Their Guardian
10. Class Rep and Intruder

Warning: Their will be course language and elements of blood as the story progresses
A new day, a new time for school. After the events of mock battle training, it would seem a lot of the students of 1-A all had a bit of an appreciation over each other and their respective Quirks, or lack thereof for some people.
After it was revealed about Jason's Quirkless nature, to say that he was more than a little worried about what the others would think of him left him a bit restless till it was time for him to go back to school. On the way back to their class though, Izuku, being the bro that he was to Jason, still showed his support to his fellow Quirkless friend and said how he was still ready to support him no matter what happened. Although he did mention how Jason was overreacting and their classmates weren't going to do anything bad to him and all. Jason still felt skeptical about the whole thing and still preferred to heir on the side of caution due to past experiences.
Turns out, his paranoia was unfounded. Bakugo kept his mouth shut about the… incident, still glaring daggers at Jason as he usually does, but the rest of the class were whole fully supportive of Jason's attempts at being a hero. While he may have felt that a couple of them may be pitying him just a little, it's a radically different feeling from them compared to how he was used to getting treated.
It's a good feeling he has considering all the times he's had to deal with people and them either pitying him for his lack of Quirk or outright bullying because of the same reason.
Even so, with the new day as always starting has got him well and truly ready to continue his hero studies, especially now that he doesn't have to worry about keeping his Quirkless nature a secret.
At least he was ready, same with his classmates until they made it to the gate of the school.
What greeted them was a mob.
A paparazzi mob. Dozens of cameramen and women, reporters, newscasters, all kinds of people with recording equipment and microphones all huddled around the gate of the school.
"Hey, you! Can you tell us what it's like to work so closely with All Might?!"
And each one of them are huddled around the students as they try to get any and all of their questions answered by the students of All Might.
"U-u, sorry, I have to go to the, uh, the nurse's office! Yeah, right away!" A flustered and very surprised Izuku tries to divert himself away from the reporters as he quickly backs his way out from them and into the school's gates.
That's how it goes for most of students of class 1-A. As soon as the reporters figure out which of the students entering U.A. are in All Might's class they swarm them with questions for the past few days. Some take it pretty calmly and lightly, such as Uraraka who simply describes the hero's appearance; some wanting to just get inside, such as Izuku; others take it a bit too far in answering the question, which was Iida who gave an emboldened and impassioned speech about the Number one hero and how it feels to be a student of such a magnificent hero… which the reporters quickly grew tired and bored of. Others, with a prime example being Bakugo, just either ignored them, or in his case, subtly threatened them and walked off.
"Please, sir. Can you get All Might for us? Also, you look like a mess, what's your deal?" It got so bad that reporters were just tired and desperate for anything they can learn about the hero. Even Aizawa walked out to try to keep the reporters from messing with his students anymore.
"All Might's not on campus today. Now get outta here, you've disturbed my students enough already." Aizawa shoos them away before turning around and walking away without any retort.
"But my viewers wanna know how he's adjusting to life as a teacher!" The leader reporter lady demands, along with a couple other reporters commenting about the familiarity of Eraserhead but being unsure.
'How does All Might ever get anything done with this media circus stepping on his cape?' Aizawa comments in his head as he walks back to his head.
"Hey! Move it!" A voice catches his attention as he looks back at the crowd of reporters as theirs some shuffling, along with the lead reporter being very angry at the lack of response she's been getting.
"All right! If you won't bring All Might out, I'll—!"
"No wait!"
"Out of the way! I'm going to be late for class!"
*BEEEEEEEERRRR*
Just as the lead reporter lady steps towards the gate, someone bursts forth from the crowd of reporters just as her partner tries to stop her. An alarm goes off on the gate and the security system activates. "Watch it!" She's grabbed and pushed back away from the rising steel wall. Just before she falls back she watches as another student of U.A. is momentarily carried up by the gate before he manages to roll himself over onto the other side.
"Oof! Ow!" Jason mutters painfully as he lands roughly on the ground, rolling for a second before getting back onto his hands and knees. Despite nearly getting crushed, he looks up and stares at the large steel doors now covering the gate of U.A. with the alarm going off as well. "Huh, so that's U.A.'s security system. That would have gone worse." He comments as he pushes himself to his feet.
"Takeda." He turns when his name is called out, allowing him to see Mister Aizawa jog up to him. "Are you okay?" His tone may be as dull as it always Is but theirs still a hint of concern in his voice at the well-being of his student.
"Yeah, all good sir." Jason rolls his shoulder once before reaching down and grabbing his backpack. "Besides one reporter having almost gotten the both of us killed, I'm alright."
"Good." Aizawa mutters before looking back at the now closed gate. "The security system should keep them out, and you were the last student in my class to enter the school. So let's get going." He turns about and begins to walk inside.
"Yes sensei." Jason replies and walks alongside his teacher to their classroom.
"Strange, usually you enter the school with Midoriya." Aizawa comments, much to Jason's chagrin.
"Yeah sorry. Had to do something before I left home. I missed the first train but I knew I could make it to school with the second train if I ran."
"Hmm."
Jason lets out a sigh as he remains silent. In truth, he wasn't able to get as much sleep as he wanted so he slept in by accident. After the fiasco with Bakugo and he was walking home, he still got the feeling that he was being followed and looked at by someone. The feeling persisted till he got home and was on edge for the most of the night.
Still, he's back in school and ready to continue as how things are, preferably without the reporters hounding everyone. Just one day of class with All Might and suddenly it's a media firestorm.
There is no distractions as they make it back to class and Aizawa gets to work in reigning his students in, as well as talking about the previous days combat.
"Decent work on yesterday's combat training, you guys." Aizawa tells his students. "I saw the video feeds and went over each of your team's results. Bakugo." He calls out the short-tempered student. He grunts at the attention as Aizawa looks at him. "You're talented. So don't sulk like a child about your losses, okay?"
Bakugo grunts under his breath, momentarily glancing to Jason on the other side of the room. However he doesn't see a glare coming Jason as he was expecting, but just a neutral look as he was sporting, not really wanting to antagonize him over what's happened, especially in their instructors presence. "Tch, yeah whatever." Bakugo grumbles and looks away.
"And Midoriya." Izuku sits rigid at his turn being called out, as well as Jason paying just a bit more attention to what the man says about his best friend. "I see the only way you won the match was by messing up your arm again." Izuku looks down at the unfortunate fact. "Work harder, and don't give me the excuse that you don't have control over your Quirk. That lines already getting old." Izuku looks down even more at his teachers blunt words. "You can't keep breaking your body while training here." Aizawa's stern look softens a little as he continues. "But your Quirk will be really useful if you can get a handle on it." This lifts the green haired boys spirits. "So show a little urgency, huh?"
"Hm, right!"
Aizawa nods before turning to the other side of the room. "Takeda." Jason sits straight, staring at his sensei as he is now the focus. "Your smart, your strong, and you were able to win your battle despite being outnumbered and not having a Quirk." In any other situation Jason would smile at the praise, but due to someone like Aizawa, he keeps his expression the same as he senses more to what the man is going to say. "But willingly going in alone was incredibly stupid. You've already proven yourself capable when you didn't come last in my Quirk test on the first day. Just because you're Quirkless doesn't mean the world is against you anymore. You're not alone. Just as you try to help out Midoriya, work with your fellow classmates so they can help you just as you can help them." Aizawa slowly but firmly, a focused look boring holes straight into Jason's eyes.
Jason is also staring back at the man but doesn't show any anger or annoyance towards the teacher, knowing full well that what he is saying is in fact the truth. "Yes, sir. I understand." He gives a small smile and nods back at the man, eliciting a smile from his best friend and a scoff from his enemy.
Aizawa nods before looking back at the rest of the class. "Now, let's get down to business. Our first task will decide your future." Everyone looks on attentively, now awake and wondering just what daunting task their teacher has for them that will in fact decide their future.
"You all need to pick a class representative."
Everyone breaths a sigh of relief at the normal school activity.
Everyone is collectively relieved that after all the craziness they've experienced so far in school, its nice to actually do something that's normal school related for once. Almost immediately several students begin raising their hands above their heads, or straight up stand and either demand or convince everyone they should vote for them, wanting nothing more than to have themselves named as the class representative amidst all the shouting.
Although Jason finds it just a little bit annoying considering Mina decides to use him as leverage to go higher as she raises her hand high up, with her other hand pressing onto the back of Jason's head and making stare down at his desktop.
"Silence, everyone, please!" On top of all the shouting, it's Iida who's the most vocal and gets everyone to be silent. "The class representative's duty's is to lead others. That's not something just anyone can do. You must first have the trust of every student in the classroom. Therefore, the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader!" While Iida gives a much impassioned speech as to what embodies the class rep, the fact he has his hand raised speaks volumes as for his desire to be picked.
"It's pretty obvious you want us to vote for you." Nearly everyone in the class says all at once. Iida 'tch's' at that and sits down in embarrassment.
"… Get… off." After a few seconds, a slightly muffled and incredibly annoyed voice can be heard. Everyone looks to see Mina still holding Jason's head down.
"Ah!" Mina yelps and sits back down in her seat real quick. "I'm so sorry about that! Guess I just got a little carried away." Mina nervously states with a nervous chuckle.
Jason however just cranes his head back up, an annoyed scowl on his face as he rubs his neck, a small 'crack' can be heard as he pops his neck. He turns his head to glare at Mina out of the corner of his eye. "… I'm not voting for you."
"Ohhhh, that's fair." Mina moans in defeat as she slumps the top half of her body on her desk, disappointed in herself at how easily she just lost a potential vote.
Not that Jason was going to vote for her to begin with but still.
"Is this really the best idea?" Kaminari asks out loud to everyone.
"We've only known each other a few days. How do we know who we can trust?" Asui asks after.
"Besides, everyone'll just vote for themselves." Kirishima also brings up a good point but Iida is ready to rebuke what the others have said.
"Most people will. But that means whoever does receive multiple votes must truly be the most suitable person for the job."
"Considering we've only known each other for a few days, the person that does get multiple votes speaks volumes for their character if they can impress people in such a short amount of time." Jason adds on to what Iida is saying.
"Right! Thank you!" Iida thanks him with a single hand-chop in his direction before turning to their teacher, who is zipping himself up in his yellow sleeping bag. "It's the best way, right, sir?"
"Do what you want, just decide before my nap's over." Aizawa states plainly before collapsing to the ground and falling asleep.
"Thank you for your trust!"
'I don't think it was trust, more like he just wants us to get this over with.' Jason thinks as he sees the snoozing teacher.
With the idea of how to choose their class rep, many of the different students silently contemplate on who they are to vote for. Most of them continue to go with the idea of voting for themselves, however there is at least a few people who were touched by the words earlier and see the reasoning behind them.
As they all contemplate who to choose as their class representative, Jason stares at his sheet of paper and gets a thoughtful look on his face as he thinks carefully. 'Okay Jason, who do you think is deserving of the position of class representative?' A few people go through his mind as he thinks of the candidates. 'First choice: Izu. He's always been level-headed, thinks ahead, cares about others and has always been a general good person… but I don't think he would like being in the spotlight. Iida's another good choice. He's focused, knows the rules of the school like the back of his hand, and will most likely appreciate the authoritative position he could be in to showcase his skills. Then again, he might take his job a little too seriously and way too gung ho about the whole thing. Yaoyorozu is another choice. Insanely smart and got in on recommendations so she's had people vouch for her position to be here… but she doesn't really strike me as the people person type deal, which is what the position would most likely entail. I don't know I could be reading too much into this…' With a sigh, Jason shrugs his shoulders and writes the name down. 'Sorry Izu, you may not like the spotlight but think of this as practice for when you become the number one hero. You're going to be in the spotlight all the time when that happens. Better start early.' He nods, making sure no one sees him writing the name down, especially one nosey pinky sitting behind him, who he feels their eyes on him.
He suddenly twists his head to the side, looking behind him. Mina is leaning way too much over her desk to get a look at Jason's votes. She flinches at the sudden action before quickly getting back into her seat, idly whistling like everything is alright in the world as she scribbles her choice of name down.
Jason lets out a growl and goes to hand his vote in, followed by the rest of his classmates as they finish. Once everyone is done, they tally up the votes for their candidates, with Yaoyorozu writing the names down and the number of votes they got.
The numbers are not surprising to some, but definitely a surprise to more than a few.
"How?" Jason mutters in confusion as he stares at the board.
"How did I get three votes?!" His best friend Izuku mutters loudly, shaking like leaf. Jason can only blink his eyes and stare at the top people on the list.
Takeda Jason – 4
Midoriya Izuku – 3
Yaoyorozu Momo – 2
With the rest of the classes names being either one or zero.
Of course that's not what Jason is focusing on but more on the fact he somehow WON.
"Okay you idiots, who voted for them?!" A look of annoyance crosses Jason's as Bakugo can't help but speak up loudly and angrily, even getting up from his seat as he does.
"What, did you honestly think anyone was gonna vote for you?" Sero can't help but ask Bakugo, which earns him an angry tirade from the explosive blond.
Jason shakes his head at the attitude, but is also a little satisfied at seeing the others not even being fazed by Bakugo's yelling.
"Congratulations!" Jason has to suppress a yelp as Mina smacks his back with a loud slap in congratulations. "You deserve it."
"Heh, thanks Mina." Jason replies as he turns to the rest of the class. Soon Bakugo is done with his yelling as he gets nowhere with everyone not taking him seriously. "Okay, now that we've calmed down, I have to ask. Without the death threat," He glances to Bakugo as he says that, eliciting a 'tch' from the loud blonde. "Seriously who voted for me?" He has to ask. He doesn't really feel like he left that much of an impression to warrant the votes, at the same time he really doesn't like the idea of the others having voted for him purely out of pity for being Quirkless.
A few hands raise up from a couple of surprising sources: Asui, Sero, and Yaoyorozu, much to Jason's surprise on the last person. "How…? I don't…"
"Remember back when we were taking Aizawa's crazy Quirk test on the first day of school?" Sero starts off first and begins to speak with a grin, much to the anger of Bakugo who glowers at him. "You came and asked me for some tape? Then Asui and I saw you go about collect some other things from some of our other classmates, and for what? To help Midoriya with his broken finger." Izuku gets a sheepish look on his face as he remembers that while Jason gets a look of realization. "Seeing you do that for your friend so quickly and easily immediately put you as a smart but good person in my book. I think you would make a pretty good class representative when I thought about it for a bit."
Jason gets a thoughtful look at that before turning his head to look at Asui. "Call me Tsu." She straight up say as she looks to Sero before turning back to Jason. "It wasn't just that you were nice to your best friend that made me vote for you. On top of being nice and caring, you're also pretty smart from the way how you handled yourself during the Quirk test, and how you also figured out how best to use some of our Quirks in order to help Midoriya." Sero gets a large grin on his face, Yaoyorozu looks away with a small blush while Todoroki looks indifferent. "Then when we fought in the mock battle you weren't just trying to act big in front of everyone by going alone, but you actually won despite being outnumbered. If you can back your skills in the combat, I think you can do good as our representative too." She finishes explaining. Everyone just looks at her stunned for a second before turning back to Jason. He stares at her with wide eyes before clearing his throat and nodding at her. He decides to wait for everyone to finish speaking before saying what's on his mind. He turns to Yaoyorozu, who looks away for a second before staring right back at him.
"When I first saw you enter the mock battle area, I thought you were some hot headed student who was, as Asui said—"
"Tsu."
"Tsu said you were trying to act big by going in outnumbered voluntarily. I thought you were going to lose badly… but I was wrong." She looks away. "You weren't boasting when you went in. You know your limitations and strengths and that helped you win." She looks back at him with a small fire in her eyes. "That's why I voted for you because I truly believe you might be the best option to lead our class as our representative." She finishes speaking with a small smile on her face, along with Sero and Asui nodding along with her.
Jason just stares at her, as well as the others stunned and surprised by their reasoning for voting for him "Oh, wow, thank you." Jason thanks them with a genuine smile on his face, a little touched at the reasoning behind all of them and not one mentioning about him being Quirkless, all about stuff he himself did, not what he is.
Of course the moment doesn't last long for him as soon their teacher is up and about, calling for the top two students from the election to be at the front of the class.
"Alright, the class rep is Takeda, and are deputy is Midoriya." While Jason is only a little nervous about being in the front, his friend is still slightly shivering.
"Are we sure this isn't a mistake?" Izuku asks quietly.
"The numbers don't lie man." Jason tells his friend with a small head shake.
"I'm glad he's our class rep." Asui says with a finger pressed to her chin.
"Yeah I can get behind with those two up there." Kirishima comments with a smile.
"Considering how close friends those two are, I can see them coming up with some great plans for our class." Sero adds.
"Ohhh, I was so close to." Yaoyorozu sulks a little in her seat as she realizes if she hadn't voted for Jason, she, him and Izuku would have gotten a three-way tie for the positions, with her having the opportunity to either being class rep, or deputy.
Todoroki meanwhile just sighs at the developments, not really caring about the whole thing but just glad its done.
Minutes later, the school day has progressed and everyone is now in the cafeteria. The lunch room is bustling with people, all chatting happily and eating like any other day at U.A.
Iida is steadily eating his food while Ochaco is beaming with happiness as she eats her delicious food. Jason and Izuku are slowly eating theirs but not with as much enthusiasm as the others.
"Hey, are you guys okay?" Ochaco speaks up, getting them out of their funk and looking at her. "You hardly touched your meals." She points out. They both look down at their bowls of food with only a few bites taken out of them.
"Sorry. It's just… we're still coming to terms with the fact that we are the class rep and deputy for the whole thing." Jason mutters.
"We weren't really expecting to get any votes so we're still a little surprised by the whole thing." Izuku adds. "I'm still not sure about the whole thing. I don't think I'm cut out for it. Despite what you might say!" Izuku immediately adds, pointing his chopsticks at Jason as he cuts him off mid-breath.
"Mmm." Jason grumbles and looks away, knowing he was caught.
"Oh c'mon, I'm sure you're qualified." Ochaco says to him with a nod from Jason.
"You'll be great." Iida says in a serious tone, getting Izuku and Jason's attention since they know he was one of the people who wanted to have the position as class rep. "Your courage and quick thinking under stress will make you a worthy leader." Iida continues saying as he stares at Izuku. "Not to mention the strength you demonstrated. Those are the reasons I voted for you at least."
"Hm?" Jason mutter with a mouth full of food at Iida's admittance.
"You were one of the three?" Izuku asks in surprise.
"Didn't you wanna be rep really badly?" Ochacho points out bluntly. "I mean you do look the part, because of the glasses."
'That's not how we choose our rep.' Jason and Izuku think at the same time on the girls reasoning.
Iida takes a sip of his drink with closed eyes and he speaks. "Wanting a job and being suited to it are quite different things. Observing the Iida family hero agency has taught me that much."
That last line gets Jason's attention as he stares at the glasses wearing student. "Your family's agency?" He questions out loud, much to the agreement of the others in their group.
"Hold on, what does your family do?" Izuku asks for clarification.
This makes Iida nervous as he sputters a little. "Oh! It's… I… uhhh… It's nothing." He tries to deflect the attention.
"You know, I've wondering something about you." Ochaco begins to say in curiosity before smiling at him. "Admit it Iida, you're filthy rich!" Ochaco bluntly and straight up tells the boy.
Iida looks surprised like he's been caught red-handed. This gets Jason thinking as he remembers one other little bit of information from their first day in class. "Come to think of it," Jason begins to say, getting their attention as he gets a thoughtful look on his face. "If I remember correctly when you were introducing yourself to Bakugo, you went to Somei Private Academy, right?" At the way Iida stiffens up and looks away, Jason smiles as he knows he's right. "That's not your average school to go to. Private schools are expensive and Somei's one of the big ones isn't it?" Jason asks him with a smirk. Remembering that small bit of information, Ochaco and Izuku are now staring at Iida with renewed curious awe in their eyes.
Eventually Iida sighs in failure. "I was afraid people would treat me differently if they knew about my family." And just like that all three of them have their eyes placed firmly on Iida, waiting for him to elaborate. He lets out a sigh and speaks, "You see, the Iida's have been pro-heroes for generations. It runs in our blood."
"What?! That's so awesome!" Both Izuku and Ocahco exclaim in awe at the news.
"Generations…" Jason mutters quietly, realizing that the person next to him is essentially a hero prodigy.
Iida smiles as he turns to them. "Are you three familiar with the turbo hero: Ingenium?" He asks.
Jason smirks and looks at his best friend, "I know all about him!" Jason lightly chuckles at his friends enthusiasm. "He's a super popular pro with 65 sidekicks working alongside him in his Tokyo agency!" Just as he says that, Izuku gets a realization about something. "Don't tell me…" Jason already has an idea as to what the glasses wearing boy is talking about but its good to listen and hear the confirmation.
Iida smiles and gets a confident stature about him. "He's my elder brother!"
"Your familys famous!"
"I can't believe it!"
"Wow. Your elder brother. Nice." Ochaco, Izuku and Jason all compliment him.
"Ingenium is an unmatched commander who honors the hero code." Iida is just oozing with pride as he speaks about his brother. "As the second-oldest Iida son, I strive to be just like him." His prideful look eases up a little as he relaxes now. "However, I think it might be a bit soon for me to be in a real leadership role. You two, for example." He smiles at both Jason and Izuku. "You both figured out what the judges were looking for in the practical exam. A class rep needs that sort of insight. The same sort of cunning and wisdom that allowed the both of you to pass the practical exam and the mock battles despite the odds stacked against the both of you." He confidently and assuredly tells them, although he gets a little confused at the slight surprised looks on their faces.
"Huh, well what do you know. He can smile." Jason jests good heartedly comments.
"Yeah, I think that's the first time I've seen you smile, Tenya. You should do it more." Ochaco bluntly states, making Iida look at her in confusion.
"What are you talking about? I smile all the time." This gets a chuckle from both Ochaco and Jason, much to Iida's further confusion while Izuku smiles and thinks, realizing how Iida wants to be a hero like his brother Ingenium, while Izuku wants to be a hero like his favorite hero All Might.
"Wow, Iida. Looks like we aren't that different." Jason begins to say, accidentally cutting off his friend.
"Really? What makes you say that?" Iida asks, gaining
"I didn't want people to judge me based on the fact I was Quirkless right off the bat. You didn't want people to judge you based on your family's legacy." Jason says matter-a-fact. "Different reasons but essentially the same: we wanted people to judge us on us, not on anything else out of control." He finishes saying and takes a bite of his soba. After having to quickly learn on how to make the dish he realized he has taken a liking to it when he had to do taste tests for his meals for Todoroki. At that thought he glances to the side and sees said red and white haired boy in the corner of the lunchroom, eating out of the bento box Jason gave to him. He smiles at that.
"That's true." Iida mutters in surprise, apparently astonished by the revelation. "To think we started off as bitter acquaintances that go to the same school when in reality we are more alike than we thought." The others chuckle a little at the shocked look on Iida's face.
As Jason thinks about it, he realizes he never found out who was the last person to vote for him.
"But wait, I'm curious about something. I never found out who was the fourth person to vote for me? I know I didn't vote for myself." He asks confused 'Then again, Bakugo was making quite a scene at threatening the others on who voted for us so I'm not surprised at least one person wasn't willing to raise their hand and—'
"Uhh, Jakkun…"
"Hm?" Jason questions at his friend right next to him, only to be surprised when he see's Izuku holding his hand up. "Hold up… you? Izu you voted for me?" He asks confused.
"Well, yeah of course." Izuku begins to say sheepishly before he starts to get a little conviction in his voice. "I've known you for most of my life so I can vouch for how great a person you are. You've always been so kind and caring to me, helping me out whenever you can. Plus you've always been so very brave whenever people would bully… you." He looks away as he almost whispers the last part to him, implying the bullying on the both of them for all the years. Jason subtly nods at that before staring as Izuku continues. "And no matter how many times people or just life in general gets you down, you always get back up to help me, no matter what." He then proceeds to stare at Jason with a fierce look. "That's why if there's anyone I know personally who has the skills to take up the position as class representative, then I know you won't do us wrong." He finishes with a smile.
Just like before, Jason is stunned by the words and conviction that his longtime childhood friend has said about him, eliciting a smile from him as well before scratching the back of his head. "Well, damn. Seriously Izu you're gonna make cry talking like that." They both get a chuckle at Jason saying that before he gets a weird look. "Thanks I guess just… this is kind of awkward." Izuku tilts his head to the side in confusion. "Well I uhhh… I was one of the people who voted for you."
"… Ehh?! Me?! But why would you think—"
"Oh don't give me that crap." Jason immediately cuts off his friend with a point and an annoyed look. "You may be shy and meek Izu but damnit if I haven't seen you as one of the most determined person I have ever met in my entire life. No matter what life throws at YOU, even if I try to help when I can, you have always been the one to keep going no matter how the odds are stacked against you." They both get knowing look on what Jason is saying now. "So if their was anyone I know who could have the drive, the feeling, AND the skills in order to run the class, then I thought of no one better to run for class representative than you." He finishes saying before pressing a finger to Izuku's chest. Just like before, only now this time its Izuku staring at his friend in awe at his words to him now. After a moment, they both smile at one another, realizing that the two of them have placed as the leaders for their class. "Guess it's only fitting that the two of us be in this together huh?"
"Always has been."
They both smile at that.
Izuku gets a look of remembrance on his face as he looks to Iida. "Hey Iida, so about that practical exam—"
*EEEEERRRRRR*
Nearly all the students jump up as an alarm goes off in the school. "What's that?!" Izuku asks out loud in surprise and so is Jason. Suddenly, an automated voice goes off alongside it.
"Warning: Level 3 security breach! Please evacuate the building in an orderly fashion!"
Despite the voice trying to calm everyone, once the announcement is done the entire cafeteria is in an uproar and people immediately begin trying to head out. While Iida tries to talk to another fellow student, Jason grabs his shield off his back and straps it to his arm, on edge and ready just in case. "We need to get moving now." Jason quickly tells the others. Once they learn of and its cemented the fact that for the first time in years someone has actually breached U.A.'s security barrier, this gets everyone moving. Everyone moving.
The group of four friends try to go through the main doors of the cafeteria to exit but so does everyone else in the lunch room do the same as well. All most immediately they are pushed and shoved around amidst the tiddle wave of students rather roughly.
"Hey! Watch it!" Jason shouts in frustration as he's pushed through the hallway by force. "Izu!" Jason calls out for his friend as he watches the forms of Izuku, Ochaco and Iida disappear further down the hallway.
"Jakkun!" Izuku calls out as he's pulled away.
"Damnit! Ow! Quit shoving!" Jason shouts as he's tossed around and almost slammed against a wall. He uses his shield to try to leverage his way through the crowd. "Arh! Wait! Stop! Aahhh!" Jason tries to shove his way out but he's suddenly pushed back even harder. He has no means to brace himself before he falls back, first slamming into something, then it gives way and he falls back further. Grunts and cries of pain and surprise escape Jason as he suddenly finds himself tumbling down a set of stairs. It all comes to an abrupt halt as he suddenly hits a flat floor, only to stop as his back hits a wall and the back of his head smacks a plastered wall. He groans in pain as he immediately curls forward, gripping the back of his head painfully in order to stave off the pain. After a few seconds he lets out small grunt as he slowly relaxes, letting his arms fall to his sides as he sits up. "… Ow… stupid…" He grunts as he pushes himself up to his knees. Its now that he realizes his shield was able to stay attached to his arm as he fell, although he has to adjust it a little to be more comfortable after the tumble he just took. Now that he's no longer spinning roughly down some stairs, he looks and takes a gander at the stairs he so eloquently went down. At the top is a door slightly ajar with a small window on it, showing and slightly able to hear the continuous stampede of students going down the hall. "Gee… thanks people, thank you sooooo much." He sarcastically states with venom in his voice as he gets to his feet.
*crash*
A small noise of rustling can be heard to Jason. Despite the sounds of students panicking, he glances to the side, down the next set up steps to another slightly ajar door. "What the…?" He mutters in confusion as more rustling, almost frantically, can be heard down below. Jason glances up the stairs then back down a couple times before curiosity wins out for him as he slowly makes his way down. 'Maybe I can find a faculty member. Hopefully they'll have an idea as to what's going on.' He thinks as he makes it to the bottom step. He very carefully pushes open the door, noting the darkness in the room and the frantic shuffling noises in the room. He is immediately put on edge at the whole situation and widens his stance, bending his knees as he brings his shield up in front of him as he steps in. He first steps into a small darkened hallway with white walls, just like the rest of the school, and finds himself coming up on a much large room. It's some type of archives room where there are a lot of shelves with boxes full of papers and documents, same with filing cabinets as well. Theirs seems to be a few computers left in the room as well, with one of them being occupied.
Jason strains as he tries to get a good look at the figure but is having trouble actually making out a person. All he does see is a computer lit up and on, with a dark figure hunched over and frantically typing away at the keyboard. "There." A deep voice can be heard from in front of the computer.
"What are you doing?"
Just as Jason asks that, the figure jerks up quickly. Jason's earlier readiness is cracked as amidst the dark shadowy figure, two bright yellow eyes turn and glare at him hatefully. Just like that Jason's senses go into overdrive as he grips his shield tighter. "I'll ask again: what are you doing?!" He asks more forcefully this time. The figure doesn't say anything, instead staring at him as it seems to reach to the side in the air. Jason is confused by that until he hears something to his left and—
*Smack*
"Alright then, now that all the mess is done with. It's time for the class rep and their deputy to start setting things up for the class. First order of business." Aizawa states in his usual tired voice.
"But wait," Izuku begins to say, gaining everyones attention, "Jakkun's not here." He says as he stares at his empty seat, along with a few other students taking note as well.
"Ha! The mutt probably ran away as soon as he heard the loud noises." Bakugo says in a snarky tone and a wry smile. More than a few students glare at him at his comment.
"He could have gotten hurt." Ochaco proposes. "We did get separated when everyone was running."
"Yes, I concur." Iida adds on, adjusting his glasses as he does. "When we were separated I just barely saw him get shoved around by the other students." He informs before staring at their teacher. "At least a few students were required to go to nurses off after the alarms were turned off."
This gets a slightly worried look from Izuku. "Sensei—!"
"Yes you can go to the nurses office to check." Aizawa drones out, knowing full well what Izuku was going to request.
"Thank you!" He quickly gets out before sprinting out the door.
"Just to the nurses and back. No detou—" Aizawa begins to say.
"JAKKUN!"
Just like that, with the loud cry of fear from Izuku from the hallway, Aizawa's instincts kick-in. Making his tired demeanor shift into gear at the sudden noise from his student outside his classroom. He bolts from behind the podium, his speed betraying his usual tiredness as he makes it to the door as the rest of his students begin to get up from their seats and get worried looks about them.
"Mr. Aizawa Sensei!" Izuku cries out again just as said teacher makes it to the door. Looking to the right, he spots Izuku hunched over a form laying on the ground next to the wall to his classroom. He sprints to them and almost immediately he recognizes his missing student lying face down on the floor.
"Step back." His training kicks in and Aizawa kneels next to a worried Izuku. Very carefully he grabs onto Jason and rolls him onto his back. He does a quick assessment of the unconscious student and is happy to see that the only injury he sees to him is the just a small bruise and cut to the side of his head.
"Whoa what happened to him?" Aizawa's head snaps up at the voice and sees several of his students peering out the door to his classroom.
"Get back inside and stay inside until I come back." He tells his students in a firm but serious voice.
"But—"
"Now!" This time he yells and activates his Quirk, making them shriek and go back in. He groans as he turns off his Quirk and looks at Izuku. "You too, Midoriya." When he says this, a conflicted look crosses Izuku's face as he looks down at his friend. "It's alright." Aizawa begins to say as he picks up Jason. "I'm going to take him to nurses office. Once he wakes up I'll find out what happened to him. Just stay in class and don't answer the door until I get back, okay?"
Izuku gulps as his teacher tells him this but he nods nonetheless. "Yes, sensei." Without another word, Aizawa holds Jason tightly and sprints down the hallway towards where Recovery Girl is while Izuku looks on worriedly one last time before heading back to class and shutting the door.
"Ahhhhh…" Jason begins to murmur in pain as begins to regain consciousness.
"Easy does it deary." An elderly womans voice can be heard to him. Jason's vision is blurry a little as his eyes flutter open but soon they regain focus. It takes him a second but he manages to recognize the nurses office he is in. A look to his right he sees Recovery Girl giving him a smile. Slowly and carefully he pushes himself up until he is sitting.
"Owww…" Jason groans as he presses his hand to the side of his head, feeling the bandage wrapped around his head. "What happened?"
"We were hoping you would tell us."
Jason turns to his left and now realizes theirs two other people with him in the room. "Mr. Aizawa? Mr. Mic?"
"Glad to see you up kiddo!" Present Mic loudly proclaims, making Jason wince at the loudness of his voice.
"What did I say about the volume?" Aizawa asks his friend, an annoyed tick on his head at his friends quick disregard of his earlier warning.
"Oops. Sorry, kid." Present Mic apologizes embarrassingly.
"It's okay sir." Jason blinks the pain away before taking a look around the room.
"As I was saying earlier, we were hoping you could tell us how you got injured." Aizawa states.
"Because of the breach scare earlier, I had to heal several students after some of them got trampled or crushed a little from their fellow students. Some fractured bones, bruises here and there." Recovery Girl explains from her place at her desk before she looks curiously at Jason. "But I hadn't had to deal with anyone with an injury to their head, nor in the same way you were found." Jason gives her a confused look.
"Midoriya and I found you outside our classroom." Aizawa begins to speak. "You weren't there when everyone else made it to the room, which means you stumbled there injured sometime after everyone had already cleared out." He leans forward and stares intently at Jason. "That's why I want you to try to remember exactly what happened so we can figure out exactly you got injured… and by who."
As he says that, Jason tries to take a moment to remember how he got his injury. "First thing I remember, we were exiting the cafeteria when the alarm went off… but the crowd of people was too much and we were pushed hard down the hallways… and I got separated from Izu, Ocahco and Iida. Are they—?"
"Yes they are fine. They were able to figure out what was going on and calmed the crowd down when it was just reporters that broke in." Aizawa quickly informs him before he freaks out.
"Oh, good! I'm glad." Jason replies in relief, happy to hear his friends are okay and unharmed.
"Did you get hurt from the crowd? More than a few kids had to come here to get treated from the stampede." Present Mic asks.
Jason goes to answer… but stops himself midway as he begins to remember a bit more. "… No… no it wasn't the crowd." He closes his eyes and gets an intense look. "I remember getting pushed hard when I tried to push to get back to my friends. It was some… stairs." He opens his eyes and stares at them. "I remember falling down some stairs and hitting my head."
"Well, that would do it." Recovery Girl chimes in. "More often than not rolling down some stairs can be quite dangerous, and hazardous. A head injury is can be quite common with them."
"Nice one." Present Mic begins to say loudly before quickly quieting. For a second they think they got the origin for Jason's injury down, but Aizawa watches as his student doesn't look too sure.
"Was there more?" He asks leaning closer.
Jason thinks some more, getting a slightly discomforting headache as he tries dredge up more memories. His expression begins to get more and more painful, almost eliciting for Present Mic and Recovery Girl to tell him not to strain himself, "There was someone!" Jason suddenly yells out, surprising the two. He turns and stares at his homeroom teacher. "In the basement! I asked what was going on… and I saw black… maybe purple, and yellow… before darkness." He feels almost relieved to having remembered that bit but gets frustrated again as he has trouble again on the location. "But… I don't remember which door, or the stairs I fell down." He mutters dejected.
"Hmmm…" Aizawa gets thoughtful look on his face. After a few seconds of thinking, he comes to a decision and reaches down. Jason looks up and is momentarily surprised when he notices his teacher pulling up his shield and handing it to him. Seeing it in front of him, its just now he realizes that he didn't have his shield on him when he woke up, which means he dropped it. "Found it in the hallway when I was bringing you here." He hands the shield to Jason, who takes it slowly and holds it in front of him, staring at it for a few seconds, thinking how he failed his teachers condition so quickly after only days of coming to U.A. "Think you can retrace your steps?" Jason looks up at what his instructor tells. When he stares back at Aizawa, he doesn't see look of disappointment or anger, but of slight expectance.
Jason stares at him for a bit before grabbing onto his shield and strapping it back onto his left arm. Once its secured on tight, he swings his legs off the bed and slowly stands up. Present Mic moves to catch in case he falls but Aizawa is not as worried about this student. Jason wobbles a little before taking a deep breath and righting himself. Besides a dull ache on his head and fatigue just barely setting in from Recovery Girls healing, he's good to go. With that in mind, he looks back at his teachers and gives them a firm nod.
Aizawa smirks and stands up too.
Several minutes later, Jason is walking down the hallway with several teachers flanking him. Aizawa and Midnight are right behind him, followed by the pro hero, now Class 1-B's Homeroom teacher, the Blood Hero: Vlad King, Kan Sekijiro, and Ectoplasm with two more of clones taking up the rear. Because of the destruction of the front gate of the school, he was tasked with making many of clones to patrol the halls of the school, to both route out anyone that may have stayed inside the school, and offer a sense of security for the students and faculty that there are many eyes and bodies patrolling the school for any intruders. With the police still trying to round up transport the reporters back off of U.A.'s property, along with more than a few of them being slapped with harassment charges having purposely pushed to try to get some students to give them any sort of statement, Present Mic was back at the front of the destroyed gate to see things run smoothly, as well as trying to keep an eye out for anyone vaguely resembling the description Jason gave them.
They all walk in silence as Jason leads them to the cafeteria. When they make it, he finds the exit in which he and his friends took to get out of the place when the alarm went off. "Alright, we came through here with the mob. Let me see if anything seems familiar through the mob." He mutters as he begins walking forward, Midnight and two Ectoplasms clones following him with the original, Aizawa and Vlad King lagging behind a little.
"What are we doing here, Shota?" Vlad King states annoyed. "We already cleared the reporters from the premises. We should be back in our classrooms teaching our students. I should be in my classroom teaching MY students. Not out here on a wild goose chases because your student wasn't able to handle a mob of students." He quietly vents out to Aizawa, showing his annoyance with the situation. Class 1-A has always been the top dog class in U.A. with 1-B being considered by many as second rate, despite the fact that the class can nurture and grow just as capable heroes as the first class. The situation with the reporters breaking in not only has put everyone on high alert but has also called many to question the integrity of U.A. if their famous security system was able to be beaten so quickly without anyone seeing exactly who did it, or at least no one willing to come forth with information. Vlad King wishes to not let this incident stop him from making his class of students the best of the best out there.
Aizawa lets out a small groan as he narrows his eyes. "My student was attacked. Not by students, but by an intruder." He grimly states, eliciting a scoff from the blood hero. "None of the reporters Quirks we rounded up matched the destruction on the front gate. It had to have been someone else. Someone we haven't found." He finishes saying. Once he does, he notices that their group seems to stop. Jason stands in the middle of the hallway and slowly scans the doors on the side of the hallway.
"You got something kid?" Midnight gets uncomfortably close as she asks him. He pays no attention to her as he steps to the side, coming to one of the doors. When he does, he reaches down to examine something. Its there that they notice a red dot on the ground.
Jason stands up and opens the door, smiling as he finds the stairs. "Well, this is it. The stairs I fell down." He states with certainty.
"How can you tell?" Vlad King asks walking up. "You don't remember where you came from exactly with that injury. You could have made that mess when you were stumbling around." He tries to poke holes in Jason's theory, wanting nothing more than to be done with the chase and heading on back.
"Because I'm pretty sure that's my heads indentation on the wall back there." Jason states smartly and steps back. The teachers peer in and see at the bottom flight of the stairs where it turns, theirs a small concave in the plastered walls at the bottom. "Further down the stairs is the basement for… something." Jason says, unsure exact nature of that particular room.
"The archives room. It's an old basement room used as an archives storage room several years back." Ectoplasm informs the group. "But all the information down there is outdated and serves no purpose to U.A. currently. Who would want to go down there?"
"Only one way to find out." Jason answers and takes a step forward.
"No."
"Okay." Jason doesn't argue with his teacher. He was hoping to take the lead still but as always Aizawa was on the ball with him, immediately denying him to go first. It was a long shot anyway. Jason steps back and allows the teachers to go first. First one of Ectoplasms clones goes first, followed by Midnight, then Aizawa, then the grumbling Vlad King, then Jason is allowed to go with his shield held up and the original Ectoplasm behind him, with the last clone guarding the stairs at the top. With careful and quiet strides the team make it down the stairs, being careful not to bunch up and bump into one another, or if anything happens and they need to push back up the stairs quickly while Midnight subdues them with her Quirk and Aizawa neutralizes theirs. As soon as Ectoplasms clone enters the room, he turns on the lights, the room flickering for a second before it illuminates.
"Hm, there's no one here." He informs everyone and walks in deeper. Soon cautiously the rest of the teachers and heroes walk in.
"Hhm, I knew this was a waste of time." Vlad King mumbles annoyed at the lack of activity they found.
"Doesn't look like anything was trashed either." Midnight says as she looks at some of the lightly dust covered boxes.
"Maybe we have the wrong room?" The original Ectoplasm mutters as he looks around and cancels his clone.
"No, this is definitely it." Jason inform them from the back.
"Are you sure?" Midnight asks looking, only for her to see Jason staring at the wall to his right. When she looks too, she sees another indentation on the wall similar to the one they saw on the stairs. "Oh."
"Yeah, this is definitely the room. I remember now. I was standing right here close to the entrance when I saw the almost pitch black room and some dark figure standing near the computers." Jason begins to recount the events a little. "And I remember… yellow eyes… and then from my left that's when I was knocked out." He says and looks, but much to his confusion is the fact that the part of the entrance he was standing in was narrow before it eventually opened up to the rest of the room, leaving only a solid wall right next to him. "But… there's nothing…" He mutters in confusion as he rubs a part of the wall. He suddenly turns and heads deeper into the room. "And whoever was here was using one of the computers. He walks down the small row of computers until he stops in front of one next to Ectoplasm. "This one."
Ectoplasm leans close and examines the computer, narrowing his eyes and staring intently at the keyboard. "He's right, theirs voids in the dust here on this computer. Someone did use this recently. But for what?"
"Nothing good that's for sure." Aizawa speaks as he steps up to them. "We have an idea of what they are looking but not on the specifics. I'm going to take my student back to class and we need to get back to our students." He says, referencing Vlad King, who huffs at that. "I'll let principal Nezu know about this. You two got this?" He asks as he leads Jason to the door.
"Oh yeah, this should be easy." Midnight says as she begins typing on the computer, trying to find out what the intruder was looking for.
"I'll do a more thorough look around the room to make sure we didn't miss anything." Ectoplasm says as he makes more copies of himself to carefully search the room some more.
"Good. Let's go then you two." Aizawa replies and walks up the stairs with Vlad King and Jason.
"About time." Vlad King states now that they are done searching. Once they make it to the top, the Ectoplasm clone heads off to continue patrolling halls. Vlad King makes no effort to slow down and walk with Aizawa and Jason and is ahead of them as go down the hallway.
Jason and Aizawa walk in silence as they make their way back to their classroom. Jason reaches up for the bandage on his head, finding the headache is gone now and the wound is completely gone thanks to Recovery girl. He stares at the bandage in his hand intently before sighing. "… Sorry, sir."
"…" Aizawa glances to the side at his student. "For what?"
"For getting caught off guard. For letting that villain get away." All of Jason's efforts in training and working to be a hero, his first time in facing a villain after getting into U.A. and getting knocked out so quickly and easily leaves a bitter taste in his mouth.
"… Hm." Aizawa mumbles, making Jason look down a little at the lack of words from his teacher. "Well, it's not like you were supposed to fight an actual villain on the first week of school. So considering you only made it out with just a minor head injury and getting knocked out, I'd say you did alright." This causes Jason to perk up a little at Aizawa's words, feeling just a little better now. However as they keep walking, Aizawa grabs his shoulder, making him look at the critical stare the tired instructor is giving him. "But don't get caught off guard again. When you're going to become a hero, you need to be ready anytime and at any opportunity when it comes to villains. They won't, and ever, play fair."
Jason gives a serious nod in return, still alright with what he says and understanding fully of the dangers now that he came so close to it.
Well, this is awkward. Awhile ago I had said that when I started writing this story I had the inspiration to get back to writing at a faster and more effective pace, and I was doing that for awhile. Unfortunately something came up within the last couple of months. A family emergency that got things really scary for me and my family out of the blue. Things are okay and we are all alright and back to normal, but I'm still feeling wary after everything went back to normal so that's why my writing may have stagnated for a bit. From what most of you have said multiple times before, I can tell that the large majority of you will understand about my situation, especially in these times that society is in. Just give me a bit to wind down so to say and I'll do what I can to pick my writing back up. That's life I guess, one minute you're ready to get going, ready to do things, then all of a sudden something happens to either you or your loved ones that makes you stop or makes you completely lose your drive to do anything you were prepared to do. Sucks. I will get back to writing a bit more I can assure you all.
Okay now that that information is given, originally this chapter was going to include all of this plus the beginning parts of the USJ but after my writing had slowed per the reason as mentioned above, I just cut the chapter for this part at least, while also doing what I can to add more meat to the chapter so to say. With that said, the next couple of chapters should deal with the classes aftermath of the schools break-in, and the USJ incident.
Here are the reviews:
Grimlock987: I have heard her being called many things in the past, but never have I ever heard someone call her a skinwalker. That is… so very true and accurate I laughed when I first read this. Thank you.
Fanalis1995: Thank you. Yeah Jason is going to have to be a bit… tougher than most other heroes as he advances his hero career. Afterall his main concern is getting his best friend to be a hero first rather than himself, so obviously he might have to resort to some questionable methods at times to make sure they both live to see Izuku's hero career take off. And his admirer… yeah, that's going to be quite the pickle to deal with that's for sure.
Marbled god: I'm glad you think so. I did what I could and I'm happy the fight worked out.
TheChamp 123: Aw stop your making my blush. At some point when he has better training he might try stuff like that with the shield, and maybe if he were to make it lighter.
Yes, it is the curse of being so interesting. You tend to catch the eyes of some… interesting characters. She is going to be a handful.
I do what I can to answer questions so I'm happy to have answered them before.
Pyrojack25: Huh, I've never heard of that hero before or his name doesn't really pop off the top of my head. But that's a pretty cool hero too when I looked up so thanks, and thank you for liking how everything is shaping up with Jason and his means of fighting.
Light Seeker 001: Oh with the way how Jason is going to be put in the spotlight, yes more than a few villains are going to be keeping a very close, for some uncomfortably close, eye on him that's for sure.
Darckcarlos: Well for one I'm not going to straight rip off the 3D Maneuver gear from AoT, however some elements of it do give me some ideas. I'll keep it mind but no guarantees.
Thank you all for the reviews. In a bit of other news, I have taken to watching some new shows as of late, namely those of The Owl House and Amphibia. Really great shows, highly recommend watching both without a doubt at all. Both are really awesome to watch, contemplate, so on and so forth.
Now that that is done, I want to thank you all for bearing with me on all that's happened. As I said, my family's situation is okay now and I'm slowly going to bring myself back up to writing at a slightly faster pace as I had promised before. Thank you all for your support. Go ahead and fave, follow, review, whatever you wish. Take care everyone, have fun reading, and most of all, have a great day each and every one of you.
