"Here, try this," Theo said, shoving something under Pansy's nose. She took a small sniff before sneezing loudly.
"Sneeze powder flower," Theo laughed, putting the brightly colored fabric flower back into the bin. Pansy sneezed again, glaring at him.
"You are..."
"Awesome, amazing, artistically inclined?" Theo asked. Pansy shook her head.
"We're supposed to be there getting a birthday present for your boyfriend, not pranking each other," she muttered.
"How am I supposed to know if something is worth giving Harry if I don't test it out first?" Theo asked. Pansy shook her head.
"You keep at it then, I'm going to go over here and look at something that won't make me sneeze, or change the color of my hair, or turn into a freaking canary," she muttered, walking towards the front of the store. So in a hurry to get away from Theo's pranks, Pansy turned the corner sharply, not looking ahead. She smacked into something hard.
"Ouch!"
"Sorry!"
She heard a voice exclaim, followed by the sound of boxes dropping. Pansy blinked and looked at who she'd run into. It was one of the twins, she'd never bothered to learn to tell them apart. The floor was covered with cardboard boxes which the twin had apparently been carrying.
"I should have been looking where I was going," Pansy muttered.
"No, I wasn't looking either, thought I could get all these at the same time," he replied. Pansy bent down and started to pick up the boxes, handing them to him. She had just handed him another one when she sneezed loudly.
"Sorry, Theo got me with one of those flowers."
"Yeah, but you're not supposed to bleed from them."
Pansy brought her fingertips to her nose, there was a thin line of blood trickling from her left nostril.
"Shoot! I am going to kill him!"
"Don't, I've got something in back, part of the Skivving Snackbox line, here, this way," he said. Pansy followed him behind the counter and into the back of the shop. Compared to the front, it was dull. The boxes were all basic cardboard brown, the shelves metal and grey.
"I know, it's like night and day. I'm George by the way. Pansy right?"
"Yeah," she answered. George handed her a tissue. She pressed it to her nose as he found the aforementioned candy and handed her the purple part. She popped it in her mouth and chewed, almost instantly she realized something was wrong. Her tongue felt like it was on fire. She looked to George with wide scared eyes.
"Damn it! Here, hold still. You're having an allergic reaction," he said, rummaging through a drawer and pulling out a pink pill. Pansy recognized it from the healer lessons she'd attended. Popping it in her mouth, she felt the fire subside slightly. She was able to breathe again.
"Sorry! It's not common and only happens in people who are-"
"Allergic to feverfew?" Pansy finished, her voice slightly raspy.
"Exactly. Um, hey, I feel horrible for that, I could have killed you if I hadn't had-"
"Don't be, you know what," Pansy smiled weakly. "I'm going to a birthday party for the boyfriend of one of my friends, Come with me, as my date? That'll teach Theo to use me as his test subject," Pansy stated.
"Is there going to be cake?" George asked, knowing exactly who Theo was currently dating. He was already planning on going to Harry's party, since Harry was like family.
"Of course, it's not a party without cake," Pansy laughed, feeling better by the minute.
"I'd love to go with you to this party," George stated.
"Great, meet me here Saturday morning?" Pansy suggested.
"It's a date," George agreed, smiling brightly. He wasn't sure going on a party date with Pansy would teach Theo anything, but he did like the way she thought, and maybe it was worth getting to know her better?
