Invisible String
Chapter 4
author's note : I know that cliffhanger surprised people. Settle in.
Counting wounds and I am trying to numb them all
I have questions, I got questions haunting me.
Later on that night
Brooke laid her head on the bar. She lost count of the drinks she had. Truthfully she wasn't keeping count.
She didn't want to run into anyone she knew.
She hated being vunerable in front of people.
Xzavier's impending release from prison because of her attack.
Was weighing on her heavily. She originally wasn't going to report the attack at all.
Humilation. Fear. Her mother's voice in her head. Reminding her she wasn't smart or capable enough to run her fashion or be in business.
"I've been looking for you all over town." A voice said.
"Go away!" Brooke exclaimed.
He wrapped his arm around her. Leading the way out of the bar.
Once she was safely in the car. He locked the doors and drove her home.
...
The friend group had spare keys to each others houses.
They had done that since high school and kept it going as adults.
Brooke felt herself fall onto the bed. She cling to the covers.
He removed her shoes. Left a glass of water and pain medication on the end table.
"I'm Brooke Davis. I don't need to be rescued!" She exclaimed.
Lucas pulled the covers over her. Moving the hair from her face.
"You try to take on the world and not accept help from anyone."
"You have me. You're never really on you're own."
"You should know that by now." Lucas stated matter of fact.
"Why don't you love me.?"
"Can't you see how in love with you. I am.?" Brooke proclaimed. Before falling asleep.
Lucas's eyes went wide. Her admission knocking the air out of him.
She's drunk. None of this will be remembered in the morning.
He only then remembered to text Peyton. And tell her he wouldn't be home tonight.
Spending the night at the office. I love you.
Lucas typed and sent.
Spending the rest of the night. Watching over Brooke.
