After the chaos that occurred in Paris, a few familiar figures were on a hill overlooking a familiar city.
"Hmm… So this is Tokyo. It's about as bustling as I have heard." Cheetah said. "Ishihara picked an interesting place to call his home."
"I hear that. Never a dull moment in a place like this." Captain Cold said. "Especially with the Olympics coming up."
"Knowing Ishihara… He wouldn't miss out on something like that." Cheetah chuckled.
"Still, I can't believe Killer Frost would work with that Theodore loon." Captain Cold said.
"You mean brainwashing the Royal Knights to digitize this city not too long ago? I've heard about that." Poison Ivy said.
"Word on the street was that Ishihara kid was PISSED!" Captain Cold said.
"Not as mad as the Royal Knights, I would imagine." Poison Ivy said. "It reminded me of when Brainiac tried to collect cities on our home world. Good thing we abandoned him when we did."
"If I was brainwashed and forced to attack a highly-populated city like this against my own will… I'll admit, I'd be pretty mad too." Cheetah said.
"Hm? Why are you saying something like that? Did something happen during that whole thing in Paris?" Captain Cold asked.
"You… could say that…" Cheetah said.
"She has no chance at redemption. She deserves death, just as you do." Wonder Woman's voice said in Cheetah's head.
"That's not for you to decide! She has just as much a right to decide her own path as anybody else." David's voice said.
"I was rather...surprised when he defended me like that." Cheetah said. "No one has ever shown kindness for me. Not my human parents, not any associates I have worked with, no one… And when Diana called him a fool for trusting my judgment, I attacked her in retaliation… Just what is happening to me?"
"Uh… Cheets? You doing okay, girl?" Captain Cold asked.
"You have both seen it as well. Back in the IGPX, we worked together with them to defeat Miasma. Then at Marina Island, we gave them the means to seal away the Titans once again. And then there was Paris, where I defended him from Diana." Cheetah said. "What kind of destiny is binding us…?"
"I don't know, but from the looks of things… It sounds like the two of you are meant to work together." Captain Cold said.
"That's ridiculous. Me and him, companions?" Cheetah asked. "That will never happen!"
"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Poison Ivy said.
"What are you talking about?" Cheetah asked.
"Come on, the signs are clearly there. Heck, remember when he passed out after he destroyed that demon racket? You had a chance to kill him then and there, but you didn't take it." Captain Cold said. "The reason why you are so hesitant in killing him is because he showed you kindness when no one else did."
"Despite the two of you being rivals, he is still reaching out to you. That's why you're feeling all of these emotions now." Poison Ivy said.
"Because he showed me kindness? Someone like me doesn't deserve such sentimentality." Cheetah said.
"Is that what you believe?" Poison Ivy asked.
"I… I…" Cheetah hesitated before tears started flowing down her face.
"There, see? I knew that would get you." Captain Cold said.
"Silence, Cold! I...I'm allowed to cry too, am I?" Cheetah asked.
"Your tears… They're not bitter at all, aren't they?" Poison Ivy asked.
"Deep inside, I'm happy to finally have someone show me kindness. But… It's from the one person that I have sworn to destroy because of what he did to Diana. And now that she has returned...I don't know what to think right now." Cheetah said.
"Then maybe try a little role reversal." Captain Cold said.
"Role...reversal?" Cheetah asked.
"That's right. As far as the common folk are concerned, the Wonder Woman of our world is designated as a villain now. Now's your chance to prove that you are better than her." Captain Cold said. "Prove to her that even someone like you has the right to live."
"The right...to live…" Cheetah said. "You're… You're right. To think that I needed someone like Ishihara for me to learn such an obvious lesson. I guess I still have a lot to learn before I can prove myself the better hunter." she said before Poison Ivy gave her a present box with an outfit similar to David's. "This… This is Ishihara's outfit, isn't it?"
"We've been to his house while you were off in Paris. His father believes that you are capable of redemption. He...also said this is his best outfit, but doesn't expect you to wear it right away." Captain Cold said. "Though, it would really piss Wondie of if you did."
"I bet it will." Cheetah said, laughing. "I finally got one in on her, by the way."
"See? I knew it would happen, sooner or later. I guess that dynamic between you and the kid was good for something after all." Captain Cold said.
Cheetah smiled as she looked at the outfit and decided to put it on. The only parts that were different were that her gloves were fingerless and she doesn't have shoes. Both so that her claws don't get in the way.
"Oh-ho! Now that looks like a perfect fit." Poison Ivy said.
"I would have to agree. You definitely look like an all-business hunter in that getup." Captain Cold said. "Now, what say we take the fight to Theodore Flux? After that escapade with Coronamon earlier, we are pretty much involved with him anyway."
"I have to agree. He comes uninvited by us all." Cheetah said.
"Considering how big a grudge the boy has on him. It's unlikely you won't get a piece of him until he's already in bloody chunks." Poison Ivy said.
"That's fine with me. It's not like we're used to helping him out at this point." Cheetah said.
"Now then, if no one has anything else to say… Reformed Society...move out!" Captain Cold said.
And so begins a new chapter in the story of the proud huntress...
