was feeling them even more now. This journey was long enough where he'd gone through a phase of homesickness and lonesomeness, but on the other hand he'd been on his most free roaming mission to date and the realization had been liberating. He was so torn between what was right and what was wrong, and he started to wonder if he just felt a connection to these people out of convenience. They fed him, clothed him, welcomed him in, but he never truly felt like he belonged. They did everything in their power to make it so, but in the end, he knew he was a tool of convenience for them.

Law approached Doflamingo's throne room, not looking forward to seeing the Heart Seat he kept turning down. It was one of the major reasons the DonQuixote family had such a hard time trusting him, because he refused the invitation time and time again.

He pushed the door open and found the familiar blond Shichibukai sitting at the window, looking out at his kingdom.

"Law, good to see you." He said, his grin growing wider as he turned to regard the other. Law didn't respond, instead closing the door behind himself and shutting Bepo out of the room. Doflamingo chuckled. "Have you had enough of your bear? Two weeks is certainly a long time. I've missed you." He stated, beckoning the young man over. Law paused a moment but ultimately did as he was told, walking over slowly. "Tell me all about it, Law. I've been dying to know since you refuse to take a transponder snail." He continued, reaching out a hand to trace a finger from Law's temple, down his cheek, ending under his chin. The doctor allowed the touch, but just barely.

"Moria and Hogback are working together like you thought, but nothing you need to concern yourself with." Law replied, jerking his head away when the older man started scratching under his chin like Law was a kitten.

"Oh? How do you mean?" He asked, patting a space next to him as an invitation for Law to share his spot on the window ledge. He frowned, reluctantly obliging and tried to ignore the arm that snaked around his waist to hold him close like a stuffed animal.

"They're into reanimating corpses and weird shit like that. They're no where near an army either and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Moria was the cause of his own downfall." Law elaborated. Doflamingo laughed.

"You sure have gotten feisty over these years." He murmured, caressing the tattoos on Law's hands. They were his only ones so far and it seemed pretty simple to put his jolly roger on his hands, the circular smiling face with the cross through it. Law allowed the touch with a glower, hoping the man would let him go soon.

Or send him on another mission far away.

"I have a present for you." Doflamingo stated, letting go of his hand. Law raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? What could it possibly be?" He asked, more annoyed than anything.

"Oh, come on. Guess." The blond man goaded. Law rolled his eyes.

"If it's jewelry or something stupid just give it to Sugar, I don't want it." He said bitterly, pulling the arm from his waist and standing up. Doflamingo laughed.

"Don't be so quick to dismiss." He chided, taking Law by the shoulders and leading him over to the heart seat where he sat him down. "Stay right there and close your eyes." He said with a mischievous grin. Law glared at him a moment before closing his eyes.

The man's footsteps slowly disappeared and the room remained quiet. Law wondered if he could open his eyes but as he was about to, the footsteps came back as Doflamingo walked back up to him.

"Alright, open your eyes."

Law did so and was met with a strange sight. He almost didn't recognize what it was since he'd never seen one in person before and looked at the man with confusion.

"A Devil Fruit?" He asked. "Why?"

Doflamingo chuckled, holding the thing up to his own sight line and inspected it.

"Not just any Devil Fruit, the Ope Ope No Mi." He explained. "I thought it was the most fitting for you, given your skills. It's said that if in the hands of a capable surgeon it can be used to cure any disease, cut out any malformity, and treat any ailment. With the slice of a blade and the right mindset you could split anything in two." He continued, watching Law's expression. Normally the teenager was extremely composed in his visage, but his poker face crumbled with every word Doflamingo spoke. His smile turned a touch evil at the sight.

"What's the catch?" Law asked when he finally managed to reel himself back to reality. The Shichibukai scoffed.

"You really think there's a catch? Come now, Law, I thought we were learning to trust one another." He replied, his tone sounding a touch betrayed. Law glared at him and stood up, then began walking for the exit without a word. He let him go for a moment, but as he reached for the handle Doflamingo spoke up.

"Take your own words. What was it you told me? In order to gain trust, you need to give trust?" He asked the younger pirate. Law weighed his options for a long moment, staring at the handle of the door as he contemplated what to do. He eventually turned around and decided to at least hear the guy out. Doflamingo was sitting on his windowsill again, beckoning the younger man to come back over.

Law obeyed.

He sat in the same spot, trying to ignore the arm that was once again wrapped around his waist as the Devil Fruit was handed to him. He hesitated, wondering if it was going to be some cruel joke, then accepted it. He turned the thing over in his hands, feeling the weight, the texture, the consistency. It didn't smell like anything, it didn't even feel like a piece of fruit. He snuck a glance at Doflamingo watching him inspect the item and wondered if it was really going to be this easy.

He lifted it to his mouth.

"Ah ah." Doflamingo stopped him with a chuckle. Law narrowed his eyes.

"I thought there wasn't a catch." He muttered, setting the thing is his lap. The older man tsked.

"Such a crass word. It's nothing more than a business proposal." He stated, tightening his grip around the doctor. "You see, I have this management problem, and you'd be the perfect addition." He explained, indicating the empty Heart Seat with his free hand. Law glared at it. "And I know you've turned it down before, but I have a feeling this time might be different."

Law wanted to throw the stupid fruit at the seat, kick Doflamingo in the nuts, and storm out of the room waving his middle fingers. He wanted to take Bepo and his cutter and get as far away from this place as possible. He wanted to burn down Doflamingo's house, destroy his manufacturing plants, and annihilate his empire.

"You said it could cut anything?" He asked thoughtfully.

"So I'm told." Doflamingo replied. Law thought it over, taking an extra amount of time to make it look good and convincing.

"I'll do it."

Doflamingo closed one eye, looking out across the patio at his pool shimmering in the sunlight. He then closed that eye and opened the other one, seeing the empty four seats of his commanding officers. He sighed, wondering where his mouth had ended up and tried moving his hand. He wondered if he could use his string powers to pull himself together, but that troublemaking punk had done a heck of a job scattering his pieces.

However many he'd been cut into.

"Doffy!" A shout came from wherever his ear had ended up. "Don't worry, Doffy! I can't find my legs, but I'll get you back in one piece in no time!" The voice said. It sounded like Buffalo as he felt the man pick up his ear. He could feel a few other of his bits getting jostled around, so maybe he'd be back together quicker than he imagined.

He furrowed his eyebrows, wondering if they were still attached to his eyes or if they'd managed to get sent somewhere else as well.

What happened if he was put together incorrectly? Would he be able to be disassembled and reassembled at whim? If not, Law would have a lot more to talk with him about. In the meantime, as his family and his crew worked to collect all his scattered parts, he started imagining all the horrible things he'd do the next time the two of them met.

A/N: I never did find out what doffy's plan was going to be for making Law cut out his crews' hearts. Probably something about world domination… oh well.

Let this be a lesson that anything is possible. I started writing this when I was 16 and now look where we are… super cool to think about. If you're an original reader, thank you for sticking with me. If you're fortunate enough not to have to wait a decade for an update, then it's been a pleasure having you.
