A warning, a guy like him should have come with a warning. It wasn't like he could have known this was going to happen, but with a family like his...she should have seen it coming. It should have been a one night stand, her and him. But with a wizard like Ron Weasley, nothing ever seemed to be as simple it seemed.
It had been a Friday night. She'd been drinking, he'd been drinking. She had a feeling they'd been drinking over the same thing. She'd just come out of a bad relationship with Draco. It turned out he'd only been dating her as a cover, something to put in the public eye while he shagged Harry Potter senseless in the private.
She wasn't anyone's cover. She was Pansy Parkinson! She'd read about Ron's break up in the Prophet, everyone knew he and Granger weren't going to last. Sure, they'd been cute together, but they were just too different. Granger was a brainy, bossy go getter and Ron...well, he wasn't.
Pansy saw him sitting at end of the bar, glass in hand. She'd slid into the seat next to him.
"Hey."
"Hey. What are you doing here?"
"Same as you," she answered, noticing the way his eyes caught the light. She couldn't help that she was interested, that she was falling. She'd always had a bit of a crush on him, something she'd been forced to hide in school. He was funny, kinda of smart when it came to things, and there was the fact he was a pure-blood, something that had been drilled into her head.
"Here's to being single, huh?" he asked, raising his glass in the air. She clinked hers against it taking another drink.
"Yeah, whatcha drinking?" she asked.
"This new import, why not have the best?"
"Is it good?"
"It's good. Want a taste?" he asked, holding out his glass. She laughed at his naivity.
"Yeah, but not from there," she replied, kissing his lips, licking the alcohol from them. Her head spun slightly from the buzz, from the rush of kissing him.
She tracked him down to his brothers' joke shop.
"Hey."
He turned and Pansy felt her head spinning, wanting to reach out and touch him, to kiss him again. She hadn't seen him since that night, but he'd been in her thoughts, her dirtiest dreams. Maybe she should have taken that as a sign this wasn't over
"Pansy? What are you doing here?"
"I needed to talk to you, is there somewhere we can go?" she asked, biting her lower lip, knowing she was getting her pink lipstick on her teeth. That was the least of her problems right now.
"Um, sure. George, I'll be back in a minute," Ron called out, reaching out and putting an arm around Pansy. They slipped out the back.
"What's up?"
"Remember that night, last month..."
"The one that ended up in your flat?" he asked, shoving his hands in his pockets. She nodded.
"That one, yes, we...well, something went wrong."
"Went wrong?"
"Either the potion was bad, or I flubbed the spell, or something."
"Potion- wait, you mean, you're-"
She could see his face paling, if that possible, as he put together what she was saying.
"Yes," she answered, looking at the ground. She couldn't even begin to figure out what she felt. On one note, she was happy. She'd always dreamed of having a family, a small one at least.
"And you're sure it's mine?"
"Not in the habit of sleeping with people, Ron."
"But Draco."
"Never slept together."
"Right, so I guess I should get a ring or something, I mean, I always, I finish what I started, and I guess, I-"
"You don't have to, get a ring, marry me, any of that. If you don't want to be a part of this, well, you didn't chose to have this happen. I just thought... that, maybe, you should know?"
"Pansy, I like you," Ron stated. "I like you a lot, and that night, I really liked you, liked being with you. I know this isn't how either of us planned for things to go, but I want to be part of your life, part of our baby's life."
"I'm not sure I'd ever want to marry you. I had a crush on you, and I do like you, but this is a big thing."
"Mum always said that big things can be broken down into smaller things, so why don't we just start with something small. We could grab lunch together? You need to eat anyway and I like food."
"That's true, and I wouldn't mind not eating alone. Alright, Ron, lunch sounds good. I've got a few errands to run, but noonish?"
"I'll let George know and yeah, noonish sounds good. You don't have to do this alone, Pansy. I'll be here for you, I'll be here for you both," Ron said, giving Pansy a kiss on the forehead before heading back inside. Pansy smiled for a minute. She hadn't planned on this, not in a million years, but maybe that was how things were supposed to be, spontaneous and a bit chaotic?
