"I regret not playing this game years ago! From the realistic graphics and sensations that I could only imagine be possible, I feel like I could get lost in the feeling and stay here forever."

Felix continued to make his way into the forest from the field that he awoke from. The strange but pleasant sensation of being in a non-polluted environment distracting him from contemplating the advance sensory functions of the game that was stated to be impossible.

The developers of YGGDRASIL were infamous for providing little to no information regarding the game aside from announcing the occasional tournaments and posting some information of rare items to rile up the players. But to hide how advanced their diving technology is compared to other games seems to be a huge mistake with how badly the game needed support. These realistic senses would blow out the competition and revitalize the game! He could enjoy it a bit longer, assuming the servers are online again next year as his day off from the factory covers a single day only.

His thoughts were interrupted as he heard the growl of what sounded like a stray dog, but to his horror it was the appearance of a very large wolf. With sharp teeth the size of daggers and claws that jut out of its paws to dig deep into the ground like pickaxes, this beast would truly be considered an apex predator unmatched among the long extinct species back in real life.

"Holy shit that's a big doggo". Felix was both amazed and horrified at the monstrous wolf slowly making its way to him. The game continuing to impress with the lifelike way the wolf was stalking towards its target, hoping to get a filling meal of adventurer takeout. Guess it was time to test out the fight mechanics of the game and see if the gameplay can match with the stunning graphics and ambience.

Bringing out his sword from his sheathe, He proceeded to give a little taunt to his first opponent. "Come and get it fido! If you want lunch you're gonna have to work for it!" yelled Felix as he prepared a combat stance and hoping he wouldn't game over on the first day. The game overs in YGGDRASIL are infamous for resetting levels and making players drop the most valuable equipment they have before respawning, and he didn't want to be one of those suckers who lost their starter weapon to the first mob that they encountered.

The wolf monster leaped forward in an effort to quickly snap Felix into its maw for a single bite and swallow, with Felix himself doing a combat roll before repositioning himself to face the wolf again as it used its massive claws to strike at him. Felix attempted to block the creatures attack with his sword and expected to meet some resistance only to feel a very crushing blow and being flung away towards a tree. The force of his landing cracking and splintering the wood while making him feel agony he has only felt during his childhood days on the streets.

Felix could taste the blood in his mouth and the familiar feeling of broken bones before snapping to attention the wolf monster quickly making its way towards him. Ignoring the pain as he always did, He quickly reached for one of his backup daggers and threw it with startling precision to one of its eyes. The mark hit true and the monster released a howl of agony as it lost an eye, with Felix quickly retaliating by swinging his sword and making a large cut appear at side of the wolf's face near the injured eye.

The combination of losing its eye and the facial injuries the wolf sustained made it backup and quickly escape from it's intended meal. With the immediate danger over Felix proceeded to remember his injuries and let out a litany of curses to accompany his bleeding form.

"SON OF A MOTHERFUCKING WHORE WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT SHIT!", yelled Felix to no one in particular as he reached for the potions on his person, grumbling and shouting more curses to numb the pain. He brought out a potion of minor healing and drank the entire contents, the tangy and sweet taste of the potion lost on him as he still agonized over his wounds.

The pain gradually subsided and his injuries miraculously healed the instant he ingested the potion, all the wounds he sustained disappearing except for the blood that stained his clothes and some rips on his tunic and pants, the red cloak he equipped for his adventure ensemble remaining pristine thanks to the special quality imbued in it.

The new reality started to dawn for Felix as he slowly started to stand and come to terms with what has happened, both the state of the "game" he was in and the mangling by his first monster. The inclusion of pain was often a way for games to have a realistic edge to it, but the amount he experienced was definitely not normal. The blood itself was also an indicator that something is terribly wrong, as he should have just lost some HP and have numbers popping up instead of his lifeblood spilling out.

"I'm almost disappointed at the lack of clear thought I had the moment I stepped into the game that had 'realistic' graphics. YGGDRASIL is not that advanced to simulate such lifelike functions, added to the lack of a basic tutorial and HUD and now I'm suddenly 'isekai' into the game like those power fantasy novels".

Having a new and frightening perception of the area and world he is in, Felix started to make his way deeper into the forest as it was the only path he could take. The forest and grassy field was surrounded by large imposing mountains, with the path to exit it nowhere in sight. Attempting to scale the mountains themselves would pose a significant risk since he didn't have the experience nor equipment for scaling the mountains and possible monsters that could pop out and make him fall to his death if not mutilate him like the giant wolf did earlier.

Staying put in the field would just be begging for another attack on him, possibly being surrounded and torn apart by multiple monsters with no way to run not to mention him barely surviving against one. Perhaps the forest has a secret portal to exit the area or maybe an exit out of the place within the maze of trees and bushes.

But Felix's thoughts remain on the wolf monster that he decided to stick with the name "Fido", who escaped deeper into the forest and probably had a den with other nasty beasts ready to go round two with him. "Meh it's either death by Fido or some other weird things that could pop out at any time. Might as well end the fight with one of us dead instead of tiptoeing it endlessly. I'm not gonna roll over and let it get me as easily next time!
