Greg had heard what Catherine asked and was searching for the right words when his mind went back to six weeks earlier.
-A month and a half earlier-
Greg was awoken to a scream. It took him a second to remember where he was and why he was there. Sara, Grissom and Greg had been on a case and the drive back to Vegas was two hours so they where working with the crime lab in the little town. He remembered the crime scene from the night before and thought how bad it looked. There was a twelve year old that standing off to the side and without a word Sara had went to the girl. The scene was bad. What the would find out later was that the wife was tired of being her husbands punch bag but when he went after the daughter she snapped and stabbed him killing him. Greg had noticed that Grissom was making sure that sure was okay and not asking to much of her. He was surprised when Sara told Grissom she was going to the hospital with the girl and not staying at the crime scene to help. Sara would have normal fought to stay at a crime scene. Back to the reason he woke up he could hear the scream again followed by someone telling the person it was okay and to wake up its just a dream.
Now that he was awake he need to use the restroom and walking over to it he noticed that the door connecting the rooms was open. And though he tried not to he could not help but going to look. He told himself he was just shutting it to gave Sara her privacy. He did not expecting to see Grissom laying there with Sara or to see them look so conformable with sharing that close of a space. He quietly shut the door did what he went to do. Going back to bed Greg thought to himself they will kill me if they know what I saw and decide not to mention it at all.
-The next night/morning-
Greg heard Grissom come back into the room when he was in the shower. As he exited the bathroom he say that not only was Grissom in the room but Sara was.
"Greg about what you saw or heard last night..." Sara started to say but Greg cut her off.
"I saw nothing. I noticed the door being open when I went to the restroom and shut it that is all." Greg knew that she was not buying it for one bit but he did not want to push for something they where not ready for.
"The door was left open when I screamed and I know that if Grissom heard it you did too." Sara watched as Greg nodded his head. "Then I guess there is something I should tell you about my past. When I was about twelve my mother killed my father. Sometimes when I sleep I relive the day it happened all over again. My nightmares have gotten better of the years but there are times they come out of nowhere. This case brought them back up for me and I know that if we have to stay here again tonight you will hear me scream." Sara paused and looked a let nervous as she said the next part. Looking at Grissom she continued "I think it is best that with what happened tonight that you know that Grissom and I are dating."
Greg looked at both of them and then answered the silent question in the room. "Don't worry I will not tell anyone. I would like to say though I think it is great that you are dating."
-The next day-
They where on the way home when Sara asked Grissom if he called anyone to get Hank. Looking back at Greg she explained that Hank was their dog that Grissom had adopted before they got together.
"Mrs Waffles went and got him this morning. So he will be home." Looking back at Greg he asked if he minded that they stop and let Hank or even let Hank come with them as they where going to drop off their kits and Greg to get his car.
"I don't mind at all." Greg still thought it all was a weird dream that he would wake up from and none of this was real. He remembered what Catherine had told him when he asked if she thought Sara would go out on a date with here and started laughing.
"What is so funny?" Grissom asked wondering why Greg would just start laughing for no reason at all.
"I was just remembering a time when I asked Catherine if she thought that Sara would go on a date with me. If I remember right her answer was yes just don't tell her it is a date." With that everyone was laughing.
Grissom pulled up to his townhouse and said "You are going to hear Sara be called my wife pay no mind to it."
Greg was confused until he saw an older lady starting towards the car. He was going to stay in the car when Sara told him to come inside the house as it would be easier to might Hank inside then outside. And as Grissom had said he did hear the older woman ask Grissom who the young man with his wife was.
"I know that you want to ask. Mrs. Waffles is Grissom's neighbor that looks after Hank sometimes if we get called in on a night. The first time I meet her she claimed that I was Grissom's wife when we told her no she said that we may not be lawfully but that are souls where and there was nothing we could do about it.
