Season One Episode Five Part Two
Walking around downstairs and finding no sign of him and figuring Murphy wasn't stupid enough to go outside she made her way upstairs. Searching the bedrooms and not finding anything she finally found him in the bathroom and she was shocked by what she found. Murphy had shaved his beard and he was now bold.
"New look Murphy?" She asked him making him jump and spin to look at her while grabbing his jumper to cover his chest.
"Do you mind?!" He snapped at her making her roll her eyes
"Oh relax it's not like I haven't seen the bites before although don't remember them being that colour, but then that could be the vaccine running through your blood." Ellie said making Murphy hastily pull the jumper over his head to cover the bites. "But whatever, and BTW is you didn't want someone to walk in on you, maybe use the door next time" She said knocking on the door emphasizing her point making him roll his eyes. "Whats with the look?" She asked him again
"Fancied a change" He said shrugging
"Just fancied a change, that's it? You sure there's nothing else wrong because that is a drastic change"
"Everything is peachy, nothings wrong everything is fine and dandy. Can you go away now"
"Ok then Mr defensive, wanna try that again?" Ellie challenged
"You know you are not the boss of me" Murphy grumbled walking over to her "And I'm not gonna let someone half my age tell me what to do, so why don't you run along now and mind your own business before I make you" he said towering over her trying to be threatening but she wasn't backing down.
"I know what your trying to do Murphy and it's not gonna work, I'm not afraid of you and you threatening me is not gonna make me run away and forget about it" she said a fiery look in her eyes. "Because if that vaccine is doing something to you then we need to know because as of right now I'd say you look more z then human"
"You can't tell Warren" Murphy panicked a pleading look in his eyes
"I wont" Ellie promised "And only because they'll figure it out and I know you may look like one but your definitely still human. But if you become a threat i wont hesitate to end you, even if you are the savior if the human race. So back off" Ellie said pushing against his chest making him stumble back "because all I was trying to do was see if you were ok and you get threatening".
Murphy looked down guilty shuffling on his feet and she swore she heard him mumble an apology but she wasn't sure.
"Now if your done threatening someone half your age why don't we go back downstairs and into the basement where it's safe, before the roof flies of this building" She said referring to the storm which they could still hear the wind howling outside and occasional bangs where something had knocked against the building. And when he nodded she stepped away from the door to allow him to go first and he stepped forward and left the bathroom before walking down the stairs with Ellie close behind.
Once they reached the basement stairs and started to descend them they could hear Mack and Doc talking and when they reached the bottom they heard Mack shouting.
"Ellie, Murphy get in here" Murphy walked through the entrance but froze making Ellie bump into him
"Ow Murphy what the hell?" She said rubbing her nose but she was ignored
"Murphy!?" She heard Mack exclaim "What the hell man?"
"Murphy!" Doc shouted but Murphy still didn't move "The worlds coming apart around us, man. And you decide it's time for a haircut?"
"Keep him away from Rick!" The woman said leaning over her husband who was led out on a table.
"Murphy move" Ellie shouted getting fed up of being ignored and she gave him a gentle shove forward so she was able to step around him and see what the others were up too. "Now how about we all chill out and try and help this woman's husband
"Murphy I need your help" Doc said agreeing with Ellie "Find something sharp to penetrate his skull"
"Sharp enough to penetrate his skull, got it" Murphy said finally snapping out of his daze as he went off to search for something "It's about time we piked him
"What's he talking about?!" The Jane the woman asked shocked and Ellie just face palmed, she couldn't believe he could be so stupid.
"Way to read the room!" Doc shouted at Murphy "Don't, don't worry. Nobodies gonna pike your husband" He said trying to reassure her " Ellie I need you to help hold him down"
"Ok" Ellie said coming forward and standing next to Mack and at the same time Mack starting looking frantically around
"Where's Addy?" He said "Addy!" he then left them to go find her leaving Ellie and Jane to try and hold Rick down on the table as he was struggling in pain while Doc held a cloth to the wound on his head. But Rick's struggling got worst and they were having trouble keeping a hold on him
"Mack! I need you , man" Doc shouted and He quickly appeared back by the door and ran to them when they saw them struggling "How we doin' Murphy?!" And Murphy came around the corner holding an electric drill and another long screw and after a bit of debating Doc grabbed the electric drill. "Thanks" He said as he turned it on "Just hold him still" So Mack went by his head to hold it in place while Ellie and Jane held down his arms and Murphy had his feet. 'Now look, if this works right there could be a lot of blood... but that's good. That's a good thing because we want to releave the pressure. And then that way the brain will have room to... Don't watch" He warned Jane .
Jane quickly turned her head but still kept a hold on her husband while Murphy started slowly backing away when Doc started the drill. Doc slowly lowered the drill into Rick's head and everything was ok for a few seconds until they all heard a crack and the drill piece snapped in half leaving half a piece in the guys head. "Oh damn, I knew this was gonna happen" Doc exclaimed looking around at everyone for help.
"Don't look at me... Doctor" Mack said
"Im no doctor but if you want to relieve the pressure couldn't you just bang the drill down with something" Ellie said and after a few seconds of hesitation Mack pulled out his gun but was stopped by Jane who grabbed his hand
"Jeez, kid"
"As a hammer, A hammer" Mack stated like it was obvious and he made a gesture with the gun like he was hammering down a nail "Like Ellie was saying"
"Oh. That's good" Doc said as he took the gun out of Mack's hand, He then stated gently tapping the drill piece further into the guys head until they all heard a squirt and suddenly blood started squirting out of his head and over all of them
"Oh god" Murphy exclaimed stepping even further back "Well I guess that releaved the pressure" He said again when he saw Ricks eyes fluttering
"Is this gonna work" Mack asked Doc
"I don't know.. I didn't see the end of the episode"
"Great" Ellie grumbled while using the bottom of her top to wipe away the blood on her face
"He's gonna be alright. I know it" Jane said "I know it"
"Here. Just apply pressure" Doc said grabbing the woman's hand with a cloth in and put it over the wound "Just like that" When they all suddenly jumped when a loud clap of thunder sounded out.
"Is he gonna be alright with a piece of drill sticking out of his head?" Ellie asked Doc but was interrupted when the guy started spluttering up some blood.
"That's good. That's good" Doc said trying to reassure Jane who looked up alarmed "Maybe I should of pulled the drill bit out while he was still knocked out"
"Probably would of bee -" A clap of thunder sounded out again cutting Ellie of and suddenly the window shattered followed by a zombie flying in making them all cry out in fright and shock.
"Murphy take care of that zombie!" Doc shouted while he ran towards the window to close the shutter followed by Mack who put a board up in front of it. When all of a sudden Garnett came running into the room with a first aid kit but Warren wasn't with him.
"How is he" He asked Ellie until he saw the drill sticking out of his head "What did you do?"
"Oh, decompressive craniecttomy" Doc said coming over to Garnett who looked very confused "I took a drill to his dome" and that Garnett understood. "Wheres 10k and Cassandra?"
"I don't know"
"Where's Warren?" Ellie asked and Garnett looked confused again and began looking around and when he didn't see her he shouted out her name before running back towards the stairs and Ellie quickly followed him.
"Roberta?!" Garnett shouted as he climbed up the stairs and saw the door was closed "Roberta" He repeated pounding on the door. "Roberta what are you doing?... Roberta can you hear me?"
"What's happening? Ellie shouted
"She's blocked the door. Roberta please don't do this" Garnett begged her "The storm is gonna hit any minute!" He said trying to knock the door down but couldn't.
"Whats she doing?!" Ellie asked Garnett
"She wants to join her husband. i think she given up" Garnett explained still banging on the door "Roberta please open the door"
"Warren please don't do this" Ellie shouted coming up to the door and banging on it "I can't lose you" she said tears coming to her eyes
"Roberta what are you doing!? Open the door!" Garnett said
"I have to wait for him this time Charlie" Warren said sounding on the brink of tears "I owe him that much"
"No! Goddammit. Come down right now" Garnett shouted banging on the door again
"It's like you said, I can't start forgetting until I know"
"Roberta please don't do this" But she just started laughing hysterically
"Warren please open the door" Ellie begged banging on it again " He wouldn't want you to die for him and You're like a mother to me, I cant lose you, so please open the door".
"I'm sorry baby girl" Warren said making Ellie cry out "Charlie get her away from the door" she said when the wind started howling louder indicating that it was getting closer
"No!" Ellie sobbed "I'm not leaving you!"
"Ellie we have to go" Garnett said grabbing shoulder knowing that Warren wasn't gonna change her mind but she shook him off
"No! She'll die if we leave her. Warren open the damn DOOR" She shouted banging on the door again
"Get her away from the door Charlie" Warren repeated and Garnett knew that Ellie would come away willingly. So with that in mind he grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away from the door.
"No! Garnett let me go!" She begged trying to pry his hands of her but Garnett held on tight, but not to hurt her but enough that she couldn't get him off.
"Ellie we have to go" he demanded starting to pull her down the stars but she was struggling which was making it difficult
"No! Warren!" She shouted again still trying to get out of his grasp.
"I love you baby girl" She heard Warren say through the door.
"I'm sorry Ellie" Garnett said with a conflicted look on his face before he quickly tugged her towards him making her lose her balance before he threw her up over his shoulders and carried her down the stairs.
"Garnett let me go" She demanded while banging her fists against his back and kicking her legs but he had a firm grip on her. Garnett ran down the stairs and through the door and slammed it shut with his foot, he then put Ellie down who went to go straight towards the door but Garnett stood in front of it.
"Not happening Ellie" He said firmly
"We have to get Warren, she is going to die and your just going to let her!?, do you even care about her" She demanded knowing she was being harse but she didnt care
"Warren made her chose, but I am not loosing you!" He shouted back at her tears also in his eyes "I can't get to Warren but I can protect you even if you hate me for it. But you are not getting up those stairs" He said to her and she just let out a sob before walking towards the corner of the room and dropping to the floor.
"Wheres Warren?" Mack asked when they had both stopped shouting
"She's not coming" Garnett said trying to compose himself
"What?" Doc asked "She's gonna get herself killed up there she needs to come down"
"She'a not coming" Garnett repeated and Mack just looked angry before he walked away and saw the zombie that Murphy was meant to kill was alive.
"Seriously Murphy, quit screwing ground with this thing" He said picking the z in the head and walking away when suddenly the whole house started shaking and they could hear rumbling.
"Everyone get down" Garnett shouted and Mack and Addy took cover together while Murphy hugged the zombie and Doc and jane covered rick, while Garnett went over to Ellie and sat next to her and Ellie cuddled into him while he shielded her head. It felt like hours till finally the shaking stopped but it was probably only a few minutes, the thunder had also stopped and they were all able to get up.
"Well that was fun" Doc said
"Are you ok" Garnett asked Ellie when she lifted up her head and she just nodded.
"Warren" she said quietly and Garnett jumped up and then pulled Ellie up and they both then ran out of the basement and up the stairs. Once they got to the top of the stairs and opened the door and what they saw was terrifying, the house was completely knocked down, none of it was intact. There was debris everywhere and smoke where the lightning had struck.
"Roberta!" Garnett shouted when he spotted her lying underneath thrown over chair. Running over and throwing it off her Garnett knelt down next to her calling her name and Ellie ran to her other side. She looked a little scratched up but over wise intact.
"Warren?" Ellie said quietly as she gently tapped her cheeks and they both were relieved when Warren opened her eyes. And once Garnett saw she was awake he pulled her against him to get her into a sitting position.
"Hey Charlie" she said before turning to Ellie and held out her hand for her to take which Ellie gladly took "Hey baby girl"
"Hi" she said smiling while crying and she could see Garnett was also smiling
"How did you... how are you?" Garnett said struggling to get his words out
"I tried to go home" Warren said as Garnett cupped her face with his hand to get her to look at him "But i'm still here" she said smiling and Garnett just kissed her on the forehead
"Thank god you are" He whispered holding her close until the others came out of the basement and all of them froze at the state of the house. Once Ellie and Garnett had got over the initial shock of Warren still being alive they then both helped pull Warren onto her feet and once she was up Ellie launched herself at Warren wrapping her into a hug but Warren stumble backwards and probably would of fallen over if Garnett hadn't grabbed her shoulder to stabilize her.
"I'm so glad your ok" Ellie whispered holding her tight
"Me too" Warren said hugging her as equally tight and they stayed like that for a few second before they both pulled away. "I'm ok" she said lifting her hand up to wipe away the tears that fallen down her cheek and then they both just started laughing. Until Addy came over and pulled Warren into a hug.
"You're crazy. You know that right?" she said as she pulled away making them all laugh again
"A little bit yeah" Warren said smiling
"And you do that again and i'm gonna kick your arse" Ellie warned punching her playfully in the shoulder and Warren responded by pulling her in for a side hug before kissing her gently on the side of her head.
"Hey" Mack shouted running up to them and in his hand was Warren's knife who took it with one hand with a thanks and a smile while she used her other hand to tap him gently on the cheek before they all started walking in the direction of the truck and Ellie hanged back with Addy.
"You ok Addy?" She asked her as they were walking.
"Yeah I'm ok... the storm just brought back some painful memories but Im ok now" She reassures her "Mack helped me through it"
"Hes a good egg that one is. Hold him tight and never let go" Ellie said smiling
"I heard my name" Mack said running up to Addy and pulling her in for a hug as they walked.
"Yeah Ellie was just asking me if I was ok and then I explained that you helped me through it"
"Im a great boyfriend aren't I?" Mack said smiling.
"Careful now your ego's showing" Ellie teased him and they all just laughed
"Man... if I see a munchkin, i'm gonna freak" They all heard Doc say as they were walking towards him and they all chuckled again
"I'd be more worried about the wicked witch of the west Doc" Ellie said a smile on her face and she clapped Doc on the back before stopping next to him.
"Not funny kiddo" Doc said looking at her and he was trying his best to glare at her but couldn't help let out a chuckle and Ellie soon joined in "Come on let's get to the truck" he said before walking off and when he did Ellie saw Garnett a few paces in front of her.
"Garnett?" She said loud enough to get his attention and he turned to look at her. "Can I talk to you"
"Sure" He said with a look of confusion on his face before he walked over and stopped in front of her "Everything ok" he asked as he saw the look on her face and the way she was playing with her bracelet
"What I said back there... I didn't... I wasn't" She paused trying to gather her thoughts and Garnett smiled fondly at her before grabbing her hands in his stopping her fidgeting which made her look up at him.
"I get it, you have nothing to feel bad about" He reassured her
"I do though, I said some really nasty things to you and all you were trying to do was keep me safe... It's just the thought of losing Warren or you... or any of this group it breaks my heart. I may never see my family again and I've come to see you lot as my family.. even Murphy, but ill deny it if you mention it to him" she warned lightly and they both laughed. "But you have become like a father figure to me and Warren like a mother and I don't know what i'd do if id lost either of you"
"Hey now, I'm not going anywhere in a hurry ok?" He said before reaching up and wiping away some tears from her cheek and Ellie didn't even realize she started crying "And Warren would say the same"
"But you can't guarantee that"
"Nobody can especially in this situation but I promise you, I will fight tooth and nail to stay with you and I will always protect you" Garnett said smiling fondly at her. "No amount of arguing or disagreement is gonna change that. You were scared and I was scared, we were maybe gonna lose someone we loved. But you... you will always be my main priority and Warren would agree. I love you like a daughter and I always will. Come here" He said pulling her into a hug which Ellie gladly accepted. They stayed like that for a few seconds with Ellie resting her head on Garnett chest and his chin rested on top of her head until they heard Murphy shout out something like 'I'm getting old here' making them both chuckle before they pulled away and walked to the vehicles.
"Everything ok?" Warren asked them as they got to the truck and they both smiled.
"Everything's good" Garnett said tapping Ellie on the shoulder before going to stand by the door of the fire truck, while Ellie walked up to Warren and pulled her in for a hug making her let out a small chuckle before tapping her on the back.
"You ok?" She whispered repeating the question and she could feel Ellie nodding her head
"Everything's great" Ellie said pulling away from her and smiling before she stepped back and walked over to the truck. Where Doc was waiting with Murphy sat in the back seat with his feet hanging out and he was resting his arms on his knees.
"About damn time" Murphy grumbled "I need to go"
"Oh hush Murphy we'll be back on the road now in a minute".
"You know I don't get that saying, your either going now or in a minute you can't do both" He complained
"You can where i'm from" Ellie argued poking her tongue out at him and he pulled a face back at her
"Alright children behave" Warren interrupted them with a smirk on her face "I'm not sure if I care for that look"
"Nobody asked you" Murphy said as he rubbed his now bald head
"New haircut, same Murphy" Garnett said before he got in the vehicle and the rest followed while Doc and Ellie turned and looked at Jane and Rick who were waiting by the side of the truck.
"Hey Doc, Thank you truly" Rick said holding out his hand for Doc to shake and he did
"Do you have anything for the pain" Jane asked in concern when she saw her husband flinch and hold his head
"Oh.. I...I am so sorry" Doc said while shaking his head "I wish I did" but seeing the disappointment on both there faces Doc sighed "here" he said while taking out two bottle out of his pocket. "Take it easy on those, that's good stuff"
"Are you folks gonna be alright?" Garnett shouted from the fire truck window
"Ricks got family nearby" Jane reassure them "We're gonna keep looking for them, but thanks... Thanks for everything"
"Take care of yourself" Ellie said to them as Doc climbed into the driver seat and shut the door and Murphy did the same. She also then made her way around the truck to get into the passenger side before they drove off, waving goodbye to Rick and Jane as they went past and as they were driving they could hear Citizen Z's voice coming across the radio
"Survivors of the world Hello. If your hearing this, congrats. Your still alive. You are the baddest of the baddesses. Fearing neither man nor twister nor living dead. My headset is off to you"
