AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hello my wonderful readers! I would like to say thank you to everyone who took some time off reading better stories to give mine a chance. It's a little inferior to many other fanfictions as this is my very first story ever written and posted so please bear with me. I've been reading fanfictions for quite some time now and decided to try and write one since I always have these ideas swimming around about particular events and future stories that could be told.

The prime example is this story where instead an OC member of Ainz Ooal Gown or another high-level player that becomes a god in the New World, you have the severely underpowered Felix who doesn't know much about the game in contrast to a veteran player like Momonga.

Well now on to the reason for this note instead of a chapter which all of you are more interested in then some nerd rambling. I wrote this note to give my thoughts on the stories progress, what is installed in the future and to have some interaction to my beautiful audience. It felt cold and distant in the previous chapters with just a posting of stories and no thoughts from me so I will be doing these little notes every now and then to say my thanks and whatnot. Hope I don't annoy you all with these!

Now for the main reason of this post is to clear up what exactly is happening in the story and at the same time the canon events unfolding. Like I said in my first chapter, Felix is not the only character that ended up in the New World. Oh no, our bone daddy was transported as well along with the Tomb of Nazarick and its kind denizens. Both Felix and Momonga (who has changed his name to Ainz Ooal Gown by now) were transported to the New World at the same time with the obvious difference is that Ainz is at his canon location while Felix finds himself far away from it.

I did this so that our OC will have time to develop both as a character and player before he meets a fellow player like him, who is now a literal overlord of death with an army of monsters at his beck and call. Based on what we know of Ainz, he doesn't seem too keen on meeting other players if they aren't part of his guild so Felix and Ainz will have some… "disagreements" once they meet. Not to mention the animosity of Nazarick's NPCs who hate humans with a passion and would probably slaughter Felix for being too sassy.

Also Felix needs to do a little bulking up before encountering his contemporary because as he is now, Ainz can flick his finger at Felix and there won't be a corpse left since it exploded from the sheer force of a flick from a godlike entity. And like I said previously the denizens of Nazarick won't take kindly to Felix himself just because he is human, and Ainz will be a bit slow to stop any ongoing torture inflicted on someone who he doesn't know because of the emotional dampening effects of his undead state.

I was honestly thinking of not adding Ainz and his motley crew at the same time with Felix. He would still appear in the story but only after a few decades where Felix is no longer a green noob and is now a legitimate threat to Ainz and the tomb, but it wouldn't be fair to drag out a long-awaited appearance of the great lord of Nazarick so both of them are there in the New World now. I also have a feeling no one is really interested in reading just about an OC so yeah need to take advantage of bone daddy's popularity to keep the story interesting.

But then again encountering the overpowered will be the norm for Felix's adventures so at the same time Ainz will have the perfect role in the story. The ultimate challenge for Felix aside from the other overpowered characters present in the New World as well as someone who is his literal opposite in every way from strength to race.

I'll try to keep things close to canon as possible and the only major changes you will read is the appearance of Felix in some events as well as meeting characters before Ainz. But I would like to add that there will be some irregularities and deviance from the original canon as Overlord itself is very complex, both the lore and magic system so I apologize in advance for butchering them too much. Feel free to post a review if you spot the deviances as I am open to criticism since I did mention this is my first story and I want to improve to pump out better content for your enjoyment!

Finally, I want to touch upon the future of the story, how many chapters are going to be seeing as well as possible sequels or crossovers. It's a bit vainglorious of me to assume the story will reach to the point of getting sequels and crossovers but aiming high is a positive goal no? In my head this story is going to be a long journey from humble beginnings to the point where Felix won't die once he faces the true monsters like Shalltear. But make no mistake you will see Felix suffer greatly, if you think Brain got treated bad by Shalltear then the following fights Felix finds himself in will make you think Brain got off easy. Our one-armed hero is eventually going to develop enough skills and strength to give her a manicure!

I hope that I can continue writing this story to completion, with around 50 or so chapters. And the length of those chapters won't be too short like my earlier work along with better fight scenes then now. I'm going to be the one to bring it up and say my fight scenes are not the greatest. I honestly chose wolves because their attack patterns and abilities were simple enough to write yet I can add some elements of action to spice things up, but in the end it became repetitive and stale so I deeply apologize for that.

World building and story expansions are also a big part of this story. I'm honestly geeking out writing my own interpretation of the lore in Overlord, particularly the previous players that ended up in the New World especially the players who never made it so big as to shake the very foundations of the world like the Six Great Gods and Eight Greed Kings. It seems unlikely no unprepared and weak players like Felix never got transported to the New World as well, and the descendants of the players who became god-kin might actually be related to one of those weaker players.

Well I'm now done with my extensive monologue. The other author's note will hopefully not take a chapter slot and instead you can read them before a chapter begins. I would like to say thank you again for giving me and the story a chance, as well as being the first to see Felix take his first steps (and fumbles) in the New World!

Best regards,

Finn
