Charlotte sat in the middle of her room still in disbelief.
How could Butters be living with such a cruel woman? Did his parents even know his Grandmother was this mean? Or did she just put up a facade of affection to fool them?
Either way she had to save Butters. She herself had already treated him cruelly once. Over something that didn't even affect her. Now she had to make things right, and save him from this gross old witch.
Her inner thought process was disrupted when she heard her phone go off. She looked at the caller and saw it to be Butters.
She sighed with relief. She pressed the call Button. "Hello?"
To her shock it wasn't Butters voice on the other end. But rather his Grandmother's.
"Hello, you callous Canuck." she sneered.
Charlotte's eyes narrowed. "What do you want?" she demanded.
"I'm just calling to see how you're enjoying your time in South Park, nothing else." she smirked.
"Leave Butters alone." she glared. "He's your grandson, you have no right to treat him like trash."
"Oh, but didn't you do the same to him?" she retorted. "You dumped him over an Internet troll that was terrorizing Colorado. You didn't even live there, yet you still dumped him for a stupid reason. And now you come back trying to pretend like nothing ever happened? Face it doll. Butters deserves much better than you. You're not good for him."
"Well neither are you!" Charlotte spat back. "And you better stop hurting him or else I'm going to the police!"
At that the voice on the other end grew harsh and bitter. "You're not doing shit, little girl. You don't know who you're dealing with. If I hear that you've told even a single soul about the way I treat my grandson, I will do to him a lot worse than what President Garrison did to your Country. The choice is yours, you beady eyed bitch."
She then abruptly hung up. Leaving Charlotte in shock.
If she told anyone about Butters' predicament then no doubt his Grandmother was going to do something a thousand times worse than any abusive parent would do to a child. And if she didn't say anything, then no doubt her boyfriend would be subjugated to everlasting abuse from this vile woman for the rest of his life.
What was she going to do?
After another tense day at School. Butters just slumped home.
What was he going to do?
His girlfriend was in danger now because of his grandmother. It wasn't fair, none of this was! His classmates were concerned about him but if he told them, they'd probably not believe him or mock him because of it...even if they did save him... besides one of the even hated him with her guts. And then, once his grandmother found out, then she'd torment Charlotte. He'd never see her again.
He just sat down on the steps of the Church just to wallow in some misery.
He just closed his eyes and prayed for something to happen. ANYTHING that could free him from this cycle of torment.
He was so caught up in grief that he did not notice someone walking towards him.
It was Father Maxi.
"Butters, is everything OK?" he asked.
Butters looked up and saw the priest standing over him.
"Father." he gasped. "What are you doing here?"
"I've noticed you getting a little bit upset over these past few days." he replied. "If there's something bothering you, I want you to tell me."
"I'm fine," he mumbled,
"Butters," Maxi said a bit more imploringly. "I really want to help you, you helped me once so now I want it to be my turn."
Butters looked up and realized that this was an adult who was actually concerned about him. Maybe Father Maxi could help him.
He sat up and took the Priest's hand.
"OK, he replied. But let's go somewhere a little more private."
"I know just the place." he led Butters up the stairs into the Church.
Butters followed the priest towards a door behind the altar.
It led down some stairs to a darkened hall with a white door at the end of it.
It had a small cross sign glued to the front with the words "Home Sweet Home" carved into it.
"Well, come in." The Priest turned to the boy and opened the door.
Butters followed him inside.
